Shocka: Terrorists Guilty of Human Rights Violations

Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 1:36:17 pm PDT

A bulletin from the Department of the Blindingly Obvious: Study: Both Hamas and Fatah guilty of human rights violations.

Palestinian security forces loyal to Hamas and Fatah have both carried out serious human rights abuses over the past year, including arbitrary arrests and torture, according to a report on the bitter power struggle between the groups.

Human Rights Watch, in the report released on Wednesday, cited a pattern of politically motivated arrests, mock executions and severe beatings in detention centers run by Hamas Islamists in the Gaza Strip and President Mahmoud Abbas’s secular Fatah faction in the West Bank.

It faulted the United States and other donors, who have bankrolled Abbas’s Palestinian Authority and Fatah-dominated security forces, for “not paying adequate attention to the systematic abuses by those forces.”

Well, the US is already blamed, so it's a good start:

It faulted the United States and other donors, who have bankrolled Abbas’s Palestinian Authority and Fatah-dominated security forces, for “not paying adequate attention to the systematic abuses by those forces.”

It's never the Palis' fault, you see.

This report is a surprise only to those who do not understand the nature of war and conflict.

You are all misunderstanding... In this case, the US IS to blame. Specifically the enablers who constantly believe that THIIS TIME, the Palestinians will ACTUALLY KEEP an agreement and who keep funding Fatah, Hamas, , etc...

Mostly I blame Democrats but Republicans can be just as much to blame. Bush visited Abbas and never once said: "Hey, look, Abbas, if you would STOP the killing and the terror, THEN we will begin to take you seriously. Until then, SHUT THE F*CK UP!"

The Palestinians are considered perpetual children and blameless victims. Anything they do wrong is always the fault of the grown ups around them.

I would add in seriousness that at least part of HAMAS' relatively recent ascendance since '06 *IS* indirectly the US's fault for encouraging elections in Palestine. HAMAS has always been a violent terrorist organization since its inception.

Encouraging an election between this group of Islamist thugs, and the other group of massively corrupt Marxist thugs (PLO/Fatah) wasn't particularly clever.

But the US is ALSO at fault for cutting off financial assistance (something you'll recall, it actually did about two years ago after HAMAS took over).

You're right it should have read
"Human Rights Watch has determined that the greed of the US, in supplying Fatah with funds for food and energy has caused Hamas to be envious, thereby causing a Palestinian Civil war in which some factions of the two factions have split into more factions which are abusing a few peoples' civil rights. The Palis are not, however abusing the civil rights of the Israelis. Instead they are being persecuted by Israeli check points where they are searched and turned away if they have the least bit of tnt, plastique, or other combustible materials. If the Israelis and the US would shower PALESTINE with dollars or Euros, then the only abuses that could possibly occur would be by the US and Israel.

Whether or not they CLAIM to have a state is largely semantics. They have land with borders, they have funds, they have a population, they have countries lined up in rows waiting to give them diplomatic and other privileges. So What they lack is any sort of effective governance, which is something that really CANNOT be laid at the feet of Israel or anyone else.

As to the fantasy of Israel destroying Gaza (or the West Bank), in a military action, its simply not going to happen, state or no state. Israel lacks the political will to do that, and isn't likely to acquire it anytime soon (if ever).

Israel isn't willing to (Nazi-like) murder or displace several millions of Palestinians, including women and children, no matter how odious their leadership is, nor how much violence they foment against Israeli civiilans.

If Israel had the stones to do that, it would have been done long ago, and there would be no residual Palestinian issue.

Gosh, it just occurred to me. If Barry gets his way and gives away 0.7% of the US GDP to all these failed nations, then we can be blamed for failure anyplace in the world. A veritable bonanza of culpability. Never will we have to blame the weather and overgrazing and civil war for problems with starvation in the world. All they have to do is to blame the US because we gave somebody aid to help them. I will have to go back to my New Testament and redact the Good Samaritan. The correct thing for him to do was to blame the US and then stomp the guy he found to death.

re: #88 Eowyn2

Its real simple. The Palis and every other actual human rights violator wont give groups like Human Rights watch the time of day, let alone listen to them and give them money. In fact, it usually gets them dead. By blaming the US and other civilized countries, they're guaranteed press exposure, politicians sucking up to them and plenty of cash and funding on the lecture circuits.

