Absolutely disgusting. Why Israel hasn't completely wiped groups like Hezbollah off the map by now when they have the capability to do so astounds me.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are handing out sweets to celebrate the handover of two coffins believed to contain the bodies of Israeli soldiers.

Would there be a problem with Israeli/Mossad handing out poison candy to the Palestinians?

re: #2 zulubaby

I was just reading that story about the Gazans celebrating when they saw the coffins of the dead Israelis. The Headline on Jpost in big bold font is "Hizbullah transfers two coffins." Even though we all knew they were probably killed in the attack, but my heart just sank when I read it.

I have never seen 2 societies right next to each other that are so polarized on the fundamentals of human life. Virtually every Israeli feels pain and sadness of the death of innocent people, and on the other side of the border they celebrate when innocents are killed and even when their own are "martyred." Disgusting.

But that might be seen as benefitting the republicans in some way shape or form. Why on earth should they help their constituents when they can drag their feet, blame it on the GOP/Bush admin. and hope that their vapid, inexperienced Windy City hack gets voted in come November.....?

11 Neo Con since 9-11  Wed, Jul 16, 2008 1:12:49am

Excellent Front Page interview with Abul Kasem.
Demise of Islam
FP: Absolutely, and it is totally unrealistic to think that Islam will ever disappear.
Kasem: No. Despite the world situation that I just painted, what you say is not true at all.
We learn from the annals of Islamic history that Islam is not that powerful and that it is actually very vulnerable. Much evidence suggests that it may very well die under its own weight.
There is a secret life of Islam and it may very well lead to the death of Islam. The history of Islam, for instance, tells us that Islam needs blood to thrive. Human blood is the life-line of Islam, violence its hallmark, and hate its foundation. In the beginning, Islam lives on the blood of infidels. When that is unavailable, or becomes difficult, Islam must cannibalize itself. As a car needs gasoline to run, so does Islam need human blood just to run its own course, set by Muhammad, its Prophet.
FP: Sounds very much like communism. It starts off extinguishing the “class enemy” and then when there are no more external “enemies” to slaughter, the killing machine turns on itself. Terror takes on a life of its own and the killing machine devours its own children and then ultimately engages in suicide. This totalitarian impulse ultimately stems from a death wish.
Kasem: Precisely. And so the demise of Islam is inherent in the very seed of Islamic cannibalism. And so to understand why Islam, eventually, will self-destruct we must first learn a few lessons from the annals of Islamic history. Let me briefly paint the picture:
During the last few decades we have witnessed Islamic cannibalism right, front and center. The most recent event was the Iran-Iraq war, in which millions of Muslims were killed, not by the infidels (kafirs) but by Muslims. Undoubtedly, in not-too-distant a future, we are bound to witness many such events of Islamic cannibalism.
FP: Is Islamic cannibalism theologically rooted?
Kasem: Absolutely. The earliest example of Islamic cannibalism, after all, is found in the Qur’an itself -- in verses 9:108-110. These verses refer to the gutting of a rival mosque on the instruction of Muhammad, when he was returning after his expedition to Tabuk, a resourceful town in the Syrian-Byzantine territory. This Islamic incursion story goes like this:

Proceeding further from Tabuk on his way to Medina, Muhammad halted at Dhu Awan at Quba (about 4 kms. from Medina), an hour’s journey from Medina. There, an opposition Muslim group had built a mosque. Previously, while Muhammad was making preparations for the march to Tabuk, this group of Muslims approached him and said, “O Messenger of God, we have built a mosque for the sick and needy and for rainy and cold nights, and we would like you to visit us and pray for us”(The History of al Tabari, vol.ix, p.61). Busy with his preparations for Tabuk expedition, Muhammad excused himself from visiting this newly-built mosque, but assured the dissident group that he would call on their mosque while returning to Medina (from Tabuk).

