Video: Al Jazeera Throws Party for Child Killer

Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 9:07:22 am PDT

This depraved show alone should prevent Al Jazeera from ever being picked up by US cable channels, as the Arab “news network” throws a birthday party for released terrorist Samir Kuntar—who shot a child’s father in front of her, then bashed the little girl’s brains out with a rifle butt.

It’s almost unbelievable. They’ve let their thirst for blood and lack of decency trump even their political ends this time.

Following are excerpts from a birthday party organized by Al-Jazeera TV for released Lebanese terrorist Samir Al-Quntar. Al-Jazeera TV aired this segment on July 19, 2008

Interviewer: Brother Samir, we would like to celebrate your birthday with you. You deserve even more than this. I think that 11,000 prisoners – if they can see this program now – are celebrating your birthday with you. Happy birthday, brother Samir.

Samir Al-Quntar: Thank you.

Interviewer: Go ahead... There is a picture here... If the camera can show this... Let’s cut it... Does the camera show this clearly or not? We have a picture here... This is the sword of the Arabs, Samir. Don’t cut the picture, cut on the side.

Samir Al-Quntar: Here’s Abu Qassam [Marwan Barghouti].

Interviewer: Marwan is here.

Samir Al-Quntar: Abu Qassam is here with Ahmad Sa’dat. That’s our prison warden...

Interviewer: This one?

Samir Al-Quntar: Yes.

Interviewer: What is the warden’s name?

Samir Al-Quntar: His name is... Never mind.

Interviewer: This is when you were released. Here you are with Wafiq Safa.

Samir Al-Quntar: Yes, this is Wafiq Safa. This is the most beautiful picture – with Hassan Nasrallah. This is the most beautiful picture. There cannot be anything more beautiful. Me and the secretary-general – the most beautiful picture of me ever taken.

45 MJ  Wed, Jul 23, 2008 9:26:08am

For the second time this year, Israel has decided to act against Al-Jazeera, after the influential TV station held a party for released Lebanese child-killer Samir Kuntar, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

The Government Press Office said it would impose sanctions on Al-Jazeera and demand an explanation from the station.

Al-Jazeera's bureau chief in Beirut, Ghassan bin Jeddo, has long been known for his close ties to Hizbullah.

Kuntar, for his part, thanked Jeddo and Al-Jazeera for supporting him and other prisoners in Israeli jails and for waging a campaign to bring about their release.

Daniel Seaman, director of the GPO, expressed outrage over the event.

As I see it the problem goes beyond Al Jezerra & this depraved animal.
The deeper problem is that this individual is widely admired by Muslims.
On 9/11 it was not just Osama & the hijackers. There were street celebrations all over Islam including in the U.S.
The dfferences in values are profound.

Anyone seen the movie "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World"? It ended up being more about Hindus and India than about Islam, really.

My favorite part was when Al Jazeera contacted Albert Brooks about being in a comedy show... He refused after his Al Jazeera hosts revealed that the show was going to be a "comedy" called "That Darn Jew!", in which he was to play a goofy stupid cartoon-like doofus Arab stereotype Jew...

The movie basically concluded that there IS no comedy in the Muslim world; except in the isolated backwoods in Pakistan.

I tried to watch it, and found it pretty tiresome. The Muslim population in the areas of India where he was is very low, and I suppose that's where he needed to set the film, since any official islamic republics would likely not let him in. Mostly, Indians are quite gracious and the republic, especially the south, is very conducive to filmmaking.

As you mentioned, it ended up mainly being about hindus, mainly since there were so many of them compared to Muslims so that's who he had the most contact with.

The part you describe was the only part where I laughed.

The biggest difference between Judaism/Christianity and Islam may be that in the former divine justice means that God decides and punishes while each individual is responsible for their own choices. In Islam God needs human help so when his laws are broken the offender must be punished on Earth. There have been obvious cases of people in the West who were so arrogant as to claim they were acting for God but there is no consensus supporting that position as based on religious necessity. Instead in the West judgement and punishment in this world are a matter of temporal law and spiritual judgement is left to God. In Islam there is no secular or temporal law separate from the sacred and offenses against divine law demand punishment here. Each Muslim is commanded to not only judge their own conduct but that of every other human. In Judaism/Christianity the works of God are Life and as such to precious for any person to pass judgement over without clear cause. In Islam Life indeed the whole of Creation is but a transitory fancy that may be revoked by a God that is beyond comprehension. Humans therefore can only slavishly seek to enforce all his laws here on earth, even when it means imposing a flawed human perception to impose violence on others.

I weep for Israel after this one. By swapping dead captives for a live one, they've just created an incentive for Hizb'Allah to kill captured Israelis.

I don't think Israel currently has a death penalty, but this sort of thing is a good reason why it should be applied to terrorists.

I can see why Hizb'Allah is elated by this swap, but IMO just the fact that they were holding cadavers hostage proves they're scum.

Jackson is a tool of the highest order.

It was known that the two Israeli soldiers were severely wounded at the time of their capture (explaining to a large extent why they were actually captured). If I remember right, one was shot in the gut.

