More Celebrity Endorsements for Barack Obama: Kim Jong-Il and Fidel Castro

Sun, Jun 22, 2008 at 9:56:55 am PDT

It’s nearly unanimous; terrorist groups and cruel dictators have made a clear choice in the US presidential election: OneFreeKorea - Obama Gets Another Unwanted Endorsement.

The Chosun Sinbo, the mouthpiece of North Korea’s Japanese front organization Chongryon and often for the North Korean regime itself, has announced its preference for Obama over McCain, whom it calls “a variant of Bush” and “nothing better than a scarecrow of neoconservatives,” which is a bit odd considering that the Bush Administration’s giveaway diplomacy is better for Kim Jong Il than even Clinton’s awful performance.

It’s worth pausing to consider the disturbing rhetorical similarity between the Chosun Sinbo and Daily Kos, although the sheer incoherence of Bush’s North Korea policy makes any comparison to it questionable. ...

North Korea’s endorsement of Obama will probably draw comparisons to the unwanted Hamas endorsement of Obama, which Hamas later withdrew after Obama spoke at AIPAC’s convention.  Fidel Castro, by contrast, took a more sophisticated and self-aware approach:

[O]n Monday [Castro] gave Senator Barack Obama an endorsement of sorts, calling him “the most progressive candidate to the U.S. presidency” while also berating him for his plan to continue the trade embargo against Cuba. “Were I to defend him, I would do his adversaries an enormous favor,” Mr. Castro said. “I have therefore no reservations about criticizing him.”  [N.Y. Times, The Caucus]
Which Castro then proceeded to do, on Obama’s stated support for trade sanctions during a campaign speech to Cuban exiles in Miami.

UPDATE at 6/22/08 1:03:58 pm:

Here’s a report on the recent North Korean statement on McCain and Obama: World Tribune — Obama offers change Kim Jong-Il can believe in.

And here’s the original Korean article it comes from: 조선신보사

66 indythinker  Sun, Jun 22, 2008 10:12:39am

I think this is because Barack, uh, Obama reminds Kim Jong Il of Hans Brix, uh, Blix.

67 addison  Sun, Jun 22, 2008 10:12:51am

The variety of completely truthful and devastating commercials that could be made against Barack Obama boggle the mind. A commercial about his 'friends', about his endorsements from anti-American anti-freedom leaders around the world, about his claims to "reach across the aisle", about his rote liberalism, about his $300,000+/annum bitter wife (he cannot bring her 'hope' but he can for all of America?), about his exposing his young children to the hatred and bigotry of that 'church'...and on and on and on.

Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation. It is better be alone than in bad company.
— George Washington

Which is worse, that Barack Obama does not realize this or that he does not see his associates and epigones as people of ill repute?

Choose your vote for him based on his judgment? Fine, I will.

Does anyone know whether Elian Gonzalez' Miami relatives managed to protest Obama at a Florida Obama rally this past week? They had planned to do so.

Elian's Miami relatives were ready to adopt little Elian after his mother drowned escaping Cuba; they walked him to an American school in a new backpack and he was ready to be a little Cuban American.

Then Hillary & Bill's goons grabbed the little boy and handed him over to Fidel Castro. Elian was put on Fidel's lap for propaganda purposes, and now will never be let out of sight of Castro's goons.

Yes, with Eric Holder the architect of that fiasco on Obama's team, these are family values Obama shares.

Oh, boy! Theres another Creationist thread just up!

/

Well, I guess it will get lonely down here real quick. Too bad, because I find Obama more interesting and more dangerous than creationists.

Obama's "old time religion" is Marxism 101 with lots of "progressive" self-affirmations thrown in--to throw naive folks off the scent of the corpse of failed Jimmy Carter democrat policies.

Gimme that old time marxism,
it's good enough for Kim Jong Il.

Has Mugabe wieghed in for Obama yet?

Or how about our friend Hugo in Venezuela?

I remember.

Oddly enough, the sniveling left who like to caterwaul about living in a police state had no problem with that photo.

Because they want to be the ones running the police state.

Some good news:

Newspapers lost 14% in advertising revenue in the first quarter of 2008! Even the NYT acknowledges the loss. [Link: www.nytimes.com...]

Perhaps a few of the big Obama-worshipping papers will finally go under. It couldn't happen fast enough, in my wee opinion.
1. A factoid: 19 out of 50 of the biggest US newspapers are already losing money. That means they are in the RED, folks, and are eating up their assets.
2. Not really a factoid but a prediction: TheLA Times will be firing as many as 19 percent of their staff.

