The Truly Amazing Hypocrisy of Bob Beckel

Tue, Jun 17, 2008 at 9:39:14 am PDT

Allahpundit has spliced together Democratic operative Bob Beckel’s first statement promoting the “whitey tape” hoax on Fox News, with his subsequent statement blaming it all on “crackers” and “right wingers:” Disgrace: Beckel blames right-wing “crackers” for his own Michelle Obama smearmongering.

We need a new word; “brazen” doesn’t even begin to describe this level of dishonesty and sleazy hypocrisy.

Well, it isn't, he's trying to keep up with the democratic yutes on Kos and such.

Reminds me of Mark Shields, liberal talking head on PBS News Hour and various CNN shows. Ten, twelve years ago he was a thoughtful, intelligent guy. Then he got his own CNN show, and mass quantities of Prozac, I suspect, and since has spewed almost nothing but nonsense. Beckel was one of the more thoughtful guys, back in the day, and even up until fairly recently. This is a new guy, a neo, cyber, iBeckel 2.0, with as much brains as your average viral meme.

Without Fox to call him to the carpet, Beckel will get away with reconstructing history. It has almost been forgotten that a left wing Clinton Blogger started this story, apparently made up by himself in a desparate attempt to save Hillary.

Blue moon alert: The Guardian argues Bush improved security

It is not every day that The Guardian publishes a column like this:

For all Bush's verbal infelicity, diplomatic brusqueness, negligence in planning for post-Saddam Iraq, and insouciance regarding standards of due process when prosecuting the war on terror, the world is a safer place for the influence he has exercised.

When Bush ran for president in 2000 he was an isolationist advocate of scaling back America's overseas commitments. But after 9/11, he was right in not interpreting the attack as confirmation that America was stirring up trouble for itself. The theocratic barbarism responsible for the attack on the Twin Towers was driven not by what America and its allies had done, but by what we represented. In the words of Osama bin Laden, illegitimately appropriating for himself the mantel of Islam, "every Muslim, the minute he can start differentiating, carries hate toward Americans, Jew, and Christians".

The most fundamental decision in western security policy in the past seven years has not been the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. It has been the recognition that the most voluble adversaries of western society are not merely a criminal subculture, and still less an incipient liberation movement. Rather, they are a reactionary, millenarian and atavistic force with whom accommodation is impossible as well as intensely undesirable.

The grand strategy pursued by the US under Bush has overestimated the plasticity of the international order, but it has got one big thing right. There is an integral connection between the terrorism that targets western societies and the autocratic states in which Islamist fanaticism is incubated.

What? You see this as a problem? You are so thin skinned.../

Before Oslo I was a pie-in-the-sky peacenik. I was open to giving all of Judea/Samaria and Gaza to the Phakestinians, in turn for peace. I was for giving them weapons and training as I felt it was necessary for their use against their own Terrorists and criminals.

After they tried all this and the weapons, training, and land given to the Phakestinians were instead used to attack Israelis and kill Jews around the world, I realized the errors in my naivete.

Well 15 years of continuous violence and chaos from the Phakestinians later (including the most deaths of Israelis than any other time in their History) I have learned my lesson! I can only hope that the Israeli Government does too.

The fact that they most recently tried this "train and give land" farce in 2005 and things got exceptionally worse since....only adds an exclamation mark to the reality...well at least it should.

A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.

Tell me about it. I've been challenging just one quote from an American film for at least 30 years and the truth is just now - just about - getting out.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed — they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

And in just in case there is anybody out there who does not yet know, the cuckoo clock is in fact a German invention, not Swiss.

Mind you, the "five hundred years of democracy and peace" is also wrong, but who cares.

re: #39 WrathofG-d

We never learn:

In 1984 Mohammed offered his services to the CIA in Cairo station and was stationed in Hamburg Germany. There he "entered a mosque associated with Hezbollah and immediately told the Iranian cleric in charge that he was an American spy assigned to infiltrate the community." The mosque had already been penertrated and his announcement was passed on to the CIA, which, according to Lawrence Wright, "terminated Mohammed" and "sent out cables labeling him highly untrustworthy." By this "time, however, Mohammed was already in California on a visa-waiver program that was sponsored by the agency itself, one designed to shield valuable assets or those who have performed important services for the country." [5]

In America he married an American woman from Santa Clara, California after a 6 week courtship and became a U.S.citizen. [6] He enlisted in the U.S. Army and managed to get stationed at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina until 1989.[1] "His awed superiors found him `beyond reproach` and consistently accomplished.`" [7] According to Cooperative Research, Mohamed was a Drill sergeant at Fort Bragg, and was hired to teach courses on Arabic culture at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center.

