....WOW, just in case you wanted to know what side the U.N. "peacekeepers" are on.

This is exactly why for the past 60+ years prior Israeli PMs have refused to turn their sovereignty of security over to the U.N. soldiers.

On another note, these U.N. guys should get a clue.....and salute these dead Terrorist the Hiz'b'allah way.

OT: Semi-flying pig? CNN reports that US soldiers in Iraq want to leave... because it's too boring and safe.

"Ninety-five percent of the time it is perfectly quiet in Ghazaliyah now," said 1st Lt. Shane Smith, who leads one of the three platoons at Maverick.

Quiet can mean boredom, as Gebhart and a colleague turn in another four-hour shift in one of Maverick's guard towers, looking over a landscape of two-story concrete buildings and green fields dotted with a few cows and goats.

To while away the time, the young soldier from Omaha, Nebraska, talks of his brother, who is fighting the Taliban in the mountains outside Kandahar city in southern Afghanistan.

"He spends 20 days at a time camped out in the mountains, and the Taliban come engage them in serious firefights," said Gebhart. "At least it sounds exciting."

94 zombie  Thu, Jul 17, 2008 9:28:48am

This gives me an idea. A serious idea.

The UN has an "army" of (corrupt) men in blue helmets around the world. They carry guns, and on occasion, use them.

Third-world guerrilla groups show absolutely no compunction shooting at these "UN peacekeepers" if the situation calls for it.

Yet we, the "civilized world," are absolutely FORBIDDEN to shoot at, engage, or in any way treat these UN troops as an enemy.

So, basically, there's a game we play in which we are not allowed to attack one of the players, although everyone else is.

Well, say the leftists, why should we want to attack them? They're neutral!

To which I reply: Neutral? Just look at that photo! They're not neutral!

They're now nothing more than a contingent of the enemy army. They're on the side of the terrorists. And yet they maintain their magic position if inviolability. They are enemies we can't engage.

I ask: Shouldn't we stop playing this game? The rules are stacked against us. (And by "us," I mean the strained remnant of nations allied against terrorism: The United States, Israel, uh...help me out here....).

So I now dare to ask the Forbidden Question:

Why can't we declare war on the U.N. itself? I'm sick of having some stateless army with a magic "You Can't Touch This"® card running this planet.

Not only should we stop funding the UN, we should declare war on it. Or at least treat them as enemy combatants. Because this picture (and their past behavior in Lebanon and elsewhere) proves they are enemy combatants.

The UN needs to be dismantled conquered now.

Then I reminded him of the 1979 takeover of US embassy in Teheran, taking of 54 Americans as hostages for 444 days, Marine Barracks bombing in Lebannon, current use of Iran's special forces ("Quods") to kill American Soldiers in Iraq and....

107 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)  Thu, Jul 17, 2008 9:32:36am

re: #94 zombie

I remember reading somewhere that the US and Japan footed 40% of the UN's bill. Seems to me that with almost 200 nations in the UN, our fair share is .5%, but we can just keep that since we're giving them the building.

Pro-Syrian academic Josh Landis tackles the tough questions..

The Prisoner Swap Controversy
Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Much of today's Daily Star is devoted to stories of the return of Lebanon's prisoners. Yesterday on NPR, Walid Junblatt defended the notion that Lebanon should welcome them as heros. Samir Kantar, the most controversial returnee, is a Druze. He killed an Israeli family in an attack on Israel in the 1970s. The controversy raises all the difficult questions about what is permissible in war. When is killing to be called terrorism and when is it legitimate? When is killing collateral damage and permissible under the "rules" of war, even if lamentable, and when does it cross the line into war crimes. Should people cheer their returning soldiers even when they have killed children and women in the name of defending the homeland? How does one measure intentions in such situations?

A similar controversy was raised by the assassination of Mughniyya, the Hizbullah hero. Some saw him as a legitimate national hero who drove foreign occupiers out of Lebanon with minimal loss of life and by targeting military objectives. Others see him as a master terrorist and murderer.

In a jaw dropping moral equivocation, Landis compares the murder of an Israeli family, including children, to the assassination of a notorious Lebanese terrorist (who may well have been killed by Syrian intelligence agents, BTW).

But to Landis, these are just two similarly complicated moral issues. Disgusting.

The UN as a peacemaking entity left the building decades ago, and continuing the charade does nothing more than provide 'cover' for these corrupt, lower than pond scum bottom feeders. They should all have mass quantities of bleach poured down their throats to disinfect their collective carcasses before burial.

Normally, I'd say let them rot in the Sun, but with this bunch, I would be worried about possible remnants of the fungus remaining alive. Better to bury them deep after disinfecting them as best as possible.

Well this is going to be a silly disagreement, as in theory I don't disagree, BUT:

Those that left Egypt were definitely "winners". In the battle between the Hebrew G-d and Pharoah, the Hebrews won.

In addition, the History of WW2 was written by the Allies who won the war. My real point however is that had Hitler won, he would not today be thought of as a pariah, and an evil man, but instead a savior, and great leader. It would not be taught that Germany invaded Poland and attempted to put the world under his submission but instead that the great liberator freed the world from the grips of the evil socialism and Jews.

I want a presidential candidate who will say, point blank, that one of his first moves in office will be to get the hell out of the UN. I am so sick and tired of my tax dollars propping up such duplicitous depravity.

