Iranian Documentary: 'Saving Private Zion'

Sun, Jun 29, 2008 at 2:43:27 pm PDT

Good grief. The bizarre antisemitic propaganda being fed to the Iranian people would be funny in a dark way if it didn’t provoke such a sense of foreboding, of history repeating. (Courtesy of MEMRI TV.)

Click picture to play video. Requires Windows Media Player; Mac users should install Flip4Mac.

Following are excerpts from an episode of an Iranian documentary series on Hollywood cinema, featuring “Saving Private Ryan,” which aired on IRINN – the Iranian News Channel on May 27, 2008:

Narrator: The concentrated efforts of the Zionist lobbies in America have led the U.S. government to be the greatest supporter of the regime occupying Jerusalem. In recent years, following the exposure of certain information, hatred towards the Zionists has developed and intensified among various sectors of society in this country. Therefore, some of the efforts of the Zionist propaganda machine are intended to improve the image of Zionism, and to paint a false picture of the historical role of the Zionists in American society.

[...]

Dr. Majid Shah-Hosseini, an Iranian film critic: [In “The Matrix”], Zion symbolizes the utopian Jewish Zionist land. These are the roots of Zionism. How come in such a popular and seemingly fictional American film, the utopia of liberty and humanity, which heralds the era of modernity – in the technical, rather than theoretical sense – is symbolized by a Zionist name – “Zion”? Moreover, names may be selected for their rhyming value. “Zion” sometimes becomes “Ryan,” as in “Saving Private Ryan.” They exploit even the similarity of names. The Jewish Steven Spielberg, whose previous film, “Schindler’s List,” reflected Zionist goals, and who turned the false story of the holocaust into an influential movie, is now making a new movie, about Private Ryan.

[...]

Murtaza Ali-Abbas Mirzai, an Iranian documentary filmmaker: In “Saving Private Ryan,” one sees that they are the ultimate plunderers. The scene in which the officer puts some earth from various countries into cans was just a preview of what they are doing now – taking the land of Iraq, Afghanistan, and the European countries.

[...]

Narrator: While the blacks and other minorities protest the fact that Hollywood ignores their role in American history, but to no avail, prominent films like “Saving Private Ryan” highlight the role of Jewish soldiers. By exaggerating this role, the Zionists seem to be trying to achieve legitimacy for their post-war actions. In the military cemetery shown in the opening scene of the film, the picture has been edited to draw attention to the Jewish graves among others.

[...]

Among the more unpleasant scenes of the film are the scenes in which a Jewish soldier directs his rage towards German POWs. When he sees some German soldiers wearing jewelry with symbols of his religion, this soldier has a fit of rage and attacks them. In these scenes, the film director presents a completely sympathetic view of this soldier’s rage towards the helpless POWs. It seems as if this cry of rage is the cry of Zionism validating the crimes perpetrated by Zionism after the world war.

Did this asshat watch the same film as the rest of us? The character, Pvt. Irving "Fish" Melish, teases some of the POWs by showing them his Star of David necklace and saying "Look! I am 'juden'!" But, the film never depicts German soldiers wearing such symbols (like they'd have been allowed to do that!). "Fish" NEVER physically attacks these POWs, though.

Neither...or both. I think he is a talentless hack who simply found his niche, getting people who don't value their security clearances to give classified military information so he can reprint it. Any monkey can do it. The interesting thing is, how exactly does this color all of the NYT's faux outrage over the Valerie Plame BS? When they thought Rove did it, it was the most evil thing in the world, now they do the same thing with utter disregard. All rhetorical, obviously the NYTs doesn't care about anything except making Bush look bad, like he needs the help of the NYTs.

Also, anyone see the Geraldo thing last night? He asked a good question, how can Iraq go from 23% of news coverage in 2007 to 3% in 2008? One of the talking heads claimed it was because it suddenly became too expensive and/or dangerous. Which, of course is a complete lie, since violence is down in Iraq to below 03/2004 levels. They can't even come up with a good lie nowadays.

