wget/curl are wonderful 'unix/linux' tools, so is mirror. Complete copies as 'deep' as you want to go and either including as links or downloading external links too.....

However hitting the site with a 10Mb/s wget.... that's borderline denial of service 'attempts'.

I don't know how robust his servers are, or even if that would make any difference.

I also don't know that something that could be "construed" as a DOS attack really is.

If you're worried that your inspection would disturb the observed, how about a slightly slower crawl? If you don't actually deny anyone any service, what's the harm? Also, for a DOS attack, doesn't there have to be intent? Do you think Obama's people would further humilate themselves by trying to chase that angle?

Sadly, I know a few. Most of my family was solidly (D) for much of the 20th century- my grandfather worked in the Roosevelt administration. Only since Reagan have some of us seen the light. Sadly, I have an 80-year-old aunt who's a nun, (and very intelligent)and still is fiercely loyal to the (D). A few weeks ago I was chatting with her, politics came up, and she pounded her fist on the table and said "I want a black president!" I kind of changed the subject while thinking (but not saying), is the "black" part all that matters? I'd like to think that she would vote for Alan Keyes if he was the (R) nominee, but I'm not so sure....

I sort of do this stuff for a living (well design these architectures), I've seen a lot of whack stuff happen... and just because I may WIN in a criminal or civil case doesn't mean I want to go through it (or pay for it against deep pockets).

That was my point earlier...the very fact that the site was wide open gives them enough wiggle room to claim anything that comes off the site that makes them look bad, was planted there...that will be enough for most people who are inclined to vote for him, to disregard it all as some GOP dirty trick.

It's a sign of sentience that they do watch what we say. We just gave them a very helpful, and reasonably polite, heads-up. Amateurs and beginners they are, but at least they can admit tacitly to making mistakes, by correcting them.
