Please don’t talk sh*t , that man deserves what happened to him , simply because having the bible in one hand , and a bread in the other hand , is not a correct thing ,! Kill Them , Kill them , Kill them , that is my massage,!

Ah, the cyanide-laced plot thickens...

2 zombie  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:30:45pm

Are you saying that the dead guy with the cyanide was a Somali Christian - - or that he was threatening Christians?

3 zombie  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:30:55pm

It's a little unclear.

4 DoubleU  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:31:33pm

Just a little

5 GoJeepGo  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:31:55pm

is there a context to this post that could shed more light?

So who was he trying to Kill Kill Kill?

Threatening Christians.

9 ted  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:34:04pm

You would be shocked and amazed how easy it is to get cyanide.

10 HelloDare  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:34:07pm

Somebody should check to see what rabidroach at kos has in his cupboard.

11 Charles  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:34:13pm

It's a comment for a blog post. The blog post was asking what happened to a Somali Christian blog that suddenly stopped being active.

12 Bubblehead II  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:34:15pm

Totally OT, but I need some non political/subject info. And yes after this the Iron Fist rule come into force. but can someone point me to who did the theme songs for Deadliest catch an Ice Road Truckers?

13 zombie  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:34:39pm

Ah I see. Here's what I deciphered:

1. There was a Somali pro-Christian blog that documented the slaughter of Christians in Somalia by Islamic extremists.

2. The blog went defunct.

3. Another blog made a post speculating as to why the original pro-Christian blog disappeared.

4. On that post, " Abdirahman Dirie " came on and commented, "Please don’t talk shit , that man deserves what happened to him , simply because having the bible in one hand , and a bread in the other hand , is not a correct thing ,! Kill Them , Kill them , Kill them , that is my massage,!"

Hence, he was indeed likely an Islamic extremist threatening Christians.

Gotcha.

18 code red 21  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:35:20pm

So the cyanide man was also on a blog site talking about killing people...looks like he had some bad intentions in Denver if it is the same guy. I wonder if Homeland Security knows about the possible tie to the blog site and the possibility that cyanide man is the same person.

re: #2 zombie

Are you saying that the dead guy with the cyanide was a Somali Christian - - or that he was threatening Christians?

It's clear from the source posting that he approved of the murder of a Somali Christian.
It's impossible to tell if this is the same guy as the Denver corpse but "Abdirahman Dirie" is not all that common, especially among people who would be inclined to use colloquial English (as in Ottawa).
I could find only one reference to an Abdirahman Dirie who was definitely not our guy; Mohammed Abdirahman Dirie MD, a physician in Puntland.

Our drug dealers on East Colfax Ave. have a really good sense of humor. May Dirie though he had purchased some good blow, only to be fooled.

If this is the same person and he intended to harm Christians - or anyone for that matter - then thank goodness he had a work accident.

Scary either way, though.

34 the lizard  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:40:18pm

nice catch shiplord. our media here in denver isn't saying much about this case right now so it's intriguing to see this bit of info.

35 researchok  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:40:48pm

He was threatening Christians- that much is clear.

I suspect there are people in Canada who knew exactly what this guy believed- and didn't bother to tell anyone. If they had reported this guy, he would not have been allowed in the country.

I hope.

36 Sharmuta  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:41:09pm

37 Hard Right  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:41:23pm

I can only imagine his last words:

If this isn't my talcum powder than what is it? Uh oh!

38 lawhawk  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 7:41:53pm

Bad intentions? Certainly seems plausible.

However, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

1) We don't know what the materials were that were discovered in his room.
2) We don't know what the guy died of.
3) We can't yet confirm that this guy is the same as the one who posted those blog comments.
4) We don't know the guys intentions in Denver - that if the materials were indeed cyanide, who the intended victims were or motive.

This is definitely something to keep an eye on, but right now, it's a big mystery and the Denver PD is looking into it and suspect that the FBI and even Secret Service are looking into the matter as well. I am somewhat surprised that they think the tests to determine whether it was cyanide will take a few days to come back. You'd think that the chemical tests wouldn't take that long.

OT but noteworthy:

There have been a couple of more knife attacks since the original knifing at the Olympics against Chinese police. These have been planned since the attacks come ala SJS methods while the police are unarmed. (one attack a dumptruck rammed a formation doing exercises, the assailant then jumped out and continued the attack with a knife.)