It was also widely assumed by all in the know, that they were dead, though obviously, with Hizb'Allah *NOT* being a signatory to the Geneva convention, it didn't provide corroborating information.

I find this whole episode to be sorry beyond belief. The Israeli gov't should be ashamed of itself for this one.

Whether or not Israel should have had Kuntar executed via its legal process (ie the death penalty) is a legitimate question, and a whole other debate.

But the answer to that question should have nothing to do with trading him for Israeli prisoners, live or dead.

Israel simply shouldn't sink to the immoral level of its foes. Hizb'allah has no problem kidnapping people, murdering civilians (including its own), refusing to follow the rules of war, etc.

What Israel needed to do here was already well-established by decades of policy: you don't swap prisoners with "blood on their hands".

re: #154 Ford_Prefect

Arabs & Circumcision

...the important women in the very young Arab boy's life would stimulate his penis to sooth him or merely to amuse themselves. This has the effect of establishing from an early age that an Arab boy, to a much greater extent than in the West, has no control over his own sexual excitement. His excitement arises from external sources out of his control. Western men may joke about their excitement and lust being forced upon them by a beautiful woman but for Arab men it is much closer to a realistic depiction of their experience.

While it may seem counter-intiuitive, the practice of circumcision in the Arab world exascerbates this trend.

Various sources, including first person accounts and personal communications, describe circumcision in Arab nations as typically public occasions and typically occurring either at the height of the Oedipal phase or any time thereafter up until puberty. Commentators point out that while it has been religiously sanctioned to circumcise at 7 days or at any age before puberty, most accounts place the rite during the Oedipal or latency phase. Circumcision performed during infancy has certain significant advantages for psychosexual development, features that distinguish it in important ways from circumcision performed at later ages.

First of all, circumcision is an extremely painful experience. At 7 or 8 days of age (8 days being the time for circumcision in the Jewish religion) physical sensations in the infant have not yet become localized. Pain produces bodily reactions, certainly, but it is diffuse and pre-symbolic. In other words, the experience of a painful procedure is non-specific. Only later, when the child learns about the rite of circumcision does it take on symbolic meaning. Vulnerable boys may incorporate their childish knowledge of circumcision within their fantasy life, enhancing fears of genital damage and loss, but it is a symbolic fear. For boys who undergo circumcision at a later age, they have already developed the capacity to understand the act as a concrete genital assault that concretizes whatever pre-existing anxiety they already contain. The pain and the shock of the pain imprint genital vulnerability upon the young mind in ways that a symbolic representation cannot. The memory is not merely a construct of partial fantasied images and language but is an explicit struture within memory (though in time, the affective component of the experience can be and usually is repressed and placed firmly in the unconscious.) It is equivalent to the difference between the common place fantasies of sexual seduction that many children develop when trying to comprehend adult sexuality and the traumatic effect of actual sexual relations between a child and an adult.

One other point to remember in terms of the painful nature of circumcision. Men who have been circumcised will unhappily report that sexual excitement, ie obtaining an erection, which stretches the skin of the penis, is extremely painful and the pain persists until full healing has occurred. Young boys have even less control over their erections than adult men and, as has been pointed out, they experience their excitement as arriving from external sources and being more than usual out of their control. The result is that sexual excitement is indelibly fused with anxiety and pain.

So, there's no chance the Mossad hid a James Bond style locator beacon up his ass to "find" him at a later date? Perhaps when he's partying with buddies? They can do it to my dog. So why not this dog?

I wish. And it should include a listening device, so they can listen in on all the plans being made, and stop the attacks.
Until his buddies suspect Kuntar of being a double agent and kill him.

After 9/11 Osama bin Ladin told us what creates martyrs and terrorists.

Using that "white horse" analogy he just said a simple truth that success breeds success and brings joiners.

In the past four years- even while gaining some control in Iraq- on every front, Israel, the US, the West, has given the enemy reason to believe their path will lead to success.

That hope recruits martyrs and terrorists.

Shehada was killed in an Israel Air Force strike in July 2002, shortly before his plans to send a truck loaded with 600 kilograms of explosives to a Jewish celebration in Gush Katif were to be implemented. Slated to succeed Sheikh Ahmed Yassin as leader of Hamas, Shehada was responsible for hundreds of attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers, and the deaths of dozens of Israelis.

Good. Because my son is driving me absolutely crazy. He got two wisdom teeth cut out, and he is so sensitive to pain that even the novacaine wearing off is bugging him. I've given him vicodin, but of course it's taking time to kick in and he doesn't understand why it won't stop hurting now.

Normally I'm patient and I can handle this, but I'm running on little sleep, which makes it much tougher.

Chicago - Groundhog Day star Bill Murray has agreed to parachute from a plane as part of a special appearance at the Chicago Air and Water Show in August.

A spokeswoman for the Mayor's office of special events says the 57-year-old actor is jumping on behalf of USO of Illinois. The USO groups are non-profit organisations that provide recreation, counselling and other services to US troops.

Murray, a Chicago native, will tandem jump with the Golden Knights skydiving team onto North Avenue Beach on August 15.

