Iran's First Lady?

Mon, Jun 30, 2008 at 6:08:12 pm PDT

I don’t know if it’s a real picture, but it’s too funny/sad/pathetic not to post; it’s from hurriyet.com.tr, and it purports to show Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his first lady.

It's a photoshop...Iranian women are much taller than that (and better looking!)

İşte İran'ın first lady'si

25 bcgirl  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:12:59pm

i like first bag, i wonder if she is wifer number 1 or wife number 4 or wife who knows? it IS very creepy, i wonder if Michelle obama would like to model the new michelloO line of americanized burksa for us?

26 Typicalwhitey  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:13:00pm

I would be willing to bet that his wife lives abroad just like Sadaams wife did.
She didn't want to put up with all the crap to live in that kind of a state.

36 blue_like_jazz  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:15:09pm

re: #29 Killgore Trout

i agree.

the lighting on her face doesn't match the "blackness" of her bag.

the angle of their bodies doesn't seem to correlate to two people standing together

she must be like 4'8"

i think it's a fake (IMHO)

I had a friend who married an Iranian. This was a while back, but she said they wore hideously gauche and suggestive trampy stuff at home - mostly in large sizes, as they spent most of their time at home (couldn't go out without a male family member as a sitter) stuffing their faces.

"what are muslim women allowed to wear when in the privacy of their own homes? just curious"

My sister taught a class for a bunch of women from Saudi Arabia. Once the gong sounded that there were no men about they threw off their burkas and started acting like regular people. They were almost all dressed like strippers, which made her laugh. They explained it was ok to dress like that for their husband.

They told her she should travel to Saudi Arabia and teach because she could make a lot of money. She told them that she was from California, and she would travel to Saudi Arabia when she could drive her own car. They didn't mention it again.

68 Killgore Trout  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:22:47pm

re: #36 blue_like_jazz

It's hard to tell. The lighting doesn't show up well on her all black burka. You're right, she'd have to be very short.

69 onepistoffyid  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:23:20pm

Notice Ahmadinjad and all orthodox Muslim males have free choice as to their attire; Orthodox Muslim women do not, they must wear the Hijab. Therefore the message is- Women are possessions, dehumanized, devoid of autonomy and free will, like a goat or a donkey. They must be possessed and controlled.

Why does this not bother the Women of the West? Where is NOW?

70 ratherdashing  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 6:23:24pm

1. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (pronounced mah-MOOD ah-mah-dih-nee-ZHAD) was born Oct. 28, 1956, three years after the CIA-sponsored coup that installed the pro-Western leader Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi as Iran's leader. A Shiite Muslim, he and his wife, a professor, have two sons and a daughter.

US Fifth Fleet Chief: Iran will not be allowed to close Strait of Hormuz

June 30, 2008, 10:06 PM (GMT+02:00)

At a media briefing in Bahrain Monday, June 30, US Vice-Admiral Kevin Cosgriff warned that the United States and its allies would not allow Iran to hamper shipping in the Gulf and close the Strait of Hormuz which carries oil from the world’s largest oil exporting region.

The US fleet commander was responding to a threat Saturday from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards commander, Ali Mohammed Jafari, that Tehran would impose controls on the Gulf and the strategic strait if Iran were attacked.

You got that right, Bush would be blamed for anything Iran does. Its the familiar story, "You are forcing me to kill you" for trivial reasons...This will get lots of airplay in the sympathetic media. Some times just turning Iran into glass seems the easier solution. I can't advocate the destruction of an entire nation with 75 million citizens, most who do not support the ruling party. The whole situation truly sux and I only wish that our diplomats would grow some balls and discuss military action against an Iranian operation in the Straits of Hormez...

I'll update it when I log onto my home comp, which is next to this comp.

They can wear normal clothes, I think. I was at a party once with Muslim women from the Gulf countries. They all arrived in their abayas, but when they took them off, they were wearing designer dresses and gorgeous custom jewelry. I got the idea that it was a kind of subtle competition between the women; of course the men were having their own party in a different apartment on another floor. Never the twain shall meet, except when one woman got tired of watching her toddler and called upstairs to tell her husband to come and get him. LOL

OT DUmmies are convinced Clarke made a great audition for VP. Seriously.

24. Clark, having the skins he has, is one of the few men out there...

...who can criticize McCain for exaggerating his command experience.

Part of a vice presidential candidate's role is to attack, and Clark is giving a hell of an audition because he's going after McCain's (perceived) strength, not pussyfooting around with esoteric policy flaws that don't even register with most voters.

Clark's not calling him a coward, or denigrating his service, just telling the truth about his record.

It's a clean, powerful body blow and the General is the only guy who could throw it and get away with it.