Wow. A very strong report from der Spiegel about Islamic sponsored antisemitism in Germany. I imagine this will induce rage and seething. Wipe out the Jews: Anti-Semitic hate speech in the name of Islam

What is the source of this profound hatred, which stations like al-Aqsa and al-Manar are spreading and one in 10 of the Muslim students surveyed embraces? The Middle East conflict is often cited as a reason, but this is too simplistic. Hostility toward Jews has existed since Islam came into being. In its charter, Hamas quotes the Prophet Muhammad as saying: "The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Muslim, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him." Through the use of such language, the hatred of Jews is given a religious justification.

Nazi Germany entered the picture in the 20th century. The Nazis, hoping to use early Islamic hostility toward Jews for their own ends, paid substantial sums of money to support the Muslim Brotherhood's anti-Jewish campaigns in Egypt. And just as they had radicalized widespread Christian anti-Semitism in Europe, the Nazis did their utmost to radicalize the latent anti-Judaism that had originated in early Islam.

there is a long history of anti semitism under islam. in the per-modern period the euro version was worse but that is by degree and not to give the islamic history a pass. And since the 19th century the middleast has absorbed the euro versions of anti semitism including the protocals and nazi beliefs. Post WW2 the muslim world has the worst anti semitic record. And the Iranians are trying to compete with the germans for the title of worst anti semite.

Cue Stan Marsh [NSFW], that there is a whole lotta crazy.

A can of sand is the ultimate plunder?

The Mullahcracy is acting more and more like a cornered cat. If they were really in a position of strength they wouldn't be flapping their jaws so much. They know the game is over in one night of bombing and there won't even be a war to speak of because their missile launching pads and entire naval fleet will be destroyed.

The critic can only get away with this kind of stuff because of the censorship that Iran exercises over information entering Iran. I hope that our government can get the truth to the Iranians. If they knew the truth they would be even less supportive of the regime than they currently are.
Funny thing (well not so funny) is I watched C-Span this morning and some woman claims that Iran is behaving as it is because they are upset at what we have done to them and they wanted to embarrass President Carter.

re: #30 mickthemick

Among the more unpleasant scenes of the film are the scenes in which a Jewish soldier directs his rage towards German POWs. When he sees some German soldiers wearing jewelry with symbols of his religion, this soldier has a fit of rage and attacks them.

Since no one in Iran has (legally) been allowed to see Saving Private Ryan, or any other Spielberg film since 1979, does it matter? His audience probably either believes whatever they're told or, especially likely among the under-35 population, doesn't believe a word he says on any subject.

It's tha Mab Mullahs' version of a circle jerk.

re: #75 Mich-again

Not directly, I don't imagine. That would be far too dangerous for the opposition, because it would surely be uncovered, especially since evidence of a long history of CIA incompetence in this regard is becoming clear. The Mad Mullahs' police state apparatus is very efficient at stamping out organized resistance at the first flicker. They've ruthlessly smashed student protests on several occasions.

On top of that, we have our own "spies" for the Islamic Republic: the Seymour Hershes in the West would be all too happy to spill the beans about Bush Administration "meddling" in Iran.

Couldn't we provide them lots of the film that could be distributed to the population to undermine this dis-information?

Iran to ready thousands of graves for enemy soldiers

Iran is to dig 320,000 graves in border districts to allow for the burial of enemy soldiers in the event of any attack on its territory, a top commander said on Sunday.

"In implementation of the Geneva Conventions... the necessary measures are being taken to provide for the burial of enemy soldiers," the Mehr news agency quoted General Mir-Faisal Bagherzadeh as saying.

"We have plans to dig 15,000 to 20,000 graves in each of the border provinces or a total of 320,000," the general said, some of them mass graves if necessary.

Bagherzadeh said Iran was keen to "reduce the suffering of the families of the fallen in any attack against our country... and prevent any repetition of the long and bitter experience of the Vietnam War."

What the hell, are they planning on killing every U.S. soldier in Iraq more than twice?

Uh, because it makes sense, perhaps?

Should it have been called Mecca? A dusty, sweaty citadel of gynophobia, xenophobia, and slavery?

(actually, I found the Matrix's use of Zion faintly offensive, as it hinted of 'replacement theology'. Maybe I'm reading into it even more than the Persian critic)

A few million Jews have duped the entire West, with all its wealth and genius, Alps, North Sea oil fields, Canadian gold and diamond mines, Italian cultural treasures, English meadows, Loire palaces, and 10 star Place Pigalle hookers, into helping them get hold of and keep a speck of dusty, swampy, malaria infested land, a mere 0.3% of the land occupied by the Arab world.