On his return journey from Tabuk and halting at Dhu Awan, Muhammad accused builders of this mosque of being unjust. Without any warning, he sent a band of jihadists to burn and destroy the freshly constructed mosque. He said to his band of hooligans, “Go to this mosque whose owners are unjust people and destroy and burn it” (ibid, p.61). His band of raging arsonists stealthily entered the bustling mosque and set fire to it when it was filled with people assembled for the evening prayer. The worshippers dispersed in utter terror. Allah promptly sent down verse 9:107, 110, justifying the destruction of opposition mosques. To further validate his gutting of this mosque, Muhammad concocted the story that he suspected that the builders of the ‘Mosque of Dissent’ were planning to assassinate him.
Very Detailed and informative interview read the whole thing

No.
Your impression was accurate up until a big labor-law revision last year. Work permits now pretty rational.

And there's a city of 100,000 non-Thais living here in the Big Mango... 100,000 is a pretty good-sized city in and of itself, so there ARE JOBS and opportunities for the competent and capable, Token!

That site is very interesting. It is a civilized suport group for Clinton. They've been phone banking Democrat super delegates to get them to change over to Clinton. One of them pointed out that the best reason for Obama's acceptance speech at the football field is so that they can pack the stadium with non delegate droids to skew the coverage and make it look like Obama is the one and only. Also going on about how Obama is placing his people in all the state and county offices of the DNC to ensure his election and the heck with anybody else.

121 little blessing  Wed, Jul 16, 2008 2:39:30am

Hi Everyone!

I just logged on so I don't know if it was reported here yet but Israel has received 2 coffins from Hezbollah.

122 shiplord kirel  Wed, Jul 16, 2008 2:39:44am

Genghis Khan knew how to deal with arrogant Muslims. The fact is Hezbollah could not get away with its depraved atrocities if not for the unstinting support of a large segment of the global media. In some cases, this is indirect, through the usual devices of propaganda and advertising such as selective emphasis, invited inference, and false equivalence. Others, especially in the UK, are quite open in the love for the demonic cult, praising Hezbollah to the rafters and revelling in its license to commit atrocity after atrocity.

This must end.

The Israeli government, and Israel's supporters throughout the world, must understand that there is no point in trying to appease the establishment media. The media are not with the enemy, they ARE the enemy.

I propose the following:
All pro-Hezbollah media to be expelled from Israel at once, the determination of pro-Hezbollah status to be made by a special commission of experts in rhetoric, forensics, and communications theory.
Any assets of pro-Hezbollah media or their principals within Israeli reach to be confiscated and the proceeds distributed to the families of Hezbollah's victims.
Open Hezbollah propagandists such as Fisk, Pilger and Raven to be arrested if possible and tried under the Julius Streicher precedent.

All Hezbollah and Palestinian prisoners convicted of murder to be executed immediately, and their remains repatriated in the same condition as the those of Israelis murdered by Hezbollah.

Why didn't they kill Kuntar after they got the coffins... Why?

132 shiplord kirel  Wed, Jul 16, 2008 3:07:02am

Concurrent with the attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, Israel should launch a lightning offensive into Lebanon with the objective of isolating the Hezbollah forces, which will then be destroyed piecemeal.

There should be no quarter shown and the offensive should continue at any cost and by any means necessary until literally not one Hezbollah member is left alive anywhere in the world. Hezbollah's own media agents in particular should be treated as instigators of terrorism and genocide and dealt with accordingly.

So called international opinion is manipulated by the enemy media, and should be given no more consideration than Churchill did to the ravings of Goebbels and Streicher. At the same time, Hezbollah and its supporters have manifestly, even gleefully, placed themselves beyond the domain of any civilized law or code of conduct and are not entitled to their protections.

ABC News Caught In More Lies!
Just in case you happened to see the ABC News (if you watched ABC News) with interviews of 5 military folks in Iraq - 3 planned to vote for Obama and 2 for Hillary; no mention of any McCain supporters. Well, here's the "Rest of the Story."
************************************************** *
This is from Major General (ret) Buckman, a close friend of ours. **************************************************
My niece, Katelyn, stationed at Baluud , Iraq , was assigned with others of her unit, to be escorted/guarded/ watched out for Martha Raddatz, of ABC News, as she covered John McCain's recent trip to Iraq . Katelyn and her Captain stood directly behind Raddatz as she queried GI's walking past. They kept count of the GI's and you should remember these numbers.
She asked 60 GI's who they planned to vote for, in November, '08.

54 soldier's said John McCain,
4 for Obama and
2 for Hillary.

