I was at Wal-Mart earlier in the week, and they actually had American Flags made in the USA! What a concept!

It's also clever that the flag prices are in shekels.

Do you think they have Bush effigies for Christmas time? I imagine the Blair effigies would be marked down at least 75%, right?

This Christmas, they'll be at a premium, since he'll be ex- President Bush in a few weeks. I'd stock up now if I were you, Mohammed. Well, if I were you...Never mind.

I don't know about premium. To me this is like when an athlete leaves a sports team; the jersey with the name on the back just isn't worth as much. Why rage against the has-been President?

Now, since Hamas has endorsed Obama (retraction was a ruse for the MSM) will Obama ever be burned in effigy when he is President? Will President Obama agree to meet with these people without preconditions?

re: #27 Bob in Breckenridge

/Channeling Radar O'Reilly (Okay, so it was a lamb. Sue me...)

Disclaimer: In case anyone did not understand what I meant by that joke, there was an episode of MASH where the cooks were going to slaughter a lamb supplied by Greek Army guys, and Radar had it shipped home rather than have it be served for dinner. I in no way condone the slaughter of lambs or goats for dinner. Thank you, and have a nice day.

No big deal. Some things I said on some previous threads were taken out of context, but it was partially my fault.

I think that there are many who don't understand context. No worries Bob...

46 brainwizard73  Sat, Jun 14, 2008 9:10:12pm

Does the New York location stock flags for Americans to burn...like Iran's flag?

If not that is stupid. They are missing out on a real growth market.

I think you may have one of those rare senses of humor that very few people understand. I understood what you were saying, thought it was funny. I suffer from the same affliction, as does Dennis Miller.

Yes. 5 of them.

Hey, McCain's on SNL... He's an unexpectedly funny dude.

Agreed. This isn't the first time he has been on SNL, and this isn't the first time he has been really, really funny. He needs to do this type of stuff more often. All of those stupid academics out there who are predicting a '60-esque match-up (RE: Kennedy v. Nixon), I am convinced, have no idea what they are talking about when I see stuff like that.

GO MAC, GO!

52 Cognito  Sat, Jun 14, 2008 9:19:36pm

Ah, nevermind... it's a rerun of McCain's last appearance on SNL. I didn't realize he'd done two skits.

Still, pretty funny.

You know, honestly, I've been told that. I thought Miller was the greatest announcer on Monday Night Football. But you had to listen to what he said to catch his humor. Same thing with his radio show these days. But thanks. A few understood I was joking and that I never served on the USS Stennis when it was stationed in the USSR.

59 DeathtotheSwiss  Sat, Jun 14, 2008 10:03:18pm

Ahhh very Monty Python. I heard the Germans loved that show.

Since Charles hasn't indulged my every whim, I'm wondering if I could interest anyone in some science debate resources. This time it's global warming, I'm just saying, arm yourselves for the next big argument at one of my favorite websites.

[Link: climatedebatedaily.com...]

Both guys who run this website are awesome. I had written and asked a question and the Doctor (of philo) who agreed with man-made global warming wrote me back and was both polite and logical. He runs it with another soon-to-be doctor (of philo) who thinks that global warming is not man-made. Very neat and organized, updated frequently.

You don't want to be left in the cold when the global warming debate starts...do you?

67 000G  Sun, Jun 15, 2008 12:36:21am

I wonder if any foreigner (speaking from a German point of view) got the reference to Trigema, a sports-wear manufacturer who has aired this cheap and silly advertisment for years and years, on prime time TV no less (despite its cheap looks).

Other than being a cultural smartass: I bet that sketch came from Extra 3, the satire show of the government funded NDR. Any idea if this is correct? I used to love them back in the day, maybe I should start watching again.

I thought the video was brilliant!

Some WWII German comedy:

In the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, Goering had been seriously injured in the groin, giving rise to rumors he was sterile.

In 1938 his wife Emmy was pregnant.

Werner Finck, a comedian, joked that if the child was male, they should name it Hamlet: "Sein oder nicht sein, das ist der frage" or "To be or not to be, that is the question". However, "sein" in German can mean either "to be" or "his".
