Debunking the Obama Troofers

Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 2:57:08 pm PDT

Bob Owens smacks the Obama Troof Movement upside the head, with a good piece looking at the various boneheaded rumors being promoted by the likes of Larry “Michelle Obama Whitey Tape” Johnson: Dissecting Obama’s School Record.

Pajamas Media attempted to have the Hawaiian Department of Health (DOH) verify that the information publicly released in the COLB on the Obama site was accurate, making the argument that a public display of the document was in essence “disclosed by a public figure in a public venue for examination.” Janice Okubo, director of communications for the DOH, responded in an email message this morning:

Our attorney general advised us that Hawaii state law prohibits the Dept. of Health from verifying information contained in a vital record for anyone without a tangible interest. If Sen. Obama or his official representative requests a public verification that can be legally provided. Practically speaking, I believe that only the individual posting a document on a website can verify its authenticity.

The Hawaiian government can only release Obama’s birth records upon Obama’s request, and Obama won’t. Though they have twice been contacted by Pajamas Media regarding these allegations over the past month — and no doubt by other journalists and bloggers — the campaign has thus far refused to release the DOH from its obligation. This in no way means the document is inauthentic. It simply means that if Obama’s enemies are barking up the wrong proverbial tree, his campaign will not dissuade them from wasting time and resources.

Bingo.

Barack came down from the heavens and became man.

5 experiencedtraveller  Thu, Aug 14, 2008 3:02:50pm

1. He's a novice.
2. He's a socialist.
3. He is surrounded by questionable characters.
4. His voting record is very liberal.
5. He never met a pro-abortion law he did not like.

Ain't that enough? No need to make stuff up about the man.

I don't have a copy of my actual Birth Certificate, but an extract like what was posted for Barry. When I ask the State of California for a "copy of my Birth Certificate", that is all they will give me.

It was good enough to get a passport...

Laura Ingraham reported today that Obama has a half brother living in China from the father's fourth wife. He is an exporter of goods to the U.S.
According to the brother, Barry castigated him for straying from his Kenyan roots. The brother pretty much told him to Ef off.
He also said that their father was a drunken bum, who did not care for his family.

I don't doubt that he is. At the same time, it's a little odd that the candidates aren't required (formally or by tradition) to cough up the proof of their constitutional elegibility at the outset.

I'd add (once again :) ) that that is what the Obamites are hoping we do - waste time and resources on nonstarters like O's birth record.

I'm watching the Edwards coverage, and I expect that the closer the news stories get to the more dangerous territory - Edwards' campaign's financial cover-ups - the more the MSM and leftist pundits will try to steer the national conversation around toward the sexual allegations, the affair's time line, and the baby's paternity. The pos Edwards might make Barry look good to the more socially conservative by comparison, and is less of a loser topic for the DNC and the Obamites.

the campaign has thus far refused to release the DOH from its obligation. This in no way means the document is inauthentic. It simply means that if Obama’s enemies are barking up the wrong proverbial tree, his campaign will not dissuade them from wasting time and resources.

Ok. But still.....not releasing them DOES beg a lot of questions. I agree that it could be a silence based on causing a scramble, only to whip it out at the peak of the maelstrom. But still..... A presidential candidate is jacking around with this kind of info? One thing about the advent of blogs - they are the terriers of information. The campaign can't think that this will occupy too much overall campaign time of the opposition. Therefore, if it is a deliberate silence, based on nothing, it shows their contempt for the 50% of Americans who are leery about BHO. If is deliberate because there is a problem.....then they have a problem.

This goes back to trust. If you plan to be in the game a long time, you need to be dependable.

Pimping BS hysteria might get you temporary page hits, but it's not worthwhile in the long run.

I occasionally tread into that turf when I reprint some of what's said in the Pakistan papers for instance, and I"ve been wrong on two recent calls because of it. I hate it when that happens.

Obama's website frontpage (nor anywhere else that I could find) doesn't have one statement on his position on the Georgia/Russia conflict. McCain's has three. On the frontpage. Obama's lead on his site is bragging about his new TV ad.

Leadership is the question. McCain is the answer.

Barry has already said the Georgian crisis is "overblown", and that's all he has to say on that.

