So, it's been a year since Hamas took to the rooftops and tossed Fatah to the curb - literally and figuratively - in Gaza.

What do the Palestinians have to show for that?

Nothing.

Okay, that's not entirely true. They have a whole lot of blown up buildings, dead terrorists, and an economy whose primary export is suicide bombers and kassam rockets and mortars that slam into Israel on a regular basis.

Who to blame for all this? Well, MSNBC would love it if you blame anyone but Hamas and the Palestinians who not only put up with the terrorists, but who openly embraced them. No, the media would much rather you blame Israel for the ongoing violence.

Linky? What happened?

72 Bob in Breckenridge  Fri, Jun 13, 2008 11:31:33am

There recently was a death of a 98 year old lady named Irena.

During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist.

She had an ulterior motive... She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German).

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of her tool box she carried, and she carried in the back of her truck a Burlap sack, (for larger kids).

She also had a dog in the back, that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in, and out of the ghetto.

The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time and course of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants.

She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, and arms, and beat her severely.

She kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out, and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard.

After the war, she tried to locate any parents who may have survived it, and reunited the family.

Most of course had been gassed.

Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes, or adopted.

Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize....

She LOST.

Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming. Check it out:

Some of the detainees will not be accepted back by their native countries.

I have a handy dandy guide for posting on the 'net.

First - don't let it get personal.
Second - don't badmouth someone behind their back. It isn't right, and it's duplicitous.
Third - Iron Fist rule (drinking and posting don't always go together).
Fourth - posting in anger isn't a good idea (flame wars and worse have started that way).
Fifth - when posting comments on someone else's site, remember that you're their guest, and they can run things the way they want. If you want to run things the way you want, get your own blog.

I'm sure there are others, but those three will do anyone well...

The New Air & Space Museum, Baltimore, NYC, Battle of Monmouth re-enactment are on the plan. This will be the first time in 5+ years that I've had a week off in the summer.

Sound great - have a good time!

re: #199 Happy Fun Ball,

L³eftists require scrupulous self-criticism from the Right. We aren't supposed to simply give our opinions, we have to give their opinions as well. This is doublely true when we are criticizing them. If we don't have rigorous self-criticism both before and after we criticize them, we are immediately labeled hypocrits, and can be dismissed if we can't be shamed into cooperation.

The anti-Semitism at Barack Obama's website is a case in point. we found dozens, if not hundreds of examples of it at Obama's site. Not just comments, but blog posts and groups. Things moderators should have seen. Not to mention amature hour level security.

Well, the L³eftists expect us to not say a word until we have thoroughly searched everything at McCain's site in case there might be a hurtful comment. Presumably they found something, although I, myself haven't seen it. To L³eftists, it is hate speech not to agree with every statement that the Obamessiah grants us the privilege of hearing, so I can imagine what they "found".

Anyway, it boils down to Obama doesn't need an excuse. Republicans are worse.

It is all the L³eft has.

A perspective on heavy rain from Milwaukee Journal:

Staggering amounts of rain have fallen on southern Wisconsin in recent days. Some places saw more than 6 inches in 24 hours Thursday.

To put that into perspective, an inch of rain falling on 1 acre of ground is equal to about 27,154 gallons and weighs about 113 tons, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Multiply that over thousands of acres and you get an idea of how much water southern Wisconsin has been dealing with this month.

Hitchcock was much more tense than the crop of slice and dice from the 70s on.
Shamalan is following well.

Hostel, Saw, Halloween 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,..406 are basically slice and dice takeoffs on the original Texas Chain Saw massacre. Elm St series has some great b movie stuff from the 50s and 60s. Whatever happened to Baby Jane and the original Hill House?

Did the guy from Halloween beat the guy from Elm St?

My personal list of favorite horror films.

1. "The Thing" by john Carpenter, from the short story "Who Goes There".
2. "The Alien", the book and the movie.
3. "Aliens". (full of good quotes).
You may notice a pattern, extreme violence, a good story, and good special effects, high intensity suspense.