Katelyn called home and told her Mom and Dad to watch ABC news the next night because she was standing directly behind Raddatz and maybe they'd see her on TV. Mom and Dad of course, called and emailed all the kinfolk to watch the newscast and maybe see Katelyn. Well, of course, we all watched and what we saw wasn't a glimpse of Katelyn, but got a hell'ava view of skewed news.
After a dissertation on McCain's trip and speech, ABC showed 5 GI's
being asked by Raddatz how they were going to vote in November;
3 for Obama and
2 for Clinton .
No mention of the 54 for McCain.

Today I will open my business and pray for customers to come in. Over the last 8 weeks our sales have dropped by 30%! We hear, repeatedly, people bemoaning the economy and the last two days, comments about whether the banks will be around much longer.
Yesterday, a friend who owns another business called and said she is hanging on by her fingernails. It is a 10 year business that serves commercial accounts. I've decided it's the media that is driving this all down, down, down. I watched the local morning news this morning, then the National ABC news. Every other comment seemed connected to the dismal economy and how people can't afford basics anymore. It was so depressing I felt as though we are all doomed.
The sad reality of the matter is that in our community:
*Unemployment is 2.3%
*The average sale time of a house in the $150K-$200K price range=60 days
*The average median household income is $64,321
*We have experienced no large corporate lay-offs or closings in the last 12 months
People are being fed doom and gloom by the media and small business is taking the brunt of it. God help us.
If her business goes under there are 14 people out of work, if mine goes under there will be 5 people out of work and if my next door neighbor, a bistro, goes out there will be 39 people out of work.
Yet these customers will drive to the farmers market on Saturday and buy fresh, local produce that costs 30% more than at the grocery store while sipping on their 12oz $1.39 bottle of water and then cry about how they have to fill their Escalade with a $100 dollar bill.
Thanks for the rant time, I need to go to work now.

I awoke today with a very heavy heart. I don't often feel this way, especially since the birth of my first son 4 months ago, but the news that Regev and Goldwasser were returned in Coffins, murdered at the hands of Hezbollah animals in exchange for one of the most vile terrorists to ever live turned my stomach in a way I have not felt since the lost of my lovely Gila at the hands of a suicide bomber in 2002. I am angry, I want revenge. Why did we not kill Kuntar the moment we were aware of the soldiers fate. Why are we not raining bombs down on the celebrations in Lebanon, Gaza, and Judea and Sumeria? Why because Israel always has and always will take the higher ethical ground than these insane murderous beasts. We will never become them, but just as Nazi Germany had to be eradicated at any cost, it is time for the Israeli Govt to end this nonsense of trading an inch of anything for peace. They want peace, they can have it, the same way the barbarous Japanese and German Regimes received theirs. The time to act is now. It is time to strike a blow so intense that there is no longer anything but capitulation. How much longer must Israel be forced to endure this charade. It gets worse by the day.

Today is a very sad day. War is near, this time victory must be absolute. Yes I mean absolute to the point of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

As my dad fought in Okinawa, no soldier thought they would come home alive from an invasion of mainland Japan. Yet they all fought, and watched as their brothers in arms died taking tiny portions of a little Island. Interesting how the bomb changed everything.

Everything needs to be changed now, before it's to late.

I certainly hope so. I hope that what is going on is that the U.S. and Pakistani governments are playing good cop and bad cop so that the Pakistani people will rally behind the Musharraf government while the U.S goes in there and gets business done. That sounds like a promising end-of-term maneuver for the Bush Administration. If Musharraf stays in power, things are better than if not, and if not, then we certainly weren't going to get permission to go in anyway.
This way, we get to go in while simultaneously bolstering the increasingly shaky Musharraf government.
Fingers crossed.

I agree.

As an Economist, I have been professionally tracking and analyzing the economy for close to 30 years now, during which we have experienced one of the largest sustained economic growth periods in history.

Never once during all that time can I recall the MSM doing a story that things were going pretty good.

I paid approximately $9 a gallon for gasoline in Ireland in June, yet all you hear in the US media is about how crippeling $4 a gallon is here.

Are things a bit shaky in the economy right now? Yes. But this is hardly October of 1929 again. There is a lot of panic pedaling going on in the media.