94 sparrowlake  Wed, Jul 30, 2008 2:09:42pm

The cynical and stupid belief that financial support of one Palestinian faction or another by the West (and indeed by Israel itself) would magically yield peace and an end to terrorist attacks on Israel, is not even partly to blame for the ongoing human rights abuses within Palestinian society. The Palestinians have no apparent political leaders who give a rat's ass about the human rights of Palestinians. All their leaders care about is:
1. Continuation of the struggle to destroy the Zionist entity and to expel or murder its Jewish inhabitants; and,
2. Feathering their own corrupt personal nests with as much money as the leaders can beg, borrow or steal.
Internal human rights of Palestinians are not even on the radar screen.

Only the apologists of the left-wing media could turn a story of human rights abuses from the perpetrators back on to the US. Of course, when we and the rest of the west halted the blood money we were roundly condemned for being mean and starving them to death - even though they had plenty of ready cash to buy weapons in Egypt.

This reminds me of college. And before I go on, I wish to apologize in advance to any and all out there who took the study of sociology seriously. In my day, those of us in Pred-Med, often took what we called "gut" courses ( easy A courses) and often they were Sociology courses. Or as we called them " an intense study into the obvious" . I think the same can be said of this report.

I know I am dating myself, but in my day when I was working on my BA in sociology, we were mostly conservatives and recognized the folly of social engineering. We were there to study society, not plan, not predict. Danial Patrick Moynahan was in the forefront of pointing out the dangers of social engineering.

Of course, then the field was taken over by the draft dodgers, and you know the rest of the story.

BTW, those survey courses were designed to be easy. That was how the Soc. Dept got people in them, got the enrollment, and got the $$$$.

Thinking out of the box, it seems to me that Palestinian society, violent and death obsessed, would be an excellent place for developing an alternative rap culture to the current Islamic extremism.

Forget about sending them millions of dollars for food and weapons. Instead send them a number of record companies and English teachers (kidnap-proof them) and get them into recording their diatribes. Send them tons and tons of low-rise pants and observable underwear, along with expensive sneakers and baseball caps. Flood them with 24/7 rap videos and music to undermine their culture, as this stuff has diminished ours.

When they are more concerned about their "bling" and "ride" than Israel, we will have peace. I am now waiting for my Nobel Prize. Will the White House now call and make me a special ambassador and negotiator?

TEHRAN (AP) — Iran’s president on Tuesday blamed the United States and other “big powers” for global ills like nuclear proliferation and AIDS, and he accused them of exploiting the United Nations for their own gain and the developing world’s loss.

But, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, time was on the side of the poor countries.

Taxes? What's BHO been smokin'? On second thought don't answer that.

If the proposals espoused by candidate Obama ever became law, the American economy would suffer a serious setback, says Michael J. Boskin, a professor of economics at Stanford University and senior fellow with the Hoover Institution.

The top 35 percent marginal income tax rate rises to 39.6 percent; adding the state income tax, the Medicare tax, the effect of the deduction phase-out and Obama's new Social Security tax (of up to 12.4 percent) increases the total combined marginal tax rate on additional labor earnings (or small business income) from 44.6 percent to a whopping 62.8 percent.

Hello lizards...this is a drive-by post...my uncle Charlie sent this email to me:

This is a first hand account from the nephew of one of our friends.

I don't know each of your personal political convictions, and apologize if anyone finds this offensive. I thought it was important enough to share. This is Jeff's first hand view of Senator Obama.

---------- Forwarded Message ----------
Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened.

