RetweetKaradzic Arrested, Was Disguised As Doctor

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:54:46 am PDT

Serbian nationalist Radovan Karadzic, one of the most wanted men in Europe, has been arrested in Belgrade working as a doctor.

“Karadzic used false documents with the name Dragan Dabic,” said Rasim Ljajic, the minister in charge of cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

He had been posing as a doctor of alternative medicine, sporting long hair, a beard and glasses to hide his face.

A picture shown to reporters showed an unrecognisable Karadzic, markedly thin, with a long white beard and flowing hair. Serbian officials said he was walking freely around town and earned money from practising medicine.

They said they could not divulge more details because it might jeopardise efforts to arrest two other war crime suspects on the run.

Karadzic was arrested late on Monday night in Belgrade by the Serbian security services, the office of Serb president Boris Tadic said. The 63-year-old former war leader is accused of orchestrating the worst acts of brutality Europe has seen since the Nazi campaigns of the Second World War.

Actually, Israel's own worst enemy can be Israel, if you know what I mean. (Think 2006 Lebanon war; unilateral withdrawal from Gaza; expulsion of jews from Judaea and Samaria.)

Here, for example, is a multiple-choice question that appears in a recent edition of a Saudi fourth-grade textbook, Monotheism and Jurisprudence, in a section that attempts to teach children to distinguish "true" from "false" belief in god:

Q. Is belief true in the following instances:
a) A man prays but hates those who are virtuous.

c) A man worships God alone, loves the believers, and hates the unbelievers.

Fact is that in all of Europe, there are lots of loud-mouthed politicians everywhere, but tehre are only two proper armed forces, Britain and Germany - ok, two-and-a-half if you take France.
the rest are decorations (sorry, but thats how it is!).
Unfortunately, the British and German politicians have strangled their armed forces and deprived them of money and weapons for the last ten years, they are bleeding to death by bureauratic cuts.

And lets not forget that there are still, in most of Europe, fears and resentments about German Armed Forces, thanks to a certain Mr Hitler ...

Yeah, but then remember that one of them were the Durch, and it was on their watch that Srebrenica happened ...

As would Scottish reivers and highland fighters, and Irish pirates and clansmen - all pretty good with various sharp implements, and the best guerrilla forces, before that word was invented.

re: #79 Vergeltung

yes, the conflict is centuries old, ethnic hatreds, along the borders and demarcation lines where European Kings defeated the Muslim advances into s/eastern europe, in the 16th (17th?) century.

IIRC, Vlad, The Impaler (Dracula) played a part in fending off the Muslim hordes by creating a field of impaled Ottoman fighters and conducting guerrilla warfare around 1460 A.D.

This from wiki:

Following family traditions and due to his old hatred towards the Ottomans, Vlad decided to side with the Hungarians. To the end of the 1450s there was once again talk about a war against the Turks, in which the king of Hungary Matthias Corvinus would play the main role. Knowing this, Vlad stopped paying tribute to the Ottomans in 1459 and around 1460 made a new alliance with Corvinus. This angered the Turks, who attempted to remove him. They failed, however; later in the winter of 1461 to 1462 Vlad crossed south of the Danube and devastated the area between Serbia and the Black Sea.

In response to this, Sultan Mehmed II, the recent conqueror of Constantinople, raised an army of around 60,000 troops and 30,000 irregulars and in the spring of 1462 headed towards Wallachia. Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror was greeted by the sight of a veritable forest of stakes on which Vlad the Impaler had impaled 20,000 Turkish prisoners.[7] With his army of 20,000–30,000 men Vlad was unable to stop the Turks from entering Wallachia and occupying the capital Târgovişte (June 4, 1462), so he resorted to guerrilla war, constantly organizing small attacks and ambushes on the Turks. The most important of these attacks took place on the nights of June 16–17, when Vlad and some of his men allegedly entered the main Turkish camp (wearing Ottoman disguises) and attempted to assassinate Mehmed. Unable to subdue Vlad, the Turks left the country, leaving Radu the Handsome to continue fighting. Despite Vlad achieving military victories, he had alienated himself from the nobility, which sided with Radu the Handsome. By August 1462 Radu had struck a deal with the Hungarian Crown. Consequently, Vlad was imprisoned by Matthias Corvinus.