I've noticed through the years that the standard answer to all reporters who ask the question of "How long will it take to get the results?" is "A few days". True, a lot can be done quickly, but they cover their a** for the one or two that may take awhile, or needs to go to another city for testing.

Either that, or they don't know and just wing it, knowing no one will call them on it.

re: #49 Thanos

OT but noteworthy:

There have been a couple of more knife attacks since the original knifing at the Olympics against Chinese police. These have been planned since the attacks come ala SJS methods while the police are unarmed. (one attack a dumptruck rammed a formation doing exercises, the assailant then jumped out and continued the attack with a knife.)

Very strangely that matches the biggest of the "otaku" murders in Japan. He drove a truck into a crowd then jumped out and started stabbing and slashing.

Not to be insensitive, but is there a cultural thing going on here that is common between China and Japan, or is it more a result of the lack of guns?

The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

In a fairly recent Chinese Kunf Fu movie, some shooting was going on and i remember the star fighter stood up and said "No Guns!" so everyone dropped theirs and fought "honorably" with their hands and feet. I always wondered if this was a stab at western values.

Having said that, guns are harder to come by, but "rogues" seem to like knives these days.

Are you saying that the dead guy with the cyanide was a Somali Christian - - or that he was threatening Christians?

To put it in context:
From the blog it looks like he was saying that the fellow mentioned in the article as killed by Muslims for converting to Christianity deserved to die, that a Bible in one hand and bread in the other was no excuse etc... somehow I suspect the Somali in question was not Christian...

Top 4 Worst Pets

Many of the rainforest lizards need special machines placed in their tanks to create mist. They need special food additives, such as cricket dust. They need special lighting fixtures to heat their tank. People just assume a lizard needs a heat rock and a water bowl. This is FALSE. A heat rock can literally BURN your lizard! Never, ever use a heat rock, despite what the pet store will tell you.

In addition, lizards, for the most part, do not want to be handled. Some lizards, especially Old World Chameleons, can DIE from stress if handled too much! They can also die from too many elements being changed in their tank on a consistent basis.

I hate it when I burn my lizard.

This is from the AP

DENVER - Authorities say a man who died of possible cyanide poisoning at a Denver hotel was 29-year-old Saleman Abdirahman Dirie from Ottawa.

And this came out a while back. Hawiye Elder Accuses Alshabab of Attacking his Clan

The spokesman of Hawiye clan elders Ahmed Dirie Ali has laid blame on Alshabab over the attack took place in Adaado town of Galgadud region central somalia that stuck between his clan militias and Alshabab Islamic fighters and he described that attack as specifically targeted for his “Saleman” clan by Alshabab fighters.

Maybe part of a gang war spilled over from Somalia.

No. The Jabberwock comes whiffling through the wood (and burbled as it came!). Our hero, he left it dead, and with its head, he went galumphing back.

For some strange reason, I have the poem committed to memory.

Could be that some people are seeing an opportunity to let the world know things aren't so hunky-dory in China.

And you missed being harassed and annoyed so much you bought a parrot? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Do you hunt for meteorites or go and buy them?

No actually I've had the parrot for about 15 years. Took him with me after the last marriage. We had 2 sun conures and a macaw, I let the wife have them. She killed all three of them from neglect. She did the same thing to the three dogs. Wasn't taking good care of them and they died.

I don't hunt, don't have the time/money. I buy, mainly bulk direct from some contacts I have in Morocco. Email and the internet makes it easy now a days. They post pictures of recent finds on the internet, they email me, I look over the rocks and haggle (always have to haggle) and then I Western Union them the funds. Then 2-3 month later, my box of rocks come.

I've never been screwed, these guys are honest (well, with me). The dealer passes the sale on to the actual owners of the rocks and the owner mailes me the stuff. Although once, a package was so badly addressed, that 6 months later, it wound up in upstate New York. Only reason I found it was that the guy that mailed it put my phone number on the package (about the only thing correct on the package) and the post office called me.

Jeez. Poor birds. Good thing you never had kids.

I've never heard of anyone collecting meteorites as a hobby, but it sounds interesting. Guess that meteor wanted more of a tour before coming to rest. About all I'm collecting these days is dust.

Big hobby. And the collectors/hunters add to MOST of the new research. Of course, the scientist don't like us owning the stuff, but, they don't have the funding to do as much as we do.

We have professional hunters in the business who personally finance hunts, find NEW stuff, and give the scientist and museums samples.

