Obama's Hijab Women Connected to Radical Groups

Thu, Jun 19, 2008 at 12:17:51 pm PDT

Debbie Schlussel has some interesting information about the two Muslim women prevented from sitting behind Barack Obama at a Detroit rally, and their connections to radical Islamic front groups. (Are you surprised?)

But seriously, it's nots surprising.

The MSA types very politcally active.

More Trojan horsing by the MSA. One way or another they would undoubtedly have found a way to become offended. If they'd gotten seated and someone commented on it, however innocently, it would have been Islamaphobia. If they were not seated, it was discrimination. It's hard to believe that 0.6% of our population has more grievances than the entire remaning 99.4% combined, unless they're going out of their way to be offended by everything.

Now, I've come to learn that one of the hijab-encrusted, rejected whiners, Hebba Aref, was an official of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), in charge of proselytizing. The Chicago Tribune identified the MSA as part of the American manifestation of the Sunni terrorist group, Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimeen--The Muslim Brotherhood. Aref served on the executive board of the University of Michigan-Dearborn's MSA, which demanded and obtained tax-funded Muslim foot bats at that university, a story I broke on this site last year.

And Aref was not just any officer of the U-M Dearborn Muslim group. She was in charge of Dawa, or proselytizing, from 2000 to 2003 at the school. Yup, she was the chief "Conversion to Islam" officer at one of the most pan-Islamist college campuses in the country.

radical Muslim activists- just because they chanted kill the Jews and sponsored terrorist speakers? In Islam, to be a real radical, you have to do more than chant and sponsor. Can't get your radical membership card that way.

37 Ackattack  Thu, Jun 19, 2008 12:35:26pm

You know, I'm really not surprised. That just makes this more interesting. Now that this is out, how is Obama going to respond? Will he act like nothing happened until finally ever pro-Islamic Terrorist group in America is howling about racism(which will hurt him), or will he apologize, and every right-leaning(and potentially many moderates) citizens of America will freak when they learn he's pandering to terrorist-sympathizers? Or(as is most likely), will this not be reported at all by any major news network?

It's this kind of investigative journalism that proves to me that investigative journalism isn't dead, it's just hiding. Good job, Ms. Schlussel. I hope you don't get more death threats for doing better reporting than the vast majority of mainstream media.

Actually I am surprised that they are so brazen. I would think that radicals like that would try to keep a low profile when they are outside of their comfort zone, that is university campuses (and in this case the city of Dearborn) where they can do, say and demand anything without any repercussions.

69 jemima  Thu, Jun 19, 2008 2:50:23pm

You're surprised they're so brazen?! When has a muslim ever been shy and retiring about what they intend to do? They announce it on television, they make videos and audio tapes, they take us to court and say it, they picket with signs stating their intentions to take over America and fly the flag of islam over the White House. To be circumspect you need a modicum of self-conscious awareness. I never saw that as an islamic quality.

Beg to differ. The old adage a man is known by the company he keeps is as true today as it was hundreds of years ago. Yes, the KKK could support McCain but he'd denounce them soundly, then refuse any money from them.

Obama, however, has no problem being supported by radical muslims here in the States or in the ME. He's also good buddies with Farrakhan, which in itself speaks volumes. Obama can't be trusted in my opinion, regardless of how good his "policies" sound.

I still remember a couple of years ago during one of the ME's seething rage-fests that many held up posters of a crescent flag flying over the White House. This is no coincidence, believe me.

I agree that this seems very suspicious, and I am still wondering what really happened. Did these "activists" make the whole thing up? Ms. Schussel mentions non-Muslim witnesses but actually, I never saw anything in the article suggesting there even were non-Muslim witnesses- only that one of the guys' names was Miller. So what? Richard Reid was a terrorist, so a name means nothing.

Or did they just go trolling with several hijab-clad women nearby ready to spring into action? Really, several well-dressed young men at an Obama campaign event would probably attract a lot of attention- my guess is they'd be somewhat of an anomaly.

I thought it was the Obama's campaign supreme bad luck to have ticked off some lawyers/law students, but now it really does seem too good to be true. I hope Schussel doesn't let this drop here, but keeps digging.

Huuum. #78 Angst has it right - if it smells like dead fish, it probably is.

But wouldn't these activists understand that any link by BHO to them via abject apology or

I don't get it.

82 colin nelson  Thu, Jun 19, 2008 7:10:55pm

re: #81 colin nelson

Let the firestorm begin:

Sen. Barack Obama today called the two Muslim women who were barred from sitting behind him at his Detroit rally to apologize, one of the women and two other sources said.

"Sen. Obama called himself and he apologized to each of us," one of the women, lawyer Hebba Aref, told me just now.

Aref, who had suggested that an appropriate fix might be seating her behind Obama at some future event, said she'd also discussed that possibility with his staff.