Okay, that's more true than most people realize -- but the Honolulu Advertiser addressed the birth certificate issue yesterday, interviewing several people down at Vital Stats. It would have to be a vast left-wing conspiracy at this point. The director down there said they get asked for a copy of this at least once a week.

Slightly O/T -- is this a hatchet job or what? I don't know why she didn't just come right out and call Jerome Corsi a liar -- oh, wait, because that would be editorializing. I get it.

If the shoe were on the other foot, ala SeeBS, Dubya and TANG, there would be no backing down ...even if the facts indicated otherwise.

In this case there are no facts to support either argument. We have heard from Snopes that the Constitution says everything is fine (it doesn't), we have heard from Pajamas Media that Obama registered for the draft (so what?). What we have not seen is an Obama COLB or a respected legal opinion of the law regarding Barry's status as a natural born citizen. We cannot get the second piece without the first.

So who is stonewalling who and why did Kos get involved? The answer is that the far left wants this Swift Boat to sink.

The book is a compilation of all the innuendo and false rumors against Obama — that he was raised a Muslim, attended a radical, black church and secretly has a "black rage" hidden beneath the surface.

The problem with Barry is that there's nothing beneath the surface...hidden or otherwise.

The worst possible way to get people to pay attention to Obama's connections to radicals is to have someone like Corsi write a book about it. He's a nut, and this will make it very easy for the media and everyone else to dismiss everything he says, true or not.

Yeah, it's real easy to castigate others for refusing to "embrace" the squalor of Africa from a Hyde Park mansion.

Hey Barry, I've got a great idea. How's about you and Michelle take the girls to live in Kenya with the cousins? Embrace your (deserting, drunken bum) father's roots.

It's a terrible scan. The better one, that Kos had/has, is identical to my daughter's Hawaiian birth certificate in looks, down to the crappy looking state seal and the evidence of a notarization in the right place, on the back of the certificate but with the imprint and ink bleeding through just enough that you can tell it's there.

If it's not a real cert, we'd have to have the physical original in our hot hands with a left-winging Vital Stats employee telling us that it's a fake in order to prove it. Seriously, this one should be put to bed.

Most states computerized records, when you want a new BC the print one on modern form from the database and certify it.

That would explain a lot. But that cannot be a copy of the original birth certificate.....

i remember steak and shrimp as a dinner option, in coach class, when i was a wee lizard. mentioned it to an FA who offered a choice of chicken or vegetarian lasagna, and she stared at me in amazement & asked, "how long have you been flying this airline?!" And that wasn't exactly recently, either.

I know airline travel used to be a lot different.
I recall my father putting on a coat & tie & my mother dolling up.

It gets me that this is an issue at all. Hawaii was a state when he was born, his mother was American. What I would expect is some stupid thing on his certificate like making him a citizen of Kenya. That would not matter one bit though. He was born here, and upon reaching the age of majority had a choice of citizenry. He could have picked Kenya, the land of his father, or the USA. Saddly, he picked the USA.
Hwat is on the certificate will not matter unless by some freakish blunder, his mother was outside the USA when he was born, and that did not happen.
The only other thing on his BC that could matter is his name. He might be something else, but raised BHO. Heck, my father was born Benjamin, but was called Robert, or Bob all his life. It was heck when he retired since he paid into SS as Robert, but Robert did not technically exist.
Almost like Minnesota's idiot former governaturd Jesse "the body but no brain" Ventura.

re: #225 sattv4u2

as I stated in my #198, the last thing I want to hear is the left and their childish "nahh nahh boo boo, told you he was born here" crap

Purely being Devil's advocate, the "zinger" on his birth certificate isn't that he wasn't born in the USA (who cares, he was issued a certificate by the State of HI, effectively the same thing even if it isn't literally true), its that his religion is listed as something other than "Christian" or that the name or even birthdate on his certificate aren't the same as the ones he's got now.

But the point is, even if the most outlandish theories are true, they wouldn't matter anyway. Whatever is written on that piece of paper is mainly the doing of his parents when he was at most a few days old, not the man himself.

Not only do the people pushing this have no credibility, the whole thing is a big red herring anyway. Even if the most outlandish stories are true, there's barely a "gotcha" there at all.

