They were almost all dressed like strippers, which made her laugh. They explained it was ok to dress like that for their husband.

They told her she should travel to Saudi Arabia and teach because she could make a lot of money. She told them that she was from California, and she would travel to Saudi Arabia when she could drive her own car. They didn't mention it again.

They can wear normal clothes, I think. I was at a party once with Muslim women from the Gulf countries. They all arrived in their abayas, but when they took them off, they were wearing designer dresses and gorgeous custom jewelry. I got the idea that it was a kind of subtle competition between the women; of course the men were having their own party in a different apartment on another floor. Never the twain shall meet, except when one woman got tired of watching her toddler and called upstairs to tell her husband to come and get him. LOL
