San Francisco Babylon: Up Your Alley 2008

Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 1:22:45 pm PDT

Zombie’s latest carries a double warning and it’s no joke. Don’t view this photo essay if you aren’t fully aware of what you’re going to see. Up Your Alley 2008.

You are about to view the zombietime report about the 2008 Up Your Alley Fair in San Francisco.

This report contains photographs and descriptions of extreme sexual behavior performed in public that some viewers may find disturbing.

Two versions of this report have been made available:

The “full” version of the report contains the complete, unedited and uncensored photographs.

The “blurred” version of the report contains photographs that have been partially blurred to obscure the more explicit components of each image.

Note that the captions remain exactly the same in both versions, and that this text is also somewhat explicit, since it describes the action in the photographs.

Take a moment to decide which version you would like to view. Please be aware that when we say “explicit” and “extreme,” we are not exaggerating.

Guns are banned, but BJs in public?

Great. Something else I don't have to see to know I won't like it.

Oh dear... How do San Franciscans put up with all this stuff?

Charles, I've already uploaded the blurred version,. so you can remove that final sentence.

Thanks!

I didn't see the whole thing but I have some food in the microwave and I'd like to keep it down.

Guilt trips and browbeating.

8 zombie  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:27:35pm

Listen everybody:

It you really think you can't take the imagery, click on the "blurred" option.

If you think you can handle it -- go for the gusto with the full uncensored version.

But remember: Once something is seen, it cannot be unseen. Some of it is pretty disturbing, to say the least.

11 doppelganglander  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:28:33pm

I'm grateful to zombie for documenting it, but I'll pass. I'm fresh out of brain bleach today.

12 The Other Les  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:28:45pm

I got Hannity on the radio and he's talking about Pelosi's abrupt Soviet style adjournment of the House.

13 karmic_inquisitor  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:28:49pm

Isn't this from the city where Obama told the elites about folks in flyover country "clinging to guns and religion?"

Seems that they should if this is the alternative we are all supposed to embrace as normal and free.

14 opnion  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:28:53pm

I only scrolled a little. I get it.
If a hetro couple acted this way in public, they would most probably be arrested. Gotta wonder why is this public exhibtion condoned, but it is San Francisco

I'm gonna have to wait till I get home then as it's NSFW.

Whacking, outstanding revealing good expose job report zomb!

18 zombie  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:29:34pm

Ah, the final sentence is gone already. Fast!

Yes, both versions are available now.

The only thing missing is the "Part 2," but it's rather unimportant -- just some wacky comic relief photos after all the hardcore insanity. Nothing really newsworthy.

I hope to have Part 2 online within a couple hours anyway.

19 Semper Gumbi  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:29:53pm

Zombie,

That's a pretty eloborate NSFW note you have there. I'm guessing both versions are very NSFW.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with Nick Berg being 10 and Folsom Street fair being 5, where are we?

Webcast or normal radio?

22 mikalm  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:30:31pm

Zombie wasn't kidding. I only checked out a few of the censored photos before I realized it was worse than even his/her Folsom report. (I'm at work, so I have to be discreet.)

I consider myself gay-friendly, and personally enjoy Bacchanalia like the Exotic Erotic Ball. The difference here is that these people are a small but powerful minority of gays, and they're doing all this stuff in city streets, in daylight, where anyone can see. As the Big Zom said in the Folsom series, it's the transgression of public sex, rather than the sex itself, that really gets this crew off.

23 Honorary Yooper  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:30:35pm

OK, I'll see this when I get home. I highly suspect that given the nature of the, ahem, subject matter, that it is most definately not safe for work viewing.

32 mwalke5  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:32:59pm

Yes, while the good red-blooded Republicans "cling to their guns" the sickle and hammer liberals are, well, "clinging" to each other in public. This is exactly what the founding father's had in mind when they drafted the Bill of Rights - massive public orgies.

41 mikalm  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:35:58pm

Think of the political juice it takes to hold something like this in the streets of a major city without the cops busting everyone in sight, much less staging a full-scale riot-control scenario.

