Pat Buchanan on Laura Ingraham

Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 6:54:16 pm PDT

This morning, Laura Ingraham respectfully interviewed Pat Buchanan.

She didn’t ask old Pat about his recent appearance on a notorious neo-Nazi radio show that has previously hosted some of the most foul white supremacists in America.

For example, David Duke.

Hey, Laura. What’s up with that?

Pat Buchanan went insane at least a decade ago.

Why does anyone pay any attention at all to this deranged individual? The only thing I can think of is that his insane ideas are usually different from the Liberals' insane ideas...but equally delusional and self-destructive. Liberals like to parade Buchanan as "a conservative" in order to denigrate true conservatives.

Laura has been a HUGE Disappointment.

She also interviews Islamist scum from CAIR and other terror fronts like MSA, or MAS often, and even calls them "my friend" after half-heartedly exposing their BS.

She's sort of getting out of touch

It's about demographics. Fox's core evening audience is >55 years of age, and there aren't many paleo talking heads out there still working that they still recognize. Pukecannon's one of them.

Hannity and Ingraham should consider the fact that they are giving our enemies ammunition by supporting Buchanan. Unlike the left we dont have to all march in lockstep and I know that some people genuinely like the guy. He may be charming as all hell. But very large issues may be at stake, elections and lives. Time for Pat to go.

And if/when Pat is removed from the glare of the camera lights the Left will find someone else to vilify anyone that disagrees with them.

Still doesn't mean he should be given such an easy and unchallenged soapbox to spew his toxic views.

46 saneinmn  Fri, Jul 11, 2008 7:13:50pm

Ingraham has entertained Buchanan many times in the past, so nothing shocking here. And as I stated in a post a few days ago, she (and Hannity) do it more out of "loyalty" than for ratings. Which is a cardinal sin in my book. Greed is one thing...sell your soul, make a buck, don't believe a damn thing you just were nodding your head to a few minutes ago. But these fools actually consider this maggot a legend of the conservative movement. And short of murder, they will continue to bow down before it.

re: #44 nyc redneck

They get that television thing going, and they don't want to lose it.

When I was in radio, we weren't allowed to program our own shows with personal tastes as it might not be the tastes of the audience - no matter how cool I thought the tune might be. It's called negative programming - opening a listener's ears to a different cut by their favorite band.

Pat Buchanan went insane at least a decade ago.

He's always been nutz, but it's sporadic, and it's always been a matter of what you can afford to ignore or forgive. Like many psychos, he's quite charming and intelligent when he's leaning your way. But making Hitler the victim in WWII, is more than one should overlook. I agree with Charles, Hannity and Igraham and Maclaughlin and such are wrong not to ostracize Pat, or get him into rehab, or something. Maybe we can take up a collection, pay for Pat to get a nice little Manson-style swastika on his forehead.

65 Killgore Trout  Fri, Jul 11, 2008 7:22:50pm

re: #61 Cartman

What makes you think that?

I think it's time for conservatives to rethink their core values and decide where they want to go. When they do they'll find themselves in a better position, for now I think it's best to let them rest.

66 lawhawk  Fri, Jul 11, 2008 7:23:43pm

There's a simple reason why Buchanan is on the media all over the place and no one bothers to check him on his loathsome positions or anti Semitism or revisionist history. Buchanan knows how to manipulate the media as well as anyone and he shills for himself better than most.

And the strange thing is that few are even willing to challenge him on his kooky positions from his book. I doubt many have even bothered to read it or the excerpts to know that his position is one that would have essentially given Hitler carte blanche in Europe.

He gets appearances on left wing shows because they can point out that he's a nutty right wing wackjob (but stop short of calling him on his racism because they'd lose out on the pinata). He appears on right wing shows because .... well, I'm still trying to figure that out (perhaps they haven't read his book or don't realize the implications)...

The facts are what they are - Buchanan lies, distorts, and engages in rampant revisionist history and the media outlets are not willing to call him on it.

re: #34 MandyManners

Do they sell out? Are they co-opted?

it is such a good question.
i think success and acclaim can overwhelm people.
and they become uncomfortable w/ their power. and perhaps feel guilty.
and then they begin to think they can dispense some kind of cure/justice w/ their newly anointed status.
it's weird. no one wants to think it can happen to them.
and some do just sell out.

I heard the interview this morning, most of the callers were tougher than Laura. She admitted she hadn't finished the book, but was planning to (why bother?). She asked some tough questions about the book. She didn't talk about any of his other creepy stuff and they agreed that Phil Gramm blew it with the whining comment.

Is there any reason to believe that Laura knew of his nazi radio appearance?
Isn't his most recent book enough?

I think Buchanan's book proves he is a Nazi apologist. After that, we ought not need to know anymore.

Compare and contrast:
NOLA post Katrina
Mississippi coastal towns post Katrina.
You had learned helplessness/victim mentalities running in the first instance, and in the second, people helped each other. Just coincidence, I guess, that LA was running under a Democrat government, and MS under a Republican one.

Now compare Katrina with the recent Midwest floods..... they were devastating as well, admittedly on a smaller scale. But instead of moaning and bitching, the news shots were of people filling sandbags and helping each other. NO one was asking where the government was.

It's shocking to me the extent that people DON'T prepare. It's cheap insurance. It's basically just "store some water and food, have some cash on hand, have some camping stuff ready to go," with a few additions. Even when there's no emergency, I find a lot of my preps immensely helpful for stretching the food budget, etc.

