The Sordid History of the Islamic Saudi Academy

Fri, Jun 13, 2008 at 2:51:37 pm PDT

Patrick Poole has a good piece on the Islamic Saudi Academy in Fairfax, Virginia, in the news recently for the radical Islamic ideology they’re teaching children. But the story is actually a lot worse than it first appears: What Virginia’s Islamic Academy Doesn’t Want You to Know.

The Islamic Saudi Academy in Fairfax County, Virginia, is funded by the Saudi government and operates as an arm of the Saudi Embassy. It has been in the news this week following a report issued by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which found that textbooks used by the academy are filled with incitements to violence and racial and religious bigotry.

Missing in most of the national establishment media coverage of the story, however, is the raid on the school last month by state authorities after academy officials failed to report a five-year-old student’s claims of sex abuse by a parent and later attempted to eliminate any traces of the report.

According to a local news report [video] on June 3, the female student reported her claims to her teachers, and a report on the matter was drawn up by the teachers and the school’s principal and submitted to administrators. But when the allegations reached the desk of school director Abdullah Al-Shabnan, he didn’t believe the girl and failed to report the sex abuse claims to law enforcement within the 72 hours required by state law.

Apparently tipped off on a cover-up, law enforcement authorities raided the school on May 23 to seize computers and look for evidence after Al-Shabnan ordered the original report deleted from school computers.

Just three days before the raid, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to renew the academy’s lease of county property, ignoring multiple reports of the school’s promotion of violence and hatred.

It's not surprising. To an islamist, this girl is guilty and should be punished.

Fairfax County is ahead of the curve when it comes to dhimmitude. They are also ahead of the curve with sanctuary cities.

This would never be tollerated with a Christian school.

I didn't know secular law enforcers had any right to come onto a Muslim school's grounds to check on the legal doings on campus!
That would never happen if the school declared itself a part of dar al islam.

The Bush administration considers the Saudi government to be one of our allies in the War on Terror, and that support extends to the Islamic Saudi Academy as well. Cinnamon Stillwell recently noted an article in the Mount Vernon Gazette that reported 22 soldiers from Ft. Belvoir had recently graduated from the Islamic Saudi Academy’s “Arabic as a Second Language” program. This means that the school is not only being funded by the Saudi government, but also our own government. Deputy Assistant Secretary of The Army Dr. Lynn Heirakuji and the U.S. Army’s Deputy Assistant for Foreign Languages Erol Smith attended the graduation ceremonies.

That people further away from you geographically and culturally are truly closer to you than the family you live with if your family does not believe.
That one should never establish a close and trusted friendship with a non-Muslim.

Ninth and twelfth grade curricula heavily emphasize the concept of Jihad, of holy war, and the obligation to fight and destroy the enemy and the non-Muslim. There are no grey areas in Saudi schools, it is all black and white and it is all reinforced in classroom assignments, papers and homework.

88 Eowyn2  Fri, Jun 13, 2008 3:15:17pm

By next Friday, the current administrators will be 'chastised' back to Saudi Arabia and a new administration will be put in place. Textbooks will be editted to exclude some of the worst passages. Those passages will then become approved but not required "supplemental materials" which the parents will pay for so that the kids can get a's in all of their classes

Where is our normally-overreactive child protective services in all this? Are they even taking care of the girl?

Of all the things I hate about Islam as it appears to be practiced today, this is the thing I hate worst: what appears to be a laissez-faire attitude toward an endemic issue with incestuous rape and abuse. I don't say this often, but the people who do this, enable it, and cover it up should burn in hell forever.

103 Racer X  Fri, Jun 13, 2008 3:19:28pm
But when the allegations reached the desk of school director Abdullah Al-Shabnan, he didn’t believe the girl and failed to report the sex abuse claims to law enforcement within the 72 hours required by state law.

I'm just wondering - what are the criminal consequences of failing to file a report of sexual abuse?

And isn't covering up the report a crime as well?

Would a religious school administrator of a different persuasion be even granted bail?

104 opnion  Fri, Jun 13, 2008 3:19:46pm

re: #82 The Other Les

Our laws must be enforced. When the crime involves a child there is simply no excuse for the failure to enforce. If they insist on believing that our laws, which they denounce as man made, do not apply to them then let them appeal to Allah for their salvation from human justice.