So, Harry Reid says that coal and oil make us sick.

Funny, but oil also makes us well - if you go to a doctor and need medication, it's likely it's in a plastic vial - made from oil. Hospitals rely on all kinds of plastics for everything from pipettes to IV bags. You'd be mighty sick without those. From oil comes all kinds of plastics used in the medical field.

Or maybe Reid is just talking crap because that's all he knows. And he can't be seen supporting nuclear because that would raise questions over his opposition to Yucca Mt.

I'm listening to a replay of Glenn Beck on the insider site, and he's talking to Brad Thor about his new book. They are discussing the newly rediscovered microfilms of the ancient Yemeni Korans. We talked about them in here a few months ago.

I want those microfilms released now!

The Germans are claiming they need a decade or two to study the old versions. Bullshit! They are either scared or protective of Islam.

If the Koran has changed over time, the "perfection" claim disappears overnight. If the Islamic world freaks out -- too bad. If they kill people -- too bad.

I want the truth, and I want it now.

If you want to do more than simply talk and teach about the dangers of Islam, this is great way to get things started. Aim for its heart. Find out who controls the films and start a pressure campaign to get them all released, unedited, now.

That's the point. Prove the book has changed and the dam breaks. Textual criticism isn't the answer, actual changed text and missing chapters is the key to de-sanctifying the book, not deconstructionism.

In honor of Oriana Fallaci and her total disrespect for the burqa/chardor

Fallaci’s interview with Khomeini, which appeared in the Times on October 7, 1979, soon after the Iranian revolution, was the most exhilarating example of her pugilistic approach. Fallaci had travelled to Qum to try to secure an interview with Khomeini, and she waited ten days before he received her. She had followed instructions from the new Islamist regime, and arrived at the Ayatollah’s home barefoot and wrapped in a chador. Almost immediately, she unleashed a barrage of questions about the closing of opposition newspapers, the treatment of Iran’s Kurdish minority, and the summary executions performed by the new regime.

When Khomeini defended these practices, noting that some of the people killed had been brutal servants of the Shah, Fallaci demanded, “Is it right to shoot the poor prostitute or a woman who is unfaithful to her husband, or a man who loves another man?” The Ayatollah answered with a pair of remorseless metaphors. “If your finger suffers from gangrene, what do you do? Do you let the whole hand, and then the body, become filled with gangrene, or do you cut the finger off? What brings corruption to an entire country and its people must be pulled up like the weeds that infest a field of wheat.”

Fallaci continued posing indignant questions about the treatment of women in the new Islamic state. Why, she asked, did Khomeini compel women to “hide themselves, all bundled up,” when they had proved their equal stature by helping to bring about the Islamic revolution? Khomeini replied that the women who “contributed to the revolution were, and are, women with the Islamic dress”; they weren’t women like Fallaci, who “go around all uncovered, dragging behind them a tail of men.”

A few minutes later, Fallaci asked a more insolent question: “How do you swim in a chador?” Khomeini snapped, “Our customs are none of your business. If you do not like Islamic dress you are not obliged to wear it. Because Islamic dress is for good and proper young women.” Fallaci saw an opening, and charged in. “That’s very kind of you, Imam. And since you said so, I’m going to take off this stupid, medieval rag right now.” She yanked off her chador.

In a recent e-mail, Fallaci said of Khomeini, “At that point, it was he who acted offended. He got up like a cat, as agile as a cat, an agility I would never expect in a man as old as he was, and he left me. In fact, I had to wait for twenty-four hours (or forty-eight?) to see him again and conclude the interview.” When Khomeini let her return, his son Ahmed gave Fallaci some advice: his father was still very angry, so she’d better not even mention the word “chador.” Fallaci turned the tape recorder back on and immediately revisited the subject. “First he looked at me in astonishment,” she said. “Total astonishment. Then his lips moved in a shadow of a smile. Then the shadow of a smile became a real smile. And finally it became a laugh. He laughed, yes. And, when the interview was over, Ahmed whispered to me, ‘Believe me, I never saw my father laugh. I think you are the only person in this world who made him laugh.’ ”

Didn't say it shouldn't be done, just said it won't matter. It should be done, and soon. I think this will be of great interest to many in the world. It just won't matter in Islam itself. Now you just have to find someone that the world will listen to. I don't think the press will have much to say on the subject.

Just found this interesting quote, rw, from General Hugh Shelton, who fired Clark-

Shelton created a minor controversy for 2004 Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark, a subordinate to Shelton during the 1999 Kosovo military actions, when he stated: "I will tell you the reason [Clark] came out of Europe early had to do with integrity and character issues, things that are very near and dear to my heart. […] I'll just say Wes won't get my vote," casting doubt upon the presidential contender's legitimacy.

