I've listened through several times now. Just starting to settle on some favorite tracks, and the prelude tracks just sound incredible.

Later, time to hit the road and generate some CO2. (Somebody has got to hold off the coming Ice Age.)

Charles, do you play your guitar much these days?

18 Mars Needs Neocons  Tue, Jul 22, 2008 6:43:17pm

Cool an open. I have some ideas I want to run by here.

I finally finished the book I've been working on reading for the last month, and have come to some conclusions based on history. Zombie has actually given me a lot of evidence advancing these ideas. (With the pics on his/her site.)

Historically the left has always managed to shoot itself in the foot by having too many different groups that want too many different things. This causes fragmentation and then the most radical element winds up pushing themselves to the forefront of the group and turns the country against them because they now have the inmates running the asylum.

Anytime the left has managed to front a seemingly rational person (in modern times) that person winds up screwing things up McGovern (before the election), Carter (after the first election before the second).

So the way this is going we are going to see the marginalization of the anti-war left movement as the freaks take over and then Obama will screw things up royally either before or after the election. (All I can figure is that Billy-Jeff was an aberration).

This will then mean a temporary disappearance of the left, until their next version in a few years.

The one thing that this history has shown me is that the left operates in cycles and remakes themselves every few years, goes crazy, then implodes. And each version thinks they have completely original ideas, that wind up identical to the ideas of the previous version.

Sorry for the long post, back to your regular program

oddly i did see a bumper sticker on a beat up white van going down 5th ave.
it was a sticker on the back window.
it said: W'04
there was an american flag in the back ground.
i laughed w/ delight.

And, can you play this type of music. You are obviously fond of this genre (impossible to play stuff).

27 Bloodnok  Tue, Jul 22, 2008 6:55:30pm

I gave up on growing my fingernails out to fingerpick (I loved doing it too). You really do become obsessive about breaking one (and I'm a guy) and it plays merry hell with a job where you are in front of a keyboard all day.

28 nyc redneck  Tue, Jul 22, 2008 6:55:54pm

i listened to mark levin on the drive in. he played an earlier clip of b.o. maligning the troops and saying they were killing women and children in afghanistan.
now he wants to direct 10,000 more troops there.
he also called for de-funding the effort in afghanistan in may of 2007.
he seems a bit confused.

29 Mars Needs Neocons  Tue, Jul 22, 2008 6:55:58pm

Also a very scary aside. Tonight in the same book I finally read all about Tom Hayden and Bill Ayers. The Obamessiah is connected with some real psycho bastards.

I already knew some about this, but reading the history of the SDS and Weathermen really laid it out in a very disturbing way.

30 cincinnati_kid37  Tue, Jul 22, 2008 6:57:10pm

Can't say I cared much for it. The picking was a constant repetitive sequence or seemed like it and the melody was kinda boring. It's not that hard to play like this. Maybe he's got a better tune(s).

Noticed he either grows his fingernails like Chet Atkins did to use as finger picks or he glues them on.

I may have been banned in Pakistan, but -- they love me in Bangladesh! I just received this email at the Mo Archive:

----------------------------

From: Agni Adhirurho
To: Mohammed Image Archive
Subject: Thank you

I thank you very much for this attractive and true pictures. Really you have done a great job. I love it and share it with my blog readers. I have post about your site in my blog. My blog is in Bangla language. So you might not understand anything. The link is
[Link: agnisetu.blogspot.com...]

I also want to get permission from you to make a new site using the pictures from your site [Link: www.zombietime.com...]

Thank you again

I checked out the guy's site and -- lo and behold -- he's an anti-jihadist! (Judging from the sidebar, at least.) In Bangladesh, of all places.

I think I'll give him permission to translate the Mohammed Image Archive into Banlga. There's already several other foreign language versions (Russian, Arabic, Spanish, etc.) -- so why not!

Obama horrifies me more and more every day. Still, the nice thing about being a preparedness enthusiast is that you're retty prared for anything.

Irony alert....
Congressmen make emergency landing

A Continental Airlines flight carrying former presidential candidate Ron Paul and six other members of Congress to Washington, D.C., made an emergency landing in New Orleans on Tuesday after a loss in cabin pressure.

The seven congressmen, all from Texas, were trying to get back in time for a Tuesday night vote on an aviation safety bill when the flight landed without incident, a spokesman for one of the representatives said. No injuries were reported among the 128 crew and passengers.

Here is the thing Ayers & Hayden are unrepentant.
The niominee of a major party gravitates to these people.
In one of his books he says that he is always attracted to Marxists.
This would be an anti Amerrican, American President. WTF!

