9-11 Troofer's Book Debuts at Number 1

Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 11:52:22 am PDT

Jerome Corsi’s new book on Barack Obama debuted at number one on the New York Times list. But I was surprised and dismayed to learn that Corsi is a 9-11 Truther.

For me, and I suspect for many others, that is a huge, honking red “no-credibility” flag.

David Freddoso’s book, although I have not read it yet, looks like a much better bet: The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media’s Favorite Candidate.

UPDATE at 8/15/08 12:41:05 pm:

Corsi has also appeared several times on the vile white nationalist radio show Political Cesspool, a favorite haunt of David Duke. Excuse me while I retch.

As usual, the Obamanoids will have a collective shit fit about this. Can any one spell R-A-C-I-S-T?

I've been hearing about Freddoso's book and the conservative talk-radio shows have been having him on to discuss and promote it - sounds very well researched. I've never heard of this other guy.

Great thread, Charles.

There are many people, it seems, who are willing to pick through the chaff in search of some stray wheat, in this guy's work. Unfortunately the chaff is toxic.

We don't need this guy to tell us about Obama's failings. Better men can do it.

Corsi is also a North American Union conspiracist.

Just the same, if the bulk of what he alleges in his Obama book is true, then it is true. Regardless of his views on other matters.

Not that his views on other matters won't be used as a basis for an ad-hominem counter attack, which the MSM will only be too proud to promote.

In related news, Howard Dean has declared that the GOP is "the White party".

It will be a race between Corsi's attacks on Obama versus the left's attacks on Corsi, to see which has more impact between now and November 4th. Could get interesting.

15 nikis-knight  Fri, Aug 15, 2008 12:00:13pm

Hugh Hewitt was talking about the Obama response to this book last night, trying to debunk it but (in his opinion) only succeeding in keeping names like Rezco and Ayers in the news.

39 lawhawk  Fri, Aug 15, 2008 12:05:38pm

It doesn't take Corsi's book to realize that Obama is a leftist (depending on who you talk to or the day of flip flops occurring, he could be considered a socialist, Marxist, or communist). I put him squarely in the socialist camp with his consistent drumbeat of redistribution of wealth through the tax system. His policies have been tried before and failed miserably, and the American standard of living would suffer horribly for them.

Still, there's nothing stealthy about Obama's politics - every time he opens his mouth to discuss economic and social policy, the trappings of socialism is pervasive. The imagery associated with his campaign is taken verbatim from socialist and Soviet propaganda. The only thing perhaps missing is a Five Year Plan (he might have a 10 year plan or two, but that's probably an oversight).

Corsi definitely loses credibility because of his troofer ties - and given how I work just blocks from the WTC, I find it grossly offensive to say the least. I just hope it doesn't detract from the message others are saying about Obama (that Obama's supporters will smear Corsi and by extension anyone else who looks at his book as a source) - because Obama is carrying on with a socialist agenda. Of course, there's a further problem for Obama (the solution to which is dissembling and cognitive dissonance) in that many of his own supporters are troofers who are prone to thinking that Bush orchestrated the war in Iraq, 9/11 and any other number of events to further an oil agenda.

Amero Conspiracy supporter
Has no problem appearing on racist / fascist program The Political Cesspool (which also hosts racists like David Duke and holocaust deniers like Mark Weber)

That's 4 major strikes as far as I am concerned.

I don't read WND as much as I used to because they provide Corsi with a platform for his conspiracy mongering....and I don't intend on reading his book. I will read Freddoso's as he doesn't have the credibility challenges that Corsi does (that I am aware of).

No TFK, but for John O'Neill and the other Swift Boat vets. Corsi only told their story....using their facts.....that Kerry couldn't or wouldn't refute using his full and open military records. That combined with his Winter Soldier actions contrasted completely with his attempt to "Report for duty" and run on his military record.

It would help if our higher education system restored logic and math into core curricula rather than having discarded them to make room for softer subjects.

We have many people with degrees who will tell you "I don't do math" and many more who will tell you how important feelings are.

