Clark Kicked to Curb

Mon, Jun 30, 2008 at 11:08:20 am PDT

Since I’ve received several emails from people complaining that the phrase “thrown under the bus” is getting on their last nerves, how about “kicked to the curb?” Obama to contradict Clark in speech.

Here’s a statement from Obama spokesman Bill Burton on Wes Clark’s controversial comments about McCain’s military service. “As he’s said many times before, Senator Obama honors and respects Senator McCain’s service, and of course he rejects yesterday’s statement by General Clark.”

I'm outraged that you've kicked to the curb the phrase "thrown under the bus".

What's next, "Run it up the flagpole and see who salutes it?"

"kicked to the curb?”

How about "scratched off the list", as in the VP list?

16 nacazo  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 11:12:06am

If BHO gets elected, sometime around 2009 the whole country will be "kicked to the curb" "Thrown under the bus" pick your description.

It's not going to be pretty.

There's a limit to how many folks can thrown under the bus. Even one as big as this one:

That is so beyond ridiculous I almost spit my drink out when I heard it. Though maybe in Clark's mind, running the largest military in the world is like assembling a game of kickball at the local Chicago YMCA.

96 Dahveed  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 11:24:09am

I think Barack needs to man up and just say what he believes without worrying that someone will be offended or upset. (McCain needs to not worry if he upsets anyone either.) If he doesn't truly honor McCain's service then he should say so. I don't care what he says. I won't vote for him anyway. So, he might as well say what's on his mind.

I want a president with a spine. This whole throwing associates under the bus or kicking them to the curb is getting real old. The candidates know who they have on their side. If they are afraid they might say something that will get someone upset then you don't let them interview. If they aren't engaged in illegal activity or saying something obviously offensive then the candidates should stick up for their associates.

Obamah
Pronunciation[Oh-bahm-ah] Pronunciation Key
–verb -hd.
1. to quit or leave entirely; abandon; desert (especially for political expediency): She obamahd her husband because it was well know that his addiction to internet porn would conflict with her family values campaign.
2. to give up or renounce (a habit, way of life, cigarettes, political cronies, spiritual mentors etc).

I rather liked the bus, I think Obama should be allowed to continue throwing people, issues, and policy under it.

As for the pathetic meandering monologues by the esteemed former Gen. Clark, I don't even think he realized how he is being used by the Dem's and the left in general. IMHO, they view him as nothing more than someone than can give them credibility in military matters (see also, Jack Murtha). They probably, deep down, have as much disdain for him as your average former general who supports Repubs or conservatives.

#74 - LOL. Exactly. "Under the bus" is an easily-visualized scenario that comes in handy in a plethora of settings. At work we use it primarily to discuss situations during presentations when the speaker uses the moment to victimize the deserving or otherwise. I have one repeating monthly meeting in front of senior execs [Mt. Rushmore] where prior to the venue a few people will seek me out to determine whether it's their turn in the barrel. While not looking ever to cause my associates trouble, if a question is asked, the softshoe is saved for my own carcass, so, yes, people do get thrown under the proverbial bus.

Well, it looks like Obama has no problem throwing women under the bus either. Take a gander at the pay disparity in his Senate office.

Cybercast News Service reported: “The average pay for all 36 male employees on Obama’s staff was $55,962; and the average pay for all 31 female employees was $48,729.”

That works out to 87¢ for every $1 a man is paid.

But what about Republican Sen. John McCain, huh? Huh? What about him?

CNS: “After excluding interns, the average pay for the 30 women on McCain’s staff was $59,104.51. The 16 non-intern males in McCain’s office, by comparison, were paid an average of $56,628.83.”

That works out to $1.04 for every $1 a man makes.

Oh and Obama’s staff appears to be 50% larger than McCain’s.

The repetition of "under the bus" was annoying, but that was kind of the point. The sheer repetition of times Obama turned on people or HAD to turn on them when his dubious associations were exposed.

One may forget exactly how many stories one heard of his associates being scum, but one would remember hearing the dern phrase repeated, and would have a vague idea of the sheer volume of times one heard it.

