About That HuffPo Moonbat Who Claimed LGF Planted Hate Blogs at the Obama Site...

Tue, Jun 10, 2008 at 5:48:58 pm PDT

As we noted yesterday, an idiot named Dave Johnson posted a ludicrous conspiracy theory about LGF at the Huffington Post hate site; of course, HuffPo’s standards are so low (read: nonexistent) that they allowed it to remain online, even though it’s laughably insane. According to ol’ Dave, I planted all those hateful blogs at my.barackobama.com.

Here’s Dave Johnson’s web site, with a repost of his rambling nonsense: Seeing the Forest: Today’s Obama Smear Attempt. Comments are open.

Oh, and you'd think the fact that the Obama campaign is now looking for a IT guru to handle its net operations at my.barackobama.com site would suggest that the whole mess is because of Obama's campaign staff incompetence, and nothing more.

Then again... there is Darth Rove to worry about. /

As far as he's concerned it's meaningless traffic. I added rel="nofollow" to the link to make sure it doesn't do anything for his Google pagerank.

I still don't understand his thinking. If it were right wingers posting the comments we would be smarter to wait until closer to the election.

However Clinton supporters would be best served to damage Obama before the DNC convention. Perhaps Johnson should look there.

I've got a feeling that the website's community blog section was going to folded soon anyway. With the nomination secured, Obama's campaign would want to shift from outreach mode to stay-on-message mode. A wild card like the open forum would likely be jettisoned before the convention.

Here ya go.

McCain is even leaning left online. Right now the campaign homepage features a prominent banner directing supporters to visit Daily Kos, the powerhouse liberal blog, to engage voters:

Activists who post comments across the cyber-aisle can even earn "points through the McCain Online Action Center." Just compare that to the last presidential election, when the Democratic nominee stripped its link to DailyKos, the largest Democratic hub online, after a single controversial post appeared on the site. It was "Reject and Denounce 1.0." Four years later, liberal blogs are so embedded in national politics that even the Republican nominee is trying to engage them.

Presumptive GOP nominee John McCain granted an interview to Newsweek’s Jon Meacham and Holly Bailey, and in the first sign of a long, uphill campaign with the media, McCain was asked how he could defeat such a "hugely gifted politician" in a "brutal year on a clinical level for any Republican to be running." Newsweek’s duo (or most plausibly, Newsweek editor Meacham) lectured McCain not to use a line about change we can’t believe in: "Watching, it struck me that fighting on somebody else's rhetorical field and offering a negative as opposed to a positive is not the most vigorous way forward." When asked about his critiques of the media, McCain buckled under pressure and pledged not to say anything critical about his press coverage.

Muslim parents to blame for children turning to extremism

British Muslim parents are to blame for leaving their children open to the lure of Islamic extremism, according to an influential academic

Dr Farhan Nizami CBE, a key adviser on Islam to the Prince of Wales, accused British Muslims of failing to make sure their children learn to speak English or supporting them in their education.

He said this leaves them alienated from mainstream society and exposed to being groomed by radical Islamic groups.

Long ago, whlle arguing with a self-proclaimed "liberal theologian," he flippantly said that liberals don't read conservative theology. I asked why. He said that liberal theology is "mainstream," "respected in academic circles" and "higher quality."

I met, a few days ago, a man who was studying at a conservative seminary. I asked him about his textbooks -- which ones, etc. He was well-grounded in conservative thought and had passing knowledge of all the liberal theologians, historians and interpretations.

Interesting. He also said that conservative churches are growing -- liberal ones are not growing. Old news. But he opined why -- he said that liberal churches have lost touch with the sort of theology that real people want to read. Liberals, he said, talk only to themselves.

I share this painfully long anecdote -- sorry -- only to suggest that we, conservatives, are much stronger and well-versed because we know and understand how liberals think. Since they are too afraid to link to us, we should snicker with glee. They're only hurting themselves.

We'll win in the end. Information will flow. Political power resides in the groups that are best informed. That's us, folk.

