Michael Moore: The Democratic Party is Stupid, and So Are Americans

Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 9:18:42 pm PDT

Noted political expert and gaseous far left windbag Michael Moore advises the Democratic Party how to lose the Presidential election.

With a heaping helping of contempt for American voters, to pander to the Guardian’s audience.

Keep saying nice things about McCain. Like how he’s been “good on global warming” and campaign finance. Keep reminding a country at war that he and he alone is a war hero. Not to mention an all-round good guy. Say that enough and what happens? The same thing that happens when you repeat over and over, “Apply directly to the forehead” - people start to believe it! You’ve sold them on the idea that McCain isn’t a bad egg, and they do not hear the rest of what you have to say: “But John McCain is four more years of George W Bush.” If you keep saying he used to be a “maverick”, our less-attention-span citizens hear only the “maverick” part, not the past tense verb included in that sentence.

This is not to say you should in any way demean John McCain as a human being or as an American. Disagreeing strongly with his policies or the direction he would lead the country is not the same as denigrating him as a person. This particular style of politics is the cesspool that the Right and the Republican Party apparatus swim in. We do not further our agenda by imitating them. Fight, fight back, and fight hard - but fight clean. It’s ultimately what I believe the majority of Americans would like to see.

There is also nothing wrong with saying nice things about McCain’s constituency, and you should. We want to hold out our hand to people who have voted for Republicans in the past. Many of them are tired, a good number are disgusted. They won’t agree with a lot of what we stand for, but they’ve had it up to here with the Republicans and we should make sure our tent is big enough to welcome them in.

So if you want to help elect McCain, keep blessing him as if he were the white knight who accidentally hopped on the wrong horse. Forget to continually point out that he is truly up to no good. Keep pulling your punches. Don’t remind people McCain wants to help the oil companies even more than Bush did. Don’t bring up that he wants to outlaw all abortion. Back away from painting McCain as the guy who thinks it’s a good idea to stay in Iraq until pigs fly. That way, if you keep praising him, you can send a mixed message to the less-informed who are simply not going to figure it out. When they walk into a voting booth, they will see two names on the ballot:

· Barack Obama
· War Hero

Trust me, this ain’t Sweden. War Hero wins every time.

Is Michael Moore calling himself "stupid"?

2 laZardo  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:19:52pm

Apparently he was the first one to watch the "Democrats Endorse McCain" commercial.

/didn't make him very happy now, did it.

3 slokat  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:19:57pm

Is he Canadian?

Did Barack Obama serve in Vietnam ?

La-hoo-za-her.

8 pat  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:21:53pm

Safe statements, knowing that if you disagree with Obama or even laugh at him you are a "racist".

9 BlueCanuck  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:22:20pm

The more I read what he says, the more I feel sorry for him. How can a person keep spewing this type of bile and not be healthy?

10 pingjockey  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:22:28pm

I would really enjoy going a few rounds with Michael Moron. Using 8 ounce gloves. Heh.

11 Pastorius  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:23:06pm

Michael Moore is the AntiChrist.

12 Macker  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:23:43pm

Every time I see Mike al-Moor blow up in Team America, I laugh my ass off!

13 Donbmcd  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:23:47pm

You know he had his 15 min, now he is strugiing to be relevent.

14 Pastorius  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:24:41pm

And, of course, Sweden is known for having people with "funny names" voted in as the leader of their nation, aren't they?

15 Sharmuta  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:24:55pm
They won’t agree with a lot of what we stand for, but they’ve had it up to here with the Republicans and we should make sure our tent is big enough to welcome them in.

Nothing says "welcome to our tent" like calling people right wing fascists.

16 pat  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:24:56pm

Someone so physically repulsive should have a redeeming feature.

17 Mars Needs Neocons  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:25:04pm

Just as long as he throws his support behind Obambi I don't care what he says.
Everyone he's supported or endorsed to this point has been soundly defeated.

18 jthatcher  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:25:14pm

"...they’ve had it up to here with the Republicans and we should make sure our tent is big enough to welcome them in."

Is even Michael Moore really that blind?

19 Noam Sayin'  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:25:29pm

Michael, reality seems to contradict your assertions.

20 Shr_Nfr  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:26:21pm

I am waiting for his next film: "Having an affair in order to reduce global warming." After all that activity reduces the need for fossil fuels.

21 Abu Al-Poopypants  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:26:23pm

With Moore, "tent" also refers to the wardrobe.

(yeah, I went there; not proud)

Does being a laughing stock count?

23 Cartman  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:27:27pm

Moore is a great big, fat joke of a man. And he knows it. He's also intellectually and politically disgusting.

24 solomonpanting  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:27:27pm

On the one hand he says...