He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers were lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from Senator, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service,

This is a little quote I thought Senator Obama would benefit from:

G. K. Chesterton expressed this idea very eloquently: “How much larger your life would be if you could become smaller in it ... You would begin to be interested in others. You would break out of this tiny ... theatre in which your own little plot is always being played, and you would find yourself under a freer sky, in a street full of splendid strangers.”

Ordinarily I chalk these charges up to typical US-bashing by a leftist organization like HRW, but in this case HRW is absolutely right. It's time to end the charade of supporting Fatah, something we never should have even considered. And it happened completely on Bush's watch.

Action Plan:

1) Cut off the money to the PA. Period. Sorry whatever "innocent civilians" are left. Your leaders are homicidal thugs and your Arab friends are perfectly happy to keep you stuck under their thumbs (maybe you should get some new leaders AND freinds?)
2) Flush Foggy Bottom -- every last damn one of them.
3) Hire John Bolton to restock.
4) Have John announce to the world that we are perfectly willing to be your friend if you stay the f*ck out of our business, stop asking for a damn handout, and keep or get your own damn country in order before you start taking potshots at ours.
5) And (to Iran and Venuezuela) about that arrogance thing you accuse us of...
It takes real arrogance to say to a country that has thousands of nukes and that "you are going down". Think about it.

File this under: How do you spell HYPOCRITE!

Acknowledging that accusations that he doesn't really live in Florida are raising "concerns" among his constituents, Democratic U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler said Tuesday that he will begin leasing an apartment in his congressional district rather than continue to claim residency at his in-laws' home near Delray Beach.

Gee, what a shock. Another Democrat who tells us to do as he says, not as he does!

From this glorious day forth, uh, no rat shall ever again wonder if such a cruel fate as has befallen generations of his, uh oppressed ancestors will, um. uh, be his, or hers, as no longer will the cruel punishments of the past in these United States, be, uh, visited on rats, as they take up the banner, uh of the new day and, uh learn to live as cats.

Actually, they used to train certain breeds of dogs as rat-catchers in England, but I forget which ones they were. Better to live in a building that doesn't have a rodent problem.

Katz's Deli, which is still hanging on on East Houston Street in NY, is an old-style corned beef, pastrami, and salami cafeteria. Probably was kosher back in the day, but now just kosher-style. They have signs left over from WWII that say, "Send a Salami to Your Boy in the Army."

i have a friend who used to take his jack russell down to the puck bldg. in the '80's and that pup would come back w/ 20 rats in 2 minutes.

334 insomniac  Wed, Jul 30, 2008 11:31:23pm
[Human Rights Watch] faulted the United States and other donors, who have bankrolled Abbas’s Palestinian Authority and Fatah-dominated security forces, for “not paying adequate attention to the systematic abuses by those forces.”

In the 170-page report, released on Friday [Nov 1 2002] and entitled "Erased in a Moment: Suicide Bombing Attacks against Israeli Civilians," Human Rights Watch claimed it could not find "evidence that Arafat or the PA planned, ordered, or carried out suicide bombings or other attacks on Israeli civilians."

.......we don't wish to come down too hard on Human Rights Watch. After all, the report, such as it is, marks a departure from Human Rights Watch's actions just a little over a year ago. Back in September 2001, the organization supported the resolution at the UN's conference on racism in Durban, South Africa where Israel was defined as "a racist apartheid state," guilty of the "systematic perpetration of racist crimes including war crimes, acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing and state terror against the Palestinian people." Apparently old habits are hard to break. After years of vilifying Israel, it cannot be easy for Human Rights Watch to admit that one of their favorite victims - the Palestinians - is systematically victimizing Israelis. But by refusing to contend with the overwhelming evidence of PA support and sponsorship of the terror war against Israel, we believe that Human Rights Watch failed in its primary function. That is, it failed to take the kind of action that could eventually lead to the end of these attacks by placing the blame on the group ultimately responsible for them - the Palestinian Authority.

Interesting that the U.S. is always to blame, no matter what.

Still, it makes a good case for denying foreign aid to these savages. Which I'm all for.
