DNC Invites Radical Islamist to Convention 'Interfaith Service'

Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 4:21:26 pm PDT

One of the participants at an “interfaith service” at the upcoming Democratic Convention is Ingrid Mattson—a deceptive shill for the Islamic Society of North America, one of the groups listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial: Radical Islamist to Appear at Democrat Convention ‘Interfaith Service’.

Hamas co-conspirators at an “interfaith service.” Welcome to the modern Democratic Party.

Too early.

10 slartybartfast  Sun, Aug 10, 2008 4:32:56pm

This should surprise no one. The Democrats rolled over long ago...

At last year's winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee, Husham Al-Husainy, Imam of the Karbalaa Islamic Education Center, a Shi'ite mosque in Dearborn, Michigan, offered the invocation.

As the great Robert Spencer said, "Many people in today’s Democratic party have contempt for religion, but they still have time for prayer."

Even the obviously biased Time poll shows McCain with a huge lead in the following areas:

Who would best handle the situation in Iraq (51% vs Obama at 36%)
Who would best protect the U.S. against terrorism (56% vs Obama 29%)

BTW: why do I think the Time poll is biased? This question:

"Would best be able to restore America's image in the world?"

The Macdonald Center for the Study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations is the country’s oldest center for such study.

The Macdonald Center challenges scholars, students, the media and the general public to move beyond stereotypes and develop an accurate awareness and appreciation of Islamic religion, law and culture.

It is committed to the premise that through intensive study and academically guided dialogue, mutual respect and cooperation between Muslims and Christians can and must develop.

CHAT PARTICIPANT: Does the Taliban place blame upon women for the weakness of men in their society? Is that why they place such restriction upon them?

MATTSON: The Taliban place restrictions on everyone in their society, men and women. They've extended their authority over individuals far beyond traditional government in Afghanistan. In their minds, they are protecting women from other men by placing these restrictions on them.

A full-blown Taliban apologist. Nice.

The Axis of Good:
Muslims Building Alliances with Other Communities of Faith

By Ingrid Mattson, Ph.D.
The St. Lawrence River is 1,900 miles long. Its wide mouth empties its flow into the Atlantic Ocean where buoyant whales and majestic icebergs drift throughout the summer months. The river begins more modestly where the northern and southern shores of Lake Ontario curve in towards each other, channeling the cold waters of the Great Lakes into the riverbed. We were born on the Canadian side of the river, but the island on which we lived was closer to New York State. This area is now called the “Thousand Islands,” but before there was a Canada, and before there was an America, the indigenous people called it “The Garden of the Great Spirit.” My brothers and sisters and I grew up in jannah.

Well, it really was beautiful. But we were, after all, children of Adam. And as the angels feared, we would make a mess of many things. To begin with, there was the question of those indigenous people. As children, we spent long July afternoons on the edge of the forest digging for their arrowheads, flints and pottery shards. But where had the people gone? No one thought much to talk about our own Cain and Abel story.

Then there was the question of what we did to the river itself. Flowing over deep layers of limestone, refreshed with generous rain and snow every year, the river seemed impervious to anything we might throw its way. And we did throw many things its way. In fact, lacking refuse collection services on the island, it seemed easiest to let the current “take it away.” I don’t know where all our tin cans and plastic wrappers ended up, but we deliberately sunk the old car nearby in the bay to create a good fishing hole. Little wonder that our children now catch only a few small perch and a rare undersized bass in a day.

Today in a Target parking lot, the most mixed bag I have ever seen (pun intended, sorry):

One middle-aged woman in western dress of a short-sleeve shirt and jeans, no head covering.

One older woman in a full Indian/Pakistani sari (no bare midriff), no head covering.

One teenage girl with a large headscarf, long-sleeved shirt, and long pants.

One guy in western dress, two boys the same.

Weird. I thought these traditions ran in entire family groups. This was like an OIS meeting in an SUV.

Reminds me of Mount McKinley, and endless others.

In all fairness, a great many native names have found their way into our wonderfully diverse language, which makes any other english idiom seem poor in comparison.

About 0.1% of the world's Muslims might actually agree with her moonbat version of Islam. And in her view its the other 99.9% that have it all wrong.

I can't seem to find anywhere where she specifically condemns FGM, honor killings, forced marriages, or stonings of rape victims. But from reading through all her tripe, I'm sure she would say those things have nothing to do with Islam, rather they are just cultural traditions.

re: #76 OldLineTexan

You'll see that in non-Muslim countries. The men will dress (for the most part) to blend in somewhat (they are free to do that, apparently), while the women are covered up pretty much. Thankfully, not as much as Saudi women are forced to, but you see that here, too.

104 lawhawk  Sun, Aug 10, 2008 5:32:27pm

Seriously though, it remains quite telling that you've got the Democrats sucking up to the Islamist fringe.

105 JammieWearingFool  Sun, Aug 10, 2008 5:32:48pm

Thanks for the link, Charles.

I'll note there's no chance the Democrats aren't aware of this woman's history. They could invite any Muslim, but deliberately have a ISNA Hamas shill.

Is there a doubt left whose side they're on?

