12 karmic_inquisitor  Thu, Jul 24, 2008 9:11:28pm

Why do medical students prefer doing experiments on lawyers than on white mice?

3 reasons:

1) white mice are cute.

2) lawyers are in greater supply.

3) there are some things that you can't pay a mouse to do.

Does anyone have a good joke?

Two bowling teams, one of all blondes and one of all brunettes, charter a double-decker bus for a weekend trip.

The brunette team rode on the bottom of the bus, and the blonde team rode on the top level.

The brunette team down below really whooped it up, having a great time, when one of them realized she hadn't heard anything from the blondes upstairs.

She decided to go up and investigate.

When the brunette reached the top, she found all the blondes in fear, staring straight ahead at the road, clutching the seats in front of them with white knuckles.

the brunette asked, "What the heck's going on up here? We're having a great time downstairs!"

One of the blondes looked up at her, swallowed hard and whispered...

"YEAH, BUT YOU'VE GOT A DRIVER!"

Great show, indeed. Saw them in Concord, CA just a few weeks ago. Then just saw The Police at the same venue. Rush played for 2 1/2 hours (not including intermission), and they rocked as hard as they ever have. I swear Geddy's voice is actually getting better with age. The Police played 90 minuted with no intermission. They're playing was decent, but their engineers are deaf. Just a wall of distorted noise.

A teacher in Elmira, New York, who is an Obama supporter, asked her 4th grade class,"How many of you are Obama fans?"

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands, except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he decided to be different?

Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."

The teacher asked, "Why aren't you an Obama fan?"

Johnny said, "Because I'm a Conservative ."

The teacher asked him why he's a Conservative .

Little Johnny answered, " Well, my Mom's a Conservative and my Dad's a Conservative, so I'm a Conservative."

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, "That would make me an Obama fan."

Hi all, my take on the obamapolooza tour is that it's a bust.I was reading the live "messiah" speech earlier on LGF, and I think it was a loser. Of course I had to start early on my drinking because it was so infuriating, but that of course couldn't possibly have clouded my judgment....hiccup... Just kidding. When the" Sermon on the Mount" was happening I was babysitting my two Grandchildren. Doesn't mean I didn't want to drink, but I had to maintain some sort of responsibility.

I disagree. If they were going to break up, it would have been after Neil's personal tragedies. When I heard Vapor Trails I almost wished they would break up. But then they proved to everyone that they still know how to record music just for fun (Feedback), do tours just for fun (R30), and make a really great album still (Snakes & Arrows). If anything, they're just getting their stride back. Alex's playing has never been tighter. Neil is as perfect as ever. Geddy is still a bass player without equal.

What do you think of the new Quinnipiac polls (hope I spelled this correctly) of swing states?

Interesting to say the least.

Quinnipac does well in the 538 pollster ratings -

[Link: www.fivethirtyeight.com...]

I am starting to think that the "likely voter model skew" for this year that pollsters adopted overestimate Obama's demographic (historically unreliable young voters). They have based the skew on party id, but the older voters who left "Republican" have gone to independent and are very skeptical (and more likely to vote).

I also think that the skew should be different for different regions.

If Obama gets behind McCain by 7 points nationally, his followers will bail. The party will be over and they will concentrate on other stuff (like buying gas). After that he won't recover. JMO.

Last time I had a flat tire, I pulled my truck into one of those side-of-the-road gas stations. The attendant walks out, looks at my truck, looks at me, and I SWEAR he said, "Tire go flat?" I couldn't resist. I said, "Nope. I was driving around and those other three just swelled right up on me. Here's your sign."

Somebody tell him to ask John F*ing Kerry how well those European endorsements worked out.

Americans want an American Citizen as President, not some utopian dreamer that claims to be a World Citizen. If there is one person that is expected to put America First, it is the President of the United States of America.

Americans know that Europe loves a weak America, and that is why, by and large, they hated Reagan.