Consequently, there is no upside to chasing this smoke, which is Charles' point.

City Would Photograph Every Vehicle Entering Manhattan and Sniff Out Radioactivity
The Police Department is working on a plan to track every vehicle that

enters Manhattan to strengthen the city’s guard against a potential terror attack, the department’s chief spokesman said.

The proposal — called Operation Sentinel — relies on integrating layers of technologies, some that are still being perfected. It calls for photographing, and scanning the license plates of, cars and trucks at all bridges and tunnels and using sensors to detect the presence of radioactivity.

I think a candidate for U.S. President should be willing to show his or her Birth Certificate.

Not that this applies to Senator Obama, however if the name on the Birth Certificate of a candidate for our presidential leader were different or somehow unflattering, or the father isn't listed, and the person is forthcoming with the truth to his or her supporters --- that's testimony to a leader.

How can any U.S. citizen vote for a person who REFUSES to prove he or she was born under the the U.S. Constitution? For a free human being, there's no shame in a name, only the opportunity to prove our common potential.

Senator McCain was born extra-territorially in Panama, under U.S. occupation, to a worker in the U.S. Navy, so he can't challenge the territorial eligibility of Senator Obama's birth. (People in glass houses should not cast stones.)

Wouldn't it be ironic if Sen. McCain won the presidential election, and Sen. Clinton sued both Sen. McCain and Sen. Obama as being constitutionally unqualified by birth for the office of president, and proved that she had the next highest number of electoral votes of an eligible candidate?

In the same vein as this idiocy about the birth certificate, there's the "Obama is the anti-christ!" -- this right now is being proffered by some CNN "news" program...I won't bother watching it...(I did see the preview clip -- the CNN "news" program is blaming the idiocy about Obama on the McCain camp and that ad...)

Its about like the race issue. Its only being mentioned by the Obamanation himself.

/and even in 2008, that issue alone will cost Obama a lot of white voters, it's just an unfortunate fact, the Bradley effect

Do like Charles has done here. Refuse to acknowledge it is worthy of consideration. Explain that Hawaii was a state, his mom was American, and the rest doesn't matter. State up front on the post that there are too many reasons to adamantly reject his empty shirt to even bother with research into it.

Pardon my ignorance but I hadn't seen anything on this issue lately and I thought it was a sleeping dog. Did I miss something?

re: #401 stryker

Senator McCain was born extra-territorially in Panama,
And Obama extra-terrestrially.

McCain's situation has been addressed by specific example before.... look it up.

How can any U.S. citizen vote for a person who REFUSES to prove he or she was born under the the U.S. Constitution? For a free human being, there's no shame in a name, only the opportunity to prove our common potential.

Here's a hint, be the first on your block, or anywhere for that matter to:

/file a Federal lawsuit alleging that Obama isn't eligible to run for President, naming both Obama and the State of Hawaii as defendants, hope to get to Discovery

Went to the other thread and have zero interest in the subject, so here's the lawyer joke.
Air force-one is in flight when all the engines burst into flames and the A/C plummets to the ground. On board are four passengers; the president, a boy scout, a catholic priest and the world's smartest lawyer. There are only three parachutes available. The president grabs the first chute, "The country needs me!" and dives out of the plane, the worlds smartest lawyers grabs the second chute and dives out of the plane, "My clients need me!", the Catholic priest looks at the remaining chute, and tells the boy scout "My son you have so much to live for, you take the last parachute". The boy scout looks at the priest and replies. Don't sweat it father, the worlds smartest lawyer jumped out wearing my back-pack!"

Hawaiians will back up Hawaiians.

I was born in Hawaii and I don't back him up.

I personally believe he was born in Hawaii. However, I would argue that it is a "tangible interest" when somebody runs to be president of the US that this fact be verified. Unfortunately, the court system does not work in the manner that it issues "advisory" opinions. One has to bring a case involving real people, real events, etc. This makes it difficult to parse the natural born citizen vs. citizen naturalized at birth problem that BO has. I am actually surprised that one of the PUMAs has not brought a case to court over this. Oh well. the whole issue may be settled by the Obama and co. making total fools of themselves at the convention with recreate68 and others.
