CNN now the "Cannibal News Network?"

2 yochanan  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 9:46:32am

this kind of hate is just a weaker version of what the radical left would do if they were in power, i.e. stalin, mao, che et al.

3 seekeroftruth  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 9:46:35am

Shame on CNN for allowing this.

12 Thanos  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 9:49:56am

You do have to respect CNN a bit for hiring him with a hefty sticker knowing that he could have a relapse. At the same time you have to admire Tony as well for making a deal that ensures his family is taken care of.

The left never wastes a second trashing people when they die.

But when the right shows empathy and compassion when a liberal dies or becomes ill (Ted Kennedy comes to mind), we're told by the left we're not being sincere.

These people make me sick.

Yes, but they act all holy. "I mourn for the victims...blah...blah...blah."

It's as if Tony Snow sat in Congress and voted for the war (like some Dems did).

Damn shame that some people have to waste any part of their lives on hatred. I have a relation by marriage with the same condition that killed Tony Snow. Probably the same life expectancy. A good husband and father. In addition to his own chidren, he raised a couple of children by wifes former marriage. Helped pay their way through private school and college. Now most likely won't see his own children graduate high school.

1800's socialists get traded for Marx, Marx for Stalin, Stalin for Ortega, Che, Castro, and now Castro for Chavez.

THat's right they are beyoches. They are allowing a misuse of their site.
I do believe that Blitzer & those guys are sincere. Tony Snow was a colleague, whom I am sure that they liked. This says a lot about CNN management & the loons that their site attracts.

I'd also venture a guess that many of these posters are leftists from other countries, and islamobots pretending to be leftists. After all, CNN prides itself on its international viewership.

Bertha weakens to tropical storm in Atlantic

Associated Press - July 13, 2008 11:03 AM ET

MIAMI (AP) - Forecasters say Bertha has weakened to a tropical storm from a hurricane.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm was moving slowly in the Atlantic early Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds were near 65 miles per hour with higher gusts. Large swells and high surf are affecting Bermuda.

Forecasters said the center of the storm was about 180 miles southeast of Bermuda.

The storm is expected to begin drifting to the northwest later Sunday and continuing into Monday.

That track could bring the center of the storm not far to the southeast and east of Bermuda during the next couple of days.

But the motion could be erratic and the center could move closer to Bermuda.

My husband, without missing a beat, said "He dad, we have an anti-Semite running for president". It was so great. I gave him a high five. Read the history of the left. It isn't irony, it's hereditary. They have always been like this. Anger is all they have. They try to wrap themselves in compassion, but in reality their "compassion" is just hatred of things the way they are.

A perfect description of the Obamas.

179 Desert Dog  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 10:48:12am

A big part of this "polarization" that has taken place is the left's intolerance. If we disagree with them and offer a compromise, we are called Nazis and reactionary. If we bend to their will, it suddenly becomes a "wonderful bi-partisan affair". It's a one way street...all take and no give on their part.

Oh well, that does not matter now because President Obama will bring us all together! Hallelujah! The Great United! --- NOT

Blame the Internet. The anonymity allows people to vent their deepest and ugliest feelings, without threat of retaliation. I guess I'm rather old-fashioned, in that even though nobody here (with the exception, ironically enough, of our friend Zombie) knows my real name, I try to act like a gentleman both on LGF and online in general.

I was struck by the passionate intensity of the commenters we are talking about, and then I recalled that that phrase came from somewhere in my memory. Ah, yes, Yeats:

TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

One of the best, with shining conviction, has left us. I look around at the Republican party and wonder who he could be talking about.

And the worst are filled with passionate intensity.

The movement (especially the US variety) has been characterized by being for the worker, but not by the worker. It has always been the elites dictating to those who don't know better (in their opinion). The primary view in those circles is that any worker who isn't a communist is a danger.

Dancing on the graves of the recently deceased is deeply immature and makes the moderate members of DU look bad. There is nothing impressive about crowing over someone's death by illness; all it shows is how intimidated you were by the person to begin with.

My father in law is a leftist. Hardcore leftist. He even admits to liking a communist society, claiming "everyone is taken care of". My husband constantly calls him out with facts on issues and he gets so pissed he gets louder and louder and his face turns red. He thought he would be smart the other day and bring up some "fact" he no doubt heard on NPR that a famous Republican was an anti-Semite. My husband, without missing a beat, said "He dad, we have an anti-Semite running for president". It was so great. I gave him a high five. We will occasionally listen to Boortz or Levin with him around and he will agree with them until he learns they are conservatives. He is so stubborn he won't even agree with the people he agrees with! And unbelievably, he was a US Marine.

bellamags, does he live in Frisco, CO? Sounds exactly like a guy that posts stalinist crap in our local fishwrapper who calls himself "proud.liberal.ex.marine"

I gotta say, when Jimmy Carter finally shuffles off, I will remain pointedly silent.

If there's a Republican in the White House at the time, I feel for him, having to try to come up with good things to say about the man..."Well, um, there was that building houses for poor folks thing...and...uh...didn't he invent 100 uses for the peanut? No? Oh yes, that was Carver, my mistake...um...and he was a walking ad for dental hygiene, wasn't he? Well, my helicopter's waiting, gotta go!"

The moon bat in particular drains the blood and intelligence from every victim rendering the prey unintelligent, cold and pale. Moon bats usually go for the toes of their sleeping victims, slowly injecting anesthetic to numb the puncture before the draining begins. The victim can awake without knowing anything has happened. They just get more stupid as each day passes and as they look in the mirror each morning, they begin to notice another symptom, moonbat ugliness transformation. They therefore seek out other unintelligent, ugly victims for solice. Hence the herds of moonbats.

BTW - there is movement in the democratic nest next door.

How can anyone "hate" Tony Snow? I mean, seriously.

Disagree with him, fine. But I've never heard a man so universally respected, admired and, well, liked or loved by just about everyone who came into contact with him.

It boggles the mind.

310 joan  Sun, Jul 13, 2008 12:53:40pm

Those links are to any person who might wish to post, not CNN people. Unfortunately, the Maoist training our populace received during the sixties and seventies in political hatred and reprisal was perpetuated in the culture and institutions. Nixon was the first but not the last target of agitprop. Even when he died, many people wanted him disemboweled, shot and hanged from a gibbet as a warning to others. We've allowed our enemies access to the hearts and minds of children for 40 years at least, and the Red Guard lives on in us.

Many respectful and decent responses from CNN people here, certainly nothing like the despicable NYT and AP sneers

Cattt,

That is the strange thing about the moon bats, they are in complete denial about the hatred in their hearts. Their cognitive dissonance
that they are the "compassionate" Americans, and the reality of what flows from their mouths and their pens is mind-boggling. As much as I may not like a politician or someone's stance on an issue, I mostly feel sorry for them, they however "hate" me.

Excellent point and I hope my children are never filled with the type of venom they carry around with them.