True - and the left in the German Parliament is niggling over any extra German soldier sent to Afghanistan, and if they're sent, then they must be peaceful and not shoot or do anything violent.
They even refused to help the Canadians and Brits in the South, when the fighting there was very bad.

Basically, the German left is pissing themselves of being regarded by the rest of the world as Hitler's children if they let the German Armed Forces do their job.

The funny thing is that here in GB Gordon Brown seems to have squashed all criticism of Germany adn their non-involvement in Afghanistan, even though our troups are suffering badly there.

Benefits reforms - Crackdown on claimants may rescue Labour

JAMES PURNELL, the Work and Pensions Secretary, has described his package of benefit reforms as the biggest shake-up since the Beveridge Report heralded the creation of the modern welfare state back in the 1940s.

People on Incapacity Benefit will have to undergo independent medical tests to see if there is any work they could do; people who have been unemployed for long periods will have to join "work for dole" schemes; lone parents with children aged seven or more will be expected to seek work; and jobless drug addicts will only receive benefits if they accept treatment.

Mr Purnell says the reforms put responsibility "right at the heart of the welfare state" and will help transform the lives of millions of people across the country.

Polish King Jan Sobieski defeated the Turks at the gates of Vienna on September 12, 1683. Sept. 11 was the furthest extent of the islamic invasion of the west, until 9/11/01. That Bin laden chose that date to launch his attack was no coincidence.

I think we need more government regulation of pixel use. We can't go around using as many pixels as we want and expect the rest of the world to stay quiet.

Polish King Jan Sobieski defeated the Turks at the gates of Vienna on September 12, 1683. Sept. 11 was the furthest extent of the islamic invasion of the west, until 9/11/01. That Bin laden chose that date to launch his attack was no coincidence.

Ah, Polish. cool. Hey no one's perfect. I was quoting all that from memory! :)

American flag disappears from the Obama campaign plane's tail

Nobody's saying he's unpatriotic, but what kind of man uses his own symbol instead of the flag on the tail of his official campaign plane?

World Net Daily's Aaron Klein notices that the American flag has been painted over on the tail of the 757 airplane chartered by the Obama campaign. In its place is the circular campaign symbol use by the campaign (not the embarrassing faux seal of the president ash-canned by the campaign).

Oddly enough, press reports from Fox News and the Chicago Sun-Times on the refurbishment of the plane failed to note the disappearance of the flag, while admiring the comfortable new seats, each with an electric power outlet.

Let me be clear that I am not "questioning his patriotism." The candidate is free to substitute a self-referential symbol for the flag. And we are free to notice and consider it another data point on the man's character.

T. Boone Pickens has the right idea. The USA has to stop buying it's oil from enemies. This we all agree. However, what he fails to account for is the most of the crude imported into the USA comes from Canada.

Canada buys a lot of the USA, so most of the money comes back...

And of course Canada is not a threat to the USA.

The Saudi Guide To Piety

Here, for example, is a multiple-choice question from a recent edition of a Saudi fourth-grade textbook, "Monotheism and Jurisprudence," in a section that attempts to teach children to distinguish between "true" and "false" belief in God:

Q. "Is belief true in the following instances:

(a) A man prays but hates those who are virtuous.

(b) A man professes that there is no deity other than God but loves the unbelievers.

(c) A man worships God alone, loves the believers, and hates the unbelievers."

The correct answer, of course, is (c): According to the Wahhabi imams who wrote this textbook, it isn't enough to simply worship God or just to love other believers; it is important to hate unbelievers, too. By the same token, (b) is wrong as well: Even a man who worships God cannot be said to have "true belief" if he also loves unbelievers.

. . .

