The Never-Ending Farce

Sat, Jun 14, 2008 at 10:46:27 am PDT

Reuters reports that the result of the Gaza truce talks will be known soon.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The outcome of negotiations on a Gaza ceasefire between Hamas Islamists and Israel will be known “in the near term,” an Israeli official involved in the talks said on Saturday.

In other news, Lucy yanked the football out from under Charlie Brown just as he was about to kick it, much to Charlie’s surprise.

Peace to a civilized person is the absence of barbarians.

To put it another way. The so-called Palestinians are the descendants of conquerors and quislings. They have absolutely no valid claim on the land they occupy at all. And now it's time for them to either submit to the laws of a civilized nation or just go away.

One side wants a cease fire because they want to spend just another day not thinking about war, enjoying a beer at the beach.

The other side wants a cease fire to rearm and train and prepare to murder the other side.

I wonder how this cease fire will turn out.

On the other hand, I know it's useless to try to convince them of anything... so I know it would be a futile effort.

The remnants in Gaza were "settlements" too. Have the Left noticed? Given Israel credit? Or do they hate Israel even more?

Was was the obstacle to peace prior to 1967?

Left means always finding another grievance and never acknowledging the previous one was proved wrong.

It is the most dangerous delusion to believe there is anything, anything at all, that Israel can do for Arab/Left acceptance. Short of dying.

Agreed. But it's sad when you're so close to convincing an otherwise reasonable person of the truth, and they latch onto the settlements as the explanation.

I'm not talking about a fanatical anti-israeli, I'm talking about otherwise reasonable people who just don't know enough about the conflict. They fall for the "if they are hated so much, there MUST be a reason for it" way-of-thinking and that reason usually ends up being the Settlements.

Which is why I have the above sentiment. It would be nice to be able to prove once-and-for-all to the actual moderates, or those without opinions, that settlements are not the root cause. It's just that I know how useless it would be to even try.

Boy, that was fast. Maybe a World Record for parroting a terrorist by an affirmative action beneficiary.

Rice: Continued settlement construction a 'problem'

As Rice arrived in Israel late Saturday, she appeared more exasperated with the Israeli construction than she has in past condemnations of announcements of building plans that have often come just before or after her visits in the past year and a half of her peace mission.

[Story was edited after Rice arrived in Israel]

Anyone know if Rice ever gets "exasperated" by anything the barbarians do? Stuff like murder, bombings, rocketing, incitement to hatred, anything?