I've been reading about it on Politico. My favorite quote so far:

Rep Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) just pretended to be a Democrat. He stood on the other side of the chamber and listed all of the GOP bills that the Dems killed.

He then said, "I am a Democrat, and here is my energy plan" and he held up a picture of an old VW Bug with a sail attached to it. He paraded around the House floor with the sign while the crowd cheered.

The neighborhood where I live has the most families (and churches) demographically of the whole city and is conservative. It is more useful to think of the neighborhoods that you need to stay away from. I am surrounded by children where I live, and I volunteer music classes for them all the time. It is not all bad. To amplify: These people assume the trappings of "masculinity" which is just as much a fraud as the "femininity" of drag. They long to be "men" and instead merely spend their lives acting out a distorted fantasy of manhood that relies on the props and not on the internal strengths which the props in some cases represent.

What -- you are spouting actual wisdom, derived from those photos? Talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear! (Or a Total Toilet Pig's ear, at least.) In any case: astute observation!

I need to keep a veneer of neutrality in my report. If I starting moralizing, it would lose its impact.

Think of the political juice it takes to hold something like this in the streets of a major city without the cops busting everyone in sight, much less staging a full-scale riot-control scenario.

Exactly. You've pegged it. This is why Zombie had to post the full, uncensored, disgustingly graphic version, to show just how far a sovereign political entity can go in appeasing a degenerate, but politcally powerful element of the population. Nobody would believe it otherwise. To apply a now obsolete definition of indecency, it does indeed have redeeming social and political value, in spades.

SF is not family friendly. Trying to live in the City is hopeless with kids - I know people who've done it, but, well, they were really committed to raising their children Catholic, and reasonably innocent.

If you have a solid job offer, and can afford to buy a house, look for a house outside the City. Contra Costa County or the Peninsula work fairly well, though the commute can get tiring.

You can always ride BART.

115 Dianna  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 1:50:45pm

re: #89 marwan's daughter

From Contra Costa and the East Bay, yes. The Peninsula you have to use CalTrain, which isn't bad.

At the EXACT SAME TIME as this fair, there was an anti-Michael Savage protest THREE BLOCKS AWAY. With (count 'em) 25 protesters against Michael Savage.

Really, this doesn't happen every day on Market Street. It's a great city for a lot of things - food, wine, cultural activities, and it's really, really beautiful (caught in the right light on the right day). But it's insanely expensive, the city government isn't just broken, but destructive, and it's being driven into the ground by various interest groups.

I work in SF, but even if I could afford it, I wouldn't live there.

As a former NY'er, I remember all those wide eyed children at the NYC gay pride parades - which do so much to hurt any chances of mainstream gay people trying to live their lives with dignity (also trying to avoid the physical and emotional pathologies of circus style promiscuousness).

The very dignified Island nannies of NYC would simply frown and try to get their little charges in strollers to the parks and playgrounds by alternate routes. But I seem to remember that the more activist families brought their kids along to... er, enjoy watching the fun.

If you're that afraid, even the text-only version will be too intense for you.

I think there's a way to "turn off images" in most browsers, though, so you could load the page with no pictures.

One cannot help but notice that there has clearly been a lot of planned depilation by these folks. They do not have as much body or pubic or chest hair as most people--particularly most people on the weather side of 40.

Whether this is a sad way of simulating/symbolizing youth, a practical solution to the problem of removing caked effluvia, or merely another form of body-altering self-hatred, I do not know.

But it is quite obviously a featured aspect of this subcult's pathology.

Did you see any of the police near the ones near the under 18 and if so any photo of that, with the police and the under age ones in the same photo.

That would be very very important for an atty. to use in court.

Again, I decided not to even come close to discussing the kid/underage thing. For legal reasons of my own.

But, since you're curious: There was a 15-year-old-ish girl there (with a group of teenage friends) who overdosed on some drug and passed out in the street. Paramedics were called and she was carted off. I got pictures of the whole thing, but I can't use them.

re: #239 vagabond trader

Oh, dear.

Look, the horrible thing is that the voters of San Francisco vote for the marginally saner candidate, at least for mayor. I don't really understand how, say, Chris Daley keeps getting elected, unless the whole supervisor district business is even more balkanized than I remember from before I moved.