Yes that makes sense. What better use of Jewish genius and control can there possibly be?

The 320,000 graves are to conceal how many of their own people will die in a concerted missle and air attack on their diverse nuclear facilities. The Iranian population ain't that fond of Ahmadinejad and the mullahs, so they have to disinform and control information if an attack occurs, to stir up patriotism and also save face.

Norman Schwarzkopf

Stormin' Norman was completely correct in that assessment.

Totally aside from his complete lack of military prowess, however, he was rather good at creating an impression of strength and power to his populace (to a lesser degree, since they also suffered at his hands) and to the greater middle-east region.

He was seen to be a fighter for Muslims and Arabs across the region, someone who stood up to the great and fearsome U.S. and it's allies, and remained in power.

This was an unfortunate side-effect of not finishing the job in Gulf War One.

They also used these kids to clear mine fields. Sick fuggers.

I heard blood-curdling stories of the Iran/Iraq war from Iraqi veterans. They described human wave assaults against their trenches, with Revolutionary Guards and brainwashed children swarming out to find the mines and draw fire, followed by the more deliberate Iranian regulars.
The latter were more or less properly equipped and trained, and led by American trained officers. The fanatics seldom got as far as the Iraqi trenches but you were dead if they did: they saw Arabs as sub-human, and they took no prisoners. The regulars could at least be counted on not to shoot prisoners out of hand.

I'm Wesley Clark and I'm an stupid asshole

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Retired US General Wesley Clark on Sunday said Republican White House hopeful John McCain lacked executive experience to be president, in rare criticism of the Vietnam veteran's military service.

Clark told CBS television that McCain was a hero for enduring years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam "but he hasn't held executive responsibility.

"That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded -- that wasn't a wartime squadron. He hasn't been there and ordered the bombs to fall."

Clark, former NATO supreme allied commander, said McCain's combat experience as a fighter pilot did not make him more qualified to be president than Democratic candidate Barack Obama.

"Well, I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president," he said.

Ah, so obviously the junior Senator from Illinois with no record to speak of is a better choice.

Iran-Basij Militia

The Basij (also Bassij or Baseej, or Baseej-e Mostaz'afin, or "The Mobilized Oppressed," (or Persian: بسيج), is a volunteer based Iranian paramilitary force founded by order of the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini on November 1979. There is a local Basij organization in just about every city in Iran.....
They are perhaps most famous for providing the volunteers that made up the human wave attacks against the Iraqis during the Iran-Iraq War, particularly around Basra.[3] The Basij are subordinate to, and obey the orders of, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Note that this force of fanatics is found in every Iranian town, its Iran-Iraq war suicide troops are praised to the rafters in regime propaganda, and it outnumbers the regular army by a considerable margin. Ground war in Iran would involve a hellish massacre.

The Fedayeen Saddam were quite similar, though not as large. They could well have been inspired by the Basij, since they were not organized until 1995 . They were effectively a personal militia headed by Saddam's son Uday and reporting directly the palace. Like the Basij, they included boys as young as ten.

The Iranians fought the Iraqis to a standstill after 8 years of fighting. Million plus dead - most on the Iranian side. The Iranians would fare even worse against a real military power. The only thing the Iranians have going for them is that they have long range missiles that they'd rain down on Israel or US interests in the region. And given US and Israeli missile defense systems, it provides some measure of security against casualties but not 100% safety.

The talk of the graves is the talk of bluster for domestic consumption, though I wonder how many Iranians think that the mullahs could defeat the Israelis or the Americans - they surely must have seen and heard what happened to Saddam next door.

Yes, exactly!

This is why he refused to be let go by his captors in Viet Nam. Had he left, they would have scored a major propaganda coup, and treated those left behind even worse!

Instead of release, McCain chose years more torture and confinement, knowing that if he left, the morale of those other U.S. servicemen would have been dealt a serious morale blow, and been more easily interrogated (read "tortured"). Btw, the Fedayeen Saddam provided most of the resistance during the original invasion of Iraq in 2003, ambushing allied supply columns, and murdering Iraqi army deserters and other "defeatist" elements.