One of my favorite spelling goofs (well, to be fair, it was a typos) was in a student's paper about rhetorical devices in Patrick Henry's Speech to the Virginia Convention where he consistently called it the "Virgin Convention." I couldn't resist writing in the margin, "Did they all wear white?"

222 Reno911  Tue, Jun 10, 2008 6:46:25pm

Obama raises most of his money via the internet. Most of his contributers give $25 to $50. That means that they (the donors) can contribute over and over again, until they reach the personal limit ($2300), spreading the maximum contribution out over time. That's why his "blog" is so filthy, he needs to appeal to a wide range of haters. That maximizes his intake of cash. Forcing Obama to moderate his internet presence will have a negative effect on his online fundraising, I think. The key to stopping Obama is slowing down his money machine.

Dave, please point to A SINGLE post by Charles Johnson at LGF that contains even subtle racism much less "blatant racism," and while you're at it please point to a SINGLE LGF post OR comment at LGF that contains "Muslim eliminationism." Otherwise, your description of LGF is nothing but hot air.

You obviously know nothing about the site, you just believe the baseless smears against it, generally spread by far-left extremists and/or by Islamic fundamentalists and its sympathizers.

LGF is in fact an ANTI-hate site and an ANTI-racism site, and Charles Johnson may in fact be more socially liberal than you on some issues, believe it or not. In fact the only main difference between "Seeing the Forest" and "Little Green Footballs" (aside from LGF having 1000x the readership) is that LGF understands the epochal significance of the "war on terror" as it has been called -- that it is in a fact a defensive war against religious extremists who want to undo centuries of liberal democracy.

Why do you feel the need to be on the same side as the religious extremists? And if that question makes no sense to you, why can't you understand that you are helping radical fundamentalists who want to overthrow the liberal utopia we've created, known as "Western civilization"?

Christian leaders meet privately with Obama

The discussion "went absolutely everywhere," Jakes told The Associated Press, and "just about every Christian stripe was represented in that room."

About 30 people attended, the campaign said, but it released only three names: the Rev. Stephen Thurston, head of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., a historically black denomination; the Rev. T. Dewitt Smith, president of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., which was home to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders; and Bishop Phillip Robert Cousin Sr., an A.M.E. clergyman and former NAACP board member.

There are 8 total attendees identified.

Why only release 3 names ? Some embarassing ones ?

What I might have to look at, at work:
A co-worker moonbat and Daiy Kos reader, is looking for the following:
(WARNING: cut and paste from Kos)

Some time ago, in a diary whose identity I've completely forgotten, somebody posted a comment which included a fanatastic picture of Barack and Michelle Obama. It was taken at some sort of rally appearance, and IIRC, it looks like Mrs. Obama is coming on stage to join her husband. They are giving these million-dollar looks of joint admiration, and doing that lighly-touching-outstretched-fists gesture that has the semantics of mutual-support-and-greeting--often employed if someone has just been fouled while sinking a 3 pointer in a NBA game, or just convinced 40,000 people to work their asses off to elect them president between now and November. In context it oozes this "these gorgeous-looking people really have it going on" je ne sais quoi that's so....Obama.

I wanted to get a print of it as something way too cool to be controversial to put outside my office cube wall.

UGGGGH! He is two cubes down from me. And I have to work with him, a McCain poster would probably not be good for me politically.

I hope he never finds it.

if it's not too personal, why Iran?

Not at all, folks were missionaries. Our mission started a orphanage in 1908, all the mission groups got kick out in the '50s. Except ours because we ran one of the only orphanages in the country. In the early '60s the Shah set up the state run orphanages and never got around to revoking the mission's operating permit. We left in '76 intending to go back, but history intervened. We hand people in Iran until '81 when it got to dangerous. More for the people the missionaries contacted than for the missionaries.

Geez, there are a lot of flames in here, and I didn't bring my Johnsonville brats!

