'Black Muslim Bakery' Leader in Secret Videotape

Fri, Jun 20, 2008 at 4:17:29 pm PDT

This amazing little slice of real life shows the leader of Oakland’s “Your Black Muslim Bakery,” Yusuf Bey IV and two associates in a police department room, unaware that they are being secretly videotaped. I suggest they plead guilty.

Youtube Video

The video comes from the Center for Investigative Reporting, where there is more information on the story: Secret video raises questions about journalist Chauncey Bailey’s killing.

On August 2, 2007, journalist Chauncey Bailey was gunned down in Oakland, California. Bailey was investigating Your Black Muslim Bakery, a once prominent Oakland African-American organization. The next day, Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV was arrested during a raid for a separate kidnapping case. Police placed Bey and two associates involved in the case, his brother Joshua Bey and Tamon Halfin, in a San Leandro police department room, where they were secretly videotaped.

Bey IV has repeatedly told police he knew nothing about Bailey’s death. But, on the tape, Bey IV says he hid the gun used in the attack, and brags of playing “hella dumb” when investigators asked him about the killing.

Bey IV, 22, hasn’t been arrested or charged in connection with Bailey’s Aug. 2 slaying. Oakland Police have charged only one of his associates, Devaughndre Broussard, now 20, who claimed, at least initially, that he acted alone. The secret video raises fresh questions about Bey IV’s possible role in the crime and why police haven’t brought charges against others in the high-profile slaying, according to experts who viewed the tape at the request of the Chauncey Bailey Project.

They were under arrest, so assuming they'd received their Miranda warning -- and that's a safe assumption -- it's completely admissible.

Who would ever guess police might bug their interrogation room?

Maroons.

Don't blame Sharia -- blame stupidity. America's correctional facilities are jam-packed with trash-talking idiots like these, who mouth off non-stop about what bad-ass criminals they are and provide all sorts of damning details for any device that might be recording their brainless braggadocio. There's a reason any professional criminal organization insists on absolute silence from its members in the presence of potentially hostile witnesses.

re: #18 Charles

There's a lot about this that doesn't make sense.

There are a few possibilities. Corruption is one. There is talk in the story of possibly nefarious action by one of the Oakland officers looking to protect the bakery's reputation.

But beyond that, the investigation of Your Black Muslim Bakery is wide-ranging and multi-faceted. It's conceivable that the police were sand-bagging these guys in pursuit of some even larger bad guy.

The saga of the bakery is long, complex, and dirty. Bailey was poised to expose it. And so, as the thug said, "Poof."

34 gop_patriot  Fri, Jun 20, 2008 4:37:23pm

Was this a bakery, or not? I've never heard a bakery referred to as an "organization", or someone who works there as a "Bakery leader". Obviously they were also a criminal enterprise, but did they not sell baked goods? Just an odd way of describing it, to me.

It looks like the release of this video will drive wedges between just about all parties involved.

My guess is that people in the OPD and DA's office will start making secret deals with the State or the Feds, and arrests will be made.

Broussard might now be cleared.

The stars of this video, however, have (and are) a real problem. Like other big cities, problems get handled in Oakland.

I should look up the case, but I'm being lazy at the moment. Just because you have HEARD about the situation doesn't mean you've been tainted. You would be asked during voir dire if what you heard/read/saw would preclude you from applying the letter of the law as would be described. So, yes I saw the tape, but I am capable of setting that aside and judging the person before me based on what transpires in the court and apply the law as explained to me (and it would be explained. ad naseum).

Danny, I understand you have been through a lot. The future may indeed look bleak, but it does not have to be.

Think about what wonders could be in store for future generations. What will life be like on earth 50 years from now? 100? New inventions, technologies, and knowledge. The future can indeed be bright - we just need to fight to insure it is so. Evil needs to be defeated. It will not be easy. But it is necessary.

I want all that cool stuff we've been promised since we were kids - flying cars, tele-portation, space travel. We can make it happen.

We had eight years of it just seven short years ago. Nothing changes as far as those skunks are concerned, the stripe is still there, and their behavior stinks and also stinks up everything arround them.

