Obama Memorabilia

Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 6:55:15 pm PDT

LGF reader “Megulator” was vacationing in Maine and came upon a “living history museum” that contained a historic post office building. Inside was a cache of FBI wanted posters from 1971, the date the post office officially closed. Among these old documents: the original FBI Most Wanted poster for Barack Obama associate Bernardine Dohrn. (Click for a larger version.)

50 Mosse  Sat, Aug 23, 2008 7:13:21pm

Excellent! I just sent a pointed letter to Sean Hannity, on whose show Larry Sabato insisted that "ordinary Americans" don't care about Obama's associations with Ayers, et al. What nonsense! I have a gang of degrees but I work with primarily lower- and lower-middle class people, mostly people of color, as an instructor, and THEY were the first to pick up that there were inconsistencies and suspicious aspects to Obama's "magic!" LONG before middle-class people with strings of degrees recognized it and also long before all the information we've all been collecting on the guy was available publicly! They knew that something about Obama was "just not right!" Ugh. "Pundits." Keep these relationships front and center. Keep finding more (Pat Cadell just mentioned there's something of great concern about Bill Daley -- Mayor Daley's brother -- and Joe Biden -- I just posted a bit on it). All this information is crucial as all of us "ordinary Americans" reject this dangerous phony! And the crowd he runs with!

Here's one with Ayers and Dorn

I notice from the poster that there are two others, Kathy Boudin and Judy Clark. Judy Clark is in prison for the Brink's robbery in which a police officer was killed, so is not available to aid in the Obama campaign. Boudin, who was in the same robbery, has been on parole since 2003, so it would appear that she would fit right in.

Kaixo!

Mandy Manners-

"Kaixo" means "Hello" in Euskara, the Basque language, and "Agur" means "Goodbye". "Eskerrik asko" means "Thank you", and "Ez Horregatik" means "You're welcome". Incidentally, "Euskal Herria" means "Basque Country". I am still learning the language; it is not related to Spanish or any of the other Indo-European languages in any way, and is thought to have been much more widespread in Europe in ancient times than it is presently; it is spoken in four provinces in Northern Spain and 3 in Southern France, and of course in the US where significant numbers of Basque immigrants have settled, like Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and California. A number of Basques also immigrated to Argentina and other Latin American countries. Hope all this helps!

Agur!

Our nation has been through so much
These last few thousand days.
Our battered hearts and weary souls
Look now for warming rays.
Our confidence is shattered;
Our discourse in the muck;
And so I have just one request:
Please, Obama -- please don't suck.

From Enron to the oil kings
Our country has been sold
And to the lowest bidders,
And we all have gotten rolled.
More tax cuts for the rich,
While the barons pass the buck;
It seems impossible to ask
But Obama: please don't suck.

Our soldiers in Iraq will stay
For many months, at least,
Because we thought preemptive war
Was a more docile beast.
Our diplomacy has become farce
Our policies, amok;
If you want to be in charge of it
Then Obama -- please don't suck.

It would be very simple
To let it slip away;
A pardon here, a bill, a law,
A tactical delay.
The lobbyists and crooks remain,
Always looking for a schmuck,
But we have few chances left,
So Obama:
Please
Don't
Suck.

Only Right Wing extremists are guilty and evil. Left Wing extremists are 'freedom fighters'.

Thus the Left can justify its exclusion of political Rightists from their heralded notion of "toleration" -- they adhere to the sentiment encapsulated in a quote from that crusty old socialist Thomas Mann: "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." Hence the syllogism:

1) Evil is not to be tolerated
2) Political Rightists are evil, therefore
3) Political Rightists are not to be tolerated

Labeling is only one step in the process

Looks like a pair is about $300. Anyone think that's a good repair, rather than toss and replace?

Considering I also need to toss the old and failing stereo, to replace it with a 5.1 or 7.1 home theater yada yada that's going to want four or more matched speakers anyway, and uses a sub-woofer for the good stuff nowadays anyway?

