From April:

While the crowd was indeed diverse, some students at the event questioned the practices of Mrs. Obama’s event coordinators, who handpicked the crowd sitting behind Mrs. Obama. The Tartan’s correspondents observed one event coordinator say to another, “Get me more white people, we need more white people.” To an Asian girl sitting in the back row, one coordinator said, “We’re moving you, sorry. It’s going to look so pretty, though.”

“I didn’t know they would say, ‘We need a white person here,’ ” said attendee and senior psychology major Shayna Watson, who sat in the crowd behind Mrs. Obama. “I understood they would want a show of diversity, but to pick up people and to reseat them, I didn’t know it would be so outright.”

Charles:

Those women do have the right to wear the hijab if that's what they want. The Obama campaign just doesn't want people to make the connection between Muslims support and Obama because that would be bad for Obama's media persona. Someone might get the idea that Muslims support Obama because of where he stands on issues relating to the Middle East.

Whoa, whoa, whoa there Lawhawk....are you trying to insinuate that "The Jews" had anything to do with this choice, &/or Jews are the only people that would be put-off by seeing Muslims with Obama, &/or that Jews would be put-off at all by seeing Muslims with Obama.....

I usually agree with you but your undertones here are actually offensive. I have been on many sites on the web, and there are many people who would consider not voting for (possibly Muslim - or so the claim goes) Obama if he were seen with burqa'd women.

This has nothing to do with "The Jews" or "The Jewish Vote"! It has to do with people from all faiths, that would not want to vote for a POTUS (Muslim or not) that was seen to be too closely tied to indiviiduals that look just like those that are trying to destroy our Country and have attacked us.

I repeat: This has nothing specifically to do with "The Jews" as you insinuate.

The Democratic White House hopeful [Obama] has scheduled the inaugural meeting Wednesday of what he’s calling his Senior Working Group on National Security. It includes former members of Congress and high-ranking Clinton administration officials.

Among them are three who advised Hillary Rodham Clinton and had served in her husband’s Cabinet — former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Warren Christopher and former Defense Secretary William Perry.

That's CHANGE for you!

Not insinuating anything about Jews being behind this - the campaign clearly doesn't want to alienate anyone who might vote for Obama, so they engage in all manner of torturous pretzel logic to do so. Making those two women exit stage right so as not to be in camera range fits that.

Actually, this year, they might vote the other way. Obama's spending so much time there right now because he is very afraid he'll lose the state. He's pissed off many Democrats there with his games regarding the convention and the delegates. Let's also not forget the minor implosion of the Dems there. Not insinuating anything about Jews being behind this - the campaign clearly doesn't want to alienate anyone who might vote for Obama, so they engage in all manner of torturous pretzel logic to do so. Making those two women exit stage right so as not to be in camera range fits that.

I agree that it was a a "controll" issue so that Obam'uh wasn't seen in the same frame as burqa'd women, because of the campaign's belief that Americans are racist and thus would never vote for someone associated with "those dang Muzlims". But you specifically stated that it was a choice between the "The Jewish Vote" and some other vote. It was this that I took issue with.

From my experience, for right or wrong, Jews would probably be more likely to vote for a Muslim POTUS than any other religious groups would be. (excluding Muslims, of course)

Actually, this year, they might vote the other way. Obama's spending so much time there right now because he is very afraid he'll lose the state. He's pissed off many Democrats there with his games regarding the convention and the delegates. Let's also not forget the minor implosion of the Dems there. Granholm is showing how ineffective she is at fixing the economy (what she was elected and re-elected to do), and Kwame is indicted. Two of the biggest Dems are in deep shit.

Sadr militia won't resist Iraq offensive

Forces loyal to Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr have told Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki they won't offer resistance when an expected offensive to take control of Amarah, capital of Maysan province, begins this week, USA Today reported Wednesday.

In a change of strategy, the Iraqi government gave ample warning to Sadr's militia forces they were coming to retake the city, which until recently had been in control of the militants. An Iraqi military official told the newspaper militia commanders decided not to fight and ordered their soldiers to pull improvised explosive devices out of the ground.

Michelle Obama will be wearing the new Esperanto line of clothing. It's going to be part of her new makeover.

Funny you should say that.

Tivadar Schwartz, George Soros' father, rejected his own Judaism in youth, but found another "religion" at some point in the First World War. During his years as a Russian POW, Tivadar became enthralled with the obscure, synthetic language, Esperanto. He acquired a rudimentary knowledge of it from his fellow POWs.

