I was watching the Tony Awards tonight (celebrating Broadway). Whoopi Goldberg was the host. Unfortunately she slammed Clarence Thomas. In introducing the play "Thurgood" she called Thurgood the only black Supreme Court justice. Then she laughed it off and said "Oh I forgot, I forgot".

Let’s play a game. Since Fox also keeps putting the grizzled old Jew-hater Pat Buchanan in front of the cameras, what would be a good name for a show featuring Buchanan and Beckel? Now that would be must-see TV - for Neanderthals.

How about Bombast & Bullshit With Buchanan & Beckel?  I think it has a lovely ring to it.

Contents of Oregon's mystery safe revealed

Remember that old safe that was found not so long ago, deep in the bowels of a fish cannery in Astoria?

Plenty of people speculated about what might be inside, even as a locksmith had to be called in to crack the code.

Was it gold, emeralds, diamonds, rubies or just stacks of cash?

Turns out, it was none of the above.

Chris Rock explains economics and war at Bonnaroo

On the same stage Friday night, Chris Rock played to one of the largest rooms a comedian will ever work. As many as 60,000 of the estimated 80,000 in attendance watched him command the crowd with a relentless pace and sharp observations.

Rock, of course, had barbs for the presumed presidential nominees, John McCain and Barack Obama — who he said has a name so black-sounding that he could be "the bass player for the Commodores."

The comedian wondered how gas prices could be so high considering the Iraq war: "Let me tell you something. If I invade IHOP, pancakes are going to be cheaper in my house."

re: #110 A Kiwi Infidel

Congrats from NZ, some good news, just wait till they grow up and start playing with matches or driving cars.

Yep, I have been told by those more experienced than I to enjoy them when they are small and don't talk back.

I intend to take that advice...

re: #99 psyop

BTW, not alot of you saw my earlier open post about my wife and her impending delivery of our second child, but.....

She Did It! Pushed out all 8 lbs 8 ozs of him (in 32 minutes). 10 Fingers, 10 Toes, 1 heart (in the right place).

I am one proud papa (for the second time).

As I said when my daughter was born: "We can start the party now. Everybody's here."

Congratulations Daddy.

Speakers of "crackers", I was going to post a nice shot of your local plumber dealing with the sink problem but this plumber took my eye and I am sure you will agree, this cracker has to better than your common garden sweaty pommy plumber? Hmm?

And also, I already have his first rifle picked out.

Never mind his rifle. Beware of his water cannon at diaper changing time.

One of my favorite things is sitting in the recliner, with the little one laying on my chest going to sleep. Tired my boys out, playing outside, the fell asleep on me in the recliner tonight, they are 4 and 3 years old.

Excellent...

My daughter is 2, and precocious. It is few and far between that she would deign to sit on daddy's lap and snuggle, but I will take the moments I get.

As for the 5 day old, he pretty much has no choice but to snuggle.

LOL, got a little girl 18 months, she's "opinionated" she snuggles on her terms.

My son just celebrated his first Father's Day (baby boy born 10-17-07), and he couldn't have been more thrilled. They spent the day at the Oakland zoo. It's a funny feeling seeing one's child become a parent, but he's a damn good daddy!

Hey and f%^$# Beckel for the cracker comment and this one really goes over the top.

"If Israel had never come into existence, or if the United States had not supported it, or if Kennedy had not reaffirmed that support, Sirhan would probably never have pulled his trigger"

WTF?

Beckel et al will probably cite this as the opening Republican shot across Bow Obama, and spread the word that it's all one big fear factor.

Fuck you, Bob Beckel.

I while back I watched him "debate" a Hillary supporter. If he had spoken to me like he did her, he'd be missing a lot of teeth. What a subhuman piece of garbage.
He is a liberal fascist who will say and do anything no matter how vile to get into power. With any luck, his efforts will be in vain.

BBC fantasy world: Christian beheads Muslim

No one will take much notice of this. Imagine the outcry, however, if they had dared to depict a Muslim beheading a Christian -- despite the fact that that is much, much more likely to happen than this sick and suicidal Beeb fantasy.

"BBC defends Muslim beheading," from Teletext (thanks to Joel):

Exclusive by Derek Robins - BBC bosses have defended the grisly beheading of a Muslim by a Christian zealot in new drama Bonekickers.

In the bloody scene, ex-EastEnder Paul Nicholls plays a fundamentalist who decapitates a Muslim with a sword.

Producer Rhonda Smith said: "It's not meant to be shocking or to cause offence and it comes very much from the storyline."

Of course!

Britain has become Bizarro world. How sad.

Pardon my ignorance here but, aside from dry biscuits one eats with cheese, I only know of three uses of the word "crackers" a) a derogatory word for white people, used exclusively by black racists b) people who maliciously hack into computer systems c) a quaint adjective for lunacy - as in "Spurs? Win the Premiership? You must be crackers!".

Which connotation did Blob Beckel mean?