Mandy,
It's thought that the people who lived in Ireland prior to the arrival of the Celts may have been related to the Basques. Hence the connection between Euzkadi and Ogham.

One of those things that is lost in the mists of time.

The people of another northern Spanish province have connections to the Celtic world as well. Similar ancient architecture to what is found in Ireland, England, Scotland and Brittany. They also play the bagpipes.

"itu3t" -

$300 to repair sounds a bit steep. Makes me feel better that the repair for my ADVENT Towers (New Speaker to Speaker Frame Membranes) is about $30 plus tax, shipping and my labor. If you are a real Audiophile and have the money, buy a 5,6 or 7.1 receiver of your choice and a set of matched speakers of your choice - AND - rejoice, the FM Section of whatever you buy is probably the equal or better of the Sequerra 1 FM tuner - $2,499 in early 1970's dollars, the Amp is probably cleaner, and a $25-30 DVD Player, playing CD's kicks the living POOP out of most 1970's Turntables. If you are committed to Two Channel Reproduction, be advised that Pioneer has come back with the "SX" Series, from what I have heard - Good Amp - Mediocre Tuner. Hope this helps.

Well, I was attempting to be a bit cheeky. I seem to recall a statement by Nixon (I believe) who, when asked about the difference between college prospects for liberal and conservative students, replied that liberal kids went into journalism, conservative kids went into business. I was (loosely) riffing on that.

Also, I've heard guys like Limbaugh state that they couldn't engage in rightist activities like the leftists radicals could at that time because they were too busy working.

For what it's worth....

"Hammer" -

I was younger and stronger then - stupider as well. Got everything done, though working DID cut into my then Left political work. Probably saved my butt as well from having to live a life on "the lam" like Bill Ayres.

I was sick when it the games where given to China. Reagan showed the way to bury communist regimes. He was giving speeches on how to do it as far back as '57. He put it practice it worked. But we never seem to learn.

Problem is, we're fighting a cold civil war with those who would dump Reagan - and all other decent people - into the mass grave of history.

Hey all y'all - late to the party again and don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but:

Dohrn has been suspected of involvement in a February 16, 1970, bombing of the Park Police Station in San Francisco, which kllled a police officer and partially blinded another, who was forced to retire on a disability.[11] At the time, Dohrn was said to be living with a Weatherman cell in a houseboat in Sausalito, California, unnamed law enforcement sources later told KRON-TV.[12] An investigation into the case was reopened in 1999,[11] and a San Francisco grand jury looked into the incident, but no indictments followed,[12] and no one was ever arrested for the bombing.[11] An FBI informant, Larry Grathwohl, who successfully penetrated the organization from the late summer of 1969 until April 1970, later testified to a U.S. Senate subcommittee that Bill Ayers, then a high-ranking member of the organization and a member of its Central Committee (but not then Dohrn's husband), had said Dohrn constructed and planted the bomb. Grathwohl testified that Ayers had told him specifically where the bomb was placed (on a window ledge) and what kind of shrapnel was put in it. Grathwohl said Ayers was emphatic, leading Grathwohl to believe Ayers either was present at some point during the operation or had heard about it from someone who was there.[13] In a book about his experiences published in 1976, Grathwohl wrote that Ayers, who had recently attended a meeting of the group's Central Committee, said Dohrn had planned the operation, made the bomb and placed it herself.[14] In 2008, Grathwohl's testimony was quoted by David Freddoso in his book The Case Against Barack Obama. "Ayers and Dohrn escaped prosecution only because of government misconduct in collecting evidence against them", Freddoso wrote.[13]

[Link: en.wikipedia.org...]
Neither she nor Billy Ayers were simply student radicals; they each placed bombs in building and as cited above, there is reason to believe that she in fact placed a bomb that resulted in one murder.
Nice friends ya got there Obama.

Kaixo!

