Hope, Change, and Race-Baiting

Sat, Jun 21, 2008 at 12:56:22 pm PDT

Pretty blatant race-baiting here from the candidate of inclusiveness and hope, as Barack Obama tosses out some red meat: Obama Suggests GOP Will Use Race to Scare Voters.

“We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid,” Obama said at the fundraiser. “They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”

Baldilocks hit that one out of the park:

Most people couldn't care less about your name and your color, Senator Obama. They fear being lead by you because you have no substantive legislative record, you're a chronic liar and, after explicitly stating that you choose your friends carefully, you have repeatedly and systematically made friends with people who hate this country. You would "bridge the divide," Senator, by burning that bridge.

He said Republicans would be unable to run on the economy or foreign policy, so the election would ultimately boil down to a choice between “hope and fear.”

I believe this is called "projection".

Semator- you are dreaming if you think you can run on anything BUT "hope and fear" because you've got nothing- no experience in economics, none on foreign policy or even domestic policy. You truly have nothing but a clichéd mantra.

41 Toasty  Sat, Jun 21, 2008 1:06:01pm

I've seen this with local letters to the edtor and "guest editorials". Those that I've seen are seemingly intentionally obfuscating the issues with the "race smokescreen".

Never mind the marxist tendencies and practices, pro-aborton stance, history of tax and spend, or anything else that is relevant to an informed voter decision.

Simply put, Barack clearly wants it to be ALL about race because it keeps the light of day off of the real ssues.

73 Sharmuta  Sat, Jun 21, 2008 1:11:54pm

I think lawhawk summed it up best:

Consider that there are literally hundreds of reasons not to vote for Obama. I'll start with just my top 10:

10: No experience at all.
9: No policy achievements.
8: No foreign policy experience.
7: No knowledge of the Middle East
6: Tax and spend political hack.
5: No experience.
4: Socializing health care.
3: Repeal of Bush tax cuts - in effect a massive tax hike.
2: Opposes drilling for more oil domestically.
1: No experience at all.

Indeed.

74 ironbill  Sat, Jun 21, 2008 1:11:55pm

That is why his very strained "Conversation on Race" To counter Rev. Wright was such a sham.
Basically, he blamed White Racism for everything.
There can be no honest conversation of race in this country.
The parameters are so confining & if you step over the laid down line, just to be objective, you are branded racist.

104 Salmon Dave  Sat, Jun 21, 2008 1:20:37pm

Guess what? The general election isn't a caucus where delegates can be intimidated into proving their non-racist bona fides by raising their hands in full view of a critical audience.

When the curtain closes in the voting booth this November, nobody knows how you vote. Even Democrats might decide to do the right thing for the country despite the pressure from their moonbat peers. That's why I don't think the polls are going to accurately predict the outcome.

If I remember correctly it was the left who did the racist cartoons against Lt governor Steele

So don't give me this crap Barry. People are afraid of you because you are a far left candidate with barely enough experience to chair a senate committee let alone hold the most powerful job on earth.

Absolutely correct. There were several racist-tinged stunts pulled by the leftists when Lt. Gov. Steele ran for the Senate. I voted for him. Although Senator Cardin, imho, is a good man, I think Mr. Steele would have been a better senator.

Well if he is a failure as a President it will be because George Chimpy Bush f@cked everything up so bad it will take at least 200 years of single party Democrat rule to put things back together again. If Americans vote them out after Obama's failure it will be because they were not patient enough to CHANGE.

Lefty always thinks in terms of the tribe and will try to paint issues in terms of the tribe. That way, a person, cannot be examined for their own merits, but instead must be viewed through the lens of the whole tribe, making it easier to deflect criticism.

Barack Hussein Obama is in my opinion, the most unsuitable candidate ever proposed for the President of the United States of America.

I find him to be yet another corrupt politician from one of the worst political machine organizations in the country, overtly unpatriotic, and a long-time associate of terrorist sympathizers and racist hustlers both domestic and foreign. He appears be very sympathetic to Islamic totalitarianism and his professed Christianity is a sham to advance his political career.

To the extent that he has any political ideas they appear to be a jumble of naïve Marxist prescriptions. Obama doesn’t seem to really have even basic knowledge of Geography, Economics, Military affairs, or International Politics. He repeatedly tells audiences what they want to hear and then within hours repudiates his statements to gain favor with other audiences.

His advisors and backers have much more definite ideas of how they want national affairs to be run. Is anyone really looking forward to War Crimes Trials? How about “Reparation Payments”?

