Obama Campaign Spending Out of Control

Tue, Jun 10, 2008 at 3:09:01 pm PDT

A burn rate of 114% and the largest, most highly paid staff in US history—is the Obama campaign going broke?

It’s another indicator of what will happen to the nation if he’s elected.

Highly paid? If the quality of his web site is any indication, they are way over paid.

What a joke this man is. We are all so screwed if he manages to get elected.

Can you even imagine him saying "the buck stops here"?

If he becomes president, it'll be like the late '70s under Carter, but at least we'll have some CHANGE! left in our collective pockets after the nation is bankrupted.

From the link Charles gave:

“I realize Obama is the greatest fundraiser in American political history, but he blew through a couple hundred million over the past few months,” Davis said.

I suspect this is how Obama will run America: Spend now and cross your fingers we'll earn it back later.

Recipe for financial ruin, as has been demonstrated time and again over the years. Both on a personal level and as a national policy.

Funny you say that. Father Pflager, Barrys other spiritual mentor once said that all whites were guilty of the sin of slavery in America, even if your people were not even here. This would not pass muster in a course in logic. OK depends on the university.

They claim their bill will prevent the oil companies from passing it on. What they don't explain is when the oil companies decide to stop producing, refining, and distributing oil because of the 'windfall profit tax'.

58 Silhouette  Tue, Jun 10, 2008 3:28:40pm

Just watched a video of him calling tax cuts "spending."

That's how he sees YOUR money, as already belonging to the government. So a tax cut, meaning the government takes away less of your money, he sees that as the government giving you that money, or spending it on you.

Oh, and he also thinks the best way to get a business to charge customers less is to massively INCREASE that business' costs.

Genius!

"I charge 10 cents for each glass of lemonade today, but tomorrow, the neighborhood is going to charge me 20 bucks a day to run my lemonade stand. I guess I'll lower my price to 5 cents a glass." /obama world

This will be the third time for this suggestion.

bHo's appearance on each state's ballot should be challenged. A Constitutional requirement for the job is to be a citizen from birth. Without making his birth certificate public, and knowing of his parent's citizenship, we have no assurance that he's legal. In fact, there is some reason to believe he is not.

Any voter should be able to contest his ballot appearance at the state level.

We were going to get Obama anyway. Besides spending BO's money, Hillary did our work of exposing reasons not to vote for Obama.

Another effect we may yet see is that Hillary people held out hope so long, they may be so invested emotionally that they cannot bring themselves to vote for BO.

95 JustMyView  Tue, Jun 10, 2008 4:08:21pm

Doesn't this post contradict the one from this morning that talked about Obama's fundraising prowess? There's nothing in the article linked above to suggest that the campaign is going broke. The 114% burn rate was for April, the month of the Pennsylvania primary. That 's why you raise money--so you can spend it on essential, high-cost activities. He didn't win, but he beat expectations and established a base for the fall.

It’s another indicator of what will happen to the nation if he’s elected.

Liberals are good at spending other people's money. This just shows Senator Obama is better at it than most.

Charles, I hope you see this post. I can identify with Savage in what he is dealing with in his personal life. I did not see his posts that caused his banning, but I know that at the time of my divorce (11 years ago) my passions ran as deep as his. Savage loves his children as do I and is committed to protect them as I am. If I posted on this site back then, I guess I would also be banned. Savage exhibits what is best about America and his rantings evolve from a parent's desire to do what's best for those they love most. Sometimes parents go over the line but as my daughter once told me, "that's our job".

Savage may have crossed a line with a comment that should have been deleted but I do not understand his banning. I could be wrong here, just ask my ex. Should I be out of line here, please ignore my post. Thanks Charles for a forum that I can not ony vent but applaud you for your your previous accomplishments to the digital world.

Funny you say that. Father Pflager, Barrys other spiritual mentor once said that all whites were guilty of the sin of slavery in America, even if your people were not even here. This would not pass muster in a course in logic. OK depends on the university.

