The real persuaders are our appetites, our fears and above all our vanity. The skillful propagandist stirs and coaches these internal persuaders.

Absurd as it may seem, I'm now plowing through the hundreds of emails I got in 2006 about my "Reuters Photo Fraud" page -- yes, replying to people two years after it's too late -- and updating my essay here and there. I just opened an email I got on August 18, 2006, laughed aloud, and made this little addition at the very bottom of the page, in the "Additional Links" section:

Not a link, but a funny final footnote nonetheless: zombietime reader Philip S. points out that if you rearrange the letters of

"Adnan Hajj from inside Reuters, Inc."

you get

"Man 'errs' for jihad; End an injustice!"

I only wish I had opened that email sooner!

Accidental fungus leads to promising cancer drug

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A drug developed using nanotechnology and a fungus that contaminated a lab experiment may be broadly effective against a range of cancers, U.S. researchers reported on Sunday.

The drug, called lodamin, was improved in one of the last experiments overseen by Dr. Judah Folkman, a cancer researcher who died in January. Folkman pioneered the idea of angiogenesis therapy -- starving tumors by preventing them from growing blood supplies.

Lodamin is an angiogenesis inhibitor that Folkman's team has been working to perfect for 20 years. Writing in the journal Nature Biotechnology, his colleagues say they developed a formulation that works as a pill, without side-effects.

At the center of our being is a point of nothingness which is untouched by sin and by illusion, a point of pure truth, a point or spark which belongs entirely to God, which is never at our disposal, from which God disposes our lives, which is inaccessible to the fantasies of our own mind or the brutalities of our own will. This little point of nothingness and of absolute poverty is the pure glory of God in us. It is, so to speak, His name written in us…It is like a pure diamond, blazing with the invisible light of heaven. It is in everybody, and if we could see it we would see these billions of points of light coming together in the face and blaze of a sun that would make all the darkness and cruelty of life vanish completely.

Thomas Merton.

Now, this point is inaccessible to the blandishments of which Eric Hoffer speaks; let's try to get there.

I just want a nice handy start page when I bring up firefox. One that lists everything I check each day all in one spot so I don't have to chase them all over the web. The fact it has a public page wasn't real important to me, though maybe it will help someone visiting it get educated on reality.

Saw an Obamaton out shopping yesterday with a big "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" on her shirt. Or was it "Hope we can believe in"? And then there were at least two cars with Obama '08 stickers, one of which spoofed the "Got Milk?" ad, by saying "Got Hope?". This sticker was across the trunk lid from "01-29-09 Bush's last day!".

It must be blissful to be so dumb as to think that the Messiah has come, that his ascension has a date attached to it, and that all will be right with the world if you just believe.

17 injured by live ammo at open day

FOUR people including a child were in a critical condition today after live bullets were used instead of blanks during a French special forces open day, army and regional officials said.

Seventeen people were injured in total.

Fifteen civilians and two soldiers were injured in the incident, of which the details remained unclear, involving a demonstration by members of a marines parachute regiment of hostage liberation exercises, a regional authority, Bernard Lemaire, said.

Four of the 17 were seriously injured, with two described as critical following "incomprehensible'' scenes at the barracks near Carcassone, in the country's south-west.

According to local authorities, five children were among the injured.

Five helicopters, 11 firefighters' first-aid vehicles and two ambulances rushed to the scene to help the injured.

One soldier had been detained, although no explanation was immediately forthcoming for why the wrong ammunition was loaded into weapons.

In honor of that last thread, I am watching "Saving Private Ryan"

I make it a point to watch the first ten minutes on every June 6th. Curiously, I find myself more affected by the anniversary as time goes on, not less.

I sometimes worry that we may not have that kind of pure courage in us anymore. The guts to stand at the front of that boat, look up at the gates of Mordor, and say "Let's go!"

I started watching the Discovery channel NASA missions program today (I had recorded it last week, hadn't got around to watching it) and it occurred to me that it's entirely possible that the high point of American achievement was the mid-1960s, give or take a few years. Since then we have better tech and more toys, but has anything really gotten better?

Good grief.

It dawns on me they can henceforth spin every news story in the world the same way. Just keep the TV news projected on that section of The Wall at all times, and then instead of reporting on any particular news event, they can simply report on the Palestianians' reactions to it, while simultaneously making us all feed sad about the wall.