(sound of silence)

Well said. If the laws are enforced unevenly, enforced on most, but not on Muslims, the laws lose credibility & therefore respect
We should not be a timid host. It is in the best interest of all that we insist that our laws and customs be respected.

re: #86 Behead Me Bob

Under Sharia Law, a woman needs 4, yes 4, Muslim male witnesses to prove rape.

Surely, the Muslims won't be subjected to the indignity of the Infidel's legal system.

Here's 50 Things Muslims Don't Want People to Know.

You know, I have read the bit of the koran that this comes from. The way the story goes is that someone came to mohamed claiming that Aisha, his favorit wife, was essentially fooling around on him. He didn't want to get rid of her, so he said that there had to be four witnesses to prove that she was fooling around.

Now, I guess I don't understand things to well, but what this says to me is that according to the koran as written, those who want to prove that a woman has been "monkeying around" need four witnesses to the event, not that the woman who has been raped needs four witnesses.

Go figure.

164 jcm  Fri, Jun 13, 2008 3:36:41pm

It's real simple.

Religious tolerance works both ways.

This country was founded in large by those seeking religious freedom.
All religions are welcome here, in exchange we ask two things. You practice within the norms of our society, and you tolerate all the religions.

If you cannot do those two things, your religion is not compatible with a free society and does not belong here.

This is eerily similar to a Catholic Church that we used to attend & where my daughter actually went to grade school.
The associate pastor really liked the little 7th & 8th grade girls
I mean he really like them & got one pregnant as a high school freshman.
A teacher blew the whistle & you guessed it, end of carrer at the school.
The good news is that the preist went to jail

I wonder if they teach stuff like this:

JUDAISM MAGEN DAVID ORIGINATED IN OTHER CIVILIZATIONS

CAIRO, June 9 - Judaism's most famous symbols, Magen David and Menorah, were originated in other cultures and have nothing to do with the Jews, said an Egyptian archaeologist. According to Abdul-Rehim Rihan, head of Dahab Antiquities, some of the antiquities unearthed in Sinai Peninsula revealed that the Star of David was created as an Islamic decoration.

[Link: www.ansamed.info...]

You want proof you say. Here it is in impeccable Islamic logic:

The six-pointed star was found at the entry of Al-Gundi fort, founded by Saladin from 1183 to 1187 along the military route connecting the Suez and Aqaba gulfs.

Ignorance knows no bounds and the depths to which the moslems will sink to steal other's culture have not been plumbed.

If your culture is incapable of creating anything of value on its own, theft becomes an honorable profession (and there are more justifications for theft in the Koran than in any printed materials outside the tax code).

A mother's decision to take her young sons boating with a male stranger on the swift-running Nisqually River on Thursday has left the 5-year-old son dead, the 9-year-old son missing and their father - a soldier serving in Iraq - with no children.

[Link: www.msnbc.msn.com...]

OCEANSIDE, Calif. - On a Monday morning last month, highway patrol officers visited 20 classrooms at El Camino High School to announce some horrible news: Several students had been killed in car wrecks over the weekend.

Classmates wept. Some became hysterical.

A few hours and many tears later, though, the pain turned to fury when the teenagers learned that it was all a hoax — a scared-straight exercise designed by school officials to dramatize the consequences of drinking and driving.

With teenagers, turnabout is fair play. I wonder what some of those kids have planned for the perps.............

I dont recall ever being convinced, so easily and so fast about any specific issue.
Using the incidentals he brought up, and the answers the women gave, I cry Bullshit on the hysteria about it teaching Wahabism. That a school has a textbook in which the quotes he gave were excepted proves nothing. Wouldnt we want to see the context in which that book was used?
Never mind a former valedictorian may have become a terrorist.

This situation, which really could have happened in any school, public or parochial, about the five year old, aside; how about let's keep our heads and worry about the REAL Islamic Terror cells/groups, which seem to be in every midwestern city of any size.

You can't have intercourse with her, but "thighing" (stimulating oneself on the thighs of the girl) is permitted. I believe that would be considered molestation under most state statutes.