In the new poll, registered Democrats and Democratic leaners who supported Clinton during the primaries now favor Obama over McCain by 69 percent to 18 percent. In last month’s survey, Clinton supporters backed the Illinois senator by a significantly smaller margin, 53 percent to 34 percent.
Actually, it’s not terribly worrisome. Granted, the numbers about Hillary supporters coming home to the party are in line with the Fox News poll from yesterday, but like JWF says, compare the samples: 42/35/16 D/R/I for Fox versus 38/23/35 for Newsweek. We’ll treat it as an outlier, especially considering the source. Exit question: Can we treat this one as an outlier too?

My comment about wishing to have been born in a different age refers to my desire to be in a place where these kind of ghoulish fools are simply taken out back and shot.

We cant keep having commitee meetings and discussion groups etc on how to onsider a possible strategy to possibly deal with these things. Somewhere someone has to step up and just get it done.

I don't know danny. Lately, I've been feeling that way too. Then I think I'd be just as disgusted no matter what time I lived-in. Politics has been rough and nasty from the beginning.

Anti-war sentiment was awful--worse by some accounts --during the Civil War. There were some down-right shocking newspaper shenagins before, during and after the Revolutionary War.

In the end, I think we are better off in this age of technology --it make take a lot of work to sort it all out, but we have access to the facts and can rely on our own judgement. It's just that we also get to see the not-so-nice side of things for what they are.

Previous generations didn't always have that ability. Now, if we really want to know we can access the Congressional Record or whatever --in the past, you'd either have to subscribe or find the time to travel to the library to look-it-up.

Really, tho, I don't think people have changed that much.

OT: It seems that it is in fact water ice that was found on Mars by the Phoenix Lander:

The key new evidence is that chunks of bright material exposed by digging on June 15 and still present on June 16 had vaporized by June 19. "This tells us we've got water ice within reach of the arm, which means we can continue this investigation with the tools we brought with us," said Mark Lemmon of Texas A&M University, College Station, lead scientist for Phoenix's Surface Stereo Imager camera. He said the disappearing chunks could not have been carbon-dioxide ice at the local temperatures because that material would not have been stable for even one day as a solid.

"Your Black Muslim Bakery" and "Black Self-Help and Moving" are/were NOI affiliated businesses in Oakland, CA. Not much reported, but there is much blood on the NOI's hands. NOI fingerprints were all over the "Zebra Murders" from the early 70's. Some law enforcement officers think that the racially motivated killings continue to this day...Is this what Spike Lee meant by "Chocolate City"?

I'm getting more and more fan letters from moonbats every day. Strange. I just got this one:

Are you going to be uploading anymore pictures soon? Really, I love your page. It's absolutely hilarious. I'm certainly an ultra-liberal, but some of the hypocrites and extremists in the left-wing movements are just pathetically sad. Thanks for exposing them as the nuts they are.

A loyal "Zombietime" fan,

XXX

And earlier this morning I got this one:

Hi, Zombie -

Thanks for posting your essays ... it gives me hope that you're not yet another rigid and polarized person that just wants to attack the "other side" and ignore points of view different than yours ... as I've gotten involved with anti-war work, I've been disturbed at how prevalent that type of person is in both the "left" and the "right."
...
If you have any interest in a continuing dialogue, I'd be glad to give you my full name (which you can get from the "properties" window of the attached document if you really want it) and my phone number. I'd also be glad to meet for coffee, beer, etc. ... I live in Berkeley near the recruiting station and work in San Francisco, so many locations would be convenient for me. I look forward to our discussions

XXX

And a couple days ago, this one:

From: M. M.

I am Muslim.

I would have to say that I am neither offended nor pleased with the website. It's merely an archive of images of the Prophet (pbuh). I've noticed that most people on both sides of the lists are fanatical in their ideology and that really pisses me off. BUT... to each their own beliefs. At least that provides one sole upside: comedy.

Muhammad preached peace and acceptance and only fighting when oppressed and also for the oppressed. [Bunch of prosletyzing here...]

I must admit, some of the drawings I'm quite touched by, especially the Russian cartoon where all the prophets have gathered in front of the TV, saddened by what their followers are doing. THAT one I find the most moving and accurate depiction of all.

What is going on? I sense a sea-change.