And that repetition tells us that Obama has a LOT of unsavory associates.

So he's either the most incompetent judge of character in the history of time....oooooooor, his character is equally unsavory and he agrees and sees nothing wrong with their viewpoints. Until they both are exposed. Then another unsavory characteristic of his, disloyalty, is exposed.

Again and again and again.

And again.

And again. (is this annoying yet?)

And again.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media useful idiots have gotten the smear into the discussion while The Obamination looks like he's taken the high road once again. His drooling, fawning Obamatons fall over themselves admiring their "above it all" Messiah and take his middle name for their own and start naming their kids Barrack and cursing anyone who doesn't see him as the savior of America.

That's why The Obamination can get away with lying and all his anti-American connections. I could give you a very long explanation of how it is possible, but rest assured, it is. He is not a stupid man, it is possible (near certain, in fact) that he had political connections, people in power who liked his style and philosophy. Their is alot of politicking in advancing military officers. This isn't to say that good people don't get promoted, but it certainly means that officers who perhaps shouldn't be, are in fact, promoted.

We now want the new weed, beat under us
Rollin' up, roll like we thunderous
Somkin' up, Rasta not sprinkle dust
Too much ecstasy, make manna exit us
Too much fantasy, here upon next to us
Fit in ganja weed, always notorious
Sucker censor me, if you feel glorious
We have weed in our cakes and Oreo's
Believe me though, death upon your Marlboro
You want my roll, on someone you hardly know
This Marley grow, no time to move feet
Make it slow, you tellin' me no
Say you want to start the show
Like cool, Johnny Depp and you want to blow
You shot, direct; that means you are far bellow
You start to take, substances up in your nose

[Chorus: Damian Marley - 2X]
No nina where you find me
Some boy go rich, blow ninety
We're smokin' like a genie
The skunky and the greenie

[B-Real]
On the ganja bus, they comin' after us
We makin' stops all over Los Angeles
On the block, where the weed that get scandalous
When we run around, police can't handle us
They wanna clout the bus, and on the top be us
They never wanna come around, just a rowdy bunch
Tengo el poder, tu no aguantas
Yo sé, que el juego es dificil para usted
Despiertate, no dejes tu gente ver
Tu situación cuando no puedes mantener
En fuerza que nosotros, enseñale
Deja tu vida sin rastros, escondete
Portate, we flyin' up tu saint tropez
And if you want we can jet through Montego bay

[Chorus: Damian Marley - 2X]
No nina where you find me
Some boy go rich, blow ninety
We're smokin' like a genie
The skunky and the greenie
Senn Dogg!

[Chorus]

[B-Real]
It's so hazardous
Take a strive with us
When it's over California, we react the bus
We fabulous, your talk don't mean jack to us
Better fear for your ass when disaster come
Pass ya' blunts, gonna have to mash it up
For you conniving mothaf**kers wanna stash it up
You actin' up, we can't have that's whats up
Listen Muggs on the table gonna slash it up

That bus gonna need a lift kit.

Maybe Obama needs an industrial shredder. I hear there is one available cheap in Iraq. Might need some work though, I hear it has a lot of hours on it. It was owned by a someone Obama might admire though, so there would be sentimental value to consider.......

a - Thrown under the bus
b - Kicked to the curb
c - Ron Paul

Ron Paul!

He’s going a great job of getting Republicans and others who really don’t like McCain all that much to get a chance to really embrace him over an experience for which Obama has no equal.

As commander of Operation Allied Force (which went into Kosovo) he screwed up the affair at Pristina Airport, made an ass out of himself at press briefings and fudged Bomb Damage Assessments to make his high level bombing campaign look more successful against military targets and less damaging to civilians.

He gave up his honor and became a politician. Instead of teh honorable warrior he was in Vietnam Clark became a politician to reach Generalship.

John Ringo wrote about the fact that so many of our General Officer Corps in the late 90's and at the begging of the GWoT were politicians and not soldiers. I can't find it but I did find this follow up. He predicts the arrival of General Petreaus (though not by name) He's out there

Hey, I kind of like the under-the-bus/under-the-truck metaphor.
It reminds me of how they used to build roads, especially in wartime.

