Everytime the services wanted to do controlled burns to mimic the natural phenomenon to burn away the dry underbrush (FUEL), the nuts tie everything up in litigations.

I just read a summary recently, written by someone with an electrical background, on why you can't run frieght trains with electical power like you can with passenger trains. The weight of a few trains is just too much, let alone having several dozen out there all trying to pull electricity off the same system.

See Amtrak - the NE corridor is limited by the amount of energy drawn off the overhead wires. And the amount of energy to pull a freight line is even higher.

You'd also have to electrify the nation's rail infrastructure, which would be an obscene cost. It's barely functional as it is, and is highly vulnerable to weather and equipment failures.

How is any of this bullshit going to bring down prices at the pump? That is all I care about and none of these pie in the sky schemes is going to do that. Tax the oil companies? They make a profit margin of about 9%. Microsofts' margin is 18%. Agribuisness' margin is 13%. Housing construction is 20%. Will those all be next because they all are obviously ripping us off? The government is going to dictate how much profit is fair and confiscate the rest?