Examples:

-------------------------

Palestinians watch with excitement as the Mars Rover discovers life on the surface of the Red Planet, as images of the strange Martian creatures are projected on the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank refugee camp of Aida, near Bethlehem.

...or...

Palestinian watch Lindsay Lohan as she is dragged off to jail for punching a photographer, in the West Bank refugee camp of Aida, near Bethlehem.

...or...

Palestinians can barely keep awake, stupefied with boredom as they camp in front of our cameras for the 34th consecutive day to watch a kitten being rescued from a tree in Poughkeepsie, New York, the scene being projected as usual on the evil Separation Wall of Doom in the West Bank refugee camp of Aida, near Bethlehem.

One-woman peace tour scoots through Seattle

The 2008 Peace Scooter tour was in Seattle this weekend. But there weren't hundreds of scooters or people.
There was just one young lady - and just one scooter.

Her name is Alix Bryan, and she wants peace - for herself and for you.

"Well I wanted to put peace on the map," she says.

So she is literally driving around the nation, in the shape of a peace sign.

No matter how fucked up your spring was, couold it beat this for a hard-working family from Nigeria?

A Nigerian couple who immigrated to Austin a decade ago thought they had finally made it in America. On May 7, they closed on their first home in the States, buying a $283,000 Cedar Park house that had been headed for foreclosure.

It seemed like a good deal to Bobo and Joy Dickson. They did everything right, they thought. They got a mortgage lender, signed the papers, had the title put in their name .

But on May 14, they came home from work at their janitorial services company to find that all their furniture, family heirlooms, personal photos, clothes, even their daughter's piggybank, had disappeared.

After filing a theft report with the Cedar Park Police Department, the Dicksons were given the news. In a mix-up over whether the home was still facing foreclosure, Field Asset Services was hired to drill open the doors and seize the belongings.

SNIP

Spread the word, folks. This is unacceptable. This is happening in the United States of America.

Introducing the Obama Mood Ring by NeoConHQ

From 1946 to 1964, Filipinos celebrated their Independence from Spain on July 4th. But what are you going to get your favorite Obama supporter for this little known and forgotten holiday? You could give them a Philippine flag lapel pin but you just realized it would clash with their Che Guerva cufflinks.

NeoConHQ has solved your problem with the Obama Fanatic Mood Ring. For decades, the mood ring has been a favorite of preteen girls but now it's become popular with a group nearly as emotional. Your favorite Obama worshiper will love it.

Trust me, you'll be glad you gave them this because, let's face it, it can be difficult to tell what an Obama supporter is thinking when they are not typing in ALL CAPS. The stone changes color to tell you what the Obamaniacs current emotional state is. This ring has been built 4 times more durable than the average mood ring to withstand the Obama fanatic's wild mood swings.

re: #637 Capitalistincharge

I am deeply involved in technology that was the subject of a New York Times article this week. We are talking about a Sunday New York Times front page lead story complete with charts and comparisons, and the implication to a lay person is that what they have just read should be a well-researched, informative overview of the topic at hand. It is not.
I’m really pissed-off because once again the Times has passed-off shoddy, poorly researched journalism as “the news.” And in this case, people may physically suffer for it.
The NYT has outlived its benefit to its readers and to society.

I think it has gone way farther than her not getting the nomination.
I believe she will, behind the scenes, try to get him not elected so she can say I told you so and step in, in 2012

That is the sort of action that I expect from them, but they don't exactly have a history of being able to keep their actions quiet. It could backfire badly for them. Should be amusing over here anyway.

Here is the quote:

Clark said that McCain lacked the executive experience necessary to be president, calling him "untested and untried" on CBS’ "Face the Nation." And in saying so, he took a few swipes at McCain’s military service.

After saying, "I certainly honor his service as a prisoner of war. He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands and millions of others in the armed forces, as a prisoner of war," he added that these experiences in no way qualify McCain to be president in his view:

"He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And he has traveled all over the world. But he hasn't held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn't a wartime squadron," Clark said.