Sadly, it also reminds me of perhaps the second-most (IMO) hallowed ground on US soil. I won't post the images that you can find that will show why, but here's a decent image of The Sunken Road at Antietam National Battlefield.

Why second-most? Arlington comes first. The Arizona memorial comes third. Again, it's my opinion. God rest their souls.

{ Assume the usual flare of emotion. Antietam does that to a man. }

By the way, if you ever get a chance, read President Grant's memoirs.

I understand very well how he made general. What completely stumps me is how he was commissioned in the first place.

Truth is that there are men of poor character and huge ego who make it to the top in the military through subterfuge and wire brushing the crap out of their subordinates. Good news is that most of our military leadership are highly moral and amazingly capable individuals.

AT some point in your military career you have to make a decision about whether you are going to be a politician or a soldier. Most soldiers don't make high rank in the peacetime. Sometime after Clark left Vietnam, sometime after he left teaching at West Point he made a decision. And Honor lost.

In that case the count should be 25, the 4 McCain lost plus the 21 on the Forrestal including McCain's.

No, the 21 plus McCain's should be tallied against the jet-start operator who parked his vehicle's exhaust too close to the plane he was starting.

I categorically deny raising taxes. There are members of the Internal Revenue Service acting without my knowledge or approval....

Through my own carelessness I didn't notice that I was giving Iran the signal it needed to proceed with its nuclear program...

I would never question another man's patriotism but these trials of US marines in Haditha will continue...

I categorically reject the bombing of Taliban troops by US forces. The military acted without my foreknowledge...

My question is this: for what WILL Obama take responsibility?

They allowed safety pins to be removed early on the Forrestal, not on the cat as specified. The cart sent a power surge which found a path to the Zuni firing circuit. The next problem was the bombs loaded where WWII Comp B, not the newer Octol. They cooked off 5-8 minutes sooner than the Octol would have. That time most likely would have been enough for DC to control the fire.

You had a bad wiring scheme on the F-4 Zuni system which allowed a power surge to get to the firing circuits, premature removal of weapon safety pins, and old ordinance.

I selected the Sunken Road because it was a spot where both sides advanced and "took" it more than once. It was literally paved with corpses from both armies. Like a cord road. There is something poignant about that particular, small area of the larger battlefield that captures the sheer brutality of war, and yet the nobility and sacrifice of men who stay with their duty in the midst of such carnage. I always wonder if I could pass that test.

For a man who holds himself to be above question or reproach, Obama certainly doesn't mind letting his minions sling the foulest kind of mud. This all just textbook Democrat Party politics. Step 1: Have a "supporter" float a negative story about an opponent, even if it's completely untrue. Step 2: Let said story hit the airwaves and percolate for a while. Step 3: Candidate "repudiates" the statement and says this type of mudslinging has no place in politics. Step 4: Negative story is believed by an ADD-addled nation. Candidate's original attachment to said story is conveniently forgotten by a biased press and a semi-literate public.

It's no wonder the Dems are such huge supporters of public schools and teacher's unions. They keep churning out "graduates" with barely enough intelligence to get a driver's license and find their way to the mall, just the kind of voter you want when you have absolutely no good ideas to stand upon.

*Sigh* This is simply BO's attempt to have it both ways. *SHEESH!*

That was my thought.

Clark said it; it's out there; now Obama will publicly disagree with Clark while his supporters wink and nod.

There's a real pattern to this. The only difference is whether it is Obama or a close associate making the first statement. If it's Obama, then someone from his camp denies, qualifies or waffles the next day; if it's an associate, Obama takes the podium the next day to serve up the waffles.

He didn't mean it. *wink, wink* Oh, he was just campaigning. *nod, nod* Sure he meant it, but he has to pacify those bitter, angry white folks. We still talk on the phone every night. *u-huh, u-huh*

He is omnipotent GENERAL Clark. The world is at peace because of GENERAL Clark. All other military people have NOTHING to compare to
his WAR experience.

