Barack Obama Has Offended Billions of Muslims

Tue, Jun 17, 2008 at 11:05:28 am PDT

And now the seething starts: Obama’s missteps.

On his first day as the presumptive Democratic candidate for president earlier this month, Barack Obama committed a serious foreign policy blunder. Reciting a litany of pro-Israeli positions at the annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), he avowed: “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.”

In promising U.S. support of Israel’s claims to all of Jerusalem, Obama couldn’t have picked a better way to offend the world’s 325 million Arabs and 1.5 billion Muslims.

Denver PD stocks up on pepper weapon for DNC convention
City orders guns that fire special plastic balls

By Sara Burnett
Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Denver police are stocking up on guns that fire a pepper spray-like substance instead of bullets - a less-lethal weapon used to disperse crowds - in advance of the Democratic National Convention.

The department recently ordered 88 Mark IV launchers and projectiles at a cost "in the low six figures," the company that makes the weapons stated in a news release Monday.

The request was for delivery in advance of the DNC, according to Louisville- based Security With Advanced Technology Inc.

The convention, scheduled for Aug. 25 to 28 at the Pepsi Center, is expected to draw thousands of protesters to sites throughout Denver.

The city received a $50 million federal grant for security. A senior adviser to Mayor John Hickenlooper has said the city plans to spend up to half that amount on equipment, with the rest going to pay officers.

But the city has refused to disclose how it is spending the money, prompting the American Civil Liberties Union last month to file a civil lawsuit.

The court filing alleges the city is violating the Colorado Open Records Act.

City officials say releasing the information is "contrary to the public interest" because it could disclose important tactical information, potentially jeopardizing security.

A city spokesperson could not be reached for comment Monday. Meanwhile, speculation about what the city is buying has run rampant.

Some organizers of protest groups believe police are buying extended-range Tasers and weapons that incapacitate people with high-intensity sound.

The Mark IV weapons the city ordered recently fire plastic balls filled with powder that's "like a combination of cayenne pepper and baby powder," the manufacturer said.

It can be fired from up to 100 feet away, said Ben Cook, director of Veritas, a subsidiary of Security With Advanced Technology.

The balls burst open on impact. While the powder will incapacitate a person like pepper spray, it doesn't cause some of the more severe reactions, Cook said.

Poor guy can't win. Anything he says, and anything he doesn't say, it all offends the world's 1.35 gazillion Muslims, who of course are also offended by any mention of their increasing numbers. (Search on Mark Steyn and Mullah Krekar for details). Welcome to the club. Unless you adopt and adhere to exactly the right brand of Islam, you'll be offensive. And even then, you're offensive, because there are competing strains and everything about the one strain offends the other.

21 hazzyday  Tue, Jun 17, 2008 11:12:10am

If there ever was a religion that needed offending it's Islam. More cartoons. Have to move those zealots out of the vaccuum they live in and get them some actual real religious values that they can be proud of.

No story text, yet...

Now there is.

BAGHDAD — A car bomb tore through a market area in a mainly Shiite neighborhood in Baghdad on Tuesday, killing more than 50 people and wounding dozens, officials said, the deadliest such attack in more than three months.

The attack occurred just before 6 p.m. as the market in the northwestern Hurriyah neighborhood was packed with shoppers preparing for their evening meals.

Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack, but it bore the hallmarks of Al Qaeda in Iraq, which is known to use car bombs and homicide attacks.

These monsters are truly desperate.

(One quibble with Fox; I still dislike their term "homicide attack"/"homicide bombing". It's just stupid.)

From previous thread @ #203,

But John Kerry CAIRS!

John Kerry: Osama Bin Laden Has Habeas Rights?

On a conference call with John Kerry and Richard Clarke, Bill Sammon of the Washington Examiner asked: "They've said if UBL were captured and detained at Gitmo, Obama would want to give him habeas corpus rights. They [the McCain campaign] said that this morning. Would he? In other words should UBL have the same rights that were granted, you know, by the Supreme Court last week to other terrorists?"

