Another Palestinian Bulldozer Attack in Jerusalem

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 8:01:08 am PDT

Another Palestinian ran amok with a bulldozer (actually a front loader) in Jerusalem today, near the hotel where Barack Obama plans to stay: Sixteen wounded in copycat bulldozer attack in Jerusalem.

Sixteen people were wounded, one of them moderately, as a bulldozer driver went on a rampage in central Jerusalem Tuesday afternoon in an apparent attempt to recreate the terror attack in the capital earlier this month.

The vehicle reportedly left a construction site near the Yemin Moshe neighborhood and set off towards Liberty Bell Park (Gan Hapa’amon), near the corner of Keren Hayesod and King David streets. It drove a distance of approximately 160 meters, attempting to overturn a bus and crashing into four other vehicles - one of which it flipped over. The man was then shot dead by a civilian and a border policeman.

The wounded were evacuated to hospitals in the capital. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police sealed off possible escape routes into east Jerusalem, and were searching for two suspects who fled the scene.

The attack took place in a busy part of downtown Jerusalem, several hundred meters from the luxury hotel where US presidential candidate Barack Obama is supposed to stay Tuesday night as he kicks off a visit to Israel.

The bus that was hit, No. 13, belonged to the same line of the bus that was overturned in the previous attack.

“I was driving on the main road when the (construction vehicle) hit me in the rear, on the right hand side,” the bus driver, who was not identified, told Channel 10 TV.

“After I passed him he turned round, made a U-turn and rammed the windows twice with the shovel. The third time he aimed for my head, he came up to my window and I swerved to the right, otherwise I would have gone to meet my maker,” he said.

Witness Moshe Shimshi said that the bulldozer driver, who was wearing a large, white skullcap commonly worn by religious Muslims, slammed into the side of the bus, then sped away and went for a car.

The way this is being portrayed in most media outlets, it reads like "the bulldozer" itself ran amok like some sort of remote controlled vehicle. We're just a fraction of more media bias away from the responding Israelis being accused of hate crimes for shooting the Palestinian driver who was presumably "trying to wrestle the out of control machine away from civilians".

No humans were killed, thank G-d.

This time, I hope they don't destroy the family house, but take ownership of it, and charge them rent. If they don't pay, they get evicted.
And let them know the land the house is on becomes part of Israel, and will never be transferred to a terrorist state.
That should be the rule. Every terrorist attack, land is permanently annexed by Israel.
If the palis want land for peace (but never give peace), then if Israel doesn't get peace, they get land. Eventually, there will be no place for the palis to live. Too f*ing bad.

As an FYI it was a backhoe. They have a weight distribution that is concentrated in the back of the vehicle. Not much got squished because of that. From the damage I saw, it looks like most he was able to do was ram things and flip some cars over.

If he had driven it backwards he might have squished more.

The loader used in the first attack was a different (and vastly more deadly) story.

These reporters don't know a bulldozer from a front end loader, a rocket from an artillery shell, a carbine from a machine gun, or a shell casing from a live round. One suspects that many of these stories are covered from the hotel bar, with help from obliging runners.

Very true. This is in fact an entirely new avenue of Islamic research, as distinct from their "strap bomb to X" line of advances in the 20th century (which reached its zenith with the creative "shoe bomb" and "wandering donkey bomb"). By expanding into the newly discovered field of "ram civilians with X", Muslims have laid claim to the 21st century as truly a time of Islamic innovation and running people over.

Palestinian and other assorted Muslim's 'progress': in pre-State times, they would use their bare hands to beat up and have pogroms...then they 'progressed' to using the primitive guns at the time, and battered tanks. Then, they started stabbing Jews, kitchen knives were pretty easy to get a hold of. They also got very skilled at hanging "Zionist traitors" in other Arab countries. Then, they started to blow themselves up in places crowded with Jews-but before that, they started highjacking airplanes and smashing children's skulls in front of their parents. Then, they 'progressed' to blowing up airplanes and American buildings. They 'progressed' to blowing up pizza parlours, discos, drive-by shootings, weddings, bar mitzvahs and stoning Jewish worshipers. Then, they 'progressed' to lynching IDF reservists who had strayed into Ramallah-which has got to be Judenrein. Then, they 'progressed' to using cell phones to detonate themselves and others. And, now 'progressing' to use building equipment-meant to help, build and civilize, for murder.

THIS CULTURE IS IRREDEEMABLE.

Some of the MSM stories have changed "civilian" to "off duty soldier".

Is that true, or is it just that they had to once more do the "OMG we can't let them think armed civilians can take action!" revisions? Sort of like how the civilian who shot the would-be church massacre killer became a "former police officer"?

Unless both use the exact same email service from the same server the chances of two corrupt emails are exceeding small. I won't get into the mind numbing details, but a receiving server checks the validity of an email and if it's corrupt requests a resend if the check fails.

For both to have sent emails that got corrupted makes sense if the originate form the same server and that server is faulting.

But for both to get corrupted otherwise, tells me that you services receiving service is not receiving, and checking correctly as the more likely culprit.

He writes about Obama:

Not that we doubt your friendship: Your description of Israeli security as "sacrosanct," and your passionate endorsement of Israel's cause at the annual AIPAC conference in Washington, were greeted with banner headlines in the Israeli press.