These passages, it should be noted, are from new, "revised" Saudi textbooks, designed to be less harsh on the infidels. After an analysis of earlier textbooks caused an outcry in 2006, American diplomats approached their Saudi counterparts about modifying the more disturbing passages, and the Saudis agreed to conduct a "comprehensive revision . . . to weed out disparaging remarks toward religious groups."

The promised revision -- hailed at the time as a great diplomatic success -- was supposed to be finished by the beginning of the 2008-09 school year and was accompanied by a Saudi public relations campaign. Among other things, the Saudis sponsored an interfaith dialogue this week, one that all participants hailed as a great breakthrough -- despite the fact that the meetings took place in Spain, apparently because it would be too embarrassing for Saudi Arabia to host Christian and Jewish religious leaders on its own soil. But now the beginning of the 2008-09 school year is nearly upon us, the only textbook revisions have been superficial and the most disturbing part of the books' message -- that faithful Muslims should hate Jews and Christians -- remains.

/you didn't really think they'd change the textbooks, did you?

I actually know aguy who found out he had gotten launched when he went came back from lunch and they had repainted his parking spot and put somebody else's name on it while he was out.

I worked at a bank where they laid off about 10% of the staff. They actually called the names off over the PA and asked the folks to come to HR. Talk about cold.

Taliban militants have launched some 100 suicide attacks so far this year, mostly targeting Afghan and international security forces but as many as 80 percent of their victims are civilians, security experts say.

Mullah Rahim, the top commander for southern Helmand province, gave himself up after British forces had killed two other Taliban leaders in little over three weeks.

Hours after his surrender, another senior Taliban commander, Abdul Rasaq, also known as "Mullah Sheikh," was killed in a British missile strike 15 km (9 miles) north of the town of Musa Qala in Helmand on Monday morning, the British army said in a statement.

Julie Gorin writes a lot about the Ballkans - particularly the desecrations of Eastern Orthodox churches by Moslems and Croats and also about the crazy Croat singer who likes singing Nazi songs about killing Serbs. Nobody has ever taken the Croats to task for what they did during WWII and continue to do.

LOL At one time, before my hubby's illness, we had a few bucks in there. Now, just two checking accts and a very, very small savings. Still, I think it is that other agency, not the FDIC, that it is insured with. I know there are big differences between the agencies. I just don't want any hassles as one is my business operating account.

But the net nanny software had an issue with me googling "webcam Hong Kong". I turned around after 5 minutes of futile attempts and the school Principal was glaring at me. They had the software set up to notify her of repeated attempts to download inappropriate material. Ouch.

re: #393 Killgore Trout

Hmm...That's a good idea.

Here's just one idea, it's called the "ladder structure".

Let's say you got $25,000 in cash.

Break it up into 10 $2,500 chunks, and they put them out into CD's 6 months apart, every six months out to 5 years into the future.

That way you got $2,500 in cash coming available every six months. When the first "rung" of the ladder matures in 6 months, roll it over to 5 years out.

That way, you gradually ratchet up your interst rate until you are constantly earning a 5 year rate but having cash come available every 6 months.

And it's all insured.

Yeah, but then remember that one of them were the Durch, and it was on their watch that Srebrenica happened ...

And lets not forget that there are still, in most of Europe, fears and resentments about German Armed Forces, thanks to a certain Mr Hitler ...

yma -

Actually, the Dutch, the Danes and the Poles are quite good as well, just very small. As to the British cutting back on military - put it like this - HM's Royal Navy is rapidly transforming itself into the "Royal Coast Guard," which troubles me more than reductions in land forces. Kind of leaves us and the Indians as the major "Anglosphere" Naval Powers.

P.S. Where do you see the market going in the next 6-8 months?

Depends on the price of oil.

Assuming that a shooting war does not start in Iran, the market will trade sideways until after the election and then will rise. Congress is doing everything they can to train wreck the economy until then to improve the Democrats chances of winning.

If war starts in Iran, $4 a gallon gas will look like a bargain with the resulting damage tot he economy.