Wow! Be careful, though, MS-13 are the worst. My husband has arrested a few 18th Street gang members, some crips and another kid with an unknown affiliation....got an award for that one from the city of Glendale. The good story out of all of it was there was a guy with the moniker of "Speedy" with the 18th St. gang. Hubby arrested him many times and Speedy would be back in the neighborhood after the questioning sooner than my hubby was every time but we found out years after we moved from that neighborhood that Speedy turned his life around and became a CPA.

re: #72 Pawn of the Oppressor

I make it a point to watch the first ten minutes on every June 6th. Curiously, I find myself more affected by the anniversary as time goes on, not less.

I sometimes worry that we may not have that kind of pure courage in us anymore. The guts to stand at the front of that boat, look up at the gates of Mordor, and say "Let's go!"

No matter how bad things get, society seems to fall apart, and apathy appears to hold sway. There Will ALWAYS be those who will stand up and face evil because it must be done. You won't hear them in the regular day to day discourse of events, but they are there, watching and listening, keeping quiet. But when the need arises they will stand as one and say, "Not while I am still alive!" So don't lose hope, don't worry about the apparent lose of courage. It is still there, sleeping and dreaming and listening. Waiting for the time it is required again to stand. Think of England and the hoped for return of King Arthur. He is all of us.

Damn, I'm getting a flurry of correspondence from people I've replied to (two years after they originally wrote to me) concerning my fauxtography essay. Each email is more interesting than the last! I should have answered these years ago.

Just got the one below. Remember Ezra Levant, the Canadian magazine publisher who got in hot water with the Orwellian "Human Rights Commission" when Muslims complained about his publishing of the Motoons?

Well, completely unrelated to that, someone two years ago sent me a suggestion for my essay, and I finally wrote back to him, and he just wrote back to me. Here it is:

have you seen these short videos of a Human rights hearing [interrogation] of my son - almost 600,000 views  ?

[Link: youtube.com...]

I looked at the name on the email again -- holy cow, I had been corresponding with Ezra Levant's father, without realizing it!

Hey Macker! Thanks for that - he is a little fucking weasel for sure. And I loved this (from your link):

"Given that Clark attempted to bomb the CNN bureau in Belgrade and ordered the British General Michael Jackson to engage Russian troops in combat at the end of the war, we feel events amply vindicated our forecast. [emphasis irresistibly added, realwest!]

"With the end of hostilities it has become clear even to Clark that most people, apart from some fanatical members of the war party in the White House and State Department, consider the general, as one Pentagon official puts it, 'a horse's ass.' Defense Secretary William Cohen is known to loathe him, and has seen to it that the Hammer of the Serbs will be relieved of the Nato command two months early."

ATTENTION ARIZONA LIZARDOIDS! There is a Bloggers' Bash coming up, hosted by Vox (and yes, it's OK with her):

Date/Time: Saturday, July 26th, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Location: Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe, AZ.

Let's turn this into an Outdoor Lizard Lounge!

We should do at at the 4 Peaks in Scottsdale. That way we can go to Scottsdale Gun Club first and work up a proper thirst.

Well heck, even if they don't want to move it to Scottsdale, I am inviting all AZ lizards to meet at Scottsdale Gun Club before hand. I'm thinking around Noon. Gives us a couple hours on the range and then time to get down to Tempe by 3:00, which is on the way home from SGC for me anyway.

I think I still have 6 guest passes available. You'll have to pay for your own ammo and firearm rental if you don't have a shootin' iron, and if you don't what kind of Zonie lizard are you? (Just kidding). I'm more than happy to let a fellow lizard or lizardette shoot some of my own.

Yep

California is currently ranked fourth in the nation among oil producing states, behind Louisiana, Texas, and Alaska, respectively. Crude oil production in California averaged 731,150 barrels per day in 2004,

I think it means number of kills. For all I know he could have been MS-13. They were from El Salvador, as I remember, and ripping their elderly landlord off of everything, even badgering him into renting his other units to their relatives and none of them paying rent. My husband had been the landlord's plumber for years and he'd go over there, towards the end, and the elderly man had nothing, not even much furniture. We told the cops, then a couple of weeks later the wife took the old man to the bank and tried to cash a fat check. When the cops arrived at the house I went out and told them, again, about all of the other theft.

Killings among rival Biker gangs for distribution territory were very high in the mid to late 90's in those parts ( I think they used "Big Sky" or at least open range areas to make that shit cause it apparently can be smelled a LONG way away).