One of their favorite tactics was to feign surrender, then open fire at point-blank range. Very few Fedayeen were taken prisoner after an incident like this killed nine US Marines near Nasariyah.
Large concentrations of Fedayeen met the Third Infantry Division' famous "Thunder Run" into Baghdad in April 2004. Poor training, inadequate weapons and utterly reckless tactics led to enormous losses. Some 1500 Iraqis were killed during the "Run," the great majority from the Fedayeen Saddam.

Good evening all. Don't usually watch any of the Sunday morning news shows, this happened to be on in the back ground this morning and I stopped to watch this segment. Unbelievable!

[Link: www.cbsnews.com...]

As far back as the 1700s, the famed explorer Daniel Boone said that "All you need for happiness is a good gun, a good horse, and a good wife."

Not my definition of happiness.

In modern day New York City, guns are a part of our life. People shoot and are shot almost every day, and a disproportionate number of those people are people of color. How do you deal with that?

I'm scared of guns, never played with guns, and jump whenever a firecracker pops. Gun violence is quick, devastating, and impersonal. Can't we human beings figure out another way of conflict resolution?

I played a cop in a movie once, and when I put on my costume and the big belt to hold my billy club and gun, something weird happened: I looked in the mirror - A black woman with a badge and a gun? Yeah, I was super-bad! I was "Christie Love," and Emma Peel on "The Avengers," and all three of "Charlie's Angels."

(I probably looked more like Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show").

I caught myself posing with the gun and was stunned. What was I doing? Guns aren't toys, they're not sexy, and they're not some accessory. They're for real. I put the gun back in my belt and never touched it again.

According to the NRA, there are an estimated 200 million privately-owned firearms in the United States, including almost 65 million handguns. Good grief! Who owns them? Private citizens, and members of groups as varied as Gays and Lesbians for Individual Liberty, 126 Women State Legislatures, and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership.

I know they don't all think like Daniel Boone, and I wonder why some still hunt when you can get meat already wrapped at the supermarket. I'd like to understand them better.

The comedian Chris Rock had a brilliant idea that I think both gun owners and gun control advocates could agree with (or "agree to").

Instead of gun control, he says, "we need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost five thousand dollars. Because if a bullet cost five thousand dollars, we wouldn't have any innocent bystanders."

Sounds like a good start to me.

re: #267 shiplord kirel

I know. The Republican Guards told our interrogators horror stories about them. We got to hear some of those stories in our daily intel briefings.

You are certainly welcome to your opinion of his elected service to this country. It was just that when you quoted Sun Tzu, and referenced a military matter, I merely assumed that you were impugning his military service.

Regarding that aspect of his lifetime of service, I think (personally, as a former service member and combat vet) that he has shown consistent and commendable action, activism, and legislation. For which I am extremely grateful.

This is not to say I agree with him on alot (or even most) of his domestic policies, but even those are better than the alternative. To think otherwise is foolish to a remarkable degree.

HELL EXPLAINED BY A CHEMISTRY STUDENT_

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well:

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell.

Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+

Click picture to play video. Requires Windows Media Player; Mac users should install Flip4Mac.

Charles on the off-chance you see this and know the answer to the question:

I just recently (about ten days ago) did indeed install the latest version of Flip4Mac. But for some reason, whenever i click on one of these Windows Media videos, not only does it not play properly, it completely freezes up Safari, and I have to force quit.

When I do a search (in the Help menu) for "Installed Plugins," I get a list that includes:

Flip4Mac Windows Media Plugin 2.2
and
Flip4Mac Windows Media Web Plugin 2.2

...with all the file types listed:

video/x-ms-wm
video/x-ms-asf-plugin
video/x-ms-asf
audio/x-ms-wax
application/asx
video/x-ms-asx
video/x-ms-wmv
application/x-mplayer2
application/x-oleobject
video/x-ms-wmp
video/x-ms-wmx
audio/x-ms-wma
video/x-ms-wvx

So what could be the problem?

Safari 3.1.1 on OSX 10.4.11.

Also, the same thing happens if I encounter Windows Media files on any other site.