There are ways to position yourself to make money either way.

#32 yochanan is the only one who nailed it in here.

Serbian "atrocities" and "genocide" against the Peaceful, Albanian Muslims was greatly exaggerated by the media and America bombed the living crap outta Orthodox Christians on nothing but false rumors.

We bombed the Serbian Christians to defend Albanian Muslims and what did we get in return?...just go look at the hole where the Twin Towers used to be. Were the Serb's always in the right?...no they were not, but the Serbians were doing what they needed to do to prevent a Islamic state from being born in their backyard. Now that Islamic state has been born, thanks to American firepower.

The dirty filthy Albanians also committed their share of atrocities, yet that never seems to make it to the newspapers. Oh, I see, Christians are "bad" and the poor Muslims are just victims. How many times have we talked about that bias in the media in this very room!

Never forget the Croats wore Nazi uniforms during WW II and the Serbs helped us out.

I checked FAA reqs. No requirement for a flag. The November number is sufficient national ID.

I didn't think there was a requirement. You rarely see a general aviation aircraft with one. Interestingly, in its former paint scheme, Obama's plane had two American flags on it - one on the forward fuselage, and a huge one on the tail.

re: #580 buzzsawmonkey

I don't understand why the lefties are so convinced that we are going to get the Magic Alternative Energy Source that Defies the Laws of Physics and Economics™ by cudgeling the oil companies over the head.

[Link: chizumatic.mee.nu...]

In order for "alternate energy" to become feasible, it has to satisfy all of the following criteria:

1. It has to be huge (in terms of both energy and power)
2. It has to be reliable (not intermittent or unschedulable)
3. It has to be concentrated (not diffuse)
4. It has to be possible to utilize it efficiently
5. The capital investment and operating cost to utilize it has to be comparable to existing energy sources (per gigawatt, and per terajoule).

If it fails to satisfy any of those, then it can't scale enough to make any difference. Solar power fails #3, and currently it also fails #5. (It also partially fails #2, but there are ways to work around that.)

The only sources of energy available to us now that satisfy all five are petroleum, coal, hydro, and nuclear.

My rule of thumb is that I'm not interested in any "alternate energy" until someone shows me how to scale it to produce at least 1% of our current energy usage. America right now uses about 3.6 terawatts average, so 1% of that is about 36 gigawatts average.

Show me a plan to produce 36 gigawatts (average, not peak) using solar power, at a price no more than 30% greater than coal generation of comparable capacity, which can be implemented at that scale in 10-15 years. Then I'll pay attention.

Since solar power installations can only produce power for about 10 hours per day on average, that means that peak power production would need to be in the range of about 85 gigawatts to reach that 1%.

Without that, it's just religion, like all the people fascinated with wind and with biomass. And even if it did reach 1%, that still leaves the other 99% of our energy production to petroleum, coal, hydro, and nuclear.

The problems facing "alternate energy" are fundamental, deep, and are show-stoppers. They are not things that will be surmounted by one lone incremental improvement in one small area, announced breathlessly by a startup which is trying to drum up funding.
The way you can tell that a fan of "alternate energy" is a religious cultist is to ask them this question: If your preferred alternate source of energy is practical, why isn't it already in use?
Why not? Because of The Conspiracy™. The big oil companies don't want it to happen, and have been suppressing all this live-saving green people's energy all this time for their own nefarious purposes.
As soon as you hear any reference to The Conspiracy™, you know you're talking to someone who is living in a morality play. That isn't engineering any more, that's religion. And while religion is an important part of many people's lives, it has no place in engineering discussions.
UPDATE: There's actually another common answer to the "Why not" question. It's because you engineers are just too hidebound and conservative and unimaginative. If you'd just get on board and recognize how utterly cool and romantic these other ways of producing energy would be, then you could wave your magic engineering wand and make it happen.
That's another kind of religion. It's not a religious struggle against evil (as personified by Big Oil) so much as a religious image of paradise. If the adherents of this kind of religion can just convert enough doubters, then paradise can happen. If you just believe, we can all be saved! Hallelujah, baby! Praise Gaia and pass the biodiesel!
Thanks, but no thanks. My "conservatism" on this subject is due to my understanding of the laws of physics and the principles of engineering, not to me being hidebound and unimaginative.

