Obama 'Saddened,' Had No Idea, Shocked

Thu, Jun 5, 2008 at 10:27:20 am PDT

How many times can he get away with using this line?

Obama issued a statement saying he was “saddened,” adding, “This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew, but now he has been convicted by a jury on multiple charges that once again shine a spotlight on the need for reform.”

It wasn’t the Rev. Wright he knew either, or the Father Pfleger he knew, or the William Ayers he knew, or the Samantha Power he knew, or the Robert Malley he knew, or the Trinity United Church he knew ...

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

33 lawhawk  Thu, Jun 5, 2008 10:32:13am

Let's see. Obama has all these longstanding relationships with Bill Ayers, Bernadine Doern, Jeremiah Wright, Pfleger, Rezko, and all the rest (that's getting to be a big list), and yet he now says he has no idea about these guys' backgrounds?

Who is he trying to fool? Well, I guess he's managing to fool many a Democrat who is going to pull the lever for him in November.

The fact is that he's an empty suit with no experience whose ties to terrorists (and yes, that's exactly who Doern and Ayers are), felons (Rezko), and racists and anti-Semites (Wright and Pfleger) should be more than mere troubling - it should raise serious questions as to his character and fitness to lead the nation - which is to say he lacks the character or fitness to lead.

34 Fat Jolly Penguin  Thu, Jun 5, 2008 10:32:41am

re: #17 Kosh's Shadow

And when Obama is elected, and stabs Israel in the back, there will be many liberal Jews who say "This isn't the Obama I knew"

I posted this earlier this morning in another thread:

I'm angry this morning...I've been angry since watching Obama address the AIPAC conference. Until very recently he was entrenched in the TUCC led by Jeremiah Wright. Yes, we all know about Jeremiah...but what I can't fathom is how Obama has the audacity to show up at the AIPAC conference and pretend to be a friend of Israel after years of sitting in the pews and hearing how Israel has illegally occupied Palestinian territories. This is what our friend Jeremiah had to say in the June 2005 Trumpet Magazine:

The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian
territories for almost 40 years now. It took a divestment
campaign to wake the business community up concerning
the South Africa issue. Divestment has now hit the table
again as a strategy to wake the business community up
and to wake Americans up concerning the injustice and
the racism under which the Palestinians have lived
because of Zionism.
The Divestment issue will hit the floor during this
month’s General Synod. Divesting dollars from businesses
and banks that do business with Israel is the new strategy
being proposed to wake the world up concerning the
racism of Zionism. That Divestment issue won’t make the
press either, however.

Is all this "not the ______ I knew" enough grounds to legitamatly question Obama's judgment?

Accepting that he actually "didn't know"....wouldn't that be an even larger reason (than he did know, but that is how he rolls) to keep him out of the Office?

I'd rather a Leftist that is honest about it, then a guy who didn't know he was dealing with Domestic Terrorists, Racists, the NOI, and Crooks. Especially when his entire Foreign Policy is based on sitting down with our Enemies and "feeling them out", and using his greater judgment to figure where they are coming from and "buliding bridges". If Obama's judge of character is this bad......

If we REALLY want to sink Nobama and his campaign we don't need to show his association with all the people that hate, despise and want to see the US come to an end. That is what they praise. a 22 year old "stud" and they're going to limit him to 140 inningas as a starter?

They're working up the pitch count. With any luck he can go six next time out.

If you use 140 innings as a benchmark, he can make at least 20 starts of seven innings. If they make a move this season, expect that number to go out the window.

Sure, it smacks of desperation since Hughes and Kennedy have done squat so far, but he needs to be a starter from here on.

Problem is, the set-up guys are a disaster.

Frankly, I don't think they're going anywhere this year and they have an abundance of young arms we haven't seen yet, so if they're out of it come August, bring them up and sort them out and see what we've got.

A lot of payroll comes off after this season (wave goodbye to Giambi and likely Damon), so they'll be free agency players again.

It's almost impossible to get decent pitching on the market nowadays; teams lock up the young arms and it costs a fortune to get a guy like Santana, althought in hindsight they probably should've done that deal. Oh well.

Let's see.
Who is he trying to fool? Well, I guess he's managing to fool many a Democrat who is going to pull the lever for him in November.

They're not fooled, they are deaf, dumb, and blind. And they don't care. To them, that's not the point. Obama is their answer this election, come hell or high water. Americans, in general, I don't think really care about this stuff being uncovered by Obama. It's put down to nasty politics. Traditionally, no matter who has been in the WH, it doesn't really affect the average person's life. These warning lights going off everywhere that BHO and a fully demo controlled Congress will definitely negatively affect our lives has no impact. It won't be of concern until something is too late.