He's not Lt. Clark, Col. Clark, or Sgt. Clark, but General Clark.

He needs to get off his pedestal.

I don't think it's by design, I think the Comrade Obama campaign is inept, lacks judgement.

I still like 'under the bus', the horror of it all is just too delicious.

359 profitsbeard  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 3:56:11pm

Disgorged like a bad piece of meat?

Clark is wormy at the core.

(But my vote is to keep "Under the Bus!", since it gets more traffic than an average freeway. And could easily become a haunting cliche to dog Barry, like "De Plane, boss, de plane!")

360 bj  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 4:07:08pm

"Throw s/he/it under the bus" is reminiscent of 'throw Mama from the train' and conveys an excellent image. I've even noticed it being used in a couple of newspaper articles. Keep it and throw that whiney Clark under the next Jefferson that comes down I-40.

CNN is out in full force, endorsing Obama's patriotism...including all the fawning, adulatory remarks from the Canadian host (Roberts who's filling in for Blitzer). And Roberts who's an "expert" on patriotism reminds everyone that there's absolutely nothing wrong with not wearing a flag lapel pin (I mean, c'mon, no decent Canadian would ever think of wearing a maple leaf on a lapel), or not saluting a flag or making a few other gaffes here and there could ever be considered unpatriotic...

He stepped over the yellow line so BHO ripped up his pass.

I heard the term on TV last week for the first time in reference to Obama. I would stick with it Charles. I think it might reach a tipping point which will help get the message out.

365 Tigger2005  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 5:07:35pm

Charles, I realize LGF isn't a democracy, but I say, put the phrase to a vote.

I bet the e-mails were from undercover Obama operatives who were getting worried the phrase was becoming associated with Obama in the public mind.

/That's my conspiracy theory & I'm stickin' to it

366 pingjockey  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 5:28:03pm

Obambi, Weasely, and the rest of the pinkos can go and rot in the 9th level of hell.

367 hutchrun  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 5:30:33pm

Does this mean Clark has prostatitis and will in future be next to the fire hydrant.

368 Alberta Oil Peon  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 5:40:07pm

Yeah, I'm happy with the "under the bus" meme, too. Hopefully it will grow to become a big obstacle to Obama's success.

369 Tangonine  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:47:12pm

Dear Obama,

Keep surrounding yourself with the retired generals that were most hated by their troops. It speaks volumes. Go You.

Signed,

Me.

370 LC LaWedgie  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 7:43:08pm

A Democrat spokesman on Hannity & Combs today said his phrasing was "inartful" -- now, where have we heard that before?

The "excuse ala mode" for all braying jackasses involved in the Teflon Troubadour's rush to sainthood?

371 hardright  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 8:07:41pm

Why not flushed. There are those who retire, and there those who are retired.

372 LeePro  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 9:37:17pm

Persobally I still like “thrown under the bus,” but if we must "CHANGE," I would go for THIS.

373 MJBrutus  Tue, Jul 1, 2008 4:02:30am

1. Save the BUS!
2. And he's not the Weasley I knew.

We've got a good meme going here. That's what catch-phrases (such as in advertising) are all about, to make people sick of hearing it, but also making it impossible for them to forget. Remember, "I was for before I was against it?" Sure it got old, but it concisely summed up a basic truth about the character of the idiot it was used against.

Well same here. We have a narrative of a man with deplorable judgment in friends who drops them the moment they become a liability to him. We also have a narrative of a man who pathetically tries to pretend he never knew the basic nature of these friends of his (not the Weasley I knew) in a manner that is just as transparent. These quips have staying power because they get to some basic truths about the Obamessiah that the public needs to be reminded of constantly.

re: #370 LC LaWedgie

So true. The word, "inartful" has become the artful way of denying responsibility for BHO's own stupidity!

re: #361 J.S.

Just who does this rope-smoking, surrender-bot think he is to be lecturing *US* on patriotism?

376 SecondComing  Tue, Jul 1, 2008 8:06:59am

It's getting crowded under the bus, he has to go to the curb.

Fuck 'em, if they can't take a joke.