Since Obama's ancestors were the black slavers who sold Africans to Dutch traders, and I have a drop or two of actual black slave in me (not to mention multi-people Injun) -- does that mean Obama owes me reparations?

Or is this just something that comes with a lack of melanin (in which case, my legs owe my arms -- oh, shoot, now I'm confused.)

Spending money to get elected is not an exclusive of the left.
That said, every day it becomes more apparent to me that BHO is just a pretty boy mouthpiece for someone else. I bet he couldn't find Iraq on a globe or tell you who the PM of Australia is (or why). If you asked him who Thomas Paine is (or was, to be fair) he would be befuddled.
This guy is just a tool of special interests, more akin to LBJ than JFK (who was just an innocent gangster's son). Whoever is behind him wants him to be POTUS for one reason only; enrichment.

Susan -

The question is this. Understand the "High Burn Rate" at the end of a contested primary. Assume he can recoup, and given the loopholes he has found, he probably can. Will the "burn rate" be the same after the convention? If it is - will vendors go with the program? If yes, he has no money problem, if not - interesting things will happen. Actually, Sue, I have to laugh, Hillary is 31 Million in the Hole. My unsuccessful campaign in 1981 wound up negative as well - $325. Needless to say, it was paid off.

re: #87 guzziguy

Who knows? I understand he doesn't have a draft card.

Doesn't this post contradict the one from this morning that talked about Obama's fundraising prowess?

Not really.
Its possible to be a great cash-raiser, but a terrible spender.
Here's an intriguing example of possible total fiscal irresponsibility.

In any case, Obama exceeding his income one month doesn' t mean anything. That's going to happen if/when he needs a "push".

Also, money helps, and its necessary to conduct a good campaign, but its certainly not sufficient. The bigger earner isn't always the winner.

I have read some rumors that he was born in Kenya, as his mother traveled there near the time of his birth. I don't know if this is true, half-true, or completely made up.

I am inclined to believe that, since his mother was a US citizen, the soil of his birth and the potential that his parents weren't married doesn't matter. He is a citizen.

I don't want to see him counted out on this kind of thing. Better he should be rejected by the voters for raging socialism, quoting Marx, disdain for the religious, worshiping at a racist church, negotiating with terrorists, etc.

He was insufferable, and they were his step children, who he threatened any number of times to throw out of his home.

The words he used about his pregnant step-daughter's body were sickening. I doubt that any male lizard would ever use any of his chosen vocabulary about a female. If someone called any part of a female member of your family any of these words, or any female lizard, I would bet that you would be one of the first to speak out, and hit 'report'. And savage did it sooooo many times

He also hijacked every thread he was on with his ongoing soap opera, but could not keep the plot straight. He got his banning the old-fashioned way: he earned it.

Yeah...don't know why. Suppose that they are considered adults. In any case I paid the money and got it a new one. Daughter needed it for her study abroad in college. I do know that my son (age 13) must have both parents sign off for his passport and it definitely looks like a deterrent to non-custodial kidnapping, which is fine by me.

Community Organizer means blackmailing politicians with threats of community action in order to receive community project funding. 167 eaglewingz08  Wed, Jun 11, 2008 7:18:16am

You know that if a Republican was generating a hundred million dollars in 'contributions' a month, the press would be all over it, looking for shady donators, fictitious or improper expenditures, and whether the donations wound up into any candidate's pocket or the pockets of his close advisors. Yet the media which claims it is so objective has not done a single story on democrat donations and expenditures since Hillary's Chinese restaurant donors story ended four months ago.

As detailed in an article on National Review Online about two weeks ago, B.O. did a lot of work on behalf of ACORN which is an umbrella group of urban Marxists and neo-Trotskyites which attempt to shake down local businesses to fund their radical economic agendas. They attempt to gain control of local school boards so they can indoctrinate the pupils with their Marxist agendas. Back in 2004 and 2006 a number of ACORN "chapters" were alledged to have committed vote fraud. A number of ACORN people were convicted of vote fraud. These are nasty, "in-your-face" radical moobats on a par with Code Pink and International ANSWER.