Mandy Manners and all you others who wonder where the Basque language originated: The most common hypothesis is that it originated "in situ", as an ancient language long predating the Indo-European languages such as the Romance languages, Germanic languages, the Slavic languages, Greek, Celtic languages, the Indic languages, Iranian, Armenian, etc. The Basques have the best explanation! It is the pure Adamic language! Legend has it that Satan came to the Basque country to convert the Basques; after some length of time they got mad at him and drove him out from among them. he tripped and fell, and forgot the only two words he had learned, "bai" (yes) and "ez" (no). (they use this tale to describe the difficulty of learning Euskara, or Basque)

Agur!

One thing that he told me that creeped me out was (he was only 19 at the time) the enemy used to do PCP before they attacked and would keep coming after they were shot in the chest or other areas. You see, awareness/mobility goes on for maybe ten seconds even after you blow the heart out of a target, so to speak, and a lot can happen in those ten seconds.
The legs are the last to get the word that it's all over, so best to make them stop.

When Zinn's a People's History is a popular text in high schools, it a tough fight just correcting the record.

Which is what I find so frustrating with Charles's obsession with ID. I'm not a big fan of ID but I think the leftist takeover of American History curricula is a far greater danger to the educational system and the health of our Republic and far more in need of being exposed at this point in time.

There are a lot of people banging the drum about Creationists. The creeping Gramscianism in History, Sociology and Psychology is a bigger problem, IMHO.

Watching all of the News outlets today, other than Fox, the MSM is prepared to embrace Biden as part of the Obama Fellowship despite the fact that the man is an idiot. No surprises here, but McCain has his work cut out for him to start nailing Biden. The dossier is quite large but the media will care less. Suddenly, the intervention of Sean Hannity an others like him doing the media's job becomes pivotal.

There is a plethora of damning evidence against both of these fools from Ayers to Farrakhan to Rezko and for Biden his history is overflowing with incredibly dumb statements like trashing Petraeus...

We are in the homestretch, McCain winning this turns solely on his getting a decent amount of coverage exposing his opponents.

Not happy if it is Biden
By Isis13 - Aug 22nd, 2008 at 3:28 pm EDT
Also listed in: 1,000,000 Americans for Obama / Designers for Barack / Women for Obama

He is a nice guy and all, but I didn't like the "clean" comment he made about Barack and I really don't like the fact that Geraldine Ferraro said last week, "It's going to be Biden." It sounds like a back room deal with the cigar smoking crowd in New York and Chicago-- if ya know what I mean.

The Rose Beyond The Wall

Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light,
Watered and fed by the morning dew,
Shedding it's sweetness day and night.

As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.

Onward it crept with added strength
With never a thought of fear or pride,
It followed the light through the crevice's length
And unfolded itself on the other side.

The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before,
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing it's fragrance more and more.

Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive--
The rose still grows beyond the wall,

Scattering fragrance far and wide
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.

~ A. L. Frink ~

A local mechanic that we sometimes take our cars to, was a pilot for the 219th VNAF, flying those things, getting our Green Berets in and out of places they shouldn't have been... He has a commendation letter from MACV-SOG on the wall of his shop. My roommate's father got a couple of stories out of him now and again, including one about pulling some of our guys off of a hilltop around which the NVA had lit an encircling brush fire. When my dad was in the Phillipines during the Hukbalahap rebellion in the late 50's (also known as the New People's Army...Maoists) he and another pilot were out searching for a Navy seaplane that had crashed into a mountain. They found the seaplane and recovered the bodies of the crew. One of the helicopters developed a mechanical problem so they sent the Marine squad and the bodies of the seaplane crew back on the working 'copter and my dad and a crew chief spent the night on the mountain and in the morning used parts from the seaplane engine to repair the 'copter...the seaplane either used the same radial engine as the copter or one that was similar enough that parts were interchangeable.

Fortunately they did not encounter the Huks.

