Obama's Amateurish Web Designers

Sun, Jun 8, 2008 at 9:42:55 pm PDT

The Barack Obama web designers have left a directory wide open: Index of /my.

This is the directory for the my.barackobama.com site, and they neglected to disable directory indexes.

Amateurish beyond belief.

(Hat tip: Dasher.)

UPDATE at 6/8/08 10:19:11 pm:

Their CSS directory is also wide open.

UPDATE at 6/8/08 10:24:32 pm:

More open directories:

And that reminds me. I see this one PDF in that which I opened it up and it's a flier for the Obama campaign.

The last statement of the flier is startling.

4: Take immediate steps to confront the humanitarian disaster in Iraq, and hold accountable any perpetrators of war crimes.

Okay 1: Iraq is now a humanitarian disaster? 2: Are war crimes in reference to the Haditha scandal? Does this mean Obama views the soldiers at Haditha are guilty until proven innocent?

I think my wife would be mad if I gave them my 'stuff'.

Seriously tho, this is the second big laugh.. the poster claiming that McCain's site has substandard search because they don't have clue, followed up by finding a complete dir (containing everything (unless they store stuff in a db and even then you can get it) open to downthemall or wget or curl or a hundred other tools.

Let's see....at least a third of Hillary voters said they would vote for McCain instead of Obama, the other Democrat.

Assuming that Obama and Clinton were split roughly 50-50 (which by most counts they were), and that the primary voters are typical of the Dem electorate (which is probably NOT true), that means that potentially 1/6 of the natural Dem electorate could go to McCain.

If that's true, that would be a landslide for McCain.

Yes, they have but Obama doesn't recognize that Al Qaeda is in Iraq right now so therefore there's no war crimes being committed by them so what other suggestions does that leave it? All I know is Haditha that comes to mind.

If you're worried that your inspection would disturb the observed, how about a slightly slower crawl? If you don't actually deny anyone any service, what's the harm? Sadly, I know a few. Most of my family was solidly (D) for much of the 20th century- my grandfather worked in the Roosevelt administration. Only since Reagan have some of us seen the light. Sadly, I have an 80-year-old aunt who's a nun, (and very intelligent)and still is fiercely loyal to the (D). A few weeks ago I was chatting with her, politics came up, and she pounded her fist on the table and said "I want a black president!" I kind of changed the subject while thinking (but not saying), is the "black" part all that matters? I'd like to think that she would vote for Alan Keyes if he was the (R) nominee, but I'm not so sure....

He comes from the ultra-Leftist tradition of military = baby killers.

He's a walking "Redacted" film, where American soldiers are either sadistic killers, rapists, or victims of the system. They're never young men and women who made a choice to serve their country, with their full faculty and saneness of their convictions.

Look at what his statement really says:

#1 - Concede defeat
#2 - Give into foreign demands
#3 - The "strong man" philosophy of governance (Fascist) combined with diplomatic organs (Internationalist)
#4 - Reconciliation through punishment

I mean, I can't find a leader in history who did this. Not one. Even Mao/Stalin/Ho etc. always defended their countries' interests to the teeth.

That's exactly right. Obama represents a new paradigm in leftist leadership. When the Warsaw Pact condemned Eastern Europe to the Soviet yolk, sure there were leaders in those countries who rounded up and condemned their own people; yet they were doing so because they were Soviet puppets.

But who's pulling the strings on Obama? No one. As US President, he's the puppetmaster of the world.

Bite your tongue! Your current pic is lovely. It would be a travesty to replace that beauty with an H.T. pic.

Wow. Found some js leading me to believe they use Brightcove for streaming video. Brightcove supposedly provides a turnkey solution. Hopefully they had nothing to do with the horrendous lack of security.

re: #200 sngnsgt

That was my point earlier...the very fact that the site was wide open gives them enough wiggle room to claim anything that comes off the site that makes them look bad, was planted there...that will be enough for most people who are inclined to vote for him, to disregard it all as some GOP dirty trick.

We seem to have gotten their attention. The link to the formerly-open css directory now redirects to the home page.

re: #207 sngnsgt

The "my." part is just a place where people can set up their own blogs and personalized pages.

The blog site isn't very much different than Obamas official site, it's not very flattering either.

What a maroon. This is obviously what we can expect from an Obamajebus Presidency. Utter, sheer incompetence. I don't take "hyuk hyuk, goshdarnitall how'd that happen?" as an excuse.

212 Lumyrra  Sun, Jun 8, 2008 11:54:13pm

This might just be me, but all the links in the original post end up leading to the site index. Was still able to get to the flier and the page that Killian found, but other than that, the links I tried were redirected.

213 Egfrow  Mon, Jun 9, 2008 12:23:29am

All those links are closed now. They are watching everything we do.

214 MARedneck  Mon, Jun 9, 2008 2:23:47am

This is truly wonderful. Sorry I wasn't in for the fun. Brilliant, just briliant. Have to wait if we get the throbbing CYA memo though.

215 galloping granny  Mon, Jun 9, 2008 2:55:14am

Dang it Charles! They have done gone and put in a redirect. Now I can't look at the goodies!

216 sojerofgod  Mon, Jun 9, 2008 5:02:41am

So do you think it is safe to say that Obama-ites are monitoring LGF now? How's that for stalinist intrusion into the private affairs of the citizenry?

Come the revolution we may get more than just looked at.

Hey! Obamaites!

Looks like Charles is educating the novice web programmers over at the Obamanation. With all their money you would think they could afford to hire competent help.

Hello - any "Dead Threader's" out here this morning?

219 nacazo  Mon, Jun 9, 2008 7:11:00am

The Obama web administrators seem to be pro-Jihadi based on their leaving the Jemaa Islamiya for Obama and Al-Qaeda for Obama blogs.

Isn't there a possibility that they are leaving it open so that other pro-jihadi cyber terrorists can use the Obama servers for malicious purposes like the vandalism they attempt on anti-jihadi sites such as [Link: www.faithfreedom.com...] which was vandalized last week?

I wonder.

Their hiring practices are probably much like how any gov't agency runs. It's not the most qualified person that gets the job. It's the person that best fits the "make-up". (special consideration if you're a minority, female, multi-lingual with English NOT being your primary language!)

Ahhh ,Affirmitive Action at it's best !

OK, For us web un-saavy types, I assume an "open directory" is a directory that wasn't sufficiently locked down from prying eyes?...

If so, I have to figure the Obamatons will go apesh*t this morning... That #4 on the list is damning beyond belief.
Anyone... ANYONE who believes Obama "supports the troops" after reading that is either mentally disabled or in deep, deep denial.

The only excuse can be the PDF was "planted" by The VRWC or Karl Rove has some l33t hacking skillz (are the kids still saying that?)

Now I have to check back to see if Charles posts the Obamatons reaction to the "breach".

Popcoren... ready!

...or "popcorn"... I finished all the "popcoren". PIMF

224 Soccer Fan  Mon, Jun 9, 2008 7:57:46am

I came late to this thread so I apologize if this has been asked already but... wasn't one of the items of great value to Obama his internet site and all of the data he has collected on his contributors, etc.? Was this db compromised as well?

re: #213 Egfrow

It's a sign of sentience that they do watch what we say. We just gave them a very helpful, and reasonably polite, heads-up. Amateurs and beginners they are, but at least they can admit tacitly to making mistakes, by correcting them.

Keep in mind, this is the team that beat the brilliant Clinton team and won the nomination, despite having no Rolodex of megadonors and no real advantage in terms of candidate policy and track record.