Sometimes I have to step back and question my own involvement in the polls. I want so badly for McCain to win that my tendency is to discount polls from D-sources, like PPP, or university-based polls, like Quin.

But this university poll looked positive for McCain. Winning in COlorado and closing in in MI, MN and WI ... it is almost too good to be true.

And it is only July.

The model skew is way off -- I agree. They should base it, in states with declared and public registration information, on the actual registrations by party.

I don't pay for premium, but Rasmussen seems all over the place this year. Any insight into his fundamentals?

And the choices... Spindrift? The Way the Wind Blows? The Larger Bowl? I would have traded all three songs for Faithless, but that's just me.

Got one for you. ;) And it came from a member of the same Fenway Nation we belong to!

Senator BARACK OBAMA was invited to address a major gathering of the Northeast American Indian Tribes two weeks ago in upstate New York .

HE spoke for almost an hour on HIS future plans for increasing every Native Americans present standard of living, should HE one day become the President. HE referred to his career as a Senator, how he had signed 'YES' for every Indian issue that came to his desk for approval.

Although the Senator was vague on the details of his plan, he seemed most enthusiastic about his future ideas for helping his 'red sisters and brothers'.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented the Senator with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name - Walking Eagle. The proud Senator then depart ed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds.

A news reporter later inquired to the group of leaders of how they came to select the new name they had given to the Senator. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

No idea why Rasmussen is oscillating so much.

He has a solid track record. I can only assume it reflects real uncertainty. A lot of people want Obama to win because they think it will cleanse the nation of some past sins.

As they tune into what he is saying, the doubts circulate.

The Florida flip seemed weird at first to me, but I am speculating that the Jewish vote is very undecided on the guy and the latest poll (which probably overstated the move) still reflects a lot of Jewish voters accepting Obama over Hillary and returning to a "Vote Democrat" mindset.

Pure speculation.

But this is all going to play out with regional shifts before it sets up and hardens in October.

After stepping around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door, a man walked into H&J Leather & Firearms intent on robbing the store.

The shop was full of customers and a uniformed officer was standing at the counter. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up! and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, and several customers also drew their guns and fired. The robber was pronounc ed dead at the scene by Paramedics.

Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt.

(This is a joke my rabbi liked)

In the old days, two young rabbis are on a train heading to a small town for a shidduch (arranged marriage). The one young rabbi says to the other, "I'm not ready to get married." He gets off the train at the next stop and leaves our story.

When the train pulls into the small town, there are two potential mother in laws waiting, but only one young rabbi.

The two mothers start to argue over whose daughter will get the young man. The argument gets heated. They take the problem to the sage old rabbi of the town.

The old rabbi strokes his long bushy gray beard and and peers over his little round glasses in deep thought. Finally, he slaps his hand on his desk and shouts:

"We will do what King Solomon did! Cut him in half!"

The first potential mother in law says:

"That's horrible! He's such a nice young man! How can we do such a thing!"

The second potential mother in law grins evilly and sneers:

"Great idea. Cut him in half."

The old rabbi points at her and says:

"That is the real mother in law!"

The Jewish voter phenomenon fascinates. I've been wondering when they'll flip to the Rep side, only because it seems rational for a sincere Jew (not the secular Jews) to vote Republican. I think this may be the election that pulls Judaism into secular and practicing contingents with the secular voting D and religious voting R. We'll see.

re: #90 ggt

That's what happens when you drive you don't know how to drive a stick shift.

I had my most decisive argument win ever due to someone popping their clutch and getting tapped by the following car that wasn't paying attention.

My friend had just purchased this car, and did not know how to drive a stick. (Silly girl) I had managed to show her quickly how to handle it, and talk her through some simple stuff on streets with no traffic, and she was getting the hang of it. We were at a stop sign and making a right turn to a somewhat busy street. Someone pulls up behind us and she goes to make the turn, pops the clutch and stalls. The guy behind us, looking for oncoming traffic doesn't notice we stopped until he is right on top of us, then taps the back bumper when he can't stop in time. I get out to talk with him and he starts carrying on about how my friend shouldn't be driving if she doesn't know how. I return that he should pay attention to what is in front of him. He counters by saying that she did something unexpected and he is a Reserve Deputy for the San Diego County Sheriff's office and he knows about driving safely, at which point I managed to shut him down completely with five words, "Then you should've known better."