111 Quilly Mammoth  Fri, Aug 15, 2008 12:22:45pm

The devil's in the details with Corsi. He footnote's and quotes a great number of people in his writing. Looks real scholarly. But if you leave certain things out it changes what really happened. Corsi, and others like him, have made a mantra recently of "avoiding foreign entanglements". Many have heard it form Corsi , Ron Paul and others. And George Washington _did_ say it. However, he said it context of French Agents active in America, spending lots of money and working hard to shift public opinion to an alliance with France against Great Britain. Which would have been a disaster for us as we had no real Army at the time and would have been a huge benefit for France.

John O'Neil worked very hard to keep Unfit for Command focused on matters that were mostly public record. He worked to avoid making claims that were circumstantial evidence at best of cabals and plots.

It's often not what you report, but rather what you leave out. Which is how the Troofers operate. And Corsi is a conspiracy Troofer indeed.

It takes different forms depending on the truth speaker describing it, but it is a north south multilane freeway with very few on ramps and off ramps that would be cut right through America's heartland in order to move goods and armies between Canada and Mexico.

Different versions have the highway being elevated and surrounded by barbed wire so that the aboriginals of the heartland (eg Kansans) would not be able to attack it or use it in any way.

All part of a great conspircay to rob us of our wealth, freedom and dignity.

Group tied to al-Qaida backs McCain for prez

By Jerome R. Corsi

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has enjoyed strong support from a lobbyist group that backs the Kosovo Liberation Army despite allegations the KLA is a Muslim terrorist group with ties to criminal drug networks and al-Qaida.

The Albanian American Civic League, or AACL, regards the KLA as "freedom fighters," said the AACL's president, former Republican congressman Joe DioGuardi of New York.

They're "not terrorist, like the Serbs and Greeks say," DioGuardi insisted in an interview with WND.

But Islam expert Robert Spencer, editor of the popular website Jihad Watch, contends radical Islam is the driving force behind the Kosovo independence movement.

"There is no excusing the excesses of the Serbs under (former President Slobodan) Milosevic, but there is no denying also that jihadists have been pouring into Bosnia and Kosovo, preparing to use them as a base for jihad activity in Europe – and we have been helping them," Spencer told WND.

re: #136 WriterMom

It's not the video - just an article from the site that is selling (I used the term humping - probably not the best choice of words) the video. Here's the meme:

In this brand-new video, Corsi, a staff reporter for WND, offers convincing evidence the Security and Prosperity Partnership is laying the groundwork for the unthinkable – a merger of the U.S., Mexico and Canada into a European Union-type "North American Union," complete with a shared judiciary, open borders and a new currency designed to replace the dollar – the amero.

In The Late Great USA: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada," Corsi showed how a bureaucratically entrenched army of "world citizens" is working tirelessly toward this EU-like merger. In the brave new world they envision, the U.S. will no longer be a sovereign nation, but a market designed for maximum economic exploitation by multinational corporations and foreign governments, regardless what American citizens want.

In the video, Corsi explains:

How globalist business leaders and taxpayer-funded academics are deliberately side-stepping the Constitution – and Congress – in order to submerge the U.S. into a regional government.

How the state of Texas is seizing millions of acres of privately owned land so that foreign investors can cash in on a NAFTA “superhighway” from Mexico to the Canadian border.

How China, through its proxies in Mexico, plans to bring the world’s sole superpower to its knees economically – without firing a shot.
The North American Union would not just be the end of America as we know it, explains Corsi, but the beginning of an EU-like nightmare – a bureaucratic coup d'etat foisted upon millions of American citizens without their knowledge or consent.

The Security and Prosperity Partnership is not just unconstitutional, says the best-selling author, but an act of treason committed at the highest levels, one that must be stopped before the U.S.A., as a free and sovereign nation fades into history.

If you have the time / effort to weed through the stuff on WND by Corsi, it is an eye opener over how paranoid this guy is and the leaps that are needed to fit a few facts into the conspiracy. (Like every good conspiracy, there are a few facts strategically emplaced to provide fodder for the conspiracy.)

As long as you guys keep those beer and bacon trucks moving I have no problem.