Either his ties to these individuals is deliberate out of ideology or done out of political expedience.

Taking Obama at his utterly implausible word, that its merely a coincidence that he's closely associated with a bunch of shady characters, then the only reasonable conclusion is that the guy is a total rube, unable to see he's being manipulated.

In other words, Obama is telling us in his own words that he has no insight into human character.

Ipso facto, he's unqualified to be POTUS, and triply unqualified to sit down in unconditioned face-to-face talks with all of the world's despots.

Barack Obama hasn't even completed his first term as a United States senator, yet is running for president. One can honestly make the claim he isn't qualified, but because of his race, has been embraced by the liberal establishment as a means of assuaging their self-induced white guilt curse.

Thus, as the first Affirmative Action presidential candidate, he has dredged up the resentment many Americans feel whenever bumped by someone who is clearly less qualified, yet selected purely because of his or her race. AA was always considered a good thing when booting a white male from a position they clearly deserved. Now that it's being used against the Left (and they don't even realize it), it's irking many.

Yet, another casualty thrown under the Hussein Obama bus.

Dr. Martin Luther King,

"I dream of the day, when my four little children will live in a country, where they won't be judged by their skin color, but by the quality of their character."

Barack Hussein Obama, the DNC and the Democrat party as well as all in the media, have all made clear, that nobody, NOBODY has any right to judge Obama's character, and if anyone does, they are called a racist by all previously mentioned.

Any, questioning of anything about Obama, his beliefs, his policies, etc, is labeled racism.

Any person who is a Presidential candidate, should have their character thoroughly examined, regardless of their skin color, or gender.

Like Rush said on his radio show today, "I wonder what Dr. King would say about this."

Obama should look in the mirror, to see the one who needs to reform, before he accuses others of needing reformation.

I never thought I'd see the day, when Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrats and the media would throw Dr. Martin Luther King under the Obama bus, but it has happened.

If as Putin's FM Lavrov says Russia gives US/NATO 6 months notice on the Russian Bear flights, why then would US/NATO let the plane get so close to the Destroyer in Guam (I think it was Guam)...?

re: #91 JammieWearingFool

Isn't he from one of those middle states?

Tennessee is in the north?

The Gorifice, A'l Ghore, was born in Washington DC while his sire was located there. Some will argue that DC is in the South (hell, the Brits classify an assignment to DC as a 'tropical' location), others think it is in the North, but I think that it is in the dumps and has been for decades (truth in advertising, when I was first married, me and the Ms. lived at the Kennedy-Warren on Connecticut Ave. the first building immediately to the left of the main entrance to the National Zoo. As much as I hate living in an apartment, that was a pretty cool 1930's building in a nice area. Had a doorman, restaurant, daily garbage pickup and you could buy beers in the lobby store..).

He claims TN as his home state just like I claim Ohio as where I'm from but it was really only where I was born (USAF brat).

Interesting.
And McCain pointedly made the exact OPPOSITE comment, saying when he looked into Putin's eyes, all he saw was "K-G-B"?

/Meanwhile Obama has never met Putin.

After Iran has bombed Israel and after Americans are waiting five-hours for five gallons of nationalized gas and five months for "access" to nationalized health care, President Obama will say he is "saddened," and "deeply dissappointed," "shocked," and that he "had no idea."

I don't believe for a moment that Pres. Bush believed that, but said it to be disarming against a very dangerous man - and evil man - Putin belongs in the axis of evil.

On the other hand, Truman did think that Stalin was an honest person. Stalin thought Truman was a fool.

Why do people swallow this load of tripe?
He's lying, he's known these people for years. He agrees with them.
The old joke is:
How do you know when a politician is lying?
He opens his mouth!

Thats Barry to a T.