Sen. Kerry replied:

Let me answer that on several levels. This is John Kerry. First of all the Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that they have those rights. This is not Barack Obama. This is the Supreme Court of the United States. If John McCain were president, he would have to give them those rights. This is a phony argument. And it is typical of what the Republican playbook is, which is say anything no matter what the other side has said. Just say it. And enough people may believe it unless you folks write the truth and write it boldly and clearly.

When Kerry says that the Supreme Court has "ruled that they have those rights," is Osama bin Laden included in the word "they"? It sure sounded like it to me. Though it would be a lot easier to "write the truth and write it boldly and clearly" if Kerry's grammar were a little clearer.

Who believes anything he says anyway.

For some strange reason that I cannot figure out - lots of people. Don't they see him lying and changing his mind too?

There is a certain irony in all of this. A favorite tactic of the Dems is to portray a Reublican candidate or Republican president as stupid. Just follow the late night comedians for the nightly quip about Bush's stupidity (and does anyone remember Chevy Chase's pratfalling imitation of President Ford)? They're having a tougher time with McCain, so they're working on the addle-pated, "confused" old man variation.

And yet the really stupid one is Obama, the guy who repeatedly has his facts wrong, the guy who supports unhinged clerics and '60's radical has-beens and the guy who constantly has to self-correct and clarify what he said mere moments ago. He sounds like a liberal tape recorder. Today, Rush Limbaugh repeatedly referred to BO as stupid. Hooray.

By definition, he is a Muslim because his father is a Muslim. the Muslim world must come to one of two conclusions

He is an apostate and therefore must die
He is practicing taqiyya and therefore will turn the great satan into part of the Umma in the 4 to 8 years of his presidency because congress and the supreme court will get right on that sharia stuff. When they are "present"

Of course Islam has a claim on Jerusalem, just like it has a claim on kuffar Peoria and Knoxville. To a Muslim, the whole world is waiting to become Muslim: it's just waiting for the jihad.

They're just fond of Jerusalem booty because it's so close to their home dune. Plus, its capture will be a poke in the Jewish eye, and that kind of domination always gets the rageboys particularly excited.

This didn't take long, though technically, the ceasefire doesnt begin till tomorrow;

Three Qassams fired at Negev; no injuries

A spokesman for the Islamic Jihad's military wing said that, "Israeli crime will not be ignored," and that “the Zionist enemy wants to show that it wants a ceasefire when it has the upper hand," but that his organization will not allow Israel's activities to go unnoticed.

Several hours after the strikes Palestinians fired three Qassams toward the western Negev city of Sderot. No injuries or damage were reported.

Earlier a mortar fired from Gaza landed in a Negev kibbutz. No injuries were reported in that attack either.

Plus, note its Islamic Jihad. Hamas can always claim they are abiding by the ceasefire whil IJ can step up their attacks.

The explanation about how the West Bank can't be occupied is funny too. The whole thing is just delightful.

When you speak THEIR language it just hits harder. Like when my MIL came to visit and we took her to some Iranian shops. She was chatting with the storekeepers about all the things she hadn't seen since childhood, sweets, teas, etc.., in fluent Farsi of course. They looked kind of puzzled and asked why she hadn't been 'back home' and she let it rip.

re: #203 WriterMom

The facts are that he is 100% correct. you cannot "occupy" the land of a people that do not exist, a people who do not have any greater claim to that land. If Israel is occupying anyones land it would have been Jordan and Egypt but they gave up all authority to the land in 1967. This is when it became, either dual claimed, or DISPUTED LAND.

I am sure you know the facts, but its great to see someone actually bringing up the TRUTH for once. I wish this was the way that all pro-Israel supporters expressed themselves.

re: #212 yma o hyd

Yes these are the facts.

I often wonder why then it is that the Israeli Government, etc., don't emphasize these TRUTHS but instead argue based on the Arabs false presumptions. Ie: they argue how to end the "occupation" instead of stating that there is no "occuapation". They argue how they are going to give the land back, without discussing how there is noone to give the land "back" to.