Unfortunately, the part routed through Texas has been shown to be much less of a conspiracy than a plain old land and money grab by special interests and their pet politicians.

The "right-of-way" that was to be condemned for this monstrosity was enormous, and much of it was to be parceled out to new private owners for personal enrichment.

The same Kerry who sought to cut intel, military budgets, and raise taxes time and time again.

Facts in the book are what count,

There are many books that are the greatest ever written, yet the nut case who wrote them was a laughing stock to all who knew them when they were alive.

Go get the book if the facts are bad that's it, but if the facts are correct, that is another thing, and there is the free speech thing,
there is nothing that can prevent Corsi from blah, blah like a loon.

He has a right to say, "I think Obama's prior use of drugs may cause him to use now, he may be using now and or he may use once he gets the job and can not handle it.

Just look at the post tfk does here on lgf's.

Thank you for that brilliant insight. I think you hit it on the head. I admit I'm dissapointed, I really thought this guy was sane.

The information is key. Now if someone else will look into Corsi's allegations, and write another book, then we'll have something less attackable.

The Case Against Barack Obama, looks ok, my main complaint is that the writer keeps saying Barack is an exceptional politician and a run of the mill liberal. I can't personally agree with either statement.

Discord With Russia a Worry for NASA

NASA's ability to send its astronauts to the $100 billion international space station is in danger of becoming a costly casualty of the Russia-Georgia war.

Because the American fleet of space shuttles will be retired in 2010 and the United States won't have a replacement ready until at least 2015, NASA wants to negotiate a contract this year to have Russia's Soyuz spacecraft transport all astronauts traveling to and from the station during the gap.

Actually, I've been most influenced by listening to what Barack Obama says and how he has ran his campaign. He is basically an empty suit. He doesn't stand for much of anything, just repeats the mantras of "Change" and "Hope".

Hope that the change is a good change, I guess.

In his life of "public service" he has left few traces except being radically pro-abortion (to the point of being pro-infanticide). He's also pro-gun control, which is a sure vote-loser for me.

But worse is how he has run his campaign. His primary victory, and his hopes for the general election, rests on the creation of a cult of personality that is downright frightening. He appears to revel in this, as though he has bought into the worship of himself. We don't need some wannabe god as President. Everywhere that has been tried it has been a disaster.

That's enough reason to vote against Obama.

But!

Murder of someone is unacceptable, yes even if that person is dressed in a manner different that the norm. Blaming anyone for the manner in which he was dressed implies that there was something blame-worthy (in relation to the murder) with his dress.

No. The blame is entirely on the murderer, not the dress of the victim.

Gifted Student Hospitalized After Drinking Liquid Nitrogen

PRINCETON, N.J. — A gifted 15-year-old student from India had to be rushed to the hospital after drinking liquid nitrogen during a science class at Princeton University.

The class was part of a program run by the Connecticut-based Summer Institute for the Gifted. It isn't affiliated with the university.

The students were performing a popular experiment in which liquid nitrogen is used to make ice cream.

Nitrogen liquefies at negative 328 degrees Fahrenheit — cold enough to cause burns.

The Summer Institute said the boy was in critical condition and has been upgraded to stable.

I hope he gets well, but that was.......STUPID.

This is a pretty major blunder for McCain to make. Obama should hit this and hit it hard repeatedly. What, exactly, does John McCain find so hilarious about Corsi's comments about the Pope and 9/11 being an inside job? That's a question the media should follow up on, don't you think?

This reflects very poorly on McCain. It almost makes me wonder if this is intentional. Afterall, Corsi believes McCain is funded by al Qaeda.

If the school had told the kid he couldn't wear makeup, the parents would have probably sued for violating his freedom of expression. Sometimes you just can't win.

Teachers are the passive aggressive types who want to complain about disorder and the lack of a good learning environment but do not want to be saddled with actual responsibility for what is going on around them. The unions always fight efforts to install dress codes and give teachers the authority to step into the hall and control the behavior of students.

Not to sound like a conspiracy nut myself, but this business with Corsi and his book sounds like the "release credible information via incredible sources" tactic.