The majority of the population of SF probably didn't know a thing about this "Fair"; a lot who did know about it made a careful note to avoid the area. The problems always come back to one thing: SF voters tend to be renters, and they tend to be committed to a vision of tolerance that doesn't actually have much to do with what zombie just reported on. A lot of them would (so long as they don't see the report, mind!) just shrug if you mentioned it to them; they don't really think about what's actually happening, and what it's doing to the City.

It's really exhausting trying to explain SF to people who don't live in the area.

What makes this a story is the fact that it's happening in public.

Bingo. For some people, the freedom of consenting adults to practice kinky/extreme sex in private isn't enough.

Along with the obviously transgressive thrill these people get from open-air/broad-daylight blow-jobs and worse, there's probably a big dollop of cultural/political muscle-flexing as well: "See what we can get away with? If this is so horrible and degenerate, why are the cops looking the other way? Why is the media ignoring this?"

In this sense, they're exactly like the Islamist demonstrations in London and elsewhere. Although here, cock-rings stand in for "Behead Those Who Insult Islam" signs as the symbols of identity-politics power.

For these people it's not just about being gay. It's about wearing your sexuality on your sleeve. It's a whole different level of fetish that is only peripheral to the gay part. I'm straight and I wouldn't even think about (nor do I know anyone else who would) doing the straight equivalent of these acts in public.

Why do so many gay people reduce everything to the sex aspect and then turn around and tell me the gay marriage issue is about love not sex?

And that is what should make it illegal.

The late Robert Heinlein wrote a novel about colonies established to isolate defiantly anti-social people, but allow them to do their own thing behind their own borders. He called such colonies "coventries" and they were built for fascists, violent criminals, religious extremists, and the like.

I wish that I remembered the name of the novel. (Or was it a short story?) It was part of his "Future History" series written in the 1950's.

I saw the blurred version and opted out halfway through the page. I couldn't take it anymore because it was so disgusting. I would have the same reaction if hetrosexual couples were behaving in the same way.

What worries me is how many of these gross men are pedophiles. When people behave like sexual deviants in public it's not a stretch to say that they would cross other boundaries too. I will make sure my young nephews stay away from S.F. until they know how to defend themselves.

I've been to S.F. many times and it's sad to see what's happenning to such a beautiful American city. It's overrun by anti-American left-wing extremists, illegal criminal aliens, homeless, and sexual deviants. It's very sad.

Kudos to you Zombie for being such a brave soul and expose us, no pun intended, to the reality of what's happenning in S.F.

299 Kobyashi Maru  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 3:20:46pm

Charles, sorry about former post, it was inappropriate.

This does hearken back to Abraham arguing with G-d about His intent to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah; first Abraham asked if the cities would be spared if 50 righteous men could be found, then 40, and so on to 10 (maybe that is how we got to a minyan?)...anyway, are there 10 righteous men in SF? Apparently not, given the SFPD insouciance...what in the world are we coming to? Democracy out of control?

300 yochanan  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 3:21:13pm

Garbage collectors would inspect San Francisco residents' trash to make sure pizza crusts aren't mixed in with chip bags or wine bottles under a proposal by Mayor Gavin Newsom.
And if residents or businesses don't separate the coffee grounds from the newspapers, they would face fines of up to $1,000 and eventually could have their garbage service stopped.

But BJs and whizzing on each other in the streets is OK?

Shouldn't it physically hurt to be that stupid?

re: #289 Mardukhai

And that is what should make it illegal.

The late Robert Heinlein wrote a novel about colonies established to isolate defiantly anti-social people, but allow them to do their own thing behind their own borders. He called such colonies "coventries" and they were built for fascists, violent criminals, religious extremists, and the like.

I wish that I remembered the name of the novel. (Or was it a short story?) It was part of his "Future History" series written in the 1950's.

The book is "The Past Through Tomorrow" 1967. The story is entitled "Coventry" and was originally published in 1940.

re: #307 buzzsawmonkey

The fact that S&G were not destroyed for homosexual behavior will, of course, not affect your belief in the slightest.