Disagreeing strongly with his policies or the direction he would lead the country is not the same as denigrating him as a person. This particular style of politics is the cesspool that the Right and the Republican Party apparatus swim in [disregard the gazillion McChimpyBushHitler... comments]

...and then seeks Republican voters

We want to hold out our hand to people who have voted for Republicans in the past.

Mmmm, I'm thinking. .................

26 RedPepper  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:28:07pm

Let's see if I have this straight.

Obama is the first post-racial presidential candidate.

And if you don't support him, you are, pretty much by definition, a racist.

Something here does not compute ...

27 christheprofessor  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 9:28:19pm

Ha!

These have been the mantras of the Democratic Party. Beginning with their stunning inability to defeat the most detested politician in American history, Richard Nixon, and continuing through their stunning inability to defeat the most detested politician in the world, George II, the Democrats are the masters of blowing it. And they don't just simply "blow it" - they blow it especially when the electorate seems desperate to give it to them

The Brit journalists can always be counted on to be objective...

Ignorant = has not learned
Stupid = unable to learn
Michael Moore = unwilling to learn

So what do you call a person who is willfully ignorant and refuses to acknowledge reality. Does that cross into the realm of mental illness?

re: #14 Pastorius

MMHates America was a great film.

Shooting Michael Moore was a film made by Kevin Leffler, he was in school with Mikey. He brings up a bunch of things about what Mikey was like in school, followed by a history of Mikeys accomplishments. Most of these are backed by comments from people that were involved in the different events, and what they think of Mikey now. (almost everyone hates him). He also does some parodies of Mikes bs. The funniest bit was traveling around NY in an ice cream truck trying to get people go to Mikeys birthday party. He also put a GWB standee on Mikeys deck.

It's just brilliant comedy from beginning to end. And the two copies I watched were both unfinished, but still great. I was trying to arrange a showing around MT in order to fill out a survey and get back to him about how it was, but I couldn't get my College Republicans and other Republican groups to coordinate.

He's a great guy and had a really great sense of humor.

In retrospect it's easy to look at the numbers and say "if Perot had not been there it wouldve gone to Bush" But I guess that's only because if you add up Bush votes and Perot Votes, Clinton was beat.

It's been shown in various documentaries that he makes sure he never gets any criticism. Most mail never reaches him, he doesn't do interviews that he doesn't plan himself, he isn't able to be caught on the street.

re: #87 Mars Needs Neocons

I wouldn't mind checking that out. I love documentaries, and grown keen on them since recognizing the manipulative editing in Bowling...

I have another friend who is a documentary filmmaker and was at one time a huge fan of Moore's. But always the critical thinker, and one to adhere to a personal filmmaker's ethics about telling the truth, has grown to despise the man.

I remember a night, way back in college, when the two of us drank E&J brandy and watched Roger and Me. At first we thought nothing of the yard sign, "Rabbits for pets or food" (paraphrasing), as we both hunted rabbits for family dinner and owned rabbits as pets. Then we realized this was in Detroit. Yeah, it was partially the brandy, but we wept a little at that scene.

Oh, c'mon. Who here didn't weep at the bunnies as food or pets scene in Roger and Me?

For years now, nearly every poll has shown that the American people are right in sync with the platform of the Democratic Party. They are pro-environment, pro-women's rights, pro-choice, they don't like war, they want the minimum wage raised, and they want a single-payer universal healthcare system. The American public agrees with the Republican Party on only one major issue: they support the death penalty.

Let's see here:

pro-environment: Most everyone is, but for Moore and others "pro-environment" means anti-capitalitst

pro-women's rights: What rights don't women have?

pro-choice: Basically evenly split.

they don't like war: Who does? We've seen the consequences of not confronting evil, though.

minimum wage raised: Only if you want government to dictate wages.

single-payer universal healthcare system: Careful what you ask for.

Many Democrats don't comprehend that Republican voters exist. Oh, they know that Republican politicians exist, but anytime someone votes for them, they were "tricked" or it was a "scam." Surely nobody ''believes'' what they say they believe and are voting based on that.

That's why we get this bizarre double-talk in media where they seem to act like we're not in the room. "Reach out to people who have voted for Republicans in the past." "People who have voted for Republicans in the past." ...uh...you mean Republicans, Mike?

This is why they're so obsessed with conspiracies. Since they can't comprehend civilian Republican voters, than those votes must have been faked.

Ironically, being overexposed by the Democrat point of view is the Media means we know what they believe. We think they're wrong, and many an essay we have written on why, but we know what they believe. They, on the other hand, can't seem to come to grips that we believe something else.

Let's all give Michael the obligatory Ingsoc Salute

Hail Oh mighty irrational emotional emperor!