I do think that a lot of it is left wing bias in the media with an election coming up. If Obama wins the election in November, suddenly you will see stories about how the air is suddenly fresher, the economy is suddenly a lot better, we won the war, etc.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. A bittersweet day for the Goldwasser and Regev families, as their loved ones are returned home - in coffins.

Hizbullah celebrates and treats the release of Kuntar the terrorist as a national hero. Abbas congratulates Kuntar, and the Palestinians pass out sweets for the release of the child murdering terrorist.

Meanwhile, we are swiftly approaching the Rubicon in Pakistan as reports indicate that NATO and Afghan forces are preparing to go after Taliban and al Qaeda inside Pakistan. That follows attacks where Pakistani forces were captured on video engaging in attacks alongside Taliban and al Qaeda elements on Afghan and ISAF forces inside Afghanistan.

Speaking of the market:

U.S. stock futures lower before wave of data

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures edged lower on Wednesday, with Intel's bullish outlook not enough to spur a rally ahead of a wave of economic data, more earnings reports and continued doubts over financial-sector health.
S&P 500 futures fell 6 points to 1,205.50 and Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 5.75 points to 1,793.25. Dow industrial futures fell 35 points.
U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Tuesday, with unease about the government's ability to prop up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's pessimistic testimony in the Senate offsetting a $6 drop in crude-oil futures.

The S&P 500 has dropped about 11% since April 1st. I really don't know where the comment about "unease about the government's ability to prop up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" is coming from, cause they still have trillions of dollars of good loans in Fannine Mae and Freddy Mac and the volume of defaulted mortgages that has been reported is about 2 tenths of 1%.

The whole key to me is the price of oil. If you get some stabilization in the price of oil, perhaps even a bit of a drop, things should settle down.

I certainly think that they should. I can't justify it on fundamentals, but strategically, I think it's the right move. The market has already been slapped with the consequences of its own fecklessness, but it is important that the government remains "too big to fail". Lawmakers are mulling a U.S. plan to prop up the companies, which have faced questions about their capital, and whose stocks have been punished over the past several days. What are the arugula jokes about obama and is it true that the demo convention has barred fried food and/or will only allow "healthy" food? What is that about? Because i think I could make big money with a hot dog stand outside the convention and recoup my stock market losses. I am sorry if I should know this but I watch very little TV and have tried to avoid reading anything superfluous about the election(95% of the news)

(Both concerning the composition of the lunar material at depths greater than we've previously been able to sample, as well as testing new weapons designs.)

We'd have effectively withdrawn from the Outer Space Treaty and the Partial Test Ban Treaty to do it though...

Would it be silly of me to think the images of people waiting in line to liquidate their cash from the bank smells like the Obama fainting spells?

Not having the background you do, I can remember a time when we measured poverty via material goods in the population.

Well, there certainly are some problems with the macro economy at the moment, all of which are fairly easy to spot and correct, though not over night. There is no "magic wand" solution to this. But the corrections are prospective and not retrospective.

I think Greenspan went to sleep onthe job his last year or so, and Bernanke was a bit naive when he took over. The discount rate got raised too far too fast and caused severe problems with variable rate debt.

You also had changes in the banking industry that resulted in just about anyone getting a loan of some sort if they wanted it due to PC and anti-discrimination rulings. So folks got "leveraged" way beyond their means in some cases. For example , my first car (a 1967 Dodge Dart) cost me $20 and had no door handle on the passenger side. Nowadays, everyone wants a new car and wants a loan to get it.

You additionally had the price of energy skyrocket for various reasons, including a brain dead Washington DC over the last 25 years or so.

You have most of Europe with elevated interest rates and ours much lower, so you have the dollar devaluing relative to the euro, the pound and other currencies.

Put all that together, you have a bit of a mess, but is is all very fixable, just not over night.

But what about the emissions from the boiler? From the NYT today:

He’s [obama] already in danger of seeming too prissy about food — a perception heightened when The Wall Street Journal reported that the planners for Obama’s convention have hired the first-ever Director of Greening, the environmental activist Andrea Robinson. She in turn hired an Official Carbon Adviser to “measure the greenhouse-gas emissions of every placard, every plane trip, every appetizer prepared and every coffee cup tossed.”

re: #199 Capitalistincharge

Thanks for the rant time, I need to go to work now.

i know how you feel,
last wk i had one of the worst wks i've ever had in 24 yrs. of business. it is so disheartening. i can't even talk abt. it. i will keep going tho, until it gets better or worse. and i am contemplating plan 'b'.
i hate this feeling. and all the bad news on top of it.
i do agree w/ you, the msm is creating trouble. causing people to worry excessively.