I remember once shutting down the obnoxious psycho-preacher "Brother Jed" Smock by challenging him on this canard. When he continued to describe the mob outside Lot's door with lisping, limp-wristed caricatures, I responded, "And how did Lot handle the situation? What did he offer the mob to keep them away from the angels?"

(If you're not familiar with the answer, check Genesis 19:8.)

re: #311 buzzsawmonkey

Yup. The Sodomites weren't homosexuals per se -- they were more like prison lifers looking to rape and humiliate the "new fish." The two cities must have been incredibly xenophobic and totally isolated -- why else would Lot's daughters have been convinced that their destruction meant the end of the human race, and that they had to seduce their father to keep the species going?

I looked at the uncensored version.

I'm not going to rag on peope who live in San Francisco. As they've noted above, they're no more responsible for this than I, as a resident of a good neighborhood in St. Louis, am for the gang-banging apocalyptic landscape that is part of my own city.

Personally, I agree with those who've noted above that these most extreme forms of exhibitionistic homosexuality should never have been removed from the DSM3. Some of these pathetic excuses for men (I'm looking at you, Total Toilet Pig*) could truly benefit from therapy and medication.

*by the way, I don't need my white helmet back. You can keep it.

I'm appalled by the inaction of the cops, but even more so by the inaction of the health department. This is a city with a massive number of immunocompromised gay men (even barring HIV/AIDS, if ANYONE has unprotected anal sex, they're compromising their immune systems), and thousands of them are running around in a milieu of every bodiy fluid there is? Just how many viral and bacterial mutations resulted from this particular petri dish? And how much of the public wealth will be required to treat the resulting diseases?

Horrific.

358 Throbert McGee  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 5:28:14pm

A few preliminary thoughts, mainly as feedback for zombie:

• Zombie, first, thanks for doing this; I expect that for your troubles, you're going to be hit with undeserved accusations of "homophobia" from gay media sources and their water-carriers (NPI!) in the liberal mainstream press. But if there's any "homophobia" here, I see it in the Up Your Alley participants -- a bunch of men who don't seem to like their own homosexuality very much.

• There's plenty of unintentional humor in the fact that an American beer company would sponsor an event where urine is eroticized. (Yes, I know that the parent company of Miller is actually Seth Effrikan -- but its flagship brand, Miller, is quintessentially an American beer, and I mean that in the worst way!) Obviously, every college student knows the paradox that "the more beer you drink, the less your piss looks like beer." And just as obviously, connoisseurs of beer typically disparage the mass-market American pilsners (Miller, Coors, Bud) as "pisswater." Less obviously to most people is that practitioners of "golden showers," aka "watersports," have their own jokes riffing on the fact that urine looks a lot like beer. For instance, in a gay bar I once saw a dude with a yellow T-shirt reading "Save Water: Drink Recycled Beer."

• In one of the photos towards the bottom, we can see an example of the famous (but in practice, nearly extinct) Hanky Code: a guy has a yellow bandanna and a green one tucked into his black-leather underwear. The yellow hanky, as you can probably guess, has always stood for "watersports," and if the placement over the right buttcheek was intentional, it means that he wants to get peed on rather than to pee on someone else. (In the Hanky Code, the right side always represents the role that is thought of as being more submissive, more "bottom," more femme, etc.) The green hanky usually refers to prostitution, and placed with a yellow hanky on the right, the message is presumably "If I think you're hot enough, I will give you money to pee on me." By the way, that "Hanky Code" link is work-safe, but if you check it out, you should keep in mind that the heyday of the HC was in the '70s, and only a handful of the colors listed were ever in widespread use.

• The "lawn sprinkler" effect that Zombie attributes to the extremely X-treme practice of -- urk -- genital splitting might actually have been the result of the type of piercing known as a Prince Albert -- which is, comparatively speaking, far more mainstream. (When the PA ring is not actually being worn, it leaves a small "dribble hole" in addition to the natural urethral opening.)

Anyway, more thoughts for zombie later... I need to go pick up a few groceries to make dinner with.

This is Pelosi's town. The supernatural ones ya know.