Thus it comes as no shock they have a black liberation Marxist crackpot running their convention.

Obama obviously is very comfortable with these people.

They are all at least sixteen. The Chinese have provided appropriate papers to the IOC to assure their legitimacy.

The IOC intepreter branch is on vacation until December...

107 lawhawk  Sun, Aug 10, 2008 5:35:41pm

re: #102 6pat6

16. And there have been repeated whispers that the Chinese government lied about the ages of some of the gymnasts on their passports. Bela Karolyi knows a thing or two about totalitarian regimes doing stuff like that when he was with the Romanian team during the Cold War. He thinks the Chinese are still doing that kind of thing.

Those Chinese girls are just that - girls.

However, his take is that they should abolish the age requirements since if the girl can do what they can do at age 11 and compete in the Olympics, more power to them. I'm not so sure, as the age requirements are there as much to protect them from injury and exploitation as they are for any thing else.

Wasn't Nadia Comaneci 14 when she cleaned up back in 1976?

As far as I'm concerned, if they're good enough, who cares what age they are?

A friend of mine from high school was the world record holder in the 100m backstroke at 15, dominating men much older. He was on the 1980 team and would have crushed everyone in sight had we not boycotted; he still competed in 1984 and won three gold.

re: #100 Cognito

There is a lot of scandal about the age of the Chinese gymnasts. Some of the gymnasts who were 12 just a year or two ago suddenly became 16 for the Olympics. And another thing, the Chinese have denied visas for the alternate gymnasts on the team so if we have an injury tough beans.

114 Karridine  Sun, Aug 10, 2008 5:41:43pm

re: #107 lawhawk

Age requirements should STAY!

And for exactly the reasons you describe... unfair exploitation and injury to body and mind...

It took humankind more than 5,000 years of recorded history to set up some kind of protection for (some) children (some of the time), we do NOT need to reverse that, suddenly convinced that 11 and 12-year-olds somehow miraculously have the experience and (minimum) wisdom of 15-year-olds...

re: #121 ploome hineni

is this news to you?

Of course not. But in the case of Islam and Christianity in particular, Islam scoffs at everything about Jesus and then says, oh but we have great respect for him.

Its like you served a guest a dish. They taste it and spit it back out on the plate and gag. And then tell you how good it tasted and ask for the recipe.

To me it all boils down to this. Jesus said to love your enemy. Islam says to kill them. Good luck with the interfaith dialog.

135 American Jewess In Jerusalem  Sun, Aug 10, 2008 11:16:20pm

I attended my son's college graduation from a well known "Jewish" college, Brandeis. At the opening ceremony, there was a benediction offered. I assumed it would be given by a rabbi. After all, we had sent him to a Jewish university. No -- a Muslim imam complete with head turban and robes walked up on the stage and started to say a prayer. I walked out, as did about a half dozen others. The other five thousand attendees just sat there dutifully. I don't know what he said, and I don't care. I looked back over the 21 years in which I tried so hard to be a good mother and make the right choices, to walk the middle road, as one of our most revered sages counseled Jews, and not be too extreme in one direction or another. The fruits of my labor have resulted in a son who sees nothing wrong with a Muslim imam "praying" at a Jewish event.

Progress. It looks like the wave of the future.

re: #44 "turnspeak"
This reversion technique is also standard practice for postmodern deconstructive reversal technique in an "interrogation."

Here's a kicky description of its use in LAW:
"For Derrida, any hierarchical statements about a set of ideas A and B is an invitation for a deconstructive reversal--to show that the property we ascribe to A is true of B and the property we ascribe to B is true of A. Our deconstruction will show that A's privileged status is an illusion, for A depends upon B as much as B depends upon A. We will discover, then, that B stands in relation to A much like we thought A stood in relation to B. Indeed, it is possible to find in the very reasons that A is privileged over B the reasons that B is privileged over A. Having reversed the hierarchy, we are able to see things about both A and B that we had never noticed before..."
[Link: www.yale.edu...]

This bullshi* is common among "postmodern practitioners," as they like to be called. And, of course, postmodern foundations are derived from Heidegger, a member of the Nazi party until the day he died -- he refused to recant after repeated petitions from colleagues, over the years (he died in 1976). ...I'm still dazzled the Dems have gone this far over the edge, though. It's one thing to blab this crap in Bill Ayers' education classes. The complete take over of the Democratic party by a "trendy," postmodern, anti-democratic, anti-American, Third-Worldist, not-very-"crypto"-fascist fringe is a little more than I can fully grok -- even now. This IS sedition, fellow Lizards. Someone put acid in their Spam, for sure. But, they should have come DOWN by now! sheesh...

With the Reverend Leah D. Daughtry - Chief Executive Officer of the 2008 Democratic National Convention Committee AND Chief of Staff at the DNC - running things, she can make a "Radical Islamist" look like a butter-cup.

Reverend Leah D. Daughtry is a Black Liberation Theologist, preaching the hateful and racist doctrine of Black Liberation Theology from her Pulpit...below which usually hangs a banner promoting Reparations, that reads - “They Owe Us.”

Judging by Obama’s own words, this “They” probably means “white” Middle America:

"And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