Exactly my point. That's why I was disappointing to find out the most recent expose on Obam basically says he's not a communist trojan horse.

Everything I've found on his past says he actually is. He's known these people forever. That had to have an affect.

He's dynamic and good for the economy. He's a conservative to balance out McCain's lack of bona fides in that department. It would be an ideal choice.

My fear is that Obama picks Katherine Sibelius. She's a governor, so she has executive experience. She's a white woman, without Hillary's baggage. She's a Catholic (not a terribly observant one, but a Catholic) and she's not an elitist. It would be a great choice, which is why I really, really hope he doesn't choose her.

Starbucks Democrats

This is where coffee preferences come in. Among voters whose voting choice is not based on identity politics, Mr Obama's supporters are the latte liberals. These are the people for whom Starbucks, with its $5 cups of coffee and fancy bakeries, is not just a consumer choice but a lifestyle. They not only have the money. They share the values.

They live by all those little quotes on the side of Starbucks cups about community service and global warming. They embrace the Obama candidacy because to them he transcends traditional class and economic divides. He is a transformative political figure - potentially the first black man to be president - and is seen as the one to revive America's faith in itself and restore America's status in the world. For these voters the defining emotion is hope

I look at it this way. We ended up for the most with the best of each of the men.

The Adams - Jefferson change of administrations was the most important. We handed over the reigns of power to the opposition without violence. And continued for 232 years.

CHICAGO (AFP) - Blame the DJ: loud bar music makes people drink more and drink faster, a study released Friday has found.

"Previous research had shown that fast music can cause fast drinking, and that music versus no music can cause a person to spend more time in a bar," said Nicolas Gueguen, a professor of behavioral sciences at the Universite de Bretagne-Sud in France, and corresponding author for the study.

The genius of separation of powers. Each branch is limited, and the lack of absolute power means we can live with losing an election. In sense even the presidency is not for "all the marbles."

With this election and the balance of the Court in the balance it's more important than most.

Gloryosky.

The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management today published proposed regulations to establish a commercial oil shale program that could result in the addition of up to 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil from lands in the western United States.

In keeping with the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920, the BLM is proposing regulations that would provide the critical “rules of the road” on which private investors will rely in determining whether to make future financial commitments to prospective oil shale projects.

“As Americans pay more than $4 for a gallon of gasoline and watch energy prices continue to climb higher and higher, we need to be doing more to develop our own energy here at home, through resources such as oil shale,” said Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne. “Instead, I find it ironic that we are asking countries halfway around the world to produce more for us.”

The oil market is going to be interesting over the next month or so, I suspect. Bring popcorn.

If those are the choices, go with Palin. Helps with the female vote (especially anyone who may still be a bit bitter over the Hillary actions) and Palin is (don't take it wrong) a 'man's woman'. A plain-spoken woman of action. A hunter, mother, and...well, let's say it...easy on the eyes.

Bobby Jindal has the potential to be a Republican rock star. If he actually can clean up that Louisiana swamp that man can write his own ticket. But as yet he lacks proven experience leading folks down that difficult road.

Of the two, I'd prefer Palin. She has been very vocal about opening up ANWR. Michael Steele would also be a good choice, if he'd take the job.

Jindal should not have signed that ID bill. I'd let him sit in Baton Rouge for a term or two if it was my decision to make.

re: #278 NY Nana

Do not believe for a second that there was any mistranslation when Maliki blurted out to the German magazine Der Spiegel recently that Obama’s withdrawal timetable for U.S. combat troops from Iraq — 16 months after the next U.S. president is sworn in — “could be suitable.” Maliki was quite specific: “Who wants to exit in a quicker way has a better assessment of the situation in Iraq.”

He was speaking a deep truth: the modicum of stability produced by the surge has changed the political dynamics of the Iraq story — not irreversibly yet, not as much as necessary yet, but enough to have important ramifications. U.S. officials in Iraq tell me that the success of the Sunni tribes in beating back Al Qaeda in their regions and the success of the mainstream Shiites in beating back Moktada al-Sadr’s militia and other pro-Iranian elements in Baghdad and Basra has Iraqis looking at themselves differently and therefore at America’s presence in Iraq differently.

Obama stinks.

I think Sarah Palin might be a good choice......
especially if McCain starts pushing energy issues.
She'll get a reasonable chunk of the soft Hillary vote, too.
And it would add a little pizzazzz to the ticket.

But I think McCain will look for a Midwesterner.
Maybe Pawlenty.

I don't think he should choose a VP until Obama does.

I think we'll be out, except for a couple of big horkin' bases, in 16 months if things keep going the way they are. Obama's new 16-month timetable is a lot different from his surrender and come home immediately position. The Messiah has a rare gift for coming down firmly on both sides of the issue.