It is easy to goet to the raw data, but someone always seems to have to do it.
Now, will Newsweek start doing the AP lawsuit rag to stop Jammie-types from "Fisking" them?

I have to remind myself to disregard AP stories and if I do reference them, not bother to quote anything. Screw 'em.

One realization is you can always find an original source for most of their items since they lift their material from newspapers; so you don't need to bother using them.

Shredding that Newsweek poll was simple. I mean, how much credibility do they have when every known pollster has the race at two or four points and all of a sudden they have it as 15. Just not credible.

I only botheedr quoting a paragraph of the story to show how in the tank they were for him by referring to him by only his first name.

Linda Duncan adopted three sisters, bringing her foster child adoptions to nine.

"All of my kids have fetal alcohol effects of fetal alcohol syndrome," she said.

Before her new family came along, 3-year-old Hillary Joy bounced around from home to home.

"She'd been in six homes in a month and a half before she came to us. She had a hard time. She didn't sleep and had a lot of tantrums," said Lea Coats.

When the Coats took her in, they committed to keeping her, no matter how difficult things got. And on Friday they made their vow official.

FAS is one of the real tough ones. The worst affect is it permentental effects judgment, they are teenagers forever, the part of the brain that learns judgment is damaged.

We have some "drug" babies, but no FAS babies. Alcohol is worse for long term effects than all the other drugs. The effects of the other drugs can be compensated for in a stable home, that is willing to work with the effects and by the time they are adults can learn to overcome the effects. Smoking is the second worst next to alcohol, it deprives the babies brain of oxygen while in the womb.

Two Odessa Men Murdered In Mexico 6/20/08

CBS 7 Staff

June 20, 2008

Two Odessa men are killed in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. 24-year-old Oscar Gardea and 49-year-old Gerardo Gardea were found dead in a vehicle with a third unidentified man last week. A Joke:

Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Redneck?

Here is a little test that will help you decide.

The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you.

You are carrying a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

.............

THINK CAREFULLY AND THEN SCROLL DOWN:

Democrat's Answer :

Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed?

Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?

What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?

Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?

Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?

Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint and weed day and make this happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.

This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus.

Republican's Answer:

BANG!

.............

.Redneck's Answer:

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG !

Click..... (Sounds of reloading)

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click

Daughter: 'Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Hollow Points?! '

Son: 'Can I shoot the next one?!'

Without going into preach mode, from the Christian perspective we do the right thing with out regard to "the end." The Lord will return as a thief in the night, we simple need to prepared always for that day.

MULLIGAN!

This story is near and dear, I've got three foster to adopt kids.

New beginnings: Foster kids find 'forever' homes

What pisses me off is WA had a program to identify high risk foster kids and put them into prescreened foster homes that would be the adoptive home. It was canceled for "lack of funds" while the agency budget increased 12%. It was also canceled because the agency felt it interfered with a court order..... to provide more stable foster care.

Also to mine--I work with neglected/abused children and help them find permanent home. God Bless You and all other foster parents(I know it is not always a easy job with some of these children to help them through the abuse they suffered) and what a wonderful day it was for all these children.
More stable foster care---they should be placing these children in foster care that they know will step up and adopt if the it becomes a need. Not just think of the short term of fostering the child while the case is going through the court system. Average 2 to 3 years. Really to bad some one dropped the ball on the prescreened policy. , but IMHO it should be for all foster children not just the high risk.

Retaining foster parents is an issue. It takes about two years in WA from start to finish to get licensed. Maintaining the license is work, continuing education and things like that. Lastly dealing with the system is a monumental headache, foster parents have little input in the case of a child, to get any input you've got to be the squeaky wheel and then you get labeled a "problem" foster parent.

We've done a lot of things for the kids, then asked for reimbursement. Getting preapprovals for service can be a nightmare. We're fortunate enough to be able to abosorb some of the costs, but foster parents with more modest means simply can't.

The system needs a lot of work.

On to the man who would make America safer for radical Muslims and assorted thugs with grievances.

By DAVID BROOKS
Published: June 20, 2008

God, Republicans are saps. They think that they’re running against some academic liberal who wouldn’t wear flag pins on his lapel, whose wife isn’t proud of America and who went to some liberationist church where the pastor damned his own country. They think they’re running against some naïve university-town dreamer, the second coming of Adlai Stevenson.