It won't be hard for the Obama team to paint this guy as a loon and a racist, which will likely have the effect of deflating all his claims (credible or not) and the claims of others that are similar.

The "Bacon" Test [Greg Pollowitz]

Senator Obama has released a 41-page rebuttal to Jerome Corsi's Obama Nation. This has to be my favorite:

LIE: “Obama always acknowledged his stepfather was Muslim, though he did his best to downplay Islam as an important force in his stepfather’s life.” [p 58]

REALITY: LOLO WAS A NOMINAL MUSLIM

Lolo Soetoro Was A “Nominal Muslim” Who Enjoyed Bacon. “The grandparents who helped raise Mr. Obama were nonpracticing Baptists and Methodists. His mother was an anthropologist who collected religious texts the way others picked up tribal masks, teaching her children the inspirational power of the common narratives and heroes. His mother’s tutelage took place mostly in Indonesia, in the household of Mr. Obama’s stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, a nominal Muslim who hung prayer beads over his bed but enjoyed bacon, which Islam forbids.” [New York Times, 4/3/07]

The 9/11 hijackers drank alcohol at strip clubs in Florida, another practice forbidden by Islam. Were they "nominal Muslims," too?

Either way, this 41-page document is more of a reference guide for the media, lefty pundits and lefty bloggers than it is an actual "we won't be swift-boated" response. If this is all he has with which to answer Corsi, consider Obama already 'boated.

Also of note, David Freddoso's book, The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate, is not included in this analysis. It's hard to "fight the smears" when the "smears" are the "facts."

This reflects very poorly on McCain. It almost makes me wonder if this is intentional. Afterall, Corsi believes McCain is funded by al Qaeda.

If the Obamatons do make it a big issue, there are several avanues to fight back -

1) So it is OK to heap scorn on McCain regarding associations of an Obama critic, when it isn't OK to question any of Obama's long time personal, political and professional associations?

2)Isn't this the sort of "distraction" that Obama himself like to point out? Shouldn't we be concerned with issues? Like an ascendant Russia threatening a nuclear strike against a NATO member, while Obama talks of getting rid of missile defense systems as well as our nuclear weapons?

I hope they make an issue of it, frankly.

Mmm, that is weird. I mean usually troofers hate Bush, you know, and while McCain is not bush, you would tend to assume they are not crazy about McCain, either.

I would say this. Some facts are just facts. If he has citations and can prove them, independently, then fine. Its a little like the people who attacked your Rathergate .gifs because you are seen as "right wing" (which is a gross oversimplification). But even them it doesn't matter. Anyone can do what you did: type the letter into an new copy of Word and voila, the TNG memos! Its an experiment. Likewise, if he says William Ayers is a terrorist who committed this bombing and that bombing, and he cites to, say, a criminal conviction or even Ayers' own words, then you can't ignore it just because Corsi said it. But on the other hand if it is based on evidence we can't verify, then nope, don't trust it.

Or save your time and find a trustworthy source agaisnt Obama. I am sure there will be no shortage of books pointing out that we shouldn't vote for the unqualified one.

Maybe in fact Corsi is part of the Troofer conspiracy, a la South Park, where thousands of government agents spread the theory that 9-11 was done by the US government so people will think that the government is competant enough to pull of the whole thing. (If you have seen the episode of South Park on the Troofers, you will get the joke. If you haven't, you MUST watch it. Its a classic, not the least of which for their take on the hardy boys. No and I wonder why you are trying to start a fight with me on this thread. There is a real problem with dysfunctional organizations, a prime example being public school bureaucracies, attracting people who create an atmosphere that drives out functional competition. On some level government employs people, particularly in the case of teachers, who avoid individual responsibility and tolerate an unproductive work environment. They are also highly prone to collecting grievances, not to actually improve a situation but in order to generate enough friction that management chooses to leave them alone. This is a part of why the public schools are such poor places for children to grow up in.

They are also highly prone to collecting grievances, not to actually improve a situation but in order to generate enough friction that management chooses to leave them alone. This is a part of why the public schools are such poor places for children to grow up in.

I'm not "trying to start a fight" with you.