Holding her fingers in what became the Weatherman "fork salute," she said of the bloody murders recently committed by the Manson Family in which the pregnant actress Sharon Tate and a Folgers Coffee heiress and several other inhabitants of a Benedict Canyon mansion were brutally stabbed to death: "Dig it! Oddly enough he first told me that story one afternoon when we were living in Hawaii. We were hiking in the mountains behind Camp Smith in Aiea. There was a B-24 that had crashed up there during WWII and we found pieces of it scattered on two sides of a ridge. It was easy to identify from pieces of the cockpit window frame and the main landing gear.

I guess being in the rain forest and looking at radial engine pieces reminded him of that night in the Phillipines.

We know (or have reason to strongly suspect) from his email to Karl Rove that Ron Fournier is a right-wing Christain evangelical. What else do we know about him?

Precious little.

When the Rather story broke, Freepers got busy. For weeks they obsessed over fonts and sources and typesets... they launched a distributed research effort.

What if we were to do that with Fournier? What if we were to find out what church he attends (and record a sermon or two, ala Jeremiah Wright?) What if someone discovered that his wife volunteers for the John McCain campaign or made several thousand dollars in contributions to Republicans? What if we learned that Fournier took his daughter to a purity ball?

I'll be contacting friends at other news services and blogs; this is a story that deserves development.

finally... if you or anyone you know are in possession of any information that may help to expose Fournier as a partisan hack with an axe to grind, please email me at stark. m at gmail. com. All submissions will be kept confidential unless credit is asked for.

Sample of comments:

Just sent you an email

And give'em hell, baby! Bring this motherfucker down!

Wouldn't you want to know if Fournier was the Chairman of his local KKK chapter? Alright... yeah, that is hyperbole, but the question forms: what is relevant from a persons private life when they constantly compose political hit pieces that consistently target Democrats?

So the question to Biden and of course Obama is this is..

Does Biden, and I guess by his choice Obama support partitioning Iraq into three parts? Biden proposes partitioning Iraq. And what do the Iraqis think of such an idea? If the Iraqi government opposes that idea does Obama pursue it anyway if he becomes President? Or was Joe Biden all wrong in that assessment?

This was discussed on Fox today.....Iraqi government glad it did not happen......JOE BIDEN WAS WRONG IN THAT ASSESSMENT ! Got him already...LOL LOL

You know what else is hilarious? We have started taking a photographic diary of all of the botched park jobs from these people. Taking up two spaces, crooked, over the lines, diagonally, leaving the car on so the radiator blows, etc. Its amusing and I still stand by my theory of the relationship of driving ability and IQ.

Well, I think Jackie Stewart was a pretty bright guy. My favorite race driver of all time. I think you are right about the driving/IQ thing.

When I hear "park job" though I think of this process, not putting a car between two painted lines. LOL.

Was Obama's interest in taking a job at U Chicago Law schools partly motivated by an urge to be at the shrine where Bernadine Dohrn was a student and the Weather Underground started? There is something very creepy and obsessive about him making contact with movement radicals and then moving himself to the ground zero of the great rebellion of 1968.

That may not be his only connection to part of the University's less positive history. Chicago is always sensitive to people who get to tightly wrapped up in messianic superiority fantasies. This was the home of Leopold and Loeb and for years afterwards students believed the University Library hid the Nietzche volumes. Note that everyone involved in that crime lived in the same small neighborhood of Kenwood where Obama now lives. Look at the map of where that happened and remember where Obama's house is at 50th and Greenwood.

Together with Chicagoan Bill Ayers, Dohrn was an unrepentant former member of the U.S. terrorist group the Weather Underground, which placed bombs in public buildings (including police stations and the U.S. Capitol) around the U.S. back in the 1970s.

A bomb placed by Dohrn killed a police officer in San Francisco. The FBI botched the investigation, and Ayers and Dohrn walked free.

The two of them were early political supporters and friends of Obama's in Chicago.

I haven't read the comments yet, but I have a good imagination.

Guys, I was a draft resistor and turned myself in in 1972. Spent a whole 2 weeks in jail. My friends who went to Viet Nam respect me for doing what I did same as I respect them. Sometimes, right or wrong, you have to stand up for your beliefs.