I lay awake thinking at night how people like Michael Moore have risen to positions of power among large groups of people. They must be satisfying some sort of demand. Maybe it's the need for emotional release? To me Moore personifies the emotional individual that lacks reason. People who let their emotions rule instead of their ability to reason might find comfort in someone who is so purely emotional; an archetype for the masses.

154 Archimedes  Fri, Aug 8, 2008 11:07:32pm

I think you have to realize that people like Michael Moore get off on saying outrageous things. They reverse the truth 180 degrees and pretend as if it's the truth. This upsets those of us who are concerned with the truth. We become rightfully indignant. But just realize this is what they want. They love that kind of reaction. It garners attention and makes them rich and famous. I learned long ago that Michael Moore and other similar leftists know exactly how dishonest their rhetoric is and I treat them accordingly.

I think the thing that is hard is realizing there are people out there who can lie straight faced and with such adeptness. That’s hard to fathom. I think there is a natural benevolence in most people that makes it hard to accept this, and those kinds of creatures feed off of this. Anyway, such people exist. I give you exhibit A: Michael Moore and exhibit B: Bill Clinton.

The last section of MM piece (of garbage):

Denounce me! The candidate Obama, at some point, might be asked this question: "Michael Moore is a supporter of yours and has endorsed you. But in his new book, Mike's Election Guide, he says the following (go ahead and fill in the blank ...). Will you still accept his endorsement or do you denounce him?"
...
We need you to be a candidate who will fight back every time they attack you. Actually, don't even wait till you have to fight back. Fight first! Show some vision and courage and smoke them out. Take the offensive. Keep asking why these lobbyists are McCain's best friends. Let's finally have a Democrat who's got the balls to fire first.

Here we see MM in all his hypocritical glory. The Dems will lose if Obama denounces Moore so, accordingly, Moore demands that Obama and his supporters "Fight first!" and "Take the offensive." It follows ex hypothesi that, if by denouncing Michael Moore "the Democratic Party establishment" would thereby "help elect John Sidney McCain III to a four-year extension of the Bush Era," then by "Take the offensive" Moore is telling his followers to embrace and endorse his book and ideology. In other words, Moore's attempting to push some books by arguing that endorsing his ideology (and, of course, buying his new book) is crucial if the Dems really want the Obamessiah to win.

Ok NOW I'm pissed. No I'm not. If an insecure XY fatass were to scream at you "America sucks and 2 + 2 = 5!" You'd laugh. Which is why we laugh at Mr. Barack Obama or whatever. What this country should demand is logic over emotion. Answers over explanations. Directness over absquiscence. Balls over pussiness. Yes, print that. Point is, America, allow us to dominate.

The Chinese slave-dancers were quite a scene, but what if one of them disagreed with the message of "justice" and "freedom"? What if one of them were sitting in a jail in the outskirts of Beijing and had witnessed the governments of the world bow down to the powers of thousands of slave-dancers? Read that last sentence again.

None of ya'll get it. It's not about incredible sights. It's about tyranny and the fact that there is one country left on this planet that defends indivdiualism. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

P.S. Anyone who disagrees vehemently I beg of thee debate me. I'm an Irish Catholic attorney who wants nothing more than to bring up the impoverished into the middle class. The obstacle is government--ask the nearest company their state taxes. Bitches. . .er, thieves. Call me anytime.

Dude, put down the bottle and go to bed, your current incoherence does not help your law practice

It’s ultimately what I believe the majority of Americans would like to see

Earth to Michael Moore (should be easy - youi're in an orbit of your own you tub of s**t) - you might want to check with your own guy. He's the one who played the race card you idiot. Do you not have an irony detector or is it just defective?

re: #148 Norm Chumpsky

C'mon that doesn't really count because nobody *really* though that Kerry was a war hero. :)

I think there's a majestic statue of him in Hanoi....

Is it still considered an honor to be insulted by Michael-I-wish-you-loved-me-Moore? I sure would feel creepy if he ever agreed with me.

I actually didn't get the part about Sweden, except that it didn't sound flattering. Surely he isn't dumb enough to think allegations about WWII are relevant in this context?

172 LeonidasOfSparta  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 5:25:09am

If one wants to see complete lunacy as it relates to BO and his parade of mental midgets, his ad against McCain is a rare moment. He actually has the "audacity of stupidity" to accuse McCain of "changing his politics to suit the moment".......

pots calling kettles....grass houses stowing thrones...or glass houses throwing stones....(or even smoking grass, throwing pots and listening to rolling stones....)

BO and MM deserve each other.

I think that McCain should have his ad men take their cameras to the part of Chicago BO is "supposed to have organized" and show the increased crime, the desimated housing projects that were built cheaply, not maintained, and abandoned once the "porkbarrel" dried up and show America what it has to look forward to.