Your pictures are incredibly vivid! But you must pay the piper with huge file sizes. Over 500kb for each full-size photo that is clicked on! There must be a way to make 'em a bit less huge, byte-wise. I try to keep mine around 60kb each, just so the hamsters don't die!

More quotes attributed to Eric Hoffer:

A dissenting minority feels free only when it can impose its will on the majority: what it abominates most is the dissent of the majority

Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for lost faith in ourselves.

It is remarkable by how much a pinch of malice enhances the penetrating power of an idea or an opinion. Our ears, it seems, are wonderfully attuned to sneers and evil reports about our fellow men.

In light of the recent dust-ups over ID and such, perhaps the first quote would have been more timely than the one originally posted?

Appetite, fear, and vanity.
And the greatest of these is vanity.

Hah! Speak for yourself. When I am really hungry, my concern for my appearance, or what others think of me, is the first thing to go out the window, closely followed by whatever fears that might hold me back from getting a meal.

Obama's Birth Certificate Proves He's Not From Earth

In another distraction meant to keep American voters away from the real issues, Fox News channel announced today that the GOP is in possession of a birth certificate proving beyond doubt that Barack Obama's real birthplace is, in fact, planet Lappa IV, located in the Alpha Quadrant and inhabited by a splinter group of the Ferengi species, who have developed a highly collectivist culture based on the principles of socialist acquisition and redistribution of wealth.

Funny! Read the whole thing. My favorite part are the pictures of Obama and Carville as Ferengi. rofl

Charles,

Thought this Ars Technica story might be of interest, regarding the recent findings of Richard Lenski's E. Coli "evolution" experiment at Michigan State (which has already been discussed here, but not this angle):

Bacteria evolve; Conservapedia demands recount

Conservapedia's Andy Schlafly is apparently a moron that doesn't understand how the research process for stuff like this works (and apparently doesn't care to, since that would implode his anti-evolution paradigm). Several people who opposed him and supported Lenski's responses to Schlafly's demands for all of the data from the experiment (which, by and large, is already in the final report) apparently got the boot from Conservapedia and had their accounts blocked, according to the article.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...you just can't fix stupid.

I'm wondering if their search engine found my page by accident or if one of you lizards are messing with the stumbleupon people by listing my Obama mood ring page in jewelry. Either way is fine I'm just curious how an obvious parody ended up in a jewelry search

re: #447 Neo Con since 9-11

Well it is about a mood ring, so it probably got tagged by a search engine. That's one explanation.

Well I must admit that I saw Ronald Reagan as our deliverer from Jimmy Carter. The last day of Carter's presidency and RR's inauguration was a day when the clouds parted and the sun shone through. I thought, "WE'RE SAVED!"

However, I cannot understand how Obama, of all people, evokes that kind of feeling in anyone.

re: #55 Pawn of the Oppressor

Saw an Obamaton out shopping yesterday with a big "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" on her shirt. Or was it "Hope we can believe in"? And then there were at least two cars with Obama '08 stickers, one of which spoofed the "Got Milk?" ad, by saying "Got Hope?". This sticker was across the trunk lid from "01-29-09 Bush's last day!".

It must be blissful to be so dumb as to think that the Messiah has come, that his ascension has a date attached to it, and that all will be right with the world if you just believe.

In the old days, they called that "religion", not "politics".

454 Tigger2005  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 3:09:30am

One challenge with calling myself a conservative is that I'm sure more than 50% of self-identified conservatives take creation science/intelligent design seriously, reject evolution (often regarding it as the cause of much of the evil in the world), and would tell me I'm not a conservative if I don't do the same. However, I refuse to let this group define what a conservative is to me. I think accepting evolution IS a conservative position--a conservative accepts what is demonstrably true. Evolution is not Global Warming--the science and evidence behind it, which has been accumulating for over one hundred years, is solid and overwhelming. In my opinion, it's the IDers like Bobby Jindal who are going against conservative principles by forcing a religion-based pseudoscience like ID into science classrooms.