Hey, I was at that game! The one interrupted by the, er, natural occurrence.

I had just started a job at an Apple dealer in Palo Alto. We had just locked the doors and were ringing up our last customers when it hit. I was coming out of the stock room and everyone in the showroom had dived under tables. I made a move for the door as they say to get into a door frame but then I realized it was a glass door! So I ran out into the middle of University Avenue (all the traffic had stopped!) and looked west toward the 101 and the Bay. All the aluminum street lamps were swinging back and forth and you could actually see the sine wave of the earthquake moving through the asphalt.

It seemed to go on forever but it was really only like a minute and a half.

I read somewhere this morning that Miami's mayor who is a Cuban American Democrat IIRC, refused to endorse Obama because some of Obama's advisors were involved in sending Elian back to Cuba.

Continuing my #190 ...

Those newspapers that are NOT going out of business are printing less text. They're skinnier, folks!

It would be my prediction that newspapers cut back on the most expensive areas of publication -- international and non-local news. Sadly, this means they'll be relying on wire services (AP) which will increase the uniformity of the MSM international news. But this also means that news from other perspectives (mainly conservative) will be sought out by those who want a more nuanced understanding of events (not professors or hardened lefties, but many ordinary Americans.) So those of you with news-related blogs need to reach out, somehow, to attract more links and readers, particularly those who are not usually exposed to read non-approved/liberal ideas.

re: #57 Sizzlack

Absolutely true. Heck my 16 year old cousin couldn't stop telling me how cool Obama was. When I asked why she would just respond with 'because he is'. And shes 16. Imagine being 26 or 36 and still thinking that...ugh.

They confuse 'cool' with 'trendy'. 'Cool' is cool because it is. 'Trendy' looks cool right now.

Well-fitting blue jeans=cool.
Wide bottom bell jeans=trendy.
Hardwood floors=cool.
Multicolored shag carpet=trendy.
Steve McQueen=cool.
Sean Penn=trendy.
Navy blue blazer=cool.
Nehru jacket=trendy.

You see the math.

Right, leaders who rule countries where there is no vote are recommending people vote for the Obama.

This should be a serious warning for anyone who was going to vote for the lightmaker.

197 razorbacker  Sun, Jun 22, 2008 12:09:37pm

An effective McCain ad would be a listing of Obama's supporters.

McCain won't run it. It'd be undignified. He'd also turn on any 527 that did run it.

Another reason McCain isn't going to have many 527's going to bat for him.

Bet he didn't see that coming when he was pimping campaign finance reform.

Don't forget a slew of "low profile" pardons for anyone who can afford them...

199 Independent Voter123  Sun, Jun 22, 2008 12:42:16pm

I don't think a 527 would care what McCain said about such an ad. It would be true and effective. If the 527's goal would be to defeat Obama they would do it, in my opinion.

Kim Jong II will change his mind when President Obama insists on being called the real "Dear Leader".

There is no link to the article, and no hint of Chosun Sinbo on the web that I can see.

This hit is pretty much worthless w/o backup, but WITH backup it could turn goatpiss into gasoline overnight among Asian voters.

backup please.

Link to the article that Charles posted above, which even includes a link to original Korean language article. The OneFreeKorea article has many other links in the article text; they're not hard to find. Use your mouse.

As for finding Chosun Sinbo on the web: [Link: www.google.com...]
That's about 1580 links or so (your mileage may vary.)

How much more backup do you need?

You need to follow the links...it leads to East Asia Intel.com, which is a subscription service.

Kim Jong II will change his mind when President Obama insists on being called the real "Dear Leader".

He'll get over it as soon as the Obama people start showing up, and asking for Kim Jung Il's advice on how to hope and change America for the better like he did the Republic of North Korea.

We'll all have to get together and have a Lizard convention at the FEMA Concentration Camp.

Obama's loved by the following people: Insurgents in Iraq, Mullahs in Iran, Terrorists in Pakistan & Afghanistan, Eurowhinies, Ruskies, North Koreans, Zimbabwe's Mugabe, Libya's Gaddafi and every single moron or bad guy in this world.

Now thats scary. They complain about the "bush dictatorship" and capitalism but have no idea what it is really like in Cuba.

Oh course they know what it is like in Cuba! Tim Robbins and Sean Penn have spoken! The Cubans I know here in South Florida are lairs and don't appreciate free everything.
