Zawahiri Worm Chow? Taliban Deny

Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 8:31:48 am PDT

Rumors have been flying around that Al Qaeda freakazoid Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a US airstrike, but the Taliban deny it: Pakistani Taliban deny Zawahri death report.

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A Pakistani Taliban spokesman denied on Saturday a U.S. media report that al Qaeda number two, Ayman al Zawahri, might have been killed or wounded in a U.S. missile strike in Pakistan’s border region last Monday.

“Zawahri has been killed by them several times. But once again this claim is wrong. This is baseless,” Maulvi Omar told Reuters by telephone from an undisclosed location.

"Called Reuters from an undisclosed location"?!?

What, do they have a red glowing Bat-Phone under glass for these freaks to call in on? If no secure direct line, why hasn't the NSA turned that location into a smoking hole?

How did they know it wasn't a prank call from Hamad from Islamabad? "He is fine. Is your refrigerator running? I believe Zawahiri is running with it!" HAHAHAHAH!

57 Rkrocket  Sat, Aug 2, 2008 10:06:38am

There seems to be a pattern with these guys. We 'intercept' tidbits that one of their leaders is almost dead. Everyone's hopes go up... then they let the world know the guy has miraculously escaped the infidels (again!) and his mythical hero status jumps up another notch.

Wanted: Head on stake.

Al-Zawahiri was unavailable for comment?

65 eaglewingz08  Sat, Aug 2, 2008 1:24:08pm

Gee you'd think Reuters would have caller id so they could trace the number. Oh, sorry, they know where the call is from, their staffers are the pr aides hired by AQ to soften their image to the public. I think this report bears the usual 72 hour rule, as I wouldn't get excited about the report. unless a body is captured and positively identified.

re: #66 Colonel Panik

The correct aim point is slightly under the nose in what is called the philtrum. A shot there goes through the head and turns the pons into hamburger. If somebody is in the act of plunging a knife into somebody else and you hit them there they just drop. Without any connection to the rest of the brain, all voluntary actions are impossible.

I meant to say:

"Al Qaeda number two" Isn't that redundant?

By accidentally putting a redundant "al" in, the thing lost all meaning. Would it have been funny? We may never know.

78 Rev  Sat, Aug 2, 2008 11:02:12pm

What a wonderful thought...although the worms my wife raises would choke on crap like him!

And, I patially agree with CrashBurn -- the NSA ought to have been able to trace the location of that call and pass it along to the folks who DO initiate the wipe-outs. BTW, you all DO know that the NSA does not have any "action" forces, right? They are really the intel weenies who process the raw data and provide the intel reports to those who DO have the capability to act on it.

79 Rev  Sat, Aug 2, 2008 11:04:21pm

docremulac, do you mean Al al Qaeda is a figment of my imagination?...here I thought he was a living, breathing threat to us all... Al was clearly my pick for the replacement to AaZ...