Just to remind you guys, in the year 2000 Hizballa crossed the international border, killed, and kidnapped three soldiers using UN camouflage. I don't remember the exact details, but they used either a UN marked car and/or UN-style uniforms. And all this was in view of the UN contingent a short distance nearby.

Is that the one the UN actually filmed but still refuses to turn the tape over to Israel?

well, we know the un is muslim controlled - and the world doesn't care what terrorists do so long as they do it to Israel.

Why can't we declare war on the U.N. itself?

Not the best idea I've seen you come up with, zombie.

I thought it was a good idea.

Why are we in the UN? Seriously, what purpose does it serve that isn't already covered by our diplomats and ambassadors?

I sent off the photo to the Tampa Tribune with a request for an explanation. I bet I don't hear a peep for them.

Slightly OT but worth posting

The Dalai Lama calls Islam a religion of peace, but seems to be unfamiliar with almost 1,400 years of warfare being waged against those who don't want to live under Islam, the destruction of whole civilizations like the Byzantine Empire over a period of 825 years culminating with the taking of Constantinople and the three days of murder and looting which followed its capture on 29th May 1453, the conquest of Spain and Portugal from 711 - 718 and the start of the 773 years long Reconquista which resulted in the freeing of Spain on 2nd January 1492 - a date that rankles with Osama bin Laden, and the fact that the whole of Europe was one battle away from falling to the Jihad at Tours in 732.

Meanwhile, while this was happening, Persia, Afghanistan and Pakistan were overrun in the late 600s, likewise the Middle East and North Africa, and from 1000 to 1525, more than 70 million Hindus were massacred by the invading Muslims, and the massacres continued up to 1761.

And following the fall of Constantinople, Greece was conquered by the Ottomans by 1460, Hungary in 1526, Vienna was besieged in 1529 and unlike Constantinople it survived. And only 154 years after the first Siege of Vienna, the Turkenglocke was sounded again with Vienna under siege again, and on the date which according to Hilaire Belloc, ought to be amongst the most famous in history - 11th September 1683, Jan Sobieskis Winged Hussars triumphed and the Turks were driven back. And Islamic warfare against the infidel continued throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, encompassing the Greek Revolution in the 1820s through to wars against the new Jewish state of Israel in 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973, and thanks to political correctness in the West, hostile Muslims have been given a blank cheque to wage war, knowing that if they come off worst, they'll be rescued by public opinion in countries that have forgotten the past and choose to ignore the future. And this after 3,000 innocents murdered by the sort of cold blooded killing automatons inculcated in the immutable texts of the Koran, Sira and hadith in the 911 atrocity, followed by almost 11,500 Islamic terror atrocities over the following seven years - atrocities that include London, Madrid, Mumbai, Beslan, Bali to name but a few. We saw Hizbollah terrorists kidnap and murder Israeli soldiers on Israeli soil in 2006, then when the Israelis took action, Western news media outlets were only too willing to accept Hizbollah forgeries and lies as facts, academia and politicians and all manner of stupid Leftists undermined the Israelis and showed their solidarity with the barbarous murdering heathens of Hizbollah. Evil really does side with evil.

On top of this, almost 1.5 million white Europeans were kidnapped on the seas and even from their own homes and churches, (Cornwall in 1625 and Baltimore, Ireland in 1631 spring to mind) by Muslim Barbary Pirates and sold into slavery between 1550 and around 1816, when only naval action finally stopped this white slave trade that few hear about through political correctness, where over 250 years of negotiations and paying tribute had previously failed. Let that experience be a lesson for future negotiations with the mad ayatollahs of Iran who today threaten the existence of Israel and promise to bring about a second nuclear Holocaust.

All in all, this 'peaceful religion' has presided over the slaughter of over 270 million infidels whose 'crime' was to refuse to accept the Koranic way of life - a death toll which mounts with every passing year, and we didn't keep our freedoms by negotiation in the past, but by sword, bow, musket and cannon and the brave men who used them.

We forget all this at our peril.

I wonder what the Norwegians are thinking about this? They believe whole heartedly in the UN and that it is the salvation of the world. I tend to agree with them, but . . . this IS NUTS! The UN is broken, broken, broken and needs big time fixing.

I know I'm way late to this thread, but I've got to chip in.

I hope most lizards let this one sink in.

Man is (mostly) not a rational animal, but an animal that rationalizes its feelings. That's what you see here, that's what we must deal with. They feel sympathy for the guys in the coffins. They have been taught, they feel, and it is easy to believe, that suffering of the masses is due to the well being of the prosperous.

We are very nearly alone.

I'd love to find out where these idiots are from, then strip any military funding/aid that we give them. It would also be nice to stop funding the UN then kick their sorry asses out of the US- forever.

re: #149 Mike in Boulder

I can tell you that I am still extremely disgusted by this whole train of events. I couldn't agree more with this piece by Naomi Ragen.

Israel returned this murderer not only as a hero but twenty pounds overweight and without a hint of grey in his hair or moustache. I don't know why I am hung up on this latter point but I think it demonstrates that his prison stay was too easy.

Sadly I just read the NY Times article about the exchange where the reporter had the balls to describe Kuntar as being "convicted in connection with" the attack. IN CONNECTION WITH ? This makes him sound like some patsy or dupe not the Animal who murdered a father in front of his 4 year old child and then bashed the child to death. The whole thing sickens me.

I only saw your response now! I apologize -- I misunderstood you.