But as recent weeks have made clear, Barack Obama is the most split-personality politician in the country today. On the one hand, there is Dr. Barack, the high-minded, Niebuhr-quoting speechifier who spent this past winter thrilling the Scarlett Johansson set and feeling the fierce urgency of now. But then on the other side, there’s Fast Eddie Obama, the promise-breaking, tough-minded Chicago pol who’d throw you under the truck for votes.

I've always wanted to take foster children. I'm single though and I don't know if I'd be able to give them the attention they'd need.

Most of these children do not need a lot of "special attention" just need a good loving home, just like any other child. There are some though that would need extra "attention", due to what they had been through. Some are (and I know this sounds weird and I am not trying to make light of it or make it seem that it is not serious, but if you could see some of the other cases then you would understand why I state it this way) simple neglect cases. They need the basics that any home with caring people could give them, that their own parents couldn't or wouldn't give them due to one reason or another--most often due to drugs. If you can't be a foster parent and still want to help children who have been abused or neglected look into becoming a CASA Volunteer.

Oh, YES it does , and that is in every State. They do not make it easy on Foster Parents, and that is why I think all Foster Parents and ANGELS!

McClellen the clueless and pathetic. Psst. The White House had some things they would prefer not to talk about. Wow. We know who was using the cocaine and it wasn't Bush.

"This is a very secretive White House," McClellan said. "There's some things that they would prefer not to be talked about."

McClellan took aim at Bush's personal honesty when discussing the president's handling of allegations that he had long ago used cocaine.

In the book, McClellan recounts hearing Bush on the telephone telling a supporter that "I honestly don't remember whether I tried it or not."

McClellan called that kind of response to sensitive questions by Bush and other politicians "essentially evasion" that for Bush later "transferred over to other issues" of policy.

"It tells something about his character," he maintained

No doubt about it. I got into this deal because a couple Brits were buying an instrument here in the States and they came to me looking to exchange dollars for Pounds (that way we all avoid banks fees for exchanging currency). The Brits and Euros are running wild in the American auction houses these days. I even sold a few instruments back to Europeans at wholesale prices because the exchange rate allowed me to make a modest profit.

479 Purple Prose  Fri, Jun 20, 2008 7:38:45pm
But frothing phantasms over how Mr. Obama’s “imagined persona” — as a Muslim or a third world person — are already crowding this view, fanning out of the airwaves of Al-Jazeera TV into effervescent Arab websites and public opinion polls, all murmuring about miraculous turnabouts and new alliances.

An Obama administration shall deliver a free Palestine, a defanged Israel liberated enough of its Jewishness to welcome millions of returning Muslim Palestinians, instant friendship with Iran’s mullahs, a handover of the Golan Heights, and prompt departure from Iraq.

Mr. Obama needs to burst these bubbles, as none of this is likely.

...

There a growing expectation hovers that his “humanitarian and multicultural” penchants shall finally swing behind the desired option for Muslims to spin out of secular society and live in a separate world of Sharia laws.

This dream of a freewheeling Muslim universe in Western societies of an Obama era is plastered all over literature and advocacy by a myriad of Islamist groups including CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations in the U.S., and the various Muslim Brotherhood derivatives of the UK, Holland, Belgium, France, and Australia, all pregnant with mini-legislation for schools, mosques, holidays, and a world of separateness — all tucked under a new protective umbrella of a different America.

Saudi Arabian pundits firmly predict an Obama administration that will facilitate a virtual free pass on Wahhabi-style schooling, as with its mushrooming Virginia academy.

Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama said on Friday he expects Republicans to highlight the fact that he is black as part of an effort to make voters afraid of him.

"It is going to be very difficult for Republicans to run on their stewardship of the economy or their outstanding foreign policy," Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid.

"They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?"

He said he was also set for Republicans to say "he's got a feisty wife," in trying to attack his wife Michelle.

He has not demonstrated a record of accomplishment. He is simply not qualified to be leader of the free world. I am not gigly over McCain either, but he is better than Obama.