He comes across like he's got this ground-breaking unique view- and after you listen to him angrily ramble on -you realize he has nothing new to offer-- just the same tired talking points that have poured out of the paranoid troofer left. Mostly Ventura hates Bush and the war and so Kerry by default becomes a real war hero (never mind the facts).

wow ,, where to even start? Are there bad teachers? YES (but you could just as well substitute the word TEACHERS for POLICEMEN, ACCOUNTANTS, LAWYERS, McDONALDS COOKS, etc etc) So what we have to decide is it the chicken or the egg? Most teachers don't really have much of a say if any at all in curriculum nor discipline. That is done at the school board level. Most teachers also don't have a say as to what their union does. They are forced to join the union as a part of the condition of employemnt.

I agree with just about everything you say. We have the capacity to look at this system and ask why it is so incredibly wasteful of human talent. The schools are a socialist activity. Not everyone in them is evil but it encourages poor conduct. My only "shocking" contribution here is really to point out that the unions and the teachers have a vested interest in not taking charge as they would if they were professionals in a private business. Management may complain but they on some level are comfortable with these conditions.

It's very noble for CNN to be all of a sudden concerned with smears and innuendos. They did not seem to have quite that level of nobility when Scott Mcclullen (forgot how to spell) published his hit piece.

/well, for all the slackers who spout that we were asleep at the swich here, U.S. officials say they warned Georgia to avoid fight

We weren't asleep just a little slow off the mark, IMHO.

In the six days since the simmering conflict between Russia and Georgia erupted into war, Bush administration officials have been adamant in asserting that they warned the government in Tbilisi not to let Moscow provoke it into a fight and that they were surprised when their advice went unheeded.

Given Russian / Soviet history in these matters, Georgia may not have been provocative, Russian would be willing and able to engineer the provocations to justify there response. No proof to my assertion other than the historical record of exactly that happening before.

As you know, Wiki can be edited by anyone and often is. Have you got an independent source for Corsi's purported remarks?

How unfortunate about this book. I had heard (on a CNN program) that the book was full of smears and innuendos...This sort of tactic could easily back-fire -- make Obama into an object of pity, etc., and rally the sympathy votes...(If the book is as moronic as what some are stating, I wonder how it ever came into print -- I mean, if you want smears, innuendos, rumors and lots of vile gossip, one needs only turn to the Internet...I wonder who the publisher is...)

Think CNN would care to be specific about what consists of smears and innuendos? I think here at LGF the consensus is that "Swiftboating" was telling the truth about Kerry. I don't think CNN and MSNBC think that rather think that Oneill and Corsi smeared Kerry.

Corsi footnotes his statements.
Read the book & decide for yourself.

I can write a book that footnotes every Southern Victory and stop it at Gettysburg leaving the notion that the South won the war. As someone who does historical research for _pay_ here's the kicker(albeit a second job). When you use articles _you_ wrote as source material and put it the bibliography it should raise all kinds of alarms. Corsi does that.

That's not the problem.
The problem is the messenger, a troofer who goes on Alex Jones radio show.

If we use these points in arguing against BHO, the issues gets tied to Corsi and his associations. As true as the assertion may be, Corsi becomes unnecessary baggage.

Like I pointed out, discarding the truth because you despise the messenger is so very leftist and so very politically correct and so very below us. I refuse to allow the left to set the terms of debate.

I don't know jack shit about Corsi or his associates. I haven't read the book past flipping through the footnotes. If there is anything in those footnotes I can independently verify and use, I won't hesitate for one second. If the facts are independent of Corsi, it doesn't matter who repeats them.

510 StinkHammer  Fri, Aug 15, 2008 2:21:49pm

Well . . . Corsi's questionable (to say the least) beliefs about 9-11 and his appearance on white nationalist-type media outlets -- as whacko and vile as they may be -- do not, unfortunately, translate into the logical conclusion that his Obama book is therefore lacking in all credibility. I'd hope that critiques of his book would rest on its own merits (or lack thereof), not simply a dismissal because he displays questionable judgement on other matters. Facts remain true despite the conduit through which they appear, and if Corsi's book contains either facts or untruths about Obama, they should be investigated for what they are.