You really had to put the words atrocities and genocide in quotes, as if there's any question they occured at the hands of the Serbs? No doubt all three sides- Serb, Croat and Muslim- had innocent blood on their hands, but the Serbs (perhaps because they had greater means to do so) were unquestionably the worst offenders.

As to the Albanian Muslims in Kosovo- yes, they're still majority Muslims (or at least Muslim in name only), but not of the Middle East variety; a more pro-American and liberal group of Muslims you're unlikely to find anywhere else... including the US. As to Albania- they sent troops to Afghanistan and Iraq; not exactly what you'd expect from a potential jihadist state.

Beware of Cape Cod tours anyway. They like to have fun with people, and hand out a lot of misinformation. I knew one guide who told everyone that it took weeks to plow the cape after it snows, because we keep all the plows in P-town, to clear the sand from the road after sand storms. We do not have sand storms here. I pissed him off when I called him on it, in front of the clients. I was driving the tour bus.

Alternative energy is not supposed to REPLACE traditional energy, just make us less dependant on it.

If we could take the USA, Canada and Mexico out of the world oil bidding process, the price would drop.

I personally would prefer to only use oil from USA, Canada and Mexico. I would pay more if I knew the source didn't include terror supporting states.

I would pay more for a car that made that goal easier. I would use alternative energy for things like heating (electricity generated by Hydro).

By the way, I find it interesting that the leftists are, on the one hand, very gung-ho about throwing copyrighted material into the public domain so that it can be "common property," and at the same time very, very busy suppressing a vast amount of that very "common property" because it does not conform to their delicate post-modern sensibilities.

The Demonrats ran John Kerry (de eedeot) for POTUS, and came within a hair of winning. Now they are running another empty suit for President. Will their luck change? I think it depends on how stupid the average voter is, and it is looking like stupid is slowly winning the race. If we weren't actually pretty stupid, we would have much better choices to choose from. The outcome of this election will tell me much about how long America will stay America. The left doesn't have a clue as to what they are going to give birth to, but it won't be the nanny state nirvana they envision.

OT
This morning I was listening to Obama, and I actually heard him refer to himself as "commander in chief", and then change it to "potential" commander in chief.

Well, from Politico.com (I cut a couple of paragraphs and the best 2 paragraphs in bold):

AMMAN, Jordan – Democrat Barack Obama’s entire traveling campaign apparatus is in place.
. . .
But senior aides engaged in a bit of rhetorical gymnastics Tuesday as they faced reporters who questioned their resistance to acknowledging the political aspects of Obama’s week-long, high-profile tour against the backdrop of an intense American presidential campaign.
. . .
“It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.

“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser.

Yes. In fact, I have been thinking about his idiocy and that of his fellow Senate Democrats as I look out over my former avocado grove that I will soon have to replant.

I thought about fruit flies, and it all became clear.

Whenever Mediterranean fruit flies hit California crops, one technique for combating them is to flood the area with sterilized fruit flies. The idea is to exploit the fruit flies desire for an orgasm in an unproductive fashion. The fruit flies get plenty of sex, but fewer and fewer babies arrive.

John Kerry is the political equivalent of a sterilized fruit fly. Liberals turn to him for some quasi validation on their inane ideas, which he gladly provides. But once he repeats those ideas in front of a camera, they die. They just die.

We need more John Kerry's among the Democratic ranks. I expect that by November, we will have one in the person of Barack Obama, empty suit and all.

To say it bluntly, I would rather see HRC as POTUS than the Obamation. John McCain is a weak candidate and I'm worried about his electability. If the left should win, HRC would cause the least amount of damage as POTUS when one considers the Obamation. I will vote for McCain and pray for his succcess.