A Post Turtle Named Obama

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old New Mexico rancher, whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a Conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.

The old rancher said,

'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'post turtle'.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said,

'When you're driving down a country road and you
Come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain.

'You know the turtle didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there to begin with.'

WHERE IS THE PRIDE IN HIS 'WHITE HERITAGE'? (A MOTHER WHO FLAUNTED CONVENTION AND DID NOT BELIEVE IN GOD).

SOME MIGHT THINK THERE WAS NOT MUCH TO BE PROUD OF EITHER WAY.

HE BELONGS, AND HAS BELONGED FOR OVER 20 YEARS, TO AN 'AFRO-CENTRIC' CHURCH IN CHICAGO THAT HATES WHITES, HATES JEWS, AND BLAMES AMERICA FOR ALL THE WORLD'S PERCEIVED FAULTS. (INCLUDING CREATING THE AIDs VIRUS IN ORDER TO INFLICT IT ON AFRICANS).

HE REPEATEDLY WHITEWASHES THE PASTOR, HIS CHURCH AND THE MEMBERS WHO CHEERED AFTER HEARING VITRIOLIC TIRADES AGAINST AMERICA .

HE COULD NOT CONFRONT HIS PASTOR BUT HE WANTS US TO BELIEVE HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN ?
YEAH RIGHT ! !

DURING HIS VERY BRIEF TIME IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE HE HAS MANAGED TO AMASS THE NUMBER ONE ULTRA LIBERAL VOTING RECORD OUT OF THE ONE HUNDRED MEMBERS.

HE HAS VOTED CONSISTENTLY FOR BIGGER GOVERNMENT AND HIGHER TAXES. HE HAS VOTED FOR BIG ENTITLEMENTS AND LEGISLATION THAT WOULD SEVERELY CURTAIL AMERICA 'S ABILITY TO FIGHT TERRORISM AND TO PROTECT OUR BORDERS AND OUR NATIONAL INTERESTS AROUND THE WORLD.

BUT, HE IS A GOOD ORATOR. ISN'T THAT A COMFORT?

YEAH, I THINK I SEE HOW WELL HE COULD UNITE THE COUNTRY.

I THINK THE TRUTH IS THAT HE HOPES NO ONE WILL PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO OUR NEW CHIEF PILOT.HE HAS NEVER FLOWN AN AIRPLANE, IN FACT HE HAS NEVER EVEN SAT IN THE COCKPIT, BUT HE SAYS HE HAS RIDDEN ON PLANES BEFORE. WE ARE SURE HE WILL GUIDE US SAFELY THROUGH THE STORMS WE MAY ENCOUNTER ON THIS FLIGHT.

PEOPLE WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD THE STORY ABOUT THE WOLF HIDING IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING SO HE CAN DESTROY THEM FROM WITH-IN ? THE HAND WRITING IS ON THE WALL, DO YOU NOT HAVE EYES TO SEE IT ?

THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE YOU VOTE FOR THIS GUY! CONSIDER YOUR KIDS & GRANDKIDS

Heh. The Shining.

I have seen scarier movies, but I have never enjoyed a "horror" movie more. You see, I was 17 and took this REALLY cute gal with a turned-up nose ("Cathi" with the "i" and everything) and during the whole "bathtub scene" she was muttering "dontgetupdontgetupdontgetup" and when the nekkid lady turned into a rotten corpse she SCREAMED and jumped into my lap (literally).

Ah, good times, good times...

Luap Nor's been drooping for years, but it's just old age in his case, and would be rude to point it out.

I worked at a large slaughter house when in college, we used "stunners" but they fired a rod about 1 1/2" through the skull. They did not use high pressure gas, they used a .32 or.38 blank for power if I recall correctly. Seems like the gas would be messy, but maybe faster, as reloading would not be required. They could easily knock 1200 head per 8 hour shift with the stunners we used however.