Murray received an Oscar nomination for his role in Lost in Translation. His screen credits also include the Ghostbusters movies and Caddyshack.

Other celebrities with Chicago roots who are participating include Gary Sinise. He is scheduled to perform with his band Lt. Dan Band.

Can you imagine raising a child there and not believing that crap?

I can imagine shitting my pants at the very prospect of my very neighbours discovering that I didn't believe in the same murderous ideology they did.

It's the kids I really feel for. Little blank slates and all that's being written on them is hatred.

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, “Speak to us of Children.”

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

I wasn't advocating mass deportation - I said Ban Muslim Immigration - and deport Muslim non-nationals - civilised countries have no obligation to allow to remain.

And just how many Muslim non-nationals do you think are in this country?

20,maybe 30? What you are suggesting IS a mass deportation of a particular group of people based upon their race and potential religious beliefs.

Okay, since we're talking Obama:

I cannot believe that the FEC hasn't hit him with a huge fine for each day that he's overseas campaigning--and everyone knows it's campaigning, even if he says it's not.

Does anyone know what the rules are regarding campaigning outside the US or its territories?

Israel cuts Al-Jazeera ties

Israel's government press office cut all contacts with pan-Arab Al-Jazeera television on Wednesday, accusing its Beirut bureau of throwing a party for a freed Lebanese militant who committed a triple murder in Israel.

Press office director Daniel Seaman told AFP the decision was taken following reports that the bureau hosted a party for Samir Kantar, who killed three Israelis, including a little girl, in a 1979 attack and was returned to Lebanon last week in a prisoner swap with the Hezbollah militia.

"We received information that they had a party in their offices in Beirut in the presence of Samir Kantar. They hailed him, praised him," Seaman said.

"The fact that an organisation that considers itself professional is celebrating the murderer of a child is disgusting. It is despicable."

/did Samir get a gift from Obama?

I'm sorry, but I don't support unilaterally shutting down houses of worship across the country because a very small percentage of them may cause problems. Go after the offenders, but don't criminalize the entire group.

And, no, I don't suppose Muslims as a whole, especially because so few of them have publicly condemned what the extremist have done. However, that doesn't mean we should shut them toss their right to believe what they want out the window.

Yes, they should be allowed complete freedom to believe what they want. Until they suddenly reform themselves or otherwise get in front of this Jihad thing however, they should be treated like the pariah that they are. And make no mistake, Islam in its current manifestation is a pariah. I have no more respect for Islam at this time than I do the KKK or Nazi organizations. It's up to them.

I agree. I suspect this is the first presidential election that a candidate with the backing of US media is trying to win overseas. Sort of a "heck look, these guys like me, so I must be good as the next president, cause all these foreign countries like me" approach.

Kind of like a national TV news channel trying to influence a presidential election with fake documents.

The media will try anything they think they can get away with to put Obama in the white house. And I fear this time it might work.

maybe you could go ahead and call. Trouble about pain meds is that they take a while to kick in, and he's already uncomfortable with a dose on board. You could try using ibuprofen 2 hours after a vicoden dose to help. (You probably know, but don't do the stagger trick with acetaminophen---the vicodin is a combo med containing acetaminophen.)

Do we need to be selective? You bet!

I know you can't really do all those things on my list from a practical perspective. But i believe in order to fight the ideological (and demographic) warfare that Muslims are waging against us, we should:

- Stem the flow of Muslim Immigration
- Disengage where we can
- Disinvest where we can
- Deport individuals we have no legal obligation to keep
- Strive much harder to find alternatives to petroleum and petrochemicals where we can
- Root out the corrosive influence of multiculturalism

This has much more urgency in places outside the US, i.e. Europe, where for example some cities in the Netherlands are at or approaching double-digit-percentage Muslim populations - a demographic time bomb.

A survival strategy is needed - and this is my (aspirational) idea for the basis of one.

I did indeed call for the deportation of non-nationals. You somehow think this fails to discriminate against naturalised citizens? Then you need to re-examine your understanding of what a 'non-national' means.

I say again - I would NEVER advocate the deportation or repatriation from a country of one of its citizens - wherever their origin. I don't see how I can make that statement any clearer.

I think they made the right call in that case. Mosques were used as training centers, among other things

And do what the Chinese have done. Shut down their mosques.

re: #413 cutestguy

Jail everyone involved in a mosque used as a terrorist training camp. That is an individual case, not a blanket statement.

Did I make sense?

These were your original quotes. That sounds to me like you were advocating shutting down all mosques.

would ice cream help? It won't kill the pain, but maybe numb his gums a bit... and it might distract him from the pain

Ice cream has already been served. He thought that sitting in his wheelchair would be a more comfortable position for his throat. I don't see how or why, but if he thinks it will help, I'm not going to argue.

So he's sitting up and starting on the ice cream.

vx,
maybe you could go ahead and call.

Maybe doc would let you give him an extra dose or partial dose now to get him comfortable.

right; knew about the acetaminophen in the vicodin. Waiting to see if the ice cream helps for now.

Good luck. I have no idea how to deal with your particular situation, just trying to guess at ideas. My prayers are for you & yours.