If they stuck with the facts, they would be in a better position to force the Phakestinians to accept the reality that they didn't lose their homes, Israel didn't kick them off their land, Jews have a right to live in Israel, and thus we could actually accomplish peace.

Not all Muslims are offended by Obama...

Ayham Alsammarae, Iraq’s slimy ex-Minister of Electricity under the Bremer and Allawi administrations, who had escaped from an Iraqi prison by hiring an American security company to break him out back in December 2006, has resurfaced in the Jordanian capital Amman where he gave a press conference today saying, among other things, that he hoped that the insurgency in Iraq “would continue [against U.S. occupation] and avenges the Iraqi people.”

Alsammarae, an Iraqi-American Chicagoan, added during remarks carried by Radio Sawa (Arabic link) that he had contributed the maximum allowable of $2,300 to Barack Obama’s campaign. But there’s another Obama link to Alsammarae: while serving as electricity minister Alsammarae had been involved in brokering deals in the Iraqi electricity sector for Antoin Rezko, Obama’s long-term friend and patron. Rezko is the Syrian-American hustler who was convicted of fraud in an Illinois court on the day that Obama secured the Democratic nomination.

Alsammarae also contributed $1.9 million to Rezko to help with his legal costs. Too bad Rezko was convicted anyway.

From the cited SFGate op-ed:

Why should any American presidential aspirant promote ethno-religious supremacy in Israel? Don't we see a "Christian state" or a "Muslim state" as inherently discriminatory? Why don't we recognize the same in Israel's quest to be ordained a "Jewish state?"

Well, when the Pope allows a synagogue or mosque to be constructed in Vatican City and the King of Saudi Arabia allows a synagogue or church to be built in his country (never mind allowing a non-Muslim merely to enter Mecca or Medina), we'll talk about what's inherently discriminatory. Hell, even the UK has an established church that makes it a Christian state under its laws.

It seems that only the Jews are held to a standard that prohibits a state religion in their homeland. Of course, the rights of Muslims in Israel are not only light-years ahead of the rights of Jews in Arab and Muslim states (I'd be curious to know if the op-ed writer has called for the abolition of the countries that make up the OIC), but they are far ahead in most respects of the rights of ordinary Muslim citizens in many Arab and Muslim dictatorships.

Did I just hear Rage Boy scream, "God Ddddammn AmeriKKKA!"
Oh, Oh, that must have happened cause the Obamanation just said,
"That isn't the Rage Boy, I've come to know over the past five years!"
Honestly, a little OT, powerlineblog.com has the following interesting news with respect to how the Obamanation views the WoT. Will it come as any surprise that it's Clintonlite (Janet Reno in charge):

Yesterday, in an interview with ABC's Jake Tapper, Barack Obama reinforced the perception that as President he would return to the Clinton administration's policy of fighting terrorism only with law enforcement tools. I think that's a reasonably fair inference, as Obama held up the Clinton administration's response to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center as a model:

[L]et's take the example of Guantanamo. What we know is that, in previous terrorist attacks -- for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center, we were able to arrest those responsible, put them on trial. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated.
And the fact that the administration has not tried to do that has created a situation where not only have we never actually put many of these folks on trial, but we have destroyed our credibility when it comes to rule of law all around the world....

If Obama really meant to suggest that we should follow the criminal prosecution only policy in response to future terrorist attacks, it suggests an ignorance of history--very recent history--analogous to his holding up John Kennedy's 1961 summit with Nikita Khrushchev as a model of diplomacy. The McCain campaign was quick to pounce. Earlier today, they held a telephone press conference. Jim Woolsey, who was CIA Director at the time of the 1993 bombing, said:

I want to stress that the approach that Senator Obama is suggesting, that we do everything through the law enforcement system, is precisely what failed in the 1990s.
I was director of central intelligence for the first two years of the first Clinton administration. And, of course, just a few months into that, we had the first World Trade Center bombing.