I thought I'd do the repost because I'm thinking about it now--I just got back from a camping trip and need to re-organize my preps. This weekend is a good time: I'm at home this weekend, I want to have my preps in place in case someone does the necessary against Iran soon, and I would not be surprised to see riots if Obama doesn't win in November. All the fun in the world...

You can't use evolution to prove there is no god if you can't prove evolution can increase entropy.

If the evolutionists would keep their religion out of science, I would have no problem keeping mine out.

Evolution as a model is fine. Creationists don't have one that suits the evolutionists needs.

Someone tell me, is that what this debate is all about?

While I considered him a pathetic joke, I knew he was still a potential threat.

I never used the word "offensive".

Here's the thing- the hard core leftists will never be convinced, so kicking them in the head, while enjoyable for some, isn't really doing much more than providing some entertainment value.

The people who are opening to joining our side, on the other hand, could very well be put off by some of her more shocking, attention grabbing statements. I think a VDH, with well reasoned arguments and eloquence, is a far better asset to our side than a shock jockette like Ann.

Laura Ingraham has such an axe to grind with McCain she is willing to swallow Obama whole. She actually gave the jacktard a pass with regards to Jesse Jackson's comments instead of nailing the hypocrite for exactly the same crap that Jackson spews. Barack Hussein was and is part and parcel to the whole black liberation/ blame whitey bullshit issuing from his church AND political party. Instead she went after McCain for the Phil Gramm comments simply because of his stance on immigration. Now she cozys up to Pat Buchanen, the American equivalent of Russia's Zhirinovsky and France's Le Pen. Fox can do far better than Laura Ingraham as a sub for O'Reilly. Deborah Norville anyone?

For Miguel, JWF, & Co.

If then we prefer to meet sorrow with a light heart but without laborious training, and with a courage which is gained by habit and not enforced by law, are we not greatly the better for it?

Since we do not anticipate the pain, although, when the hour comes, we can be as brave as those who never allow themselves to rest; thus our kinsmanship is equally admirable in peace and in struggle.

You forget that Rita hit Louisiana and there was no moaning and groaning. And Rita was bad.

Well now, here is something interesting.
My 15 yr old son came in a while ago and was looking over my shoulder at this thread. (I think he was hoping for more fauxtography stuff since that amused him.)
When I said it was about Pat Buchanan, he said "Oh, that guy. Aaron thinks he sooooo smart."
Aaron is one of my son's music friends who also happens to be (unlike like my son) very interested in politics. Wants to go into it himself. He also happens to be a mini-lefty with a sad case of BDS who thinks Republicans want to strangle puppies for profit.

Bear in mind that Buchanan left the GOP quite some time ago and has had very little good to say about it since the Cold War ended. He has been an adamant opponent of neo-conservative foreign policy and in particular the Iraq War. Younger people may not think of him as a Republican at all. Why should they? They don't know about the Cold War or Nixon years, etc.

I think they sell out. There are far too few people in this world who stand by their convictions. For many- their convictions are easily tossed aside for fame, money or both. No wonder we're in the boat in which we find ourselves.

When they get successful they start reading opinion polls compiled by their employer's marketing departments and before you know it they actually start believing the polls. That's when the long slide downhill begins.

re: #66 lawhawk

That is because many journalists only have a superficial knowledge of history. They would make good English teachers because their punctuation and vocabulary are good, and they are great at creating sensation and drawing attention. Many left wing journalists and some on the right are intellectually shallow and would be better suited at writing movies, works of fiction or advertisements.
It is their ignorance that gives a platform to racists like Buchanan.

Laura should divorce herself from Ted Baxter, she's really to good for that hackster.

As to why all of these media outlets continue to lend themselves to Buchanan and his attempts to remain relevant, that is a headscratcher.

460 pembroke1624  Sat, Jul 12, 2008 8:06:27pm

Buchanan gets a free pass (undeserved) all over the media. The awful Imus fawns all over him regularly, as do Hannity & Colmes, and many others.

He's presented as a "conservative" talking head when in fact he's a million miles removed from any responsible conservative positions. He's also presented (implicitly) as being a Republican when he gleefully abandoned the Republican Party years ago.

It should be remembered that Bill Buckley condemned Buchanan for his anti-Semitism.

Buchanan is bad news and should be avoided.

461 aaron's rantblog  Sat, Jul 12, 2008 11:37:15pm

Laura Ingraham:

Can't Understand Nazi Thinking

It's "Americans" like Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity which reinforce why all of Germany should be held responsible for their political choices in the 1930's. When nationalists give a soapbox to a hater, it's bad news.

Laura, unless you recant on Pat, buh bye and good riddance. May all the promises of Genesis' "those who bless you will be blessed and those who curse you be cursed" be fulfilled in those who give Buchanan a microphine.

When WFB found it impossible to defend Pat from the charge of antisemitism, no Conservative outlet should have given him a voice ever after.

Join me in complaining to the Jewish World Review to remove Ingraham's column until she recants. Get both Pat and Laura removed from TowhHall, as well. If any of us has a connection to any of the TownHall columnists, get a TH insider to muster the courage to do the right thing. At LEAST Buchanan should go!

Who among these TownHall columnists has the cojones to lead the charge to dump Pat?