I realize that my post was somewhat difficult for one to ascertain my position. I may not find John MCain to be my favorite candidate for the election but I find HRC a more acceptable opponnent than BHO.

It's the old "the lesser of two evils" thing. I view HRC as "the lesser of two evils' when compared to the Obamation. I view McCain vs HRC as "the lesser of two evils".

I wish, in one way, that HRC steals the nomination from the Obamanation which gives the Republicans a more difficult race or the Obamanation seals the nomination which gives McCain an easier route to becoming POTUS.

As you can see, I am faced with a dilemma.

I'm not minimizing the evil that this particular guy did, but as you say, when it comes to the Balkans, you can't generalize about one side being "better" than the other one.

In other words, you can't see anything wrong with a war of aggression deliberately ignited by Serbonazis in Belgrade in the belief that they'd be able to make their deluded dreams of Serbian supremacy come true with the help of the former Yugoslav Federal Army, at the expense of Croats, Bosnians and Kosovars, among others.

You're the one who should be ashamed.

Many thousands of Serb Christians lost their lives fighting the Nazis. Many thousands of Bosnian Muslims helped the Nazis as members of the Waffen SS led by Al-Husseini, the grand Mufti of Jerusalem.
Upon the dissolution of Yugoslavia Serbia found itself once more fighting for its life against Islamic jihad. It is the Israel of the Balkans and similarly maligned and demonised by the MSM.
The Christian Balkans were invaded and conquered by the Ottoman Muslims centuries ago. Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia are all occupied territories. And they still want the rest. In the 90s Serbia sought to protect itself and the US and Nato bombed it...thus defending Muslims and attacking Christians. Betrayal.
The conflict in the Balkans is a religious one and has been ever since the Muslims invaded. Now Kosovo, the heartland of Serbian Orthodox Christianity, has been given to the Muslims who are busy destroying every remaining church there and persecuting the few Kosovan Serbs left. The Eurodhimmis love the Kosovans because they are the designated 'victims' and the EU has recognised this burgeoning islamic state and it will probably eventually be welcomed into the union.
Karadzic is innocent until proven guilty. He was defending his culture and country and probably had 600 years of pressure from the satanic death cult of Islam on his mind. If he did murder men and boys in cold blood, you can guarantee that given the opportunity, his Muslim enemy would have done the same and worse. And to a Muslim, there is no such thing as an innocent infidel 'civilian' and that mind set lies completely outside the jurisdiction of any war crimes tribunal. They do not make that distinction between combatants and civilians.
I am not justifying any atrocities purportedly carried out by Karadzic but some of the above comments on this thread seem a tad hysterical and come across as just as brainwashed by the MSM as the left and their irrational hatred of Israel and its so-called 'war criminals'.

You're the one who should be ashamed.

Glad to know Mr. Karadzic is a true Christian warrior in your book. In most everyone else's, he is a war criminal. A little Adolf in drag. A Serbonazi version of Ze Führer deserving of your sympathy. Unlike his, gasp, MUSLIM victims.

Oh, yes, ALL those Serbonazis accused of war crimes were Christian, in case you're wondering. In fact, their Orthodox brethren (Greeks, more specifically) cheered them on with a candor that made the rest of Western Europe blush. Except for France, that is.

Et, bien sûr, during ze carnage ze good Frogmen dressed as respectable UN "peacekeepers" watched from the sidelines with complacency while your beloved Serbonazis cleansed Bosnia of Muslims and Croats. Because they’re still stuck on stupid La Grande Guerre. It's 1914 all over again dans Les Champs-Elysées.

Meanwhile, Russia abetted and supported Serb atrocities in the region through a constant influx of weapons in violation of the UN embargo, to the delight of 'Chetniks' who'd rather turn what was left of Yugoslavia by 1999 into a smoldering pile of rubble than abandon their crazy totalitarian project of establishing an ethnically pure "Serbonaziland", cleansed of üntermensch.

But it was OK, because they were fighting a "satanic death cult," as you put it.