If the lefty loonies, the halfwits and the racists vote him in he can destroy America in 4 years esp. if he has the backing of congress and the house.
Just look at the damage he has done to race relations just in the primaries! At the very least he has put back relations by decades (Martin Luther King must be spinning in his grave - he was right to consider a person by their character rather than just the colour of their skin.) If Barry wins he will set about punishing *whitey* under the guise of robbing the big bad corporations to pay for *social* projects. He'll also raise taxes on you so you can pay for all the *victims* of your history, taking away from primarily white states to keep the welfare losers happy 'cos they voted for him.
(I don't know how the successful professional African-Americans are going to feel about being taxed till they squeak!). He will wreak havoc socially and economically, you think you've got problems now...
International relations would be worse. He really doesn't have a clue what he is doing and appears to have no-one who knows anything to advise him. Arrogance is a weakness and he is a very arrogant man. He thinks he will go and talk to your enemies and all of a sudden they are going to be friends. They will run rings around him. I'll bet Iran can't wait, they will have their nukes before he notices anything. I do not want to think how much damage he will do to the western world. He is a direct threat to your security - his sins may be ones of ommission rather than possibly commission but the effects could well be the same.

He has earned my contempt. I fear for you. Please vote McCaine, anything is better than Barry and he might well surprise you. I hope so.

I tend to think so, too.
Bush is under no illusions as to what Putin is.
Its called "diplomacy" and despite the rhetoric from the Left, Bush has actually been engaging in it for the last eight years.

re: #57 buzzsawmonkey

BTW, the wave of pure, unadulterated, out and out racism emanating from the black folks interviewed this morning on NPR about the Obama candidacy is sickening.

It is all color of the skin.

It is not in the least bit about content of character.

Martin Luther King's dream remains a dream, and the people he invited to dream with him have opted for nightmare.

The War on Poverty and Affirmative Action saw to it that King Jr.'s dream had no chance of coming to fruition.

My doorman in my building has assembled a 3 page sheet of "inconvenient" facts on Obama that he plans on handing to any resident of our building who tells him they plan on voting for Obamaramadingdong.

That is encouraging. An average guy actually DOING something to educate people. Even if only a few of them pay attention, that is progress.

Emil Jones:
"Jones, the president of the Illinois Senate, amounts to Obama's political godfather and was an important part of Obama's longshot victory for U.S. Senate in 2004. He helped the little-known politician meet the right people, and he picked Obama to handle high-profile legislation during the two years leading up to the election.

But Jones' political style is very different from Obama's.

Jones is known for steering state money to a few favored institutions, including some that employ his relatives. Several of his relatives have gotten state jobs, and his wife's government salary jumped 60 percent after he became Senate president. He has played an important role in blocking ethics legislation in Illinois.

Rashid Khalidi
Khalidi is a scholar (they must use that term loosely!) and author on Middle Eastern affairs who has criticized Israeli policies and was part of a Palestinian advisory panel to peace talks in the early 1990s.
He's also a friend of Obama.
The Khalidis hosted a political fundraiser for Obama in 2000, and the Woods Fund charity gave money to the Arab-American Action Network, run by Mona Khalidi, while Obama served on the charity's board.

So, since these(and the ones listed by Charles above) are all people he has spent his adult life surrounding himself with-- one must FINALLY ask the only question that needs to be asked:
Hussein, IF these are not the "people I knew", to quote your OWN words, WHAT DO YOU KNOW?

(evidently not enough to fill a thimble) mole mole mole mole mole mole mole mole

an aside--
Hugh Hewitt mentioned that someone who called in to his show today has likened BHussein to the Julius Rosenberg. And lest anyone maintain that his execution for treason was unfair, as happened in the decades that followed the Rosenberg trial, and occasionally happens today, whatever lingering doubts remained about Julius's guilt have evaporated as the result of release of the "Venona cables" and information released following the collapse of the Soviet Union. In 1997, Alexsandr Feklisov, Rosenberg's Soviet control came forward to describe his meetings with Julius in the 1940's. Feklisov credited Rosenberg with providing the information necessary for the Soviets to assemble a proximity fuse that would enable them to shoot down an American U2 spy plane in 1960.

We are in biggie trouble. What we cherish we are going to kill with this election. Seduced by the seduction. Aristotle says it best (and I saw it at LGF) "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
The lowest common denominator is going to take this great nation down.
Even with their differences, our founding fathers would be not pleased to see such disrespect of ideals as we see today.
Without the U.S. this world would be a sadder place. How shameful that we are excoriated by our own as well as those who have benefited from our fundamental belief in and, hope for humanity. Despite the hatred we remain the most compassionate and generous of people. A conundrum indeed.

Someone mentioned that all of these "friends" of Obama won't matter and that Americans will not care about this issue. Actually everyone I know is very aware of Obama's association with the Rev Wright, Pleger, Resko, Ayer and company for 20 years. This is the first thing they talk about when Obama's name is mentioned and it is a very big deal to them. No one I know is saying anything good about the Obamas.