Esperanto was devised by a Jewish physician in Warsaw during the 1880's. But it wasn't (and still isn't) just a made-up language; it served as the embodiment of a cult formed around the ideas of "internationalism, anti-sectarianism and cosmopolitanism," in the words of Soros biographer Michael Kaufman. (p.12)

Esperantists believe that a new world order of harmony and cooperation will be ushered in through the adoption of their made-up, one-world language. They see language as the vehicle that will enable them to re-create the world according to their own specifications.

call Bluebird-- BHussein needs A BIGGER BUS.
(chuck the volunteers AND the Muslim women-- why be picky at this late date?)
"These, uh, uhm, aren't, uh, uh, you know, uhm, the volunteers I knew" Hussein was heard saying as he mumbled in front of a crowd in downtown Deeetroit.

When he's done tossing under the bus everyone that gets in his way, and IF he wins the race for POTUS-- can you imagine what his foreign policy will be like?

"Excuse me Mr. President, the Iraqi's are demanding that you live up to your pre-election promise to remain in Iraq until the country is secure from Iranian invaders."
Yet, as the loonyliberal Winnie the Pooh foreign-policy advisors shake their heads and point to plummeting popularity polls, BHussein calls for yet another fleet busses to accomodate the entire nation of Iraq.

Oh no doubt, it is the left that insists we recognize race at every opportunity. We cannot move past noting race no matter the situation, as if it has some import. Somehow not noting someone's race...is racist, and we therefore must note their race, and confer on them some sort of special status simply because of the color of their skin. This is somehow not racist, as long as it isn't white people being conferred any sort of special status or treatment.

In Islam today, slaves and sex slaves are allowed per the Koran. Any comments on this?

I love EJ. IMHO, "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" is a perfect song.

I agree with you FBV (but he like a lot of entertainers need to heed Laura Ingraham's advice and shut up and sing). "Meal Ticket" is also an excellent song from that album.

I still have the "Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy" LP I bought in 1975. Remember the great artwork and the poster that came with the album?

Honestly, I don't give two shits about it, but I would think that massive flooding on the Mississippi River and in Iowa affecting thousands upon thousands of people should take precidence over a silly story about gay marriage in a state I couldn't care less about.

G.A.O. Backs Boeing on Aerial Tanker Deal

The Government Accountability Office on Wednesday backed Boeing’s protest of the awarding of a lucrative contract for refueling tankers to Northrop Grumman and a European partner, saying the Air Force made errors during the process.

The $40 billion tanker program is the Air Force’s No. 1 priority, designed to replace a fleet of aerial refueling tankers — which provide fuel to fighter jets and cargo planes in mid-air — that date back to the Eisenhower era and which are being stressed in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

No I'm not - if the will of the people of the state of California wanted to make gay marriage legal there was a process that they could have utilized through the Constitution.

This is a case of judicial fiat - imposing upon the people values they had rejected twice. They had already made sure there was equal and legal recourse under the law. That wasn't good enough for these judges even though they acknowledged no harm was being done them.

What you are embracing is a oligarchy - rule by Politburo. The few over the many. Our Constitution rejects this.

re: #345 Fat Bastard Vegetarian

I have no issue with Gay Marriage itself....but the ramifications it is going to have on society is what concerns me. For example, I do not want my male child to go to pre school, or elementary school, and be asked by his teacher if he is going to grow up to marry a boy or a girl. Or, whereas now the teacher would tell "little Bobby" that "boys marry girls" when Bobby states that he loves his best friend Gary and wants to marry him, in the future the teacher is going to say "that is great, you should marry Gary, he is a great guy, and boys are supposed to love and marry eachother." Lastly, its the instance where there is no longer "Father's Day" or "mother's Day", or where they will be teaching homosexuality to little children as an "option" (to those that would have never considered it in the past), or where the homosexual "option" is advocated and taught.

it is these issues and many more that concern me

And on these points they are mostly right. If a 28+ year old individual wishes to marry another concenting adult of the same sex...then GREAT, I wish them the best in their perverse behavior, they are right, its not my business....BUT by making homosexual marriage legal, it will have a ripple effect throughout everything in society. It ISN"T only about the two people in love.

Slightly OT, but I have yet to see an uncropped picture of Obama on his bike ride through Chicago - one that shows what he was pulling behind his bike. I know it was probably just a kiddie trailer, BUT there ARE things such as bike stabilizers for people who cannot ride a bike that hook on that way, and I just wonder why all those pictures were so closely cropped. Wouldn't a nice kiddie trailer, especially with a little tyke in it, be a positive image? Something funny here.

Given that decision by the "Human Rights" Panel in London awarding nearly ten thousand dollars for 'hurt feelings' of a muslim job applicant who was denied a job in a hair salon due to her refusal to take off her scarf at work, Obama may be facing a discrimination suit for his callous treatment of these muslim women. More women being thrown under the Obamanation Express. I wonder if the Obamanation will take any more photographs with his Kenyan muslim relatives?