And a lot of time the hunters and collectors send the samples to labs themselves and pay for having them examined, which takes the cost off the scientist.

For every new find, researches get at least 20 percent of the rock from us. It works hand in hand. We want to know what we have, it increases the rocks value if we know, and science gets a free ride.

But, there are those scientist that think it wrong, wrong, wropng. That's life.

But not coyotes--as we here in San Diego have found out. Today's lost cat is tomorrow's coyote poop.

Here in the High Desert, "coyote" is pronounced "cat-owie".

OTOH, considering the size of the feral (and semi-feral) cat population in my neighborhood, the cats must've won.

FWIW, I must say, waking up to the sight of a 3-month old kitten flying through the air at your head is, umm... invigorating.

No, I suck at Salmon fishing in the rivers here. I get lucky once in a great while, mostly with a purple peril or olive green woolly bugger. Most of the time I'm just flinging around flies for no reason. I do love it though.

The trick is to set your hook 6-12 feet deep, get a bright red spinning lure. Salmon don't strike at food while they are on a run upstream to spawn, but they will strike at other Salmon's roe. Hence the bright red spinnning lure.

Get the Thomas Register and start at 'A' and just start sending letters. You will be surprised at the responses you get. Like "how did you know we were looking for an excellent engineer like yerself" and such.

And sometimes you never find one in your field. I was laid off after 15 years with the DOE. I'm now in my 50's. I have spent the last 3 years trying to land a full time job. I have sent out over 600 resumes. I've had some off and on contract work (I am a programmer of 30 years), but nothing steady. And I don't like contract work, you're never sure how long the down time will be.

The recruiters I worked with all told me the same thing, off the record of course, "age-ism." I'm 55, thet're all worried I'll die in my cube.

That's why I took the job at the theatre last year. I went from 80,000 a year to 18,000. It's fine 'cause I'm happy, but it's a shame that after all these years, business doesn't have any respect for my years of knowledge.

I started programming when we still had those frames with those beads on them.

Good point. I forget the name, but there is some drug that is imported from africa, sold mainly by Somalis, that produces a high and is generally unrecognized by police forces here. Anyone know what that is? Could it be the powder? I remember wondering why it wasn't uniformly illegal here.

I have an old Akita ('bout 13) and no other dogs give him any gruff--save few yappy ones. The local coyotes will steer clear of him--but that's when there's only one patrolling. I have no doubt that if we stumbled on a pack of them at night, they'd make a play for my big old guy.

They can be quite dangerous in a pack, and basically fearless.

That can be done here in the NW during the summer because the water is low and slow. During the falls and winter the water is fast and deep (and muddy) it's hard to get a lure to sink fast enough.

Works fine in the rivers in Alaska, they are nothing but racing grey glacial silt with some moisture mixed in.

I find a lot of "old" professionals end up consulting. It works well for the employer --not having to deal with the hassles of actually employing anyone AND the professional gets to do the work they want to do AND many end up making more money than they ever thought they would.

Of course, having a good network to begin with helps. I've seen it work, but the person has to be a risk-taker.

423 Shiplord Kirel  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 9:00:38pm

My first wife and I lived on a farm in the Texas Panhandle.
Wife #1 had only two virtues; she was quite good-looking (several virtues in itself, I suppose) and she was an expert shot, a nationally ranked trap and skeet shooter in fact.
We had coyotes around and, having been raised on Roadrunner cartoons, I took a live-and-let-live attitude toward them. So did the wife, until one of them killed her favorite cat. At that point, she declared war. Fortunately for the coyotes she wasn't as good with a rifle as with a shotgun.
It happens that we raised chickens, as well as cats, cattle, and grain sorghum. I loathed the vile birds so they were the wife's project.
One night we heard a commotion in the our backyard. The wife looked out and screamed that there was a coyote in the chicken pen. As far as I was concerned, the coyote was welcome to them but the wife demanded action, so I started to get dressed to go out and investigate. At that point, the wife decided that I wasn't moving fast enough, so she took matters into her own hands. She grabbed my Lee-Enfield rifle from the closet and aimed out the window, right through the screen (the window was open since it was summertime). I yelled, "DON'T FIRE THAT IN-"

BOOM!

She missed the coyote and hit a big rooster. The rifle had been loaded with Norma hollow-points. Feathers and various giblets were scattered over a large part of the backyard. The other chickens, the deceased rooster's presumed relatives, were standing around pecking at the remains, thereby affirming my already thorough contempt for their species.