Hey, lizard community....do the small guy a favor. Spend your money with the independent, small business today. If everyone decided to patronize that independent coffee shop instead of the Starbuck's, you would help the economy, keep a couple folks employed, keep your local economy strong and probably save yourself a buck or two. Need something from the Hardware store? Shop local and you will get better customer service too. Going out for dinner? Skip the chain and eat better food while helping everyone from the Chef to the waitress pay their mortgage this month. Big business sends those dollars to the home office...Small business reinvests your money in your local economy. Just my pitch for us small guys. Now I really have to get going to put in my 12 hour day and try like hell to keep the hometown strong.

Iraq took control of security in the Shiite province of Diwaniyah on Wednesday and said it hoped to regain control of the entire country from US-led forces by end of the year.

Israel is a small country and does not have a real large population and military losses are keenly felt because many of the citizens are family related to each other. The families want to get the bodies back, and the population is sympathetic. But to give back 3 or 400 convicted murdering terrorists, knowing that they will attempt to kill again borders upon lunacy.

This is a disgrace.

There is no principle in Judaism that says you have to trade a whole bunch of living terrorists for dead bodies.

On the contrary, when Rabbi Meir of Rothenburg was imprisoned for ransom by some medieval prince, he told the community NOT TO PAY. He passed away in captivity and it was many years later that his bones were returned, but not for huge ransom.

The Talmud also warns against paying exorbitant ransoms because this just encourages the bandits to kidnap more victims.

Here's some antidote, via the National Post:

A retired U.S. soldier who was ambushed by armed fighters holed up in the mud compound where Omar Khadr was captured said on Tuesday the Canadian deserves to be at Guantanamo Bay.

Sergeant Layne Morris said he had not seen the dramatic interrogation video released by Mr. Khadr's lawyers, in which the young detainee cries for help, but he brushed off the footage as a public relations exercise.

Sgt. Morris said the defence lawyers' strategy seemed to be to win sympathy for their client, and that he found it "troublesome" the public had to be constantly reminded of what Mr. Khadr is alleged to have done six years ago.

"My lasting image of Omar is of him crouched in the rubble waiting for U.S. troops to get close enough so he could take one of them out, and he did that successfully and that is the underlying reason why we're all here in the first place," Sgt. Morris said.

Khadr's mother, Maha Elsamnah, emotional after watching her son's interrogation, expressed a deep sense of loss for her family and uncertainty over what she should do.

Her husband, Ahmed Said Khadr, was an avowed al-Qaeda sympathizer before he was killed in fighting with Pakistani military forces in 2003. Elsamnah refused to say more without speaking to her lawyer.

But retired soldier Sgt. Layne Morris, who was in the firefight in which U.S. medic Sgt. First Class Christopher J. Speer was killed by a grenade, allegedly by Khadr, said he has no sympathy for the Guantanamo detainee.

"Whoever has sympathy for a young snivelling, whining, crying Omar is misplaced sympathy because this is not a man who deserves any sympathy," he told CBCNews.ca.

"I use all my sympathy for Chris Speer's widow and two children. I have none left for Omar Khadr."

I remember years ago a scandal that involved a local TV station using videos of snake handlers as standard "file footage" for stories about Evangelicals in rural areas. Same sort of thing, but even more effective because Phelps will play to the camera.

Do not be mistaken; the media LOVES him. He's good theater and, as you pointed out, the media needs ugly Christians to justify attacking the War on Islamist Terror (just to add some truth in labeling).

They shout "Baptist" as loudly as they shouted "Mormon" during the Texas clusterf&ck, too.

No Baptist organization I am aware of would have him, any more than the LDS church claims the Texas group.

We could really offend him by praying that God will open his heart to the message of Jesus Christ. In fact, I have suggested to the Freedom Riders that they do just that. Pray at him.