Strange, I heard Corsi interviewed this morning on the G. Gordon Liddy show (XM radio, about 11:50 AM Eastern Time). Corsi categorically denied being a troofer and said that he accepted the findings of the 9/ 11 Commission. His denial sounded genuine. He was not asked about the other accustaions that Charles has pointed out.

He may have denied it, but he's on tape praising the crackpot Steven Jones.

And he's not denying appearing on a neo-Nazi radio show.

I have seen some of the 41 pages Obama's campaign has put out. It really doesn't look like "errors, lies and half truths" to me. The very first one attacks a statement from the book that says that Obama was born a muslim and follows black liberation theology. Obama's campaign says he is Christian and attends Trinity United Church of Christ.

That doesn't seem like enough to prove the statement from the book untrue to me, since Obama's father was muslim, meaning that Obama was indeed born muslim according to the muslims, and Trinity, despite the Christ in the name, is indeed a "church" that follows black liberation theology and one that many Christians would consider to be very far off message.

I think you can easily download the 41 pages from Obama's Fight the Smears website and see what you think yourself, just from what you already know about Obama.

re: #526 Charles

This is a key point.

If we make the same arguments, defend and accept Corsi, then we will be painted with the brush that associates us with the nutter viewpoints that Corsi possess.

It's fundamentally no different than partnering or accepting the Euro-fascists will negatively taint and paint us as being in the same mindset of them.

It's why I stopped reading Corsi and WND. It's why I spend no time reading or doing business with sites that provide a forum for the columns that Pat Buchanan writes.

It's why I have and still stand with Charles on his objections and unwillingness to recognize the Euro-US-Fascist sympathizers even if they do speak against the jihadi threat.

When something is wrong, it's wrong.

There's plenty of other ways to attack / discredit Obama and his policies and viewpoints. Using (and giving a break to) Corsi is not a smart one.

And obama's hissy fit and attempts to "fight the smears" of every little thing he considers a "half truth" is only going to exacerbate matters. I suspect they WISH they could make the book go away by simply trashing Corsi, but I also suspect that isn't going to happen.

If we make the same arguments, defend and accept Corsi, then we will be painted with the brush that associates us with the nutter viewpoints that Corsi possess.

We certainly don't need to defend Corsi but to discount any issue he brings up in his book will make us little more than Obama cheerleaders.

Do you want to start the list of factual points about Obama that we're not allowed to bring up because Corsi mentioned them? That's what is going to happen. The left will seize upon any point we make that Corsi happened to mention at any time and we'll cave like a house of cards. Obama has ties to Rezko? Oh no... we can't mention that because it was in that nutcase Corsi's book.

The Russians clearly were engaged in highly provocative behavior either directly or through their proxies. When the Georgians responded, the Russians had their excuse for an invasion.

The tone of this entire article is disgusting. Behind the scenes finger-pointing by the Bush Administration against Georgia? That'll help the situation a lot! It gives aid and comfort to the enemy. It's global warming.

Had a twister go over my dad's house a few weeks ago. Dad's a tough old goat, but he said, "Even I was was scared."

Other houses around him had a lot more damage. Trees were ripped out by the roots and one was lifted up and fell across a roof. He had the top of a tree snapped off, it fell in his yard and branches punched a couple of small holes in his roof overhang. An old playhouse in the back yard was blown apart. The twister went several miles, doing damage here and there, but apparently never touched down.

Corsi, sorry to hear his making common cause with Kluxscum, also should be considered untrustworthy, because of his insistence on abiogenic oil. Does this make abiogenic less likely? No, bu Corsi cannot, contribute to the expansion of knowledge, as a petroleum engineer could, a chemist, a geologist, a physicist.

If they are really facts and not part of his 'imagination' or trying to sell something - then they are readily available from someone else - like Freddoso's book. Use those.

We shouldn't spend time, money, or effort enriching Corsi or defending his reputation nor should we risk our reputation by citing him as our source.