We don't see too many black burkas in Jerusalem, but saw plenty in America. When I'd see one coming down the grocery aisle at me, it would always freak me out. Horrible.

Don't think these are white women.

However in Saudi I saw a British woman in most of a burka. Her husband was some kind of prince. What surprised me was after seeing so many small little arab men, this guy was huge. About 6'5" and looked like you always thought arab men should look judging by the movies of the 40's and 50's. All the others I saw in Saudi and Kuwait were small little guys. Shit. Butte's where UM is, right? I think our land IS outside Billings, in Rosebud county. Never been there, but we've owned 320 acres since the Homestead act in the what? The 1850's? My family settled there way back then, and we've held on to the land, because after 150 years about 200 of us own it, so even if we sold it, we wouldn't get crap for it (split between 200 of us).

re: #540 Maximu§
Weeeelll - it could also be that those white women are recent converts who just discovered how shitty Islam treats women and aren't taking any chances of being gang-raped or the victim of an "honor killing" or don't want anyone to wonder if they've done the FGM part of the conversion. And I'm reasonably certain that they've had explained to them what happens to apostates.
So maybe they really are "covering their asses" just not the way you might expect!

There won't be any 9/11 Memorial or Freedom Tower on the site in NYC destroyed by Islamists by the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

With the delays and the increasing brazenness of Islamist organizations their leftist allies in pursuing their scorched-earth policies, I wouldn't be surprised if a meaningful memorial is ever constructed. It's just matter of time before CAIR gathers up the chutzpah to declare any 9/11 Memorial an exercise in Islamophobia.

Much of the left, including Obama's mentors and friends Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, thought we deserved 9/11. Plus, a lot of people - even some on the right - just don't care anymore. Bush, whatever his faults, gave us reprieve from other 9/11s, and this was done using many of the tools the left wants to take away - surveillance, wiretapping, interrogation, locking up enemy combatants and military action. He got no credit for this, and only history and declassification of government documents will show what horrors were prevented.

What an irony that hard terrorists are on the run, but soft terrorists like CAIR and all the other pro-sharia organizations operating in the West have exploited the situation. I suppose Bush had to go soft on "moderate" jihadis to go after the active ones. Perhaps Iraq was a mistake. But the spirit of going on the offensive was correct, even if it was not consistently applied and often not applied subtly. Our judicial system was no help. Witness the HLF trial. But, all in all, Islamism in its most overt hard terrorism form was kept in check post-9/11 by Bush. The proof is that we didn't get another big terrorist attack in the US. Acts of terrorism continued to increase in the rest of the world, while plot after plot in the US were uncovered and dealt with, and that's just those we heard about (you can bet that that is just the tip of the unclassified or leaked iceberg).

The raving rabid animals are still there, though, waiting for the latch to be left open. Hello, Obama.

580 transient  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 10:05:46pm

Only slightly OT, and I apologize if someone's already posted, I haven't read throught the thread. This is good for a laugh.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the target of an 'X-ray plot' when he attended a UN-sponsored global food summit in Rome earlier this month, Iran's former ambassador to Italy, Abolfazl Zohrevand, claimed Monday.

"A day before Ahmadinejad's arrival in Rome, I checked and found out that the (security) X-ray machines installed gave off too powerful radiation. It measured over 900 instead of 300 as normal," Zohrevand told Iran's IRNA news agency.

"We changed the machine, thinking that it was faulty, but realized the rays were being remotely controlled," he said.

"Bearing in mind that rays of over 1,500 are extremely dangerous to human life, this makes us think there was a plot," Zohrevand continued.

Zohrevand didn't say which units he was using but radiation is usually measured in milligrams [sic]. He also didn't say whether Ahmadinejad was staying was a hotel or an official residence.

This is why science education is important.
Or, just education.
(I include the last paragraph only because radiation is actually measured in millirems.)

581 Mich-again  Mon, Jun 30, 2008 10:06:20pm

The problem with making your wife wear a black sack like that is that its a sure way to give her a vitamin D deficiency from a lack of sunlight. And perhaps that could be offset if she took supplements, but what is the chance that Muslim women in all the Islamic shithole countries have access to that.

And when she is nursing the kids, the kids will not develop as healthy as possible if mom has a vitamin D deficiency.

I wonder if anyone other than a Saudi-funded research group has investigated whether or not Muslim babies whose moms were forced to wear hag bags had developmental problems attributable to vitamin D deficiencies. It would be interesting to see. And more interesting yet to hear the typical apologists rationalize it.

Its abuse plain and simple. And its a smack at Allah for fucking up so bad by making women beautiful.