ALSO, strangely: PDFs no longer load properly in the browser, though they did before my Flip4Mac upgrade, even though "Adobe Acrobat and Reader Plug-in" is also listed as installed.

Very frustrating!

A simple solution to the Iran mess. Switch Olberman and Ahmadinejad.
Olberman sounds just as "rational" as Ahmadinejad and if made Iran's President would only want to nuke O'Reilly, not Israel.

Ahmadinejad rants just as insanely as Olberman, and would get much higher ratings given his comparative sophistication to Olberman, plus his ability to give off an aura and talk to messiahs in a well.

It's a win-win.

At the other end of the spectrum, The Record of North Jersey had a story today about how private surgery centers were billing insurance companies tens of thousands of dollars for procedures that would have cost $900 at a regular hospital, or $888 and change via Medicaid.

Metropolitan Surgery Center bill for cortisone injections in lower back:

* $34,591.87 to the center
* $489.31 for the doctor
* $420 for the anesthesiologist

What the charges would have been for this same 10-minute procedure had it been done at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center:

* About $900 to the hospital (under the very same plan that paid $34,591.87)
* $881.71 if the patient was on Medicare

Sources: Alan Weissler, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield

So, you want medical care that is affordable? How about trying to figure out how and why the surgery center thinks that it can charge $35k for a procedure that should have cost no more than $900. The insurance companies picked up the tab, but they're passing it along to everyone else in the form of higher premiums.

Medicaid is right in the ballpark with the hospital cost. Either the surgery center was gouging the price knowing insurance was picking up the tab, or the hospital was seriously getting shortchanged.

Either way, someone isn't getting the costs right. And taxpayers are ultimately going to foot the bill.

Oh, dear.

I don't do medical billing, but I know a little tiny bit about it. In workers' comp, for instance (which I know just a bit about, since I worked for the Workers' Compensation Institute back in the early 90's), adjustments to the amounts paid for a procedure are done only ever 10 years.

I don't know precisely what the issues are - I suspect they're nowhere near as simple as you or I would think - but my first question would be, "When was the price for the procedure under Medicare set?"

After that, one could begin asking about the surgery center. I would wonder, though, if there isn't more to the story. Insurance companies have a tendency to fight what they view as unreasonable charges, and if the reviewers don't have a darn good reason for paying $35,000 for a $900 procedure, I would be astonished.

Didn't see it. A lttle late to the party.
On of the things that providers do, is negotiate deep discounts with carriers like Blue Cross.
In return the insurance company waives their right to audit the bill.
That leaves the providers free to upcode & unbundle.

They definitely look different, and when fired feels different. Like I said, I have no idea what the French use, especially since they are not a NATO country. Probably some goofy, weird Belgian stuff.

The FAMAS, which is the standard rifle of the French army uses 5.56 NATO even though they are not a NATO member.

The Stgw90 (SiG 55X series) which is the standard rifle of the Swiss army also uses 5.56 NATO and the Swiss are not NATO members either.

Both the French and the Swiss stopped using non-NATO standard rifle cartridges during the 1980's IIRC ...I think they both wanted standardize with NATO even thought they weren't NATO members because they would have allied with NATO against a Soviet invasion of Western Europe.

Both the french and the Swiss previously used a 7.5mm dia. rifle bullet but the cartridge sizes were different.

This is important. The Anglican communion is Councilliar in nature. In that it more closely resembles the Eastern (Greek) Orthodox model of governance. In fact the whole historical justification for their schism from the Church of Rome is that the Papacy moved away from reliance on Councils and that the Anglicans are the true Catholic Church.

"It will be none of this summit's business to choose the titles for leaders, it is the business of this summit to see what we are going to do for the suffering people and masses in Africa," Tanzanian Foreign Minister Bernard Membe remarked when asked if he would address Mugabe as president."

Conservative Anglicans seem to have good relations with the Orthodox churches. I belonged to a Conservative Anglican diocese in California that had split from the ECUSA many years ago when the ECUSA rejected the 1928 Prayer Book. They are very big on "early music" and our choir director was fond of Russian Orthodox music so he would often mix in Russian Orthodox hymns along with the traditional Anglican hymns and Celtic monastic chant type stuff.