PS - This is the problem with a lot of homosexuals. They simply don't care who they expose themselves (not just physical) to - including children, say 5 years old. I'm sure that would delight them to no end in fact.

361 bbuddha  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 5:38:28pm

I was warned, I thought, how bad can it be? really? It isn't like I'm a prude. I only got 4 or 5 pictures in. What pisses me off about this is the incredible inequity that is building between protected people (the more equal) and the rest of us. I have gone to Laconia bike week quite a few times and there is a very visible police presence to keep things under control. One of the things that will get your a$$ hauled off to jail is flashing your boobies. yet this goes far beyond flashing and apparently is at least tolerated. we need to return to a land of laws. If public nudity isn't allowed it isn't allowed. it shouldn't be forbidden to some but ok for others. Animal Farm Much

363 CLLRusso  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 5:43:26pm

re: #343 zombieWell dear Zombie, I fear for you, I don't know. I think you a martyr, because you dare to make a photo record of this kind of horror and at least knowing there is this depravity among these guys makes me believe this is really not a desirable lifestyle for anyone. But are the majority of gay persons like this, or is this just the bottom of the pit? I have know a few gay men that seemed to me rather upstanding fellows and I can't imagine them engaging in stuff like this. Though I confess I didn't look this time, I looked last time and that was enough. Shutter! Then that was all I could think of when the gays made their march through Jerusalem, Israel. And I scorn them for doing such an abominable thing.

364 SouthernFriedChickenhawk  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 5:48:05pm

Homosexuality=disorder. I know many here were reared on MTV and Oprah, but that is all there is to it. Once we recognize this fact and treat it as such we will continue to live in this circus.

365 Throbert McGee  Fri, Aug 1, 2008 5:51:52pm

Oh, one other thought for now -- as I mentioned to zombie in another thread a couple days ago, the public "watersports" may be a social nuisance and incredibly gross, but from a Public Health standpoint it's actually not that big a deal. (HIV and other STDs are not at all likely to be vectored by urine.)

In my opinion, the biggest Public Health scandal here is that you had vendors selling "bareback" porn right next door to AIDS Awareness exhibits, and almost no one in the "gay community" even bats an eye. As zombie wrote:

barebacking (having sex without a condom) is considered a major in the spread of AIDS in the gay community

But zombie isn't quite correct here -- because the truth is that without barebacking, the AIDS epidemic among homo/bi men would've been, quite easily, only one-tenth as bad as it actually was. (That is, 90% of the infections probably wouldn't have happened at all if barebacking never, ever occurred -- i.e., if all male-to-male sexual transmissions were attributable EITHER to condom failure during anal sex OR to fellatio.)

For some reason, while barely getting through Zombie's report, I recollected Otto Friedrich's classic book on pre-war Berlin,
Before the Deluge: A Portrait of 1920's Berlin which devoted a substantial amount to the reputation it had as that era's equivalent to San Francisco, even more so than Paris. Voluptuous Panic
displays that graphically, but not to the extent as Zombie's report. 18th century Lisbon had a similar reputation before its earthquake. It seems every era has its equivalent city that gets a worldwide reputation, not always desired by many or most of its inhabitants. Rome ? Decadence is not a word without meaning.

I have a friend that trains all year for the AIDS bike ride from San Fransisco to LA. There are lots of legitimate AIDS events and causes. But things like this fair undermine all those efforts.

Um, wow -- do you seriously mean to suggest that Dan White was attempting to "do something" about the problem of perverts in San Francisco?

'Cause the claim that White's assassination of George Moscone and Harvey Milk was motivated primarily by anti-homosexual sentiment is one that I've mainly seen peddled in the gay press, as part of an attempt to elevate Milk to the status of gay martyr/saint.

In Reality-land, however, most people seem to agree that while White may indeed have been a homophobic individual and had grievances with Milk partly because of Milk's open homosexuality, White was also a guy with many political chips on his shoulder. Most people also seem to agree that Moscone (who was hetero) was the primary target, and furthermore that Milk was just one out of several secondary targets (also local politicos, as White himself had been) that White hoped to kill.

[...]