Had Jindal actually studied this issue, and reviewed the judge's (a conservative Baptist Republican by the way) very thorough opinion in the Pennsylviania case, I think he would have said that while he personally doubted evolution and believed in some kind of intelligent design, he could not in good conscience allow ID to be taught as science to Louisiana students. But he probably had his mind made up and didn't even consider arguments against the bill.

re: #433 talon_262

Heading off on vacation tomorrow... An, approximately, 2800 mile ride on my 06 Goldwing through eastern WA, Idaho, and a 1500 miles of riding around Montana - before heading back home. Doing an Iron Butt certification ride of covering 1000 miles in a specific 24 hour block of time... Start at noon on Wednesday, and by noon on Thursday I have to ride 1000 miles on the scoot, have someone certify the ending mileage, and then send my supporting documentation in for verification.

Obama is "a Christian family man with a record of public service"?
Does show how a few simple words can create a completely false image, does it not. Obama is a Christian (raised Muslim at least in part, signed on to black liberation theology which refuses to worship any god who does not OK the destruction of whites), family (he and his Marxist America-hating wife bring their impressionable young daughters to church on Sundays to hear "God-damn America!" rants from their pastor), with a record of public service (the most liberal one in the senate). And don't forget his distinguished friends in academia, such as the Ayers.

It sickens me that those who disagree with our point of view would rather destoy this country than admit they are wrong in what they do.

Remember the old, "America, love it or leave it"? Their reply was always, it's our country too, and it's good to have dissent. True enough, but when their dissent literally will destroy the best country on earth, I say, GET THE F*CK OUT!

One of the many things I would love to see is "lil pinch" frogmarched to jail, for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

The reality, of course, is that the "utopia" is only for the leaders. They know that and ultimately don't care about the workers except to insist that they remain in their proper place and do what they're told, because the elite "know" what is "best" for everyone. They are authoritarians and class snobs.

Marxism is reactionary; it's aim is to prevent social mobility by reducing everyone to peonage.

Good morning to each of you! I'm doing fine this morning and hope all of you are, too.

FoxNews was all over the NYSlimes story for about 45 seconds, treating it almost as "filler" material between "funny" bits in their morning show, but I don't have a link to the NYT and haven't read the story and therefore have no opinion on it.
However, the "ha-ha" crowd at Fox stated that President Bush asked the NYT to NOT publish the article because it contains operational details, including names and dates, of the hunt for bin Laden and, as usual, the Slimes refused this request from the (still) President of the United States.
If anyone has a link to the article in the Slimes I'd appreciate it if you could post it!

And, in additional news, if you or a loved one or friend is suffering with cancer, there is HOPE!
I put the story in the Spin-off Links about 10 minutes ago but here's the condensed version:

They have licensed it to SynDevRx, Inc, a privately held Cambridge, Massachusetts biotechnology company that has recruited several prominent cancer experts to its board.

Tests in mice showed it worked against a range of tumors, including breast cancer, neuroblastoma, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, brain tumors known as glioblastomas and uterine tumors.

It helped stop so-called primary tumors and also prevented their spread, Ofra Benny of Children's Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School and colleagues reported.

"Using the oral route of administration, it first reaches the liver, making it especially efficient in preventing the development of liver metastasis in mice," they wrote in their report. "Liver metastasis is very common in many tumor types and is often associated with a poor prognosis and survival rate," they added.
There is MUCH much more in the story and although I published a somewhat longer version in the spin-off's I'd encourage all of y'all to go to the link and read the entire article.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. Waking up to this news has put me in a foul mood, mostly because I have seen it coming for months now. The rebuilding at Ground Zero has fallen hopelessly behind, and the Port Authority is a big reason why - they ignored warnings that the schedules weren't being met, and no one in Albany (Pataki, Spitzer, or Paterson) have done anything to get a sense of urgency imparted on those responsible for rebuilding on time. Bloomberg preens much, but does little to get construction moving either.

It's a mess, and pretty much certain that the 9/11 memorial will not be ready by the 10th anniversary, nor will any of the other features at Ground Zero be ready either.

Uh oh - CHARLES - if you've had problems with bots before, watch out now!

Microrobots dance on tiny stage

DURHAM, N.C., Jun 27, 2008 (UPI via COMTEX) -- U.S. researchers said they've created microscopic robots that can dance on a surface smaller than a pin head.

Computer scientist Bruce Donald of Duke University said the microelectromechanical system (MEMS) microrobots are almost 100 times smaller than any previous robotic designs of their kind, the university said in a release.