173 flexthink  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 5:25:19am

I am sure that Michael Moore actually has stock in the oil companies like he does in WalMart.

Go to [Link: www.hyporcrite.com...] to see the truth about this fraud.

174 barry the baptist  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 5:37:47am

What a moron.

It never ceases to amaze me how his type routinely bash the US but at the same time enjoy the success they have here, too (e.g., Looney Clooney, Matt Damon, etc).

It would be great to strip him of his citizenship and deport his sorry ass to the country of our choice (e.g., Zimbabwe). See how he would like it there. Something tells me that Zimbabweans wouldn't give a shit about his rhetoric. And as for Robert Mugabe, well, I think we know how he would deal with a crumb like M Moore.

175 segesta  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 5:47:24am

My own elitist spin would be: Americans are fat, and so is Michael Moore.

Has there been any movies about assassinating Clinton?

If you mention anything good about Dubya on most sites you get called names to the umpteenth degree. I don't recall the same happening during the Clinton years...

180 steveoh  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 6:11:28am

So I'm sitting in a wine bar downtown in Manhattan and overhear two guys talking about the Michael Moore, and "how well the screening went". The film they were were referring to was Fahrenheit 9-11 and these two clowns were the editor and assistant editor on the film. I was a few to the wind, but only because I had just finished my day shooting 12 hours on my own feature film. I boldly told one of them that I disagreed with Moore's tactics, and found them to be dishonest and a disservice to the film community, which is already infested with enough liberalism to drown any sane thinker.

The older guy, also a little drunk challenges me. "You didn't see the film how the F**k would you know." I preceded to provide evidence from his other films of his distortions and lies. I went as far as to accuse them of being complicit in propaganda against the USA and that they didn't even deserve the rights and protections provided by our great nation. So the older idiot challenges me to a fight outside.

I stood up and was prepared to send this guy back to his maker(although I'm sure his only maker ended with the word "Maker's Mark" His assistant stepped in and actually began to defend my right to criticize Moore. Maybe because the Assistant got chewed out by the fat bastard one day for eating his donuts during an online session or something. Anyway, it was just my Michael Moore moment. That editor, I'm sure we could easily look up his name, was attached to Moore like he was some messiah or something. Spreading the message of the g-d's Chomsky and Finkelstein. Looking back, I should have given him a beat down. But I guess I kept thinking, if only it were Moore himself. Moore, I would have not hesitated for a nano second. If threatened by him, we would have all been spared watching his crap forever more.

Great story!

That's why Michael Moore has body guards. Americans HATE lying manipulative propagandizing assholes. It's instinctual. I think there are quit a few people who would like to beat the holy living crap out of Michael Moore.

There was some asshat on O'Reilly last night bellowing about how Hollyweird needs to blacklist Jon Voight. This fool was still bitching about stolen elections in 2000 and 2004. These people are not sane.

The broken record left. Actually I hope the left keep it up. The folks are sick of it.

Mmmm, I'm thinking. .................

I think I've come up with something redeeming about Mike:

Someday, assuming he's not cremated, he will make a lot of worms and bugs very, very happy.

Generations of insects and invertebrates will live, love, and die inside his coffin. Maybe one of them will rise up, write the Great American Insect Novel, and donate those profits to the RNC.

That's pretty redeeming.

194 HL Mencken  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 8:03:18am

Such potential wasted. He could have gone from building Suburbans to a UAW big shot. Instead of just becoming a Suburban himself.

What happened to his docufarty on overweight people and how republicans set up secret societies to make far left loons become some fat pigs? He is mad that his Halliburton stocks fell into the waste basket, after Bush kowtowed to the libs and denied them good contracts oversees.

205 Norm Chumpsky  Sat, Aug 9, 2008 5:09:20pm

Didn't Kerry fake up the circumstances that led to some or all of his purple hearts? I'm a bit fuzzy on this.

I wouldn't say faked, but 3 purple hearts for wounds that each required minutes of care (Bactine and Band-Aids) and then a quick '3-strikes' exit from VN after winning a dubious Silver Star seems a bit much to me.
Of course my opinion means nothing but there are quite a few of his fellow servicemen that feel the same way.

No statue to him but he gets an honorable mention in a Hanoi museum dedicated to the war.

That's the great part about living in NY. You can run into the rich and famous as easily as the poor and forgotten. Wish you had the chance to educate him on the foolishness of challenging real men to fisticuffs.

I love TX, but I miss visiting NYC.

This is a lesson in brainwashing. However, what Moore misses is that the only people he ever succeeded in brainwashing are lefties, i.e. those whose who are willing dupes anyway.