Wife #1 and I have been divorced for 30 years now, though not because of her anti-coyote jihad.
She is still a good shot but her other virtues have vanished since she has gained 150 pounds during that time.

One of my dad's car-club friends has property that backs to an arroyo (aka "coyote highway") and keeps a loaded rifle by his back door... and has had to use it more than once.

If they're hungry enough, they'll go after domestic dogs that are bigger than they are.

A friend was on his tree stand, when he saw a coyote under him. He stuck it with an arrow. The animal was so full of mange, he left the arrow. I'll have to look, Its probably still in my woods.

Yeah, ageism is alive and well and it seems to start younger and younger every year.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not whining. I'm just a little fish in a sea full of others in the same position. I make do, it's my nature. And I was smart enough to see this coming and I started to downsize a number of years ago.

Yea, the ex-wife wasn't happy with the job situation, and that's why she left. And that hurt me credit wise, I had to take some hits I couldn't prevent.

But, I have a lot of friends, people who care for me, and won't let me go down, if I need help.

I know this sounds corny, but I feel I'm better off than I have ever been. Everything is much more simple. I am now working in a field that in the past was only part time. I've been involved with regional theatre for 40 years, now I do it for a living.

I'm not playing "keep up with the Jones'" anymore, I'm playing keep me, myself, happy, and that makes it easier for me to be nicer to everyone else.

Coyotes are cool. Plain and simple. They can adapt to anything we throw at them. They are only one small link away from domestication. Fact is that if you live in coyote country, it's up to you to keep track of your domestic animals. We encroach and they coyotes adapt, but it's a give a take. If you have a domestic dog/cat, do the right thing and keep them out of the wild and into your own pack. That means keeping them in the home, not the yard.

No. I live 12 miles West of downtown, in Golden Colorado, in the foothills (home of Coors). It's a bit like living higher up in the mountains (without the cost).

I do have to go downtown on Aug. 25th and 26th, doctors appointment, early morning, and I'm hoping to get out before the moonbats wake up.

I'll watch the circus from Golden, where the west begins.

Walter, I enjoy your posts and admire your attitude. What theatre troup are you associated with if you don't mind my asking. I'd love to take in one of its productions my next Colorado visit.

Coyotes have been known to hop 6 foot cinder block fences and kill pets out for a nightly tinkle in their own yard.

As an attorney, why consult, can't you just put-up your own shingle?

I know a few people in technical professions that will never go back to a "real job". It seems that while their specific knowledge is "too narrow" for one company it works well for many companies. Of course, they all travel quite a bit.

I guess it boils down to: How well can you market yourself and do you enjoy being on your own?

I do know an attorney that went on his own and is doing quite well. He is in a very specific field of litigation and as long as the laws remain as they are he'll be fine.

463 eastvillageinfidel  Tue, Aug 12, 2008 9:17:10pm

Coyotes have attacked all and killed one of my cousins' dogs. One was a medium sized pit bull mix that wasn't going without a fight and managed to fend off three coyotes but couldn't save the little poodle mix that eventually died from her wounds. I don't have much use for coyotes.

re: #454 realwest

Well I did some "consulting work" for about a year and while I did make more money gross, I got no benefits and no paid sick days, vacation or any of the rest of it.
And working 14 hours a day 5 days a week and at least a total of 10 between Saturday and Sunday as well.
"Consulting" is truly the new term for the unemployed of all ages. If you put down on your CV that you've been consulting since your last job cause you thought it might be a more lucrative way to make money, but the hassle of doing the accounting and everything involved in consulting besides doing what you are good at and enjoy doing, it seems to go over better with prosepective employers than simply "unemployed" or even "self-employed" (which is what a consultant is, anyway).

And a lot of employers don't think you are keeping up with the industry if you are consulting. And those "on the bench" times, they don't like to see those gaps.

And besides all the benefits that you miss out on, it seems like you are always saving for the dry periods, instead of doing something useful with your money.

And my bottom line is I get to tied to my code. I want to know that it's working, even after the project is done. I am more interested in the success of the project, not just fullfilling the terms of my contract.

And I like people, fellow workers. I don't feel comfortable just walking out when it is all over with. It's like getting laid off over and over.

I still do some small, one man projects from home, when I stumble across the work. At least I am in control of the whole project, and it gets done right, the first time.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to find out a bit about Team MPRI, I think it's actually MPRI, but can't find these jobs listed there.