Corsi believes McCain is accepting campaign funds from alQaeda. It's not ruining the thread, it's very relevant.

I doubt Corsi believes that. As someone else pointed out, he wrote that smear piece back in March just after McCain clinched the nomination. A few weeks earlier, he wrote this one.

McCain fortune traced to organized crime
Mob figures later implicated in Arizona savings and loan scandal

And a few weeks before that, this:

John McCain funded by Soros since 2001
Candidate's Reform Institute also accepted funds from Teresa Kerry

This is what he does. He has zero credibility. If you've ever watched him for more than a minute or two on Fox, where as someone else mentioned he's a regular, you wouldn't be surprised at any of this. I just switch channels when he comes on.

That is exactly my point. I haven't read Corsi's book. I don't know Corsi. I can get the 41 page point by point rebuttal for free at Obama's site. And what I've seen of that looks like not too much of a rebuttal to me. "Obama is a Christian, he attends Trinity United Church of Christ" does not make him either not a muslim by birth or not a follower of black liberation theology and a member of a mainstream "Christian" church. Mormons like to call themselves "Christian" too, but virtually no mainstream denominations agree that they are.

So, is that true. Does fire from jet fuel burn hot enough to produce what Jones says? I don't know. Corsi says no. But he says that just means the explanation is not sufficient, not that a new hypothesis is validated. Seems to be a lot of eagerness to discredit Corsi.

Jones found? Do you know who Steven Jones is and his history? He's a well known Scholar of 9/11 Truth leader and Corsi was doing nothing less than echoing the same 'questions' and 'findings' that Jones does. His own university basically disowned him because his 'findings' couldn't withstand any real review.

632 thepresenceusmc  Fri, Aug 15, 2008 3:51:26pm

I guess that makes me a "Troofer," too. Do the words "Operation Able Danger" mean anything to you? Did you know that the Bush administration prevented them from testifying, then actively campaigned against Rep. Weldon (R-PA), who had called for the OAD hearings?

There is a rat there, and it is nested in the White House. It is high time we had a full accounting for who knew what and when. After seven years, it's time we finally knew the truth. Not that I'm worried that any bureaucrat will ever pay the price for incompetence, but it ticks me off when "true believers" rally to the defense of a corrupt government that allowed 19 Muslims to kill almost 3000 citizens.

An article about Corsi's new book at Prison Planet.

Another of Corsi's books for sale at the Info Wars site.

One of a handful of audio segments of Corsi on Alex Jones' radio show.

Political Cesspool on Corsi's upcoming second appearance on their show.

Take all that for whatever it's worth, but a phrase regarding the company you keep comes to mind.

All of this has been gone over countless times -- there was even an excellent PBS documentary debunking the conspiracy claims...imo only kooks and wackos persist in these "It was an Inside Job!" claims.

I think a truther is a bumbling idiot who runs around claiming that Cheney or Bush or someone else placed explosives in the WTC, that flight 93 didn't exist or was shot down, and that a missile hit the Pentagon. Then prove it by putting some chicken wire on concrete blocks and setting paper on fire and when the wire doesn't melt that proves it to them.

You need to rethink that.

The 9/11 Truth Movement is the name adopted by organizations and individuals that question the mainstream account of the September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States.

And if you don't trust Wikipedia on that, there are plenty of other sources that will verify that description.

That's exactly what Jerome Corsi is doing. Sorry.

Then, all the evidence was moved to a dump, and we were left with a 9/11 Commission that had solved nothing other than "We got hit, and we may get hit again." Is it any surprise that Americans wanted something more?

“The fire, from jet fuel, does not burn hot enough to produce the physical evidence that he’s produced,” Mr. Corsi said. “So when you’ve got science that the hypothesis doesn’t explain–evidence–then the hypothesis doesn’t stand anymore. It doesn’t mean there’s a new hypothesis you’ve validated. It just means the government’s explanation of the jet fuel fire is not a sufficient explanation to explain the evidence of these spheres–these microscopic spheres–that Steven Jones has proved existed within the W.T.C. dust.”