There are other things to get mad at in those pics, but they all pale in comparison to this, IMO.

Thank you for saying this, Dainn -- I agree that the BIGGEST scandal here is the laissez-faire attitude that the event's sponsors take towards the promotion of highly unsafe sex, even while they pay lip service to AIDS prevention.

Because so long as low-STD-risk practices such as S&M flogging and group masturbation and "watersports" are kept behind closed doors, they cease to be problems for the general public.

In contrast, when subcultures of the "gay community" not only tolerate but vigorously endorse and promote high-risk activities like barebacking, that hits everybody in the wallet, even if the HIV-spreading activities are taking place in a private, adults-only space behind closed doors. Because the expensive chemotherapy that HIV+ people need to stay alive and (relatively) healthy is subsidized by the taxes and insurance payments of people who don't have HIV and are unlikely to ever become infected with it.

What I'm saying, to zombie and to anyone who might want to link to the zombietime photos, as Michelle Malkin did after the Folsom St. report: the relentless promotion of medically unsafe sex acts, and the polite willingness of mainstream media outlets and corporate sponsors to ignore this relentless promotion, ought to be the central focus of outrage, more so than the general grossness and the public nature of the grossness.

[Sodom and Gomorrah] must have been incredibly xenophobic and totally isolated -- why else would Lot's daughters have been convinced that their destruction meant the end of the human race, and that they had to seduce their father to keep the species going?

Um, maybe because they were fictitious persons invented to play an illustrative role in a moral fable, rather than actual historic individuals whom you'd expect to behave like real people?

In other words, Lot's daughters jumped to the conclusion that the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was world-wide for the same reason that a horror-movie chick who's wandering in a dark corridor and having a heart attack every time a cat walks by never turns all the way around to notice that the killer is lurking in the shadows ten steps behind her -- because the story requires that she act in such a silly manner.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying that the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was a total fiction; I'm suggesting, however, that even if it was indeed based on real-life events, the detail about Lot's daughters sleeping with their father was most probably a bit of after-the-fact embroidery.

(And although I'm an atheist, it seems logically obvious to me that in principal, one can accept the Bible as divinely inspired and free of error, and also believe that it contains poetic embellishments of fact -- with the understanding that these embellishments were either God's idea, or that humans added these embellishments only with God's approval!)

I consider myself gay-friendly, and personally enjoy Bacchanalia like the Exotic Erotic Ball. The difference here is that these people are a small but powerful minority of gays, and they're doing all this stuff in city streets, in daylight, where anyone can see.

The only part I would quibble with, a little, is the assertion that these people are "powerful" -- because whatever power they have comes from the willingness of other gay people, and of gay-friendly straight people, to politely ignore what they're doing.

And whence the willingness to politely ignore the gross public displays? In hugely over-simplified terms, it works something like this:

Mainstream Gay: Sheesh, it's totally disgusting to see these gay leather freaks drinking each other's urine in broad daylight on a public street!

Gay Leather Freak: Shame on you! I suppose that next you'll be saying a gay teenager should be expelled from school for trying to bring a same-sex date to Homecoming!

Mainstream Gay: OMG, you're right -- and I could've been that teenager! Never again will I be so insensitive...

[SFX: time-passing harp arpeggio]

Gay-Friendly Hetero: Sheesh, it's totally disgusting to see these gay leather freaks drinking each other's urine in broad daylight on a public street!

Mainstream Gay: Ah, that's what I used to think, but then I realized: isn't that a bit like saying gay teenagers shouldn't be allowed to bring a same-sex date to Homecoming?

Note that most of the serious degenerates are pretty old. Even allowing for premature aging, this might indicate that the '60s heyday of compulsive rebellion has passed, or at least that it is taken for granted by the young and is no longer regarded as rebellious.

While the public exhibitionism and the leather/S&M might be artifacts of Boomer rebellion against "patriarchal homophobic conformism," unfortunately the evidence of amateur pr0n vids on Xtube suggests to me that many 20-something gay men are embracing high-risk sex for reasons that have nothing to do with Vietnam-era rebellion.

re: #342 1 US Sheeple

I was not one of those folks that was yelling and screaming about the "fags" but after seeing this I guess that I have evolved into a complete "homophobe".