One thing I have noticed:

The Democrats keep pinning their hopes on increasing turnout among 18-24-year-olds. They keep seeking some "magic bullet" solution that will cause all of those youth to show up at the polls and vote Democrat, and I don't think there is one.

The big problem for the Democrats is that 18-24-year-olds who lean left are mostly in college. The general election takes place in a different academic year from the primaries, and a big part of getting 18-24-year-olds to the polls involves personal ties. A college student can find him-or-herself in a very different situation in the fall than they were that previous spring. A new academic year can mean different living arrangements. Progress in ones academic career means the coursework only gets harder. Scholarships can be won or lost. You can make new friends or lose contact with old friends. Also, between academic years, most college students go home, and get deprogrammed a bit. November may not come late enough for the re-programming to take place.

In short, life happens to 18-24-year-old voters, and only the seriously political among them actually turn out and vote. The "right" candidate can't motivate the apathetic and overburdened youth.

Ahh, haven't really listened that song in awhile. Good one. They have such a huge catalog, it's easy to forget/lose track of how many good songs they have. 33 years worth of material. And I've only been a fan since about '96-97.

Another thing that keeps the college kids from participating at very high levels in Presidential Elections is that voter registration rules often require that the voter register to vote at least one month prior to the election.

With Presidential Elections in the Early part of November, registration becomes problematic for students starting their fall term. There is plenty of time for them to register so long as they don't procrastinate. Unfortunately (or fortunately), procrastination is one of the first things that kids learn when they attend college.

No, their idea is that local ' standards boards ' could insist on whatever. And you know who usually makes up those boards, at least in large urban areas.
It would probably pass the 1st amendment test, but hopefully it won't get the chance.
They are talking about it, though, and are soo pleased with themselves to have come up with such a clever alternative that can be snuck by more easily.
I'm sure that local conservative talk shows, etc, would raise the red flags and put a halt to it.
Well, probably not in San Francisco.

Joke time;

A small town gets word that flooding is expected and everyone should evacuate. One man is convinced his faith is strong enough and he'll pray to get thru it.

Well, the levee breaks and a jeep pulls up and offers him a ride out of the area. "No thanks, God will take care of me." He waves the jeep good bye and starts praying again.

The water keeps coming and he's forced to get on his roof. An emergency crew comes by in a boat. Once again, he waves it off. "I know God will take care of me."

Finally, its getting bleak. Its obvious the house will be washed away soon. A helicopter comes in low to save the man, but he yells back, "I'll be okay, I have faith God wont let me down."

The water keeps coming and eventually the guy and his whole house get washed away. He shows up in Heaven and finally meets God. Needless to say, he is a bit angry. "God, I thought you would save me. What happened?"

God sighs and answers, "Hey, I sent a jeep, a boat, and a helicopter. What the heck else did you want?"

So Baxtrice, are you a 007 fan or just a Roger Moore fan? I must admit, I'm watching the unrated cut of Casino Royale right now.

I'm a Roger Moore fan who came to be a 007 fan, there used to be this show called "The Saint" in the early sixties, before Val Kilmer totally butchered the character, and I fell in love with Roger Moore. My dad was a big 007 fan, and he introduced me to the bond series when he found out I was a Roger Moore fan. Are you watching the new bond movie? I still need to see that. I've heard good stuff about the new bond.

Struggling In Ohio As The Economy Tightens

The rising cost of food means their money gets them about a third fewer bags of groceries — $100 used to buy about 12 bags of groceries, but now it's more like seven or eight. So they cut back on expensive items like meat, and they don't buy extras like ice cream anymore. Instead, they eat a lot of starches like potatoes and noodles.