Videos produced by Donald's research team show two microrobots dancing to a Strauss waltz on a dance floor just 1 millimeter across.

"Our work constitutes the first implementation of an untethered, multi-microrobotic system," Donald's team said in a report presented during the Hilton Head Workshop on Solid State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems in South Carolina.

I watched the flag
Pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Marine
Saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..

I looked at
Him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square
And eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men
Like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign
Soil
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes
Shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers'
Graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of Taps
One night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler Play
And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"

When a flag had draped a
Coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the
Children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and
Husbands
With interrupted lives.

I Thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in
Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

So, to show their solidarity with the Iraqi people , they took in 200,000 immigrants.
Here is a shocker, it's not working out too well. The new immigrants , refuse to assimilate, brought charming customs like honor killings with them & are demanding preferential treatment. Surprising?

A guy I know just got back from a week in Sweden. We talked on the train this morning. He really liked it & said that the people are great.
Here's the kicker, Sweden really disapproves of our intervention in Iraq.
So, to show their solidarity with the Iraqi people , they took in 200,000 immigrants.
Here is a shocker, it's not working out too well. The new immigrants , refuse to assimilate, brought charming customs like honor killings with them & are demanding preferential treatment. Surprising?

What Swedish for 'schadenfruede'?

Just as a side note, fast tracking is not necessary the great thing it's supposed to be. If you look at the Junk Food Science blog, you'll see that several fast-tracked drugs have had serious problems that required them to be removed from the markets.

Yes, the standard track may be slow as molasses, but all those clinical trials are necessary to confirm the safety of the drugs released.

I find that is very vehicle dependent. Our trucks here at work are like that, but my car tends to get 26-29 mpg hwy regardless of speed until I hit about 85 mph. Headwinds and tailwinds affect the mileage much more.

Der Spiegel's Web site reported Saturday that Kruger, director of the Institute for Sport Studies in Göttingen, Lower Saxony, had said the murdered Israeli athletes had prior knowledge of the planned massacre and consciously decided to stay at the Olympic village to sacrifice themselves for the Jewish state. Kruger supported his martyr theory by saying there is a "different perception of the human body" in Israel compared with other industrialized nations. He also said that "Israel is trying to prevent at all costs living with disabilities" and had a higher abortion rate than other Western countries.

West Bank torturers funded by Britain

Millions of pounds of British government money is going to Palestinian security forces which use methods of torture including hanging prisoners by their feet and putting them in "stress" positions for hours at a time, according to evidence to be published next month in a report by Human Rights Watch. Prisoners who have emerged from Palestinian Authority jails - many of whom have never been charged with any offence or even seen a lawyer - said they had been subjected to mock executions, kicked, punched and beaten with sticks, plastic pipes and hoses. A total of £4 billion overall has been promised to the government of Mahmoud Abbas, who is the commander-in-chief of the Palestinian security forces.

re: #643 Ford_Prefect

I drive about 15 miles each way on the highway for work and have found that setting my cruise on 65 helps a lot as well. OK it can be frustrating driving that slow, but another 25 or 30 miles per tank full is significant.

I have added 50 miles to a tank recently by changing some driving habits.

Most significant change was using neutral to drift down long hills that do not need rpms to maintain a decent speed. And, rather than (I read this) using my engines power to generate brake dust, I am coasting up to, instead of accellerating up to a red light or stop sign.

Type "Hyper Mileage" into your search engine. Lot's of very good information available.

Probably the reason the anti obama sites are being shut down. They have the msm in their pockets and do not want dissent in any form.

I think NewsBusters recently revealed that it was a horde of Obamatons smacking the "Mark this page as spam" button on the blogs that was causing the anti obama blogs to go.

I'm teaching my kid how to drive and boy, has my gas mileage gone down! And my poor brakes! But, what you said about accelerating into a red light is right on the money. It's also really educational to have the MPG reading turned on, be at a steady speed, then switch the AC on (or off). Holy cow, 5-10 MPG right there. Suddenly, he thinks it's okay to maybe roll down the window every now and then.

Yeah, like separation of church and state- yet here is the Obamessiah. He's provided a religion for some of those who otherwise don't have one.

Like Richard Pryor said in Carwash: "You got to believe in something- why not believe in me?"

Obama fills a niche.