They say they need civilian recruiters to recruit for the Army and Natl Guard. However, the guard recruiters I talked to were baffled. One thing that makes me wary of applying is this from the fact sheet:

* TEAM MPRI recruiters are expected to write two contracts each month. Any contract recruiter that does not average one quality contract each month will be considered unsuitable by the government. (You are expected to work the minimum of 40 hours a week in the recruiting station or areas of responsibility or whatever time it takes you to write 2 contracts in the Recruiting Contract Month. You are expected to pull your fair share of nights and weekend recruiting responsibilities)

I really don't think my sales skills are up to two contracts a month. One HAS to be a quality contract (processed all the way through). If you don't get both requirements you're canned.
But, it pays a lot more than other jobs in the region, and I'm not sure if any other vets heard about this opening.

I don't have much use for coyotes.

Wait until you're overrun by rabbits and squirrels that carry really obnoxious diseases. Coyotes help the balance, especially since pretty much every other large predator has been killed off. Just be conscious! You don't let a domestic dog or cat, who will be more curious than on guard, wander around in the dark in coyote country. It's just good sense.

Oh, they are VERY athletic. Not many fences can keep them out. Staying with your pets is the best way to protect them - our domestic cats/dogs don't have many weapons against a coyote and wouldn't know how to call on them in a pinch. You can probably do without the weaponry.

You got it, don't you? You know. It's hard to tell anyone, or teach them, it's sort of like "religion." You have to get it, some how, it's got to hit you inside.

Yep, and I don't know what tomorrow will bring. I just don't let that worry me anymore. Most of it is out of my control, so I've sort of "brought it back to the homestead."

I do what I can do for myself and my friends. I take care of me first, and that in turn, makes it easy to take care of friends.

I date off and on, but I have no "plans." I;ve gone through 4 marriages, so I know most of the red flags, both mine and thiers. So, if a red flag comes up, I don't try to fool myself anymore, I deal with it and either stop it or walk away from it.

I'm careful about "new" friends. I dont' take on burdens, there are people than can suck you dry.

I guess they call it wisdom. Too bad it comes with age, it would be nice to get it early on.

Course, by the time I DID go out on my own, I had a client base and was smart enough to develop the kind of practice that didn't require that I have a seperate office - met clients at their hotel rooms when they came in from out of town, rented conference rooms by the hour when necessary, etc. etc. Course if I had stooped to ambulance chasing I coulda made a fortune without ever stepping foot in a courtroom.

Guys, a little secret. You may have already tried this, but if you haven't . . .
I worked in H.R. for the state where I live. There are many many governmental agencies that actively seek to hire, either retired people or simply older people, because they are knowledgeable, reliable employees.

That being said -there's a lot to be said, I think, for simplifying your life. I fretted for a year before I retired - I was burned out, had nothing left to offer, but I knew if I worked for 4 more years, my retirement income would be substantially higher. I finally said to heck with it and went ahead and retired last year, 3 years earlier than I could have. It's the best decision I ever made. I'm busy, I'm not bored, life is simpler and I can pursue what interests me, instead of what I am required to do.

When I met her, she had shit for credit, but a good job with the city of denver in health care. But she was terrible at managing money.

I could manage money, so it was a constant battle, she would spend it, I would play with the finances and make sure I paid everythin before she could spend it, and when I lost my job, suddenly she didn't like me saying "no" to things.

Loved traveling around though. Thorton, Flatirons crossing, etc. I miss that, but Billings, MT is getting a lot of the things that were there now, hoping Dave and Busters in next.

re: #509 Walter L. Newton

I know, but she had a way of spending as much as she could. That's one of the big reasons she kicked me out, after I lost my job with the DOE.

I was just trying to make sure we didn't go under. But anyway, still loved the quality of your food.

I do too, I wish I could afford to buy from them.

I guess it's going to be one of those weeks. Now we have people posting links praising Meir Kahane, who started the terrorist group Kach.

You have good old fashioned, American common sense on your side.

re: #513 realwest

Yeah, I do get it. Long as I can stay involved in some charity work (for which I won't accept any payment) and do the rest of the stuff I like to do, I'm cool. And "I guess they call it wisdom. Too bad it comes with age, it would be nice to get it early on." is sorta true but hell, I've been married and divorced twice myself and I must say that I lived a long, very happy and "misspent" adolescence and I wouldn't have if I'd been as wise or smart in my 20's and 30's as I am today!