So, is that true. Does fire from jet fuel burn hot enough to produce what Jones says? I don't know. Corsi says no. But he says that just means the explanation is not sufficient, not that a new hypothesis is validated. Seems to be a lot of eagerness to discredit Corsi.

I think Popular Mechanics has debunked that, along with other 9/11 myths. That particular one starts on p 4 at the link.

I'm not sure how you define "support".
.

"Support" means coming on a thread on the Internet and arguing mini details and in essence defending a nut job who published a book that fits your political agenda and saying, "I'll check the footnotes" and judge for myself.

That's not Charles' point.

Charles point is Corsi is poison and lacks credibility, footnote or no footnotes.

And as for all this "Well, if the facts are true" bullshit I'm hearing, that applies if someone is controversial, but when we're talking about 9/11 troof, which is the deliberate twisting of facts to fit a paranoid, conspiracy theory, then it's hard to have faith in the said facts.

All you have to do is bring up any point Corsi might have mentioned and you'll hear.... Oh, that's the crap from the Corsi book. I used to wonder what Alex Jones's political agenda was, because he didn't seem to fall on one side or another of the typical right-left divide. Then I realized, he doesn't have a political agenda. He has a commercial agenda. He wants his audience to get as cranked up and hysterical as possible so they'll keep coming back and clicking on his ads for snake oil, survivalism and various tomes and dvds about the UFO blueprints of the Polynesian Illuminati. And he never criticizes anyone's shtick even when kook A conflicts with kook B. If you've ever listened to Art Bell it's similar... he never questions the insanity, just says "interesting".

I think Popular Mechanics has debunked that, along with other 9/11 myths. That particular one starts on p 4 at the link.

I had read that, but not looking for the answer to the one specific thing I see Corsi had questioned. I think I found the answer, however.

"But jet fuel wasn't the only thing burning, notes Forman Williams, a professor of engineering at the University of California, San Diego, and one of seven structural engineers and fire experts that PM consulted. He says that while the jet fuel was the catalyst for the WTC fires, the resulting inferno was intensified by the combustible material inside the buildings, including rugs, curtains, furniture and paper. NIST reports that pockets of fire hit 1832°F. "

So it would seem like that one question that I hear Corsi posing has been answered.

I still think calling him a troofer is stretching it............a lot.

OK, they are really slick bumbling idiots. There was a really good show I think on the discovery channel about how the main trusses were over heated and sagged a bit. This caused the upper floor to collapse and then in pancake fashion, since each floor was not designed to handle the one above crashing down on it, caused the collapse. The controlled demolition idea is insane.

Yeah, Jones seems to be a nutcake. And it seems that the one question I heard Corsi pose regarding the jet fuel fires, I had not reasearched, now I have. But it seems reasonable to have simply answered that question instead of the Ad Hominen and guilt by assocation smears that have spread throughout.

re: #673 kansas

Hardly. I was looking at the Trinity UCC church website a year ago, and it was obvious that this was a black separatist church. It wasn't mainstream Christianity, which espouses inclusiveness of human beings regardless of race. Jeremiah Wright's theology of hatred for white people is not mainstream.

When Obama claims to be Christian, it's a claim similar to that of a snake-handling fundamentalist Christian who claims to be handling snakes because of his faith. He may be a Christian, but the church with which he affiliated himself is not mainstream.

And if Corsi discusses this, that doesn't mean it's out-of-bounds for me. Such an assertion makes no sense.

The evidence is in front of you. Yet you keep harping on this one element of one interview when the rest of the interview shows that he clearly, in so many words, disputes the findings of the 9/11 Commission. Not to mention about a dozen other independent pieces of evidence that Charles and others have posted here corroborating the fact that this guy totally lacks credibility.

Corsi is now discredited,

Yes.

his anti Obama book is discredited,

Pretty much

and the other anti Obama books that make any points that Corsi made, even if true are discredited.

Absolutely not. That doesn't follow at all. As others have pointed out, facts and ideas don't lose their credibility just because they're espoused by a nutcase. Credible sources for the points that Corsi made will continue to be credible and we'll now need to redouble our efforts to make sure they don't get tarred with the brush Corsi has conveniently provided.