NY NANA,

The problem with Arnold is that he's a politician, and he's stuck in a mire of political mess, dealing with all the damned unions, bureaucrats, and elitests of one kind of another running the show in Sacramento. I think a lot of his attitudes reflect democrat drivel because that's essentially what his environment is.

I haven't seen you in dog's years! Everything OK?

I am voting for McCain. He is far from perfect, but there is nothing on this earth that could make me vote for Hussein, nothing. To me? He is the Manchurian candidate.

He is an enemy to all, regardless of race or religion. And he would destroy this country in short order. He is an empty suit. And that he is in Israel, where he wants to divide Jerusalem? I feel sorry for Israel.

We cannot afford even one day in office for Hussein..McCain is it, and with a good VP, and John Bolton as Sec. of State? We will be able to beat anything and anyone who thinks they can get us.

With Hussein? I don't even want to think about it. He will burn out, I think, very soon.

Yes, I hate this voting for the lesser of two evils garbage, McCain has no clue whatsoever when it comes to economics, no politician did, not even Reagan, but Reagan admitted it, and just followed along with people who had a clue, like Dr. Laffer and good inspiration from Milton Friedman.

I like Sarah Palin...the only up side to McCain naming his VP candidate while Hussein is swanning around countries he can't even name is that it will draw attention away from all-Hussein 24/7, and also, if he makes the right pick, campaigning together would, I think, be an asset for McCain. I had forgotten about her! Bet she makes terrific latkes for Hanukkah.

322 razorbacker  Tue, Jul 22, 2008 9:33:11pm

Jindal is not my governor. But compare his accomplishments with...well, Obama.

Jindal's first government job.

It would seem there were many more qualified applicants than Bobby Jindal to head Louisiana's largest state agency. After all, his credentials were bare: only 24, with a Brown degree in public policy and biology and a few well-written papers on health care under his belt.

But Louisiana Gov. Mike Foster saw something in Jindal, and hired him as secretary of the state's Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), assigning him the daunting task of overhauling a nearly bankrupt agency with 12,000 employees and hundreds of facilities.

In just two years, and to the surprise of those who first doubted his qualifications, Jindal turned the department's $400-million Medicaid deficit into a program with surpluses of more than $200 million. He slashed the budget, collected overpayments made to hospitals and implemented cost-saving measures while maintaining services.

Jindal graduated from Brown in December 1991, then combined his academic interests in both public policy and biology as a Rhodes Scholar and authored several articles on health care, an experience that helped direct his career. "It opened up a lot of opportunities and interests," he said.

Instead of pursing advanced degrees, Jindal decided to go after those opportunities. He turned down Harvard and Yale law and medical schools in order to return to Louisiana in January 1996 to head the DHH.

He's had a couple of other gigs, too.

He went on to become the executive director of the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare.

Then at age 28, he became president of the University of Louisiana System. And after that, he was appointed by President George W. Bush as assistant secretary for planning and evaluation for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

And he knows how to talk the talk.

My allegiance to the Republican Party has everything to do with the core values at the center of the party. The Republican Party believes in the value and freedom of all individuals. It believes in less government in our lives, not more. It stands for lower taxes, less spending and less government control of our health care systems. The Republican Party also represents the conservative values that Louisiana residents find most important in their lives. The Republican Party wants every individual to work toward and achieve his own American Dream.

Social conservatives think he's kinda special.

Unlike McCain, Jindal’s right-wing record — opposing stem cell research and abortion without exception, supporting intelligent design in public schools — has earned him the allegiance of social conservatives. Jindal, who converted to Catholicism as a teenager, has also impressed evangelicals with his religious testimonies — and raised some eyebrows with a 1994 article on his role in the hours-long exorcism of a close friend.

But to be honest, some bloggers don't like him much;)

I hate Jindal. He’s thrown all my pals in jail, ended all the good old scams, made folks like me work instead of having no show jobs. Jindal’s an absolute menace.

The ID nonveto is a mark against him. And I'm not too wild about someone who has participated in an exorcism. But if he can actually clean up Louisiana, he'll have done something no one else has ever come close to doing. Time will tell.

I don't think he will be able to. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Yes, yes, I agree.

I didn't like Romney because he seemed out of the blue; with McCain I knew what I was getting; some moron, but at least a few democrats like him (of course they're all gathered around the Obama train now in respect for the Democrat's mob mentality) and America likes a more centrist president.

I think Romney would make a superb VP, especially considering if McCain wins the ticket, we get an interesting fellow. I just don't think Romney could win it by himself.