And were the Croats also part of a "satanic death cult" or is that 'Klu-Klux-Klanesque' slur of yours reserved for Muslims only? 'Cause Serbian war criminals also razed Catholic (read Croat) villages and towns.

Russia Reported to Agree to Sell Heavy Weapons to Yugoslavia

In a move that could threaten the delicate peace in the Balkans, Russia has agreed in principle to sell Yugoslavia tanks, attack helicopters, ground-to-air missiles, MIG-29's and spare parts, American officials report.

The deal, which was arranged in Moscow in December, has not been made public, and American officials say they are in the dark about the details, including the quantity of weapons and how many have already been delivered.

The Russian weapons will put Yugoslavia in violation of the Dayton agreement, which ended the fighting in Bosnia, said an official with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The organization, which monitors compliance with limits set on weapons in the Balkans, had not been told about the Russian deal, the official said.

World: Europe

Milosevic's weapons plea

The Liman sails from the Black Sea port of Sevastopol

Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has asked for Russian help in defending his country from Nato attacks.

And Russian officials have indicated military aid may become available.

The developments came as Russia despatched a spy ship to the Mediterranean, where it will monitor Nato operations against Yugoslavia.

Mr Milosevic told a delegation of Russian parliamentarians in Belgrade that the Yugoslav authorities wanted military aid from Moscow to defend themselves better against the air strikes.

Sergey Baburin, leader of the Russian delegation, told a crowd in central Belgrade that Russian hearts were with them today, and he hoped that Russian missiles would be with them tomorrow.

Sure. And the Poles attacked the radio station at Gleiwitz (Gliwice) on September 1st, 1939.

Only problem for you and the David Irvings of this world is the historical record proves otherwise:

The first casualty in Bosnia is a point of contention between Serbs and Bosniaks. Serbs consider Nikola Gardović, a groom's father who was killed at a Serb wedding procession on the second day of the referendum, on March 1, 1992 in Sarajevo's old town Baščaršija, to be the first victim of the war. Bosniaks and Croats meanwhile consider the first casualties of the war before the independence to be Croat civilians massacred by the Yugoslav People's Army (later transformed in Army of Republika Srpska and Army of Serbia and Montenegro) in Ravno village located in Herzegovina on September 30, 1991 during the course of its siege of the city of Dubrovnik (which was on the territory of Croatia itself). Bosniaks also consider the first individual casualty of the war after the independence of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be Suada Dilberović, who was shot during a peace march by unidentified gunmen on April 5 from a Serb sniper nest in a Holiday Inn hotel.

The systematic ethnic cleansing in Bosnia Herzegovina had already begun before independence was declared.

The first victims were "Croat civilians massacred by the Yugoslav People's Army."

Stop lying through your teeth.

And were the Croats also part of a "satanic death cult" or is that 'Klu-Klux-Klanesque' slur of yours reserved for Muslims only? 'Cause Serbian war criminals also razed Catholic (read Croat) villages and towns.

Like I wrote before:

The systematic ethnic cleansing in Bosnia Herzegovina had already begun before independence was declared.

The first victims were "Croat [i.e Roman Catholic] civilians massacred by the Yugoslav People's Army."

You're defending Serbonazis who killed Muslim and Catholic civilians alike.

Ah, I see. So that justifies the tit for tat? Grrreat.

You know you have no decency whatsoever, don't you?

Killing civilians in cold blood (murdering them) is ALWAYS wrong. Something tells me you are one of those religious hypocrites who claim atheists have no morals.

Anyway, since Israelis aren't free of blame either (nobody is, by your twisted logic), they deserve whatever's coming to them.

Listen, dude, I don't have to make up excuses for NO ONE, and that includes the Dutch battalion that stood by and did nothing to prevent the massacre at Srebrenica. Your moral equivocation is plain unadulterated BS. Two wrongs don't make a right. Get it?

Sorry. I don't need to defend Croats or Muslims in order to denounce the Serbonazi atrocities and war crimes for what they are. YOU, on the other hand, seem to be pretty cozy with the Chetniks and their ethnic cleansing policies.