OK, fine, but if they negotiated deep discounts, $35,000 for a (say) $3500 procedure isn't exactly a discount (I'm assuming that the Medicare amount is ridiculously low).

Upbundling - as I recall from working on a paper on fraud - is usually a matter of including other procedures with the main one. Upcoding is coding for a more expensive procedure, but there's a limit to how much of that can be done - and under an agreement such as you're describing, that might be possible to a limited degree, but surely there would be some oversight to see that the agreement is being kept? There's no point in negotiating something that's ignored to that extent, and the insurance companies are not in it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Have you fired an M4? If so, how does it compare?

I've fired an M4, but none of the other weapons... so can't compare.

I'm quite envious... even with Heller, no way I'll be able to buy such toys while living in DC.

South Africa props up Mugabe actively by running interference for him. So does China. They give their rubber stamp to the elections by referring him as president, even though there's no reason to believe he won it in a free or fair election. Mugabe has taken over his country as a dictatorship. You can quibble that it's a soft dictatorship or a failed democracy, but the fact is that Tsvangirai won the regular election (which Mugabe squelched the results demanding a runoff), and the runoff results announced within hours - with an overwhelming majority to boot.

Mugabe is a dictator for life. And he's playing with dictator's rules. There's no other way around it. He can call himself President, but he decides what happens with totality. There's no dissent, and he has his thugs do his bidding.

i say use the dogs.
use the procedure that has always been used to combat the problem.
the need to actually save the lives of innocent people far out weighs the demand of a moslem to not be around a dog.
pc absurdities will get us killed.

I saw the Israelis use FN handguns.

I sometimes think they use damn near every type of handgun in existence!
I know they've used the FN Browning High Power, as well as their own design pistols like the IMI Jericho, which is a derivative of the Czech CZ-75, as well as Glocks, SiGs and others.

The Israelis used to build the FN-FAL rifle under license as well, Israeli pattern FAL's are very cool and authentic ones command a premium price among FAL collectors...there are a lot of kit guns out there that may have Israeli stocks, handguards and gas block/front sight assembly but originals were not imported in any great number to the US.

But dogs can do the same thing more efficiently. If the government enacted your idea there should be a premium charge for folks who don't like dogs.

I know that. Work with me here. We are talking about government, being fast or cheap is not a concern. Being fair and uniform in offering a thorough service so everyone is assured that everyone else has been inspected is the concern. Government can't charge you more based upon your religious or medical situation. That would be a big No No. But government can't promise that the special substitute offered to meet your special needs will not mean that you spend 2 hours sitting in a small room waiting for the Special Human Inspection Team to arrive. Sorry but that is how government works. Enjoy your flight, whenever.

More recent demographics have displayed a noticeable shift. I play a fair amount of private parties (BlackHawk, Hillsboro, Atherton, et al). Almost always for Democrats.
No, I don't have a linky, but it is has been widely written about the last five years, that the Democrats are now the party of big, private money. Republicans are more inclined to be working stiffs who prefer their taxes low.

Thank you for the link to that excellent article.

This is what is says about the author:

"Hamburg political scientist Matthias Küntzel, 53, is a member of the board of directors of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East. His recent book 'Islamic anti-Semitism and German Politics,' was recently published by LIT Verlag."

Met an immigrant from South Africa yesterday, who was born in Zimbabwe. We had some time to visit. I asked him about his thoughts, he said (this chilled me)...

"I weep for my people many times every day".

He is a retired professor. I weep for this man and his people.

When was the last time you saw someone on the Left try to win a dispute by making a logical argument ? I dunno, I may be succumbing to early-onset Alzheimers, but ...

True, but they prefer to attack the messenger rather than the message. Of course the press obscures the message, but it seems like it will get worse.

Where does that notion - that Republicans are rich - come from? I hear it from both the left and the right, and it annoys me. Most people I know who are republican are middle-class family people. I'm a bit of an exception because I'm not married, and have no children, though I am a property owner.

Funny you should mention that. I was just earlier this evening taking a stroll through the neighborhood here in DC where I'd like to live... right after I win Powerball. LOTS of "Obama '08" signs out on lawns. But I suppose, being Democrats, the folks living in those spectacular houses are just honest, salt of the earth, blue collar folks, just like George Soros and Barbara Streisand.