In 1988 Mohmmaed informed his superior officers in the U.S. Army that he was taking some leave time to fight Soviets in Afghanistan. "A month later, he returned, boasting that he had killed two Soviet soldiers and giving away as souvenirs what he claimed were their uniform belts." Mohamed's commanding officer, Lt. Col. Robert Anderson

said he wrote detailed reports aimed at getting Army intelligence to investigate Mohamed — and have him court-martialed — but the reports were ignored.

"I think you or I would have a better chance of winning Powerball (a lottery), than an Egyptian major in the unit that assassinated Sadat would have getting a visa, getting to California ... getting into the Army and getting assigned to a Special Forces unit," he said. "That just doesn't happen."

It was equally unthinkable that an ordinary American GI would go unpunished after fighting in a foreign war, he said.

Anderson said all this convinced him that Mohamed was "sponsored" by a U.S. intelligence service. "I assumed the CIA," he said.[8]

Mohammad also took maps and training manuals off base to downsize and copy at Kinko's and used them to write al-Qaeda's multivolume terrorist training guide that became playbook.

Yep. He crapped on the porch and then ran behind the bushes and blamed the "crackers". So pathetic. But because he's a precious democrat - it's a legitimate strategy.

85 lawhawk  Tue, Jun 17, 2008 10:08:49am

Speaking of lies, pants, and honor, the charges against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani were dismissed without prejudice. The Marine Corps Central Command can't be involved should charges be refiled.

For intents and purposes, Chessani's legal ordeal is over.

So, when will the apologies come from Murtha and the other reprehensible types, including Obama who relied on Murtha when talking about the Haditha incident? My guess is a cold day in hell.

re: #86 Ward Cleaver

What concerns me the most is the amount of damage Bush has done to the United States and the Conservative movement in general. As POTUS he is labeled the quintiencial "conservative" and thus gives the entire movement a bad name. Obama is a backlash against Bush formost, but the Dems are labeling everything that Bush did as "the same conservativism since Reagan" (making sure to not let the facts get in the way). Thus because of Bush being called "The Conservative", and the ways that he has actually couched liberal stupidity in Republican clothes (big government, major spending, surrender to Terrorism, etc.) the Republican Party and Conservative Movement is going to suffer for a very long time.

All they have to say to the now young (but won't be for long) voters is: "Do you want another Bush Administration? If not, you vote Democrat".

Bush was not a conservative...but he will be remembered as one.

They will never accept peace, and make it plain that they will never accept peace.

They can only be killed. It really isn't that big a task. It isn't like these folks don't march in protests wearing head rags carrying machineguns and korans. You can pick 'em out of a crowd.

We'll be able to talk peace when all these folks are dead, and only then. Until then, I don't think Israel is really serious about talks. They want to give their enemy too much.

And this has always been my position. When we saw the pullout from Gaza, I was hopeful that something like this was getting ready to take place. I was disappointed.

Not sure because this is UCMJ and not standard criminal law. But, this suggests that the charges filed against Chessani were not appropriate and he can't be charged on those issues again (dereliction of duty btw). Malkin sliced and diced Bob The Behemoth this morning.

MSNBC may well be making a seat warm for him soon. The guy has to go.

Everytime I see M.M. in a video, I can't help but notice her un-professionalism. Don't get me wrong, I like her, but she has a lot of work to do in the professionalism department. She needs to watch the stuttering (um, uh, er), the bad grammer (you know, like) and the rolling of the eyes. She needs to gather her thoughts ahead of time, then she won't be stuck searching for words.

It's a bad habit I come across so often now-a-days, so it's not just her. I just happen to notice it with her, since it seems more pronounced; probably due to her inexperience. I'm sure as she progresses in this business, it will improve. She may want to consider taking some speech lessons in the meantime, though.

In a sense, I'm not so sure that's true. Beckel knows full well that the media will backstop him on any manipulative lie he comes up with, no matter how outrageous. Therefore, I'm not sure how much brazen boldness is really required. It's a lot easier to do when the media across the nation will ram your lie home for you. That TIME Article just pinned the tail on Larry Johnson Charles.
Did they alter the text or is this a different article?

"According to campaign officials, what finally launched Obama into a full rumor counteroffensive was a story that apparently first made a big splash on the Internet in late May in a post by pro-Hillary Clinton blogger Larry Johnson. Quoting "someone in touch with a senior Republican," Johnson claimed that there was a video of Michelle Obama "blasting 'whitey' during a rant at Jeremiah Wright's church."
156 Ariana  Tue, Jun 17, 2008 1:41:24pm

There is an interesting fight going on between the Hillary vs Obama people at Swampland with accusations about the very intriging campaign tactics used this spring. One commenter points out that the TIME article revealed an interesting TIMELINE story conflict about Johnson vs the Obama campaign "texting rebuttals" re when Michelle Obama first responsed to the rumor. This situation started in April among the democrats.
