Tech Note: LGF Spy Now Open
The LGF CommentSpy has been renamed simply “LGF Spy,” because its powers have been greatly expanded with little or no congressional oversight.
In a nutshell, the LGF Spy now displays nearly every user-initiated action (comments, spinoff links, or ratings) that happens at LGF, in very close to real time. (Every three seconds, to be precise.)
Until now, the LGF Spy has been restricted to registered lizards. But for a limited time, I’m going to open it up to the world to see how much it impacts our servers.
If the system load gets insane, I’ve built in a mechanism to shut off the LGF Spy on a global basis, hopefully before it brings down the site. The reason for my caution: with more than 2500 readers online, if a significant fraction of them start sending requests to our DB server every three seconds… well, I’m not sure what will happen. But I’ll never know if I don’t try.
So without further ado, and with my scaly claw hovering over the shut-off switch, here’s the link: LGF Spy.