Might I suggest that you take some inspiration from Chris Rock's famous "Black Folks vs. N!ggers" monologue? The guys seen in zombie's photos ARE "fags," but that term shouldn't be used as a mere synonym for "homosexual men."

You make an important distinction. Two of the gay men that I have known in my life were very conservative, probably more so than I am.

Really Sick , whats this world coming too when shit like that can happen in public .?
Are we really going the way of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations ?

We have lost our forbearance for morality , the rule of law and civil decency , if this be America then we are trully lost ..

The only thing left for us now is apathy and demise when we allow these things to happen on our city streets .....

You wanna lay off the Nazi language there, chief? We're not burning any untermenschen here. Thanks.

Right, they're upstanding human beings, don't you think so, Chief?. My estimation of them stands. Not degenerate?. Not animalistic?. Not beneath civilized human behavior?. Please take a peak at your moral compass, it may not be pointed North. And you're the one trotting out the term untermensch. Thanks

Pardon me for pointing this out, but you didn't say they were animalistic; you said they were animals. And you didn't say that their behavior was beneath that of civilized human beings; you used the noun subhumans.

Not true. All you have to do is kill the brain cells holding those memories. Here, have a drink.

P.S. Isn't there a lesbian street fair?

re: #439 Throbert McGee

I am inclined to agree here. human sexuality and behavior is all over the place. It isn't just black and white there are plenty of grays as well in both areas of sexuality and behavior. this show was totally vulgar and crude and is not the same thing as two people in a committed and long term relationship. Would it be any different if someone were to organize a street fair for street hookers and there john's just that today's politics has its share of protected classes and two bit whores are not in one of them.

The fact that this is being done on the public street and sponsored by a major company is the problem if it were in a private place and you had to chose to go there i would not be bothered.

Interesting. . .thougn maybe not so much.

You open up a large venue for exhibitionists and. . .suprise. . .look what happens.

I suppose there was no obvious heterosexual activity there.

Who would have thought that public oral sex within sight of San Francisco law enforcement would be tolerated under the guise of "good community relations"?

I'm guessing that goat-fucking will be allowed under "cultural diversity".

re: #50 zombie

Beers at Yankee Stadium cost more than $9 each? Holy cow. I was shocked they were even that expensive at this fair.

In fairness, the domestic beers in your image cost $5 each for 14 ounces (a standard beer is 12 ounces). That's about par for a beer in a restaurant or bar in a big city.

The $9 beers in your image were imports and 24 ounces; so while the price seems high, the price covers a premium DOUBLE beer.

I can't speak to the beer costs at Yankee Stadium, but I think the last time I went to Fenway park *light* beers were $6 each (and they didn't serve full strength beer).

I think $8 for 24 ounces (two beers) at a public event would be considered somewhat of a bargain in many large metro areas, especially in San Francisco that carries one of the highest costs of living in the USA.

In sum, I think the beers at this event were probably a little on the cheap side (though not terribly so), and I think its reasonable to infer that the ready availability of inexpensive alcohol was a contributing factor to the events witnessed.

One second thought, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT.

455 CEQAttorney  Sat, Aug 2, 2008 8:29:37am

That report was easily the most disgusting thing I have seen on public streets.

This was an "open to the public" event where anyone could walk in and see these things. They didn't even stop people from taking pictures (which could be used later to prosecute for the plethora of crimes being committed).

Is this the type of event we want to occur on our streets?

I haven't been there in nearly 10 years, but last time I was in SF I saw people walking down the street smoking joints. (Smoking an ordinary tobacco cigarette would draw a dirty look. . .those are dangerous, you know).

My feeling is that while the SF cops have the legal ability to detain people for public sex or nudity, they were just there to make sure there was no violence. From their perspective, if nobody is getting hurt, they have more important things to worry about.

From an individual policing perspective it makes sense. The decision whether or not to enforce public decency at an event like this really has to be made at the departmental or city level, not by individual officers at the scene (who are outnumbered probably 100:1).

So I think the better question is why does the City of San Francisco tolerate this?