Frankly I don't believe for a second that evil conservatives or evil liberals are posting on the opposition sites in some kind of convoluted "False Flag" operation. Its juvenile. and will not change anyone's mind I might add. People believe what the want to believe and it is rare that you will really influence anyone with crap like that. The only ones who are really left to sway are the boobs who aren't paying attention in the first place. If they aren't paying attention, then ergo, they are unlikely to be visiting the sites, right?

My first comment at Dave's site didn't go into moderation or into wait for approval, but my second did. Not sure why, my language was fine, didn't say anything really notable. I copied and pasted my comment here because I have to go to bed and I don't have time to see if it's approved and published. Comments are still appearing, so mine might have been thrown into the wood chipper, in which case here it is:

About: Dave Johnson is a researcher and writer in Redwood City, California. He also blogs at Seeing the Forest. His email address is davej@smellingthecoffee.com

More:

Bio: Dave Johnson is a freelance researcher and writer, and a Fellow at the Commonweal Institute, where he researches and writes about the activities of the conservative movement's network of foundations and think tanks and the extent of their influence on American society. He has investigated and reported on the Right's ongoing attacks on public education and teacher unions, university professors, trial attorneys and the tort legal system, and labor unions.

Dave Johnson is Founder and principal author at Seeing the Forest. He is on the Board of Directors of Media Transparency and The People Choose 2006, is an advisor to The Philanthropy Network and a member of the Netroots Advisory Council of the Drum Major Institute.

What a lame mission in life this guy is on. He spends all day thinking about the monsters under his bed. At his network buddy Shawn O Donnel's blog they are pumping Obama and asking people and organizations to flock to my.barackobama.com.

So this paranoid delusional nutjob Dave Johnson and his politically-obsessed friend Shawn O'Donnel and their whacked-out Internet buddies and every other Internet freak go and sign up at my.barackobama.com! Am I getting this right? Now Dave Johnson is blaming LGF?

I just used Google for 30 seconds and I found a better conspiracy connection between crazy Dave/Shawn O'Donnell/my.barackobama.com than Dave had in the way of facts in attacking LGF.

Let's remember again: It's Dave's job to play around on the Internet, be a paranoid delusional political nutjob, and have nightmares about right wing boogeymen.

It's nothing you couldn't find within the first two hits at Google searching for his name and location.

re: #137 hermeneutics

Conservatives get a much more effective education at American Universities. They are challenged and must defend ideas which do not meet with automatic approval and reinforcement.

Election night in northern Virginia!
CD 8- Jim Moran handily (86%) wins the Democratic primary, against an opponent who thougt he was not liberal enough.
Republican Mark Ellmore beat a Ron Paul "Republican" 56%-44% .
CD 11, moonbat Leslie Byrne lost to Fairfax Supervisor Gerald Connelly. He'll likely win the open seat that Tom Davis (R) is retiring from.

Well, at least Byrne bit the dust, which is a small consolation. Sigh.

Just who are these oil speculators that are responsible for running up the price of a barrel of oil? Is soros one of them?

Remember when algore was in Saudi Arabia a few years ago, bashing America and Americans, and spewing his global warming venon to the Saudi's, and it was publicly known that he received $250,000.00 for his "speech"?

I'm pretty sure that behind closed doors, algore convinced the Saudi's to slow their production and sales, in order to "stop global warming", knowing that the slow down in production would make oil prices go through the roof, a "win/win" situation for both algore and his global warming crusade and the Saudi's.

algore in Saudi Arabia a few years ago, is one of the main reasons that the Saudi's slowed production, hence the monster oil prices.

I went tip-toeing through some of Dave's archived entries - this gem of knowledge is from November 18, 2004, about the Flat Tax concept:

Suppose you own a corner grocery store. Suppose you buy $80,000 worth of stuff to sell, and sell it for $130,000. Do you pay taxes on $130,000? Or do you "deduct" the $80,000 you paid for the goods you sold, and only pay taxes on the remaining $50,000? If you are allowed to deduct the $80,000 we are right back where we started, with "deductions," and we are back to arguing about what things we can or can not deduct. Tricky.