488 nikis-knight  Wed, Jul 16, 2008 8:04:45am

Morning Lizards.
So... Obama said, at one point, he would debate John McCain anytime, anywhere. McCain wants ten "town-hall style" debates. I have some suggestions for the places they should meet.

First two let's focus on character.
Debate 1-Chicago, where Obama can finally tell us just what a community organizer does and how it improved Chicago. Specifics would be appreciated. We'll be generous and give Obama the first on his home turf.
Debate 2-Vietnam. McCain can tell use what he did in his youth, and we can compare the two.

Next, they can discuss Iraq.
Debate 3-Fallujah. Doesn't matter what they said, have them both leave what was once the most dangerous place on earth, really, will put the lie to the Democrats talking points and make Obama's plan for immediate withdrawal look absurd. Questions can come from Iraqis, who don't get a say in the election, of course, but whose lives may depend on it.

Then how about Energy policy?
Debate 4-ANWAR. They can look at the wasteland and both tell us it is more important to keep the Caribou cold than increase oil supply to Americans. They may have to speak up to be heard over all the nothing, though.

Then let's have another on economics.
Debate 5-Paris. Not the monuments, but the suburbs, and they can debate unemployment and Obama's socialist policies.

Let's return to national security.
Debate 6-Outside the home of the the Al Queda Imam in Britain. They can discuss how multiculturalism and international justice can keep Americans safer.

More economics,
Debate 7-Canada. In a hospital, they can discuss the single payer system works better. They can hear from people proud of not having a barbaric free market American system, and from people hoping to make it through the queue before they die.

Gun Control
Debate 8-Washington DC, but away from the capital and monuments. They can discuss whether they are glad the secret service is armed, and then how people without 24-7 protection feel about gun control.

Middle East & Terrorism
Debate 9-Gaza. They can ask, through interpreters, if people are proud of their suicide/murder bombers, if they support rocket strikes into Israel. Then they can discuss if Israel's security measures are appropriate or not.

Abortion
Debate 10-Any American hospital nursery. They can discuss if Obama still opposes the born-alive infants act. Maybe for bonus points one of the doctors will have questions about tort reform as well.

John McCain on Afghanistan

John McCain laid out his strategic thinking in the War on Terror in an integrated way, examining in particular the link between the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. In describing the situation McCain extends the logic of the Iraq counterinsurgency effort and employs the framework of the “lessons learned” to the global campaign against Islamic extremism. One of the lessons of the Surge has been the need to create lasting security in one place before haring off in pursuit of mobile enemy forces. This was sometimes referred to in the media as the “ink spot” theory of counterinsurgency. McCain, in addressing overall strategy, warns that Obama’s plan to evacuate in Iraq in order to “get” Osama Bin Laden is precisely a repetition of the cardinal mistake of leaving an operation half-finished in order to begin a new one.

McCain proceeds to demonstrate a grasp of the Surge which has eluded much of the MSM: that it’s key principle came from mobilizing the population against terrorists. Getting Iraqis to fight terrorists informed every aspect of Petraeus’ strategy from the redeployment of US forces to smaller outposts, the change in emphasis from pure Force Protection to the protection of the population, and even the generation of tribal and regular forces to augment US forces. McCain proceeds to show how he will apply the same principles globally. In the following paragraph McCain describes why US troop numbers alone were not enough in Iraq; nor will they be in Afghanistan and in the process attempts to show how Obama’s ideas are not only inadequate for Iraq but also come up short in Southwest Asia.

From a political point of view McCain’s speech is an attempt to claim all the right strategic ideas publicly before Obama can retrospectively ascribe them to his own genius. It is an act of seizing the intellectual high ground so that Obama is either forced to occupy some other ground or reluctantly join McCain on turf he has already staked out.

Excellent analysis of McCain's speech.

Our criminal justice system is quite good for what it does, but law enforcement model of defending against terrorism has an Achilles Heel.

It works best after the terrorists have struck. It gets quite problematic when you start busting terrorists before they strike, and doesn't come into play when disrupting terrorists overseas. It's on those latter steps that taking the fight to the terrorists requires more than just law enforcement. It requires military force.