I respect anyone who did more than chew gum and listen to the crap put out by tricky Dick and his predecessors. Most of the country did nothing but go along and they had a name---"the silent majority".

I am pretty sure that Ms. Dohrn is an upstanding citizen these days and I am pretty sure I would be proud to count her as a compatriot of those turbulent days in the 60s and 70s when the only opposing force against Viet Nam was a few brave folks who were putting their lives and sacred honor on the line.

So as the ranting begins: Keep in mind----we won and the Viet Nam war is over.

Ask yourself..right or wrong..What sacrifice have you made so brave as Bernadine Dohrn?

For your consideration

Thanks and I look foreword to your replies.

McCains going after pissed off Hillary voters LOL

As he should.

Remember, Obama and Clinton roughly split the Dem primary vote 50-50. In fact, IIRC Obama actually lost the Dem primary majority vote.

If McCain can grab even 15% of the Hilary supporters votes (or have them not vote for Obama), that would be VERY bad news for Obama, as it could mean a sweep of swing states for McCain.

Its one thing to oppose the war in Vietnam on principle or for other reasons, and another to resist the draft.

But neither of these things holds a candle to the murder of a San Francisco police officer by a bomb, as Dohrn allegedly did, something you apparently believe is an act of "brave sacrifice".

In my book, being a petty murderous thug isn't anything to be proud of.

577 silversmith  Sun, Aug 24, 2008 9:06:36am

I agree murder is wrong and she should have gone to jail for it.

578 silversmith  Sun, Aug 24, 2008 9:11:00am

Actually what I really believe is that she should have gotten the death penalty for it as it was totally premeditated murder. This does not change the sacrifice issue, nor does it change my sympathy for the dead cop or his family.

579 silversmith  Sun, Aug 24, 2008 9:38:24am

We were winning without her, but she may have knocked off a year of war. They, the government, were scared of us and the jails were full of us who would willingly suffer for our beliefs. If the war ended one day earlier because of what she did, I am guessing she saved 20 lives. Not bad for a murdering thug?

Looking at a bagger view than yourself is difficult and scary. It is even harder when it is your butt on the line. The fact is that no Vietnamese EVER attacked inside the continental USA. 50,000 US soldiers died for very little gain if any. As McCain says, we wasted our treasure and our lives.

Can you blame Obama for studying Ms Dohrn? I watch today as he tries to link Viet Nam and Iraq and he has been successfully pretty much. I think I watched here a video about what the Vietnamese were teaching the Arabs about their experience and how to wage war against the US. Can you blame Obama for studying Ms Dohrn and doesn't it make sense that he chooses one of the stars of the Watergate hearings for a running mate? Coincidence....I think not.

Much of the 'silent majority' of Democrats are for Obama because they weren't against Viet Nam and they feel guilty....so they send money.

I have a friend from high school (class of 69) who is Code Pink and totally an Obamaphile. She missed out on the 60s and so is a rabid Obama fan and antiwar activist. She wanted to be like me except she isn't willing to ruin her life over it or do much more than talk and spend money.

If you want to end war and stuff you have to do more than talk about it. Change? Same thing. Obama ain't it.

First of all, you're dead wrong about the war ending early because of this terrorist. There is no causal relation whatever. ZERO.

If the war ended one day earlier because of what she did, I am guessing she saved 20 lives. Not bad for a murdering thug?

Stipulating that there was ANY connection between this thug and the end of the war (and there wasn't), how many THOUSANDS of lives were lost because the USA pulled out of Vietnam early?

Looking at a bagger view than yourself is difficult and scary.

Indeed. Though, I find trying to rationalize the actions of unrepentant murderers far more scary.

She wasn't "brave" and she didn't "sacrifice" anything, and I have nothing further to say on this.

As to Obama, I can't speak to his relationship to Dorhn, other than to opine that no matter what it was (or is), it can't possibly reflect well on him.