I had a delightful time talking with a group of teenagers at the Knesset as we were waiting to enter and to me, as individuals, they were. Maybe this is just "talking to the tourists", but I was so encouraged to find so many there were so well adjusted to the kind of lives they live and seem to see it no big deal. In comparison to American teens they appeared to have more mature attitudes. Anyway, I was very impressed!

Although more Israelis drive than it used to be, most families that have a car only have one and a lot of families have none. Besides the fact that gasoline here costs the equivalent of $7.80 a gallon, parking in Jerusalem is hard to come by. And the bus system is well-developed and relatively cheap(I haven't bothered to drive in years). So you see a lot more buses on the road than you'd see in an American city. My bad: Fox News version

Maybe it's been partially corrected? Now reads:

Israel captured east Jerusalem in 1967, along with the West Bank, and annexed it. The 208,000 Palestinians who live there make up less than a third of the city's population. They are not Israeli citizens but carry Israeli ID cards that allow them freedom of movement throughout Israel, unlike West Bank Palestinians. Many east Jerusalem Palestinians work in construction in the Jewish parts of the city.

Of course the attack was carried out in West Jerusalem, i.e. the part that has always been Israeli. Most generous read is that they are explaining how an East Jerusalem Arab is able to move the vehicle through West Jerusalem.

Another episode of Sudden Construction Vehicle Syndrome, combined with another of timely and accurate firearms skills. Good shot.

Another brain donor who won't be down for Friday 'prayers'.

I didn't see the AP version but if they said only "Jerusalem, which was captured by Israel in 1967..." it definitely deserves a "WTF?"

Boteach advocates Death Penalty for Terrorists.

My (minor) disagreement with his argument is that it would not stop Arab attempts to kidnap soldiers and civilians. Kidnapping would continue, and attempts might even increase in order to a) obtain release of the terrorist prior to execution (or waive the execution) or b) to obtain the release of the many Palestinians who are in prison for terrorism related offenses but without blood on their hands, who would not be subject to capital punishment.

That doesn't mean Israel shouldn't reconsider the death penalty. Some people, as Boteach eloquently puts it, "have erased the image of God from their countenance and have forfeited any reasonable right to walk God's earth."

The best thing to do, when there is no question about the terrorist's involvement, as in this morning's attack, is to take care of the problem immediately, permanently, on location.

A civilian took him out. That man (or woman) deserves a medal for good shooting. One less scumbag breathing Israeli air.

I continue to wonder why Israel allows Hamas to live next door to them.

Fixed it for you.

Gag-Order on Terrorist's Name

The dead tractor terrorist was an Israeli citizen, living in Um Tuba, a south-eastern Jerusalem Arab neighborhood not far from Sur Baher. His name was publicized over the radio, and minutes later, a gag order prohibiting it from being disseminated was publicized - apparently because of his family connections with a an orange-bearded Hamas legislator who has been jailed for involvement in terrorism.

Well, that explains it all. My blood boils in fury.

I kind of like that these terrorists are so vain they henna their beards.
Then they henna their eyebrow.
Woody Allan could play any of them this way.

Sixteen people were wounded, one of them moderately, as a bulldozer driver went on a rampage in central Jerusalem Tuesday afternoon in an apparent attempt to recreate the terror attack in the capital earlier this month.

Well, at least they reported that the loadere was even being driven. Usually, the line goes "Bulldozer goes on murderous rampage", as if there were no driver. You know, like SUV accidents in the US.

Glad to see they shot and killed the asshole driving the loader.

Im just wondering if the "Civillian" is a Civillian after all. because if you watch the YOU TUBE video you clearly see an M-16 armed Soldier in the foreground and he is NOT firing ,in fact his weapon is pointed in a safe direction. Perhaps the plainclothes guys are just that - plainclothes police or anti-terrorist , In any event Im happy that the SCUMBAG is dead. And thank goodness he caused no loss of life.

The equipment involved this time is usually called a front end loader or front end loader/backhoe. The unit used in the previous attack is commonly called a wheel loader.

The media are 100% correct calling them bulldozers because they were both yellow and they are both built to scrape the ground (snicker). Also many people call the media BULL shitters and stupid DOZERS so the terms are familiar.

I'm waiting for the media to report on the moonbats wanting to boycott Caterpillar for making these machines of death.

/Oh wait, they're killing Jews and not nitwit America haters... nevermind

After reading of a private citizen and a police man acting to stop a hell bent thug with a back hoe to murder innocent civilians brings a smile to my face. Israel recognizes its citizens as deserving to act with deadly force to stop murderous thugs. Makes me want to learn Hebrew and spend my tourist money in Israel.

re: #326 Alibaba

A lot if Israelis are armed - and you can use a cell phone to record.

Well I live in a yishuv near Barqan/Ariel and I am aware that we have lots of people with handguns here, but still it is harder to get a handgun permit if you live in the city as you have less 'need'. Still every army officer has to carry a weapon so that like the man in the case, he would carry it around.

Dammit, I know this is nit-picky Charles, but being a construction worker I need to vent a little. The attack was carried out by a rubber tired backhoe, not a front end loader. I know potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto...