Angelica Hernandez (left) and her mother, Gloria Nunez, struggle to make ends meet on a very limited budget.

It's funny, I was never a fan of Roger Moore as 007 until recently, when I started listening to his audio commentaries. It's easy to forget that unlike Connery, Moore had been acting for decades, was older, and for him Bond was just another acting job. I used to think that Moore thought he was too good for the role, but in truth he just never let the role define him like other actors. I've actually come to respect him a great deal for that later in life.

He's also just hysterical. I don't know how anything got done with him around. His ability to tell a joke or funny story aren't legendary, but should be.

Buy a multi-format multi-region DVD player. I find that having one is indispensable. Heck, your current DVD player may already be one with a simple remote code. Check here.

Bookmarked for tomorrow. Thanks, I am now retiring to bed. Goodnight lizards. Oh and Goodnight New Lizards, be good, or the banhammer awaits...

You're fun. Glad you finally got registered. It took me forever, even though I was a long time lurker. LOL I just recently had my first anniversary here on LGF.

I was registering a couple weeks ago, and by the time I finally decided on my nic and clicked to register, it has closed. I was not a happy camper! But then again, it took me about 8 minutes to figure out what to call myself (that wouldn't get be banned while registering, which would have undoubtedly have been a record).

Expensive

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace
expensive.... so, I took her to a gas station.....

and then the fight started....

retiring

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair.
She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.
She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too'

And then the fight started.....

I rear-ended a car this morning. So there we are, alongside the road and slowly the driver gets out of the car.

And you know how you just get s-o-o-o-o stressed out and stuff seems to get funny? Yeah, well, I could NOT believe it ... he was a DWARF!

He storms over to my car, looks up at me and says, "I AM NOT HAPPY!" So, I look down at him and say, "Well, which one are you then?"

.... And that's when the fight started!

And they grow up soooo fast! He is in the front row, sitting on the floor. How they ever got that photo with so many squirmy little ones? I am astounded!

Bli ayin hara, he will be 2 in almost 5 more weeks. Where it went? Not a clue! Our family is not frum, but that Chabad Gan is just wonderful. He hates to go home! He is also at their day camp, most of which is indoors. Daughter and son in law are thrilled with the activities, and how much attention each child is given. 2 weeks ago, they all made individual challas for Shabbat. I have a photo of him with it, and with the one daughter bought in a bakery on the way to Gan...she didn't know they were making them..she went into the kitchen just before we got there for a Shabbat dinner, and he was riding his trike..he had taken each challah, held it like a a hero sandwich, and took a big bite out of it, right in the center, then did it to the other one. The photos are hilarious! She had forgotten to keep them out of sight from this food thief.

Yipes! After 2 AM..g'night, all! Sweet dreams.

We must remember that we're finely tuned to the political environment, much like our cohorts (enemies of freedom) on the left. We see the drama unfold on a daily basis, so we naturally react in accordance to our inputs.

Most people haven't even paid attention to the campaigns, yet.

On a bright note, an acquaintance of mine asked her son what he wanted for his 19th birthday. He asked for and received the book, "Liberal Fascism."

She's a music teacher, and has been involved and employed solely in the arts her entire life.

Most Americans don't buy Obama's bullshit. Once the media lays off their adulation - and they will - clearer heads will prevail.

Just a thought before I turn in, but you sound an awful lot like a disciple of Cognito.

So . . . you're saying that if one says something that is totally unverifiable, you've got huevos? Troofers and all sorts of . . . interesting folks have 'em, too.
Interesting logic.

...you've got huevos...?

Over-easy or scrambled? You want some bacon or sausage with that?

This has got to be some kind of satirical joke, right? This can't be for real.

Satire is correct: Gerrard Baker is no friend of Obama.

Seguro que si !

I just can't believe how the press is shilling for him so openly, so flagrantly. There isn't even a pretense of objectivity anymore.
I pray there will be a backlash among the voters.