And did I mention that Obama is 1/16 Black, 7/16 Arab, and 1/2 White? None of that even matters – except to his supporters. It is the Obama supporters who scream “racist” at every criticism of their candidate, then proudly explain how they will vote for him because Obama is Black and they like the idea of having a Black President.

I won’t be voting for Obama because he is unsuitable – not because he is “Black”, or “inexperienced” – he is unsuitable.

But no, the toothless man stands on the corner of 14th street and 4th Ave calling complete strangers war criminals.

I truly believe in Nixon's concept of the "Silent Majority." The idiot you describe is a very common occurrence, given the level of political discourse today. However, what this dip**** and others like him, cannot fathom is that he is repellent to the vast majority of reasonable humans. I say keep ranting on your soap box.

For all we know the woman who confronted him could very well be 95% politically liberal. Should that be so, there is now a good chance that she may say to herself, "look at the foolishness I have aligned myself with."

It's hard sometimes not to want to go over to a guy like that and knock his one tooth down his throat, (that's why I have stopped watching political talk shows) but if you think about it this guys the best advertisement reasoned conservatism has.

Bill Bennett said that BO and the lib/dems divide everyone up by race and gender (while decrying "race" and "gender") because they cannot face the idea of looking at individuals based on "good and evil" of character or judging a candidate based on truth/lies. (paraphrased at best... it was early in the morning and I didn't write it down.) The problem, the libs cry, is that if one looks at individuals based on the good/evil/truth/lies yardstick it's too absolute, too biblical, too moral.

Something else that really bothers me about Obama. He refuses to release his college transcripts. We don't know any courses he took in college, his grades, or his teachers. Who taught him at Columbia? What was he taught in those classes? Why did he decide that his purpose in life after graduating from Columbia was to go to Chicago to be a street agitator? Who planted that idea in his mind? What did he read that pushed him in this direction?

We don't know. He won't let us see.

Worse, to me, is that here is someone who graduated from an Ivy League college, then went to Harvard Law, then taught law for seven years and he has NO PAPER TRAIL. Normally, someone in these circumstances would have produced a mountain of published articles or papers, but for him, nothing. Not even as Editor of the Law Review. That position at Harvard requires several major position papers for a candidate to be considered for the post. Where are they? Why can't we see them?

This guy is going to set racial progress back 100 years. While it can be noted that he's black, his main distinction is that he's the first communist running for the presidency. They're just attempting to hide this behind his color, as in: "Is this guy a communist?" Answer: "No, he's black. Stop asking questions you racist."

The sad part is, when he wrecks the country I'm afraid it will be remembered that the first black president ruined the country when in fact it will have been the first communist president that screwed everything up.

Then liberals will probably say: "We still need a communist president, just a white one this time."

re: #222 ploome hineni

I know the thread is dead, but in case it isn't-- the whole "race/ethn" question that appears on forms etc has taken a far more sinister turn.

Working for a school district in the state of Colorado, I recently attended a Colorado Dept of Ed "groupthink" meeting in which we were asked to brainstorm the various ways we might be able to comply with the Oct 1997 Federal law that requires reporting of "multiple" ethnicities by 2010.

What came out of this was astonishing.

As school districts we must perform the work of "census" takers. But the question is NOT "which primary as well as two or more ethnicities are in your lineage?"

The question is two-part and begins with this: 1) Are you Hispanic or Non-Hispanic. Period.

Once you choose one of those two catagories, you then are asked to choose from 5 other "racial catagories" -- but THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL BE RECORDED AT THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL IS HISPANIC OR NON-HISPANIC.

White anglo-saxon is among the 5 other racial catagories, as is American Indian, Hawaiian Native, but if you are ANY of these 5 other catagories alone, you choose NON-hispanic. If you are Asian/Hispanic, or Black/Hispanic, and if you choose "HISPANIC" in question (1) you will be reported as Hispanic only. Hispanic TRUMPS all other racial catagories including white because "white" will be recorded as "non-hispanic."

I asked this question point-blank: "Are you telling us that Hispanic now trumps all other ethnicities if you are of mixed lineage?"

The answer was, unabashedly, "yes."

If you are American Indian and Hispanic and you want your Indian Heritage to be recognized, you will have to choose Non-Hispanic and American Indian, but you will be recognized as Non-hispanic first.

AND IF YOU REFUSE TO FILL OUT ANYTHING, you will be asked "do you, by not filling out the data, realize that your ethnicity will be filled in by the person presenting this form to you?" (in our case school secretaries)

There is no way to leave it blank. If you do leave it blank you will be reported as whatever the school secretary feels you "look like."

1997. Who was watching the henhouse that year? CLINTON. Thanks alot slick willie.