I don't say I agree with that approach in dealing with terrorists. The problem (simplistically) is that I think that Bush too made a mistake in trying to fit these animals into some kind of legal framework (enemy combatants, prisoners of war, etc.) I think it was probably rushed, or little thought was given to the problem of what to do with these people. Ok, damage done - fast forward to today. Our courts have ruled now that they have certain "rights." Maybe those will change as the cases sort themselves out in the tribunals, courts of appeal etc., but regardless, we need to follow the rule of law - whatever it may be. Right now, the fucker is entitled to a court appointed attorney.

Obama releases list of approved jokes about himself

By Andy Borowitz

Bid to help late night comics

[Link: www.JewishWorldReview.com...] | Saying he is "sympathetic to late night comedians' struggle to find jokes to make about me," Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill) today issued a list of official campaign-approved Barack Obama jokes.

The five jokes, which Sen. Obama said he is making available to all comedians free of charge, are as follows:

Barack Obama and a kangaroo pull up to a gas station. The gas station attendant takes one look at the kangaroo and says, "You know, we don't get many kangaroos here." Barack Obama replies, "At these prices, I'm not surprised. That's why we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil."

A traveling salesman knocks on the door of a farmhouse, and much to his surprise, Barack Obama answers the door. The salesman says, "I was expecting the farmer's daughter." Barack Obama replies, "She's not here. The farm was foreclosed on because of subprime loans that are making a mockery of the American Dream."

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, "Why the long face?" Barack Obama replies, "His jockey just lost his health insurance, which should be the right of all Americans."

Q: What's black and white and red all over? Barack Obama: The New Yorker magazine, which should be embarrassed after publishing such a tasteless and offensive cover, which I reject and denounce.

A Christian, a Jew and Barack Obama are in a rowboat in the middle of the ocean. Barack Obama says, "This joke isn't going to work because there's no Muslim in this boat."

Okay, the French have way better passenger trains than we do, but we're ahead of them on heating and air conditioning, that's for sure.

I'm overdue to get back to Paris, thanks for the eats recommendation... although I'd sure like a stronger dollar before making that next trip. As a fair exchange, here's my hotel recommendation. Israeli Moshe Sasson, a survivor of Lebanese militant Samir Kantar's attack in 1979, speaks to the Associated Press in the coastal city of Nahariya, Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Sasson felt the gun pressed against his head, a Lebanese assailant poised to shoot, when the lights in the hall of his apartment building suddenly went out, allowing him to flee to safety. The gunman, Samir Kuntar, went on to kill three other people in one of Israel's most notorious attacks. Three decades later, he is about to be freed in exchange for two Israeli soldiers whose capture set off a monthlong Mideast war. The Israelis are presumed dead. But Kantar, whose deadly rampage traumatizes Sasson to this day, is expected to return home to a hero's welcome. 'I remember his face, the dark black eyes and murderous gaze,' Sasson recalls. 'He was like the angel of death.' (AP Photo/Ariel Schalit)

Yea, the president of Lebanon will honor the child crusher, and he might run for parliament.
He and anyone who honors him should have their own heads crushed, slowly. After they watch the same thing done to their families. If they think it is honorable, then it is honorable for it to be done to them by their enemies.
But probably the most likely thing that will happen is an Iranian nuke will go off course and hit the Lebanese parliament.

Zulu,
PNW has a letter from Kuntar in which he promises to kill more Jews after he gets out:

The Kuntar letter:

After the killing of international terrorist Imad Mughniyeh in Syria three months ago, Kuntar wrote a letter to Nasrallah in which he glorified terrorists and martyrdom, and vowed to continue in the path of terror "until complete victory."

The following is the text of the Kuntar letter:

"My dear and honored commander and leader, The Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah,

Peace be unto you and our Shahids, and may Allah's mercy and blessing be upon you.

Peace be unto the men in the convoys of the righteous.

Peace be unto he who has [given and has] not taken anything other than the Shahadah (Martyrdom), the highest rank of honor before Allah.

Peace be unto the distinguished, glamorous convoys [of Shahids] who travel toward eternity, toward the men of glory, dignity and pride, toward those who have marked our path for hundreds of years.

Peace be unto the last to leave, the Hajj and leader, Imad Mughniyeh.

Peace be unto him, as he passes the message on to those who await his arrival, as he brings them stories of the glory and victories, news of steadfastness and loyalty of the men of the fulfilled promise [a reference to the operation in which the two Israeli soldiers were kidnapped which was called the 'Fulfilling the Promise',] news of "those who still wait [for Shahadah]; but they have never changed (their determination for Shahada)." [Quote from Quran, Sura 33:23.]