In the last 2 oil booms, speculators were all over the map. Buying oil while it was still in the ships at sea, with agents seeking prepaid commissions all over the place. Then it collapsed in part because the Texas fields became profitable again. To ensure this does not happen, the Democrats and McCain have stopped all oil and gas development in America.

Sharmuta (#427),

I saw you and a few others asking for some proof of his conclusions and all you got was "Stupid is as stupid does. You truly have a mental disorder"?

That's pretty damn juvenile even for such a lightweight "investigator" as Dave.

Has Barack H. Obama produced his birth certificate yet?

Forgers are working as we speak. Is it possible he will have to produce it? I mean, some one could claim to have been born anywhere.
Back when I was a kid and sent in for my Social(ist) Sucker Card, I put my nickname rather then my birth name. Didn't catch it until I was 40. By the same token, my father was born Benjamin Robert, but was always called Robert Benjamin. He didn't know he was Ben until social security denied him, and when He died, half the people who wanted to come spit on his grave had no clue he was dead.

Possible but unlikely. Connelly got re elected easily as county board chair last year after a lot of speculation that an anti- illegal -immigrant backlash might beat him. He is pretty popular in Fairfax.

re: #491 newsjunkie_ky

I'm a dunce on stocks. Does this mean Wall Street is directly responsible?

Well, there are hedge funds all over the world. Some are US based, many are in Europe, Asia, etc. In addition there is also the bothersome fact of supply versus demand. The economies of the two most populous countries in the world (India and China) are expanding at an incredible rate, with expanding middle classes. All of this equals an exponential increase in demand for petroleum based fuels. But as far as who is doing the speculating, for the most part it is the hedge funds operating in the futures markets. All completely legal, but having obvious effects. Same goes with other commodities such as wheat, rice, etc.

re: #361 unrealizedviewpoint

Quoting for Purple Prose

Thanks. This is plausible. Matt Drudge himself has probably not been that involved directly for years, although one would assume the content would still be largely guided by his general instructions and would be checked by him regularly. However, this explanation makes sense to explain the drift of the site toward the Left (opposing the normal political drift of people as they age). On the other hand, the site has always had as much garbage tabloid links as it has had substantive links, so maybe the site has been responding to the prevailing wind, which at one time wanted dirt on Bill Clinton but now wants "change." Or maybe it's multiple factors.

At any rate, it's undeniable that there was an anti-Hillary and pro-Obama bent to the site during the primaries. At the same time, I've noticed more and more anti-Bush, anti-Israel and similar types of links in the last half-year. So I'd conclude that there is a shift, although I don't know the reason why. Here they conflate the Drudge Report with Matt Drudge himself:

[Link: www.politico.com...]

But tfk may be right. At any rate, I don't think it is in any real way a site that is a counterweight to the Leftist media out there anymore.

Well, I'm not going to make a big deal out of the link to Daily Kos. Not worth the trouble, and I suppose there are actually some people who will think it's a good idea and applaud McCain for it.

(Those would be the people who don't know what actually goes on at Daily Kos.)

It's all this wishy-washying of your electoral message to reach 'independent' voters, or voters 'on the fence'.

This kind of campaigning paradigm has been driving voter turnout lower and lower since the end of the 9th century. Before then, candidates running for office used to be fiery and unapologetic about their views, because they wanted to rally up their base. Political parties offered people a choice, not just an echo. Voter turnout in elections was 80%-90%.

Let McCain reach out to the far loony Left, water down his positions to make them palatable to the 'independent voter', or to the 'voter on the fence', and let's see if he will ever remember what his original unmitigated positions were to begin with.

I couldn't get back on that site last night, so I'm just reading some of the comments now (at the end of my lunch break).

I like Watcher's comment: "That's nothing. Rev. Wright's speeches were written by LGF. All of them. I have it on good authority."

LOL.

Of course, there are excellent comments by other lizards, too. Well done, folks.