And the administration proceeded with an almost complete law enforcement focus. It did not work.

We were able, after I left in '95, in '96, it was at least possible to indict Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, because of his involvement with the Bojinka plot to blow up American airliners over the Pacific, and actually it also included plans to assassinate President Clinton and Pope John Paul II. But he continued to, although under indictment, to plot murder and mayhem.

And then Osama bin Laden himself was indicted in '98. That was, however, before the bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and before the bombing of the USS Cole, and before 9/11.

The criminal justice -- totally criminal justice approach to dealing with international terrorists, particularly when they are suicidal and are able to pull off plots like 9/11, has not worked. It was tried for essentially eight years, from the first year of the first Clinton administration up until 9/11, during the first year of the first Bush administration.

It was a miserable failure.

The McCain campaign also pointed out that one of the conclusions of the September 11 Commission--remember the Democrats' demands that all of the Commission's recommendations be implemented?--was that the crime-and-punishment model was inadequate to deal with an organization like al Qaeda.

Then there were these strong words from Woolsey and former Navy Secretary John Lehman, in response to a question:

QUESTION: Good morning. This is some of the most severe language I guess we've heard yet describing the difference on approaches that the two candidates would take towards national security.

I'm curious, just judging from what we've heard from you gentlemen this morning, should we -- ladies and gentlemen -- should we read this to believe that, if Senator Obama were to win the presidency and implement this approach, then we should expect another terrorist attack?..."

262 pendraghon  Tue, Jun 17, 2008 2:25:39pm

263 eaglewingz08  Tue, Jun 17, 2008 2:27:33pm

Part Deux (given that the Obamanation is acting like Chirac loving weenie Jean Fraude Carrie, I thought the french would be appropriate here)

"LEHMAN: Could I answer that? John Lehman here.

I can't believe that Senator Obama will not change his position on this, because it is a totally unsupportable position. It would provide such an opening for terrorism that, no matter how naive he is, he would not go forward with it, in my belief. If he did, it would certainly make it far more dangerous in the United States.
WOOLSEY: This is Jim Woolsey. I don't say this lightly: This is an extremely dangerous and extremely naive approach toward terrorism, international terrorism and toward dealing with prisoners captured overseas who have been engaged in terrorist attacks against the United States.
Obama does have one thing going for him when he talks about scaling back our efforts against Islamic terrorists--wishful thinking. No doubt many voters would find it comforting to be told that we can go back to letting the police and the courts worry about terrorism."

Truly frightening that the Obamanation still believes we are living in a 9/10 world instead of a 9/12 world. Nothing seems to have changed for the candidate of change. Maybe that's what he really means by the politics of fear. We'll pretend it's really 9/10 and there are no terrorists out there seeking the destruction of our world. And if we withdraw from the world, neuter our defenses, why then everyone else will love us and leave us alone.

Yes it is. And the new AVG Free 8.0 might have some tools to fix her problem too.

However, in addition to spybot Search & Distroy, there is also Ad-Aware, and a-squared, which are also free and do a pretty good job.

Beyond that for the things that just wont die.
Check out another free program called hijackthis. It's a free program that will run though all that is running on your computer and you can then upload the report to online forums dedicated to helping people remove this junk.

Also CCleaner, and one called Pocket KillBox, which is a program that can be used to get rid of files that stubbornly refuse to allow you to delete them.

F-Prot also has a Rootkit scanner too.

Good luck

Obama couldn’t have picked a better way to offend the world’s 325 million Arabs and 1.5 billion Muslims.

If on ly they knew it was just Barry's little taqiiya.

Never mind - I'm sure he'll find a way to make it up to them. I mean, who knows who his foreign secretary will be should he become president.

Weird.

How come one of Obama's many statements is suddenly a "blunder" just because it's pro-Israeli?

We all know that Jerusalem is an Islamic City because Mohamed flew the magic camel there.

/Or something like that...

More like Big Mo was using the magic elixir of Khat and opium.