Peace be unto him, as he announces to the most honored among the Believers [previous Shahids] that the waiting convoys have chosen [they await the Shahadah] to draw their swords, and their swords are calling out: "We are far from degradation" [a Nasrallah's phrase].

May peace be unto you, Hajj Imad. My oath and pledge is that my place will be at the battlefront, which is soaked in the sweat of your giving, and the blood of the most beloved among men [Shahids], and that I shall continue down the path, until complete victory.

I give to you, Sir Abu Hadi [name for Hassan Nasrallah] and to all the Jihad Figthers, my congratulations and [my] renewed loyalty."

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Nearly 40 years ago, Susan Atkins was a leading character in one of the most horrific chapters in California history.

On Tuesday, the former follower of Charles Manson sought to end her story on her own terms: by being allowed to go home. The state parole board denied that request.

SNIP

Susan has served a life sentence," Virginia Seals, Atkins' sister-in-law, said in arguing that the state's longest-serving female inmate be freed. "This is about her death."

SNIP

Anthony Di Maria, the nephew of Jay Sebring, who was killed along with Tate, said the families were left with scars that have never healed.

"Ms. Atkins can die with dignity," Di Maria told the parole board. "You'll hear nothing from the nine people in their graves who died horrendous deaths at the hands of Susan Atkins."

Korean U.N. soldiers secure the area near a banner erected by Hezbollah that reads:' Freedom guaranteed by Nasrallah, humiliation guaranteed by Olmert,' in preparation for the swap of prisoners between Israel and Hezbollah in the southern Litani River, Lebanon, Tuesday, July 15, 2008. In Lebanon, preparations were underway to welcome the prisoners. Red, white and green Lebanese flags, yellow Hezbollah flags and welcome banners were being hung in south Lebanon villages where the coffins will be driven in a convoy from the south to Beirut.

In Paris, you get hosed if you try to buy an "american" style breakfast. Just go to a local bakery: coffee & a couple of croissants or a small quiche, all for less than 5 euros. Same principle applies for lunch or dinner: if you go where the French eat, you pay half the price of a typical tourist meal, and get better food. Last time I was there, we bought bread & meat or cheese & wine for lunch and had picnics in parks. Way cheaper & a hole lot more fun than dealing with gruff waiters in busy restaurants.

Confusing part is that according to the govement, we were going through with this debacle, against the advice of all our security and intelligence mavins, because of Karnit Goldwasser's agunah(uncertain status as a widow)status but now say they knew from the beginning that Godwasser was dead, they were just uncertain about Regev. However, the wives/widows of the dozen Iranian Jews who disappeared while trying to escape from Iran to Israel aren't as articulate and photogenic so they're chopped liver. I guess so is Gilad Shalit, who now is just as valuable dead as alive(G-d forbid).

I agree with most of this; if the breakfast isn't included (which it usually is, I'm surprised that in this case they charge for it), I'd do the same as you. Le Marais, the Jewish quarter is very nice. If you want to save on accommodation, consider an "apartment-hotel". These are small apartments rented out to visitors, usually for a minimum of 1 week. They come with a small fridge & cooker, so you can save on eating out all the time. The price is very reasonable compared to hotels.

I don't think you would get either LGF punishment for wishing a slow, painful, brutal agonizing death of that terrorist.

They're just upset because all we ignorant Americans can say is "merci beacoup".

May he SUFFER every moment of his miserable despicable blood thirsty life, until the day, G-d willing he is snuffed out by the IDF or the Mossad. Alternately-may he get a dozen of the worst, terminal diseases known to mankind.

"...Despite the recommendation from a federal panel that the Islamic Saudi Academy in Alexandria, Va., be closed for promoting hate, the State Department won't go along. State has jurisdiction because as part of the Saudi government, the school is subject to the Foreign Missions Act. A local Democratic politician running for Congress won't support the closing of the school, either. He is Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerry Connolly, who has reportedly called critics of the academy "bigots." Perhaps his position is related to a $2.2 million check he accepted from the Saudi Embassy to extend its lease."