581 quickjustice  Sun, Aug 24, 2008 10:53:27am

re: #572 silversmith

So let's see-- murdering U.S. cops with bombs shortened the Vietnam War how, exactly? The goal of the Weather Underground was to bring down the U.S. government, and replace it with a communist dictatorship through a course of domestic terrorist violence.

They also invented the concept of identity politics, which they believed would result in class warfare, pitting class against class, race against race, and gender against gender, and bring down the U.S. government. Thirty years later, we see what that has brought to the Democrat Party and the nation.

The U.S. became involved in the Vietnam War to contain communist expansion in Asia. Democrat President John F. Kennedy started the U.S. involvement, but then orchestrated the assassination of the President of South Vietnam. This was a horrible mistake.

Democrat President Lyndon Johnson continued the war, and profited from it through his connections with a major American defense contractor. He made Cheney and Halliburton look like pikers by comparison.

The Democrats lost the Vietnam War by cutting off funding and military support to the South Vietnamese too early. Richard Nixon pulled out U.S. forces, but was unable to get the Democrat Congress to fund further aid to the South Vietnamese to resist North Vietnamese aggression.

The Vietnam War was lost when North Vietnamese tanks supplied by the Soviets overran the South Vietnamese Army in a frontal attack. Congress had cut off funding for U.S. air support to knock out the Soviet-supplied armor.

You count yourself in good company with domestic terrorists and cop killers? I don't have to judge that. You judge yourself.

I was an antiwar protester. I was deeply involved at the time in the demonstrations, the meetings, the movement. And I can tell you it did not take courage back then to be a draft resister. It was all the vogue.

What did you accomplish? You got Nixon elected twice and you got millions of pro-American Vietnamese and Cambodians killed. . .

Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn are spoiled rich kids playing at revolution while their rich daddies and connections bail them out of any legal difficulties so they don't ever have to feel the real life consequences of their theories. I wonder how their compatriots who ended up actually doing time feel about their freedom.

583 Claire  Sun, Aug 24, 2008 11:33:41am

re: #581 quickjustice

That's the crux of the issue, isn't it?

The goal of the Weather Underground was to bring down the U.S. government, and replace it with a communist dictatorship through a course of domestic terrorist violence.

These weren't admirable people trying to replace a corrupt government with an honest one, they were trying for a Marxist takeover. They weren't anti-war, they just wanted to Communists to win.

There's a documentary on the Weatherman on Amazon that looks interesting, (though incomplete due to bias by the film-makers.) The first comment on that page is worth reading as well.

Read

The Pentagon Papers

I am talking about the book made from the documents stolen by another 60's person who paid for it. When you actually understand the history of the Viet Nam war, you might understand some other concepts, such as the need for elections even if our candidate is not going to win. See Iraq and Afganistan for an update on the change in US policy. Another change was having clear goals.

As to your assertion that the Democrats lost the war I will just point out that Nixon ended the war just before the elections. I remember because I was alive then.

As far as the military situation, it was a rout because the country of Viet Nam (THE PEOPLE) voted with their guns and threw out the corrupt american dictatorship. (my opinion) If we were so great, the people would have supported us and they didn't because we backed a brutal corrupt government. Prior to our entry into the conflict with the communists, Americans were heros to the Vietnamese because we saved their country from the Japanese.

re: #582 bungie

It is OK that you don't respect me or my opinions. I respect that.

If it to no sacrifice to go to jail, it certainly took less sacrifice to "work in the movement". We all did what we did in the belief that we were doing the best for our country. Peace brother.

I fail to see how I elected Nixon when I clearly voted for McGovern...and lost. I fail to see how I killed millions of people as I was against the process of pitting brother against brother in a meaningless civil war. Cambodia? Pol Pot was a nutcase and where does his genocide tie into this thread? Oh I get it, I elected Nixon and Nixon bombed Cambodia and Pol Pot was Cambodian and it is therefore my fault.....no I don't get it.