¡Hola, Paquito!

Yawn

851 A. van Hilten  Wed, Jul 23, 2008 8:12:21am

Bwahahahaha.

Gil-White is a laugh riot:

Gil-White's contract at the University of Pennsylvania, which began in September 2001, has not been renewed. Gil-White claims that this was a politically motivated dismissal due to his controversial political views, such as a refutation of the conventional version of the 1990s civil wars in Yugoslavia [1] and the view that the Palestine Liberation Organisation traces its roots to Adolf Hitler's World War II Final Solution.[2] Gil-White has made public documents relevant to his dispute with the University of Pennsylvania,[3] and has stated publicly that he is planning to sue the university.[4] On 17 February 2005, Gil-White appeared on Hannity and Colmes (Fox News Channel) in a segment on "how far academic freedom should go" regarding his controversial positions that NATO framed Slobodan Milošević, the U.S. government is in fact an enemy of Israel, and his agreement with independent investigation that skeptically examines the official version of events on the September 11, 2001 attacks. To the interviewer's questions, Gil-White pointed out that the university never objected to his opinions on 9-11, which it appears to have been unaware of, and that the insistence of the interviewers on this issue was strange given that the interview was supposedly about the reason Gil-White was fired from UPENN, namely, his research on US foreign policy and on the origins of the PLO.[5]

You're quoting a TROOFER, kuffarharbi.

In order to defend a genocidal maniac.

And all this because of your hatred of Muslims.

For shame, buddy!

Or should I say "Begone, foul troll!"?

Yawn again. You remind me of the knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail who wouldn't give up the fight even though all his limbs were lopped off. You also remind me of witch hunters.

853 A. van Hilten  Wed, Jul 23, 2008 8:32:43am

Can you say hopelessly clueless M-O-O-N-B-A-T?

Gil-White was assistant editor at the online magazine Emperor's Clothes[6] from 2002 to 2005, and now runs his Foundation for the Analysis of Conflict, Ethnic and Social (FACES FECES), which supports his website, Historical and Investigative Research, which publishes his political writings. He stopped writing for Emperor's Clothes after disagreements with editor Jared Israel, who charged on the website Israpundit that Gil-White misrepresented historian Nathan Weinstock as an enemy of the Jews, and falsified documentation to support his accusation that the main US Zionist leader, Rabbi Steven Wise, "got his wish" when the holocaust took place.[7] Gil-White answered these charges on the same Israpundit page, presenting evidence to support his view that Nathan Weinstock is indeed an enemy of the Jews, and that so was Rabbi Steven Wise.

Is that the best you can do?

What a sorry excuse of a revisionist troll you are, Paquito.

863 Charles  Wed, Jul 23, 2008 11:36:05am

I've just read this thread, and as far as I can see A. Van Hilten has clearly said he is not making excuses for either side. However, kuffarharbi posted this:

Karadzic is innocent until proven guilty. He was defending his culture and country and probably had 600 years of pressure from the satanic death cult of Islam on his mind. If he did murder men and boys in cold blood, you can guarantee that given the opportunity, his Muslim enemy would have done the same and worse.

That's a repellent statement, I repudiate it utterly, and I don't want any more of this at LGF. 'Alibaba' has responded by calling A. Van Hilten a 'Croat.'

These two accounts are history. If you want to apologize for perpetrators of genocide and spew ethnic slurs at people who call you on it, there are some blogs around that will let you. LGF isn't one.

Thank you for making LGF the way it is: One of the most rational, self-respecting, reliable, and sane blog I have ever read. Over years of reading LGf, I have never seen a single comment like the above being welcomed or tolerated. What a difficult task to keep one of the most popular blogs on-line "clean" and free from such comments.
even major news agencies have miserably failed in controlling their comments section and keeping it free from such offensive language.

The thing about LGF is that whenever one comes here, he always finds more than 10 reasons to come visit the site again.
Thank you Charles