I mispent my youth with an accordion. I didn't even have my first date until I was 23 years old. First marriage was at 27.

I always worked. Started working two days after I got out of high school, never stopped. Didn't go to college. And in my spare time, I was always doing something in the local entertainment field. Musician, actor, magician, playwright, producer, clown, mind reader and so on.

Your right though, if I had that wisdom early on, maybe I wouldn't have taken some of the risks I did, or made some of the choices I made. And that would have certainly effected who and what I am today.

I guess that's what makes the ride so interesting.

Now you know why I live expat, in Thailand!

Its difficult, once in a while, without a 'credit card', but I'm doing what I want, when I want, with people I choose...

Can do it Stateside, too... So glad to read of your emancipation, Reine!

re: #514 Mars Needs Neocons Huh - well y'all could write to the DOD or if there are any Armed Forces Recruiting Stations near you, drop in and ask them (they'll probably bad mouth "the competition" but I'll bet money they know about "civilian" recruiters, at least in general if not that particular outfit).
And I do understand and empathize ENORMOUSLY with your wanting to stay home and be with all of your family.
I'm just plumb out of ideas for you, I'm afraid. I do know ONE THING FOR SURE - while you are looking for gainful employment, why not try working with some worthwhile charity (ies) for a while - it will help out folks who really need the help, increase or maintain your sense of self-worth, give you some "job satisfaction" that I NEVER got from a job - even jobs I loved and was IMHO excellent at doing - and hell, it really doesn't hurt the ole CV. And besides THAT, I know three people who found gainful employment while working for a charity! I worked for two larger charities (in terms of money we spent, number of people we helped) and had at least half a dozen job offers based ON HOW I DID MY JOB at the charity -and I'm not talking legal work either, just being able to organize, customize and watch every nickle and dime.

re: #240 spirochete

Good point. I forget the name, but there is some drug that is imported from africa, sold mainly by Somalis, that produces a high and is generally unrecognized by police forces here. Anyone know what that is? Could it be the powder? I remember wondering why it wasn't uniformly illegal here.

You are thinking of "khat", I believe. It's a plant product, I saw photos of some that was seized by cops in Edmonton. If you took Swiss Chard, and tied it in bundles, and dried it, it would bear a resemblance.

Definitely not a crystalline powder.

www.poetry.com/dotnet/P4818616/999/1/display.aspx Here's a weird, gooey poem by someone going by the name of Abdirahman Dirie:
"Love
Love is Blind
And it'll take over youre mind
What you think is love
Is truly not
You need to Elivate your mind
And I know to
Because Sirad I love you
No one touched me as such
I love you so much
Now, Before and Always.

Purely idle speculation here but are there any mega churches in Denver near his hotel?

Yeah, but I don't think the dude would come all the way from Ottawa to Denver to kill some people at a church. If he was on a terrorist mission it was more likely for the convention.

He may have had accomplices who took off when he bought the farm in the hotel room. You never know.... Where does one buy cyanide anyway? In large quantities?

A chemical supply company. Cyanide is very common as it is used in a variety of industrial applications. I'm not sure what type of permits you need, but I'm sure it's not too hard to fake one or buy some from someone who can get it legitimately.

Somali Supermodels

One is Waris Dirie (not related)

How do you know Waris Dirie isn't related to Abdirahman Dirie? Her father's name is only identified in her book "Desert Flower" as "Abo".

/merely coincidence?

Dirie fled Somalia at the age of thirteen because her father gave her in marriage to a 61-year-old man in exchange for five camels.

Not saying the 29-year old jihadist was her father (impossible)... but possibly an honor-enraged brother, cousin, clan-member...

Pound of cyanide found in room where man died

By P. SOLOMON BANDA, Associated Press Writer 27 minutes ago

DENVER - About a pound of highly toxic sodium cyanide was found in a hotel room where a man's body was discovered, authorities said Wednesday.

The Denver medical examiner was still awaiting test results to determine what killed Saleman Abdirahman Dirie, 29, of Ottawa. Police said they do not suspect foul play, and the FBI said there was no apparent connection to terrorism.

Dirie's body was found Monday in The Burnsley All Suite Hotel. Investigators said he had been dead for several days.

Fire officials said they found a bottle of the white powder in Dirie's room. Police said Wednesday it was cyanide..."

move along...nothing to see...