As to the sacrifice of the people from that era, I might point out that thousands of people are blogging right now about these folks and those folks have children and grandchildren. You are going on about this woman being a murderer and yet,as I understand it, she was not convicted through a legal technicality. Now all her neighbors are freshly reminded and everyone in school will be talking about mom or grandma. I am sure it is really easy to get a job when you are a bomber. No sacrifice. You my friend are the only one without sacrifice.

Peace

Kill a man and live with the memory and you will know something of sacrifice. Go to court. Live with the media. Have pinheads call you names and ridicule you.

Then take a few years and go get your law degree and become a respected professor with an opinion that MEANS something because it proves you know the difference between right and wrong. Do you think for a minute she doesn't have to re-examine her actions with every freshman class.

re: #592 silversmith

Very interesting.

However, the fact remains that Ms. Dohrn, at the very least, supported insurrection against her own country.

Why couldn't she have moved to a country that shared her ideals--if they were so lofty?

Dig it: a peaceful exodus of anti-war protestors who hated the US Government, and were willing to uproot their lives for it--renounce their homeland and heritage. That would have been the proper way to protest the Vietnam War. Speaking out against it, as Dr. King did, would have been right.

Bombings? Molotov cocktails? That's stupid.

My point is that there was never a need for Dohrn or her associates to resort to THE COWARD'S WAY OUT. That is what Dohrn is: a coward.

Dr. King, the Tiannamen Square gent, Gandhi(who King was inspired by), Senator McCain(as a soldier, mind you--doing his duty): these stood for their beliefs and paid the price. Heck--I'll even throw Cassius Clay in there--he's one of the few men named Muhammad that I can possibly respect. Dohrn attacked the innocent.

But hey--"she learned her lesson", and is now an "upstanding member" of society. (if only that were true.)

Be real, man.

disclaimer: I was born December 27, 1976; so I wasn't even born when this took place. I lived through six PotUS Administrations (Ford was still a 12/76 lame duck). As a "black" offspring of a single mother, Obama's story resonates with me. Unlike him, I don't have Senator O's "daddy issues", and I don't want someone looking for stable parents in his 40s to run the country--especially if they're social malcontents like Dohrn and Ayers.

I'm not looking for perfection from human beings. That's a waste of energy. I don't even expect people to be angels. I only want them to be on the angels' side.

/end ID mode: presupposing the existence of supernatural entities. no flames please. ;)

This is a free country now. Has been for some time--at the very least, since I've been alive(note below). Thanks in part to the tireless efforts of my African ancestors (whose parents/grandparents were forcibly sold to Europeans by Arabs and rival Africans), I can honestly say that--warts and all--I like it here. I am free to say I dislike it here. I am free to leave if I dislike it so much that I hate what it stands for--there is no law saying I cannot leave.

The same applied to Ms. Dohrn. Whatever "hardships" she endured were self-inflicted. The First Amendment secured her right to screech at Kennedy/Johnson/Nixon; it even protected her appalling approval of the Manson murders. (you can dare to be stupid and repuslive in this country!) It doesn't permit her to commit crimes.

Sir, you are off-base. Like most Americans, you're likely Jacksonian--as long as Americans Don't Die--life is cozy. But back in the Vietnam War--as is now--that perspective is the kind of "America First" tunnel-vision that plunged us into WW2 in the first place. It's shortsighted, with no concept of long-term effects.

If you were to so much as browse the analysis posted here over the years, you'd gather that "we're still paying for the Carter Administration". How did we get Carter elected before my birthday? "America First".

I believe in "America First--and Best", not "America First--to the exclusion of all else." Clio, muse of History, will not be kind to us if we continue with the latter. Our weakness caused millions to die in SE Asia, and caused our enemies to think we were weak--and they attacked us accordingly.

I didn't have to be there to know that much.

The basque idiom is a prehistoric dialect which survived when Emperor Augustus saw no interest in the region nor danger from within, so the people lost in those mountains where left alone for centuries. Nowadays is thoroughly used by basque separatists who mixed their dialects to create a more modern language to show they are different to all Spaniards. Much like the catalonians are doing. In fact their aim is that no children can be taught in Spanish in their separatists regions, (and they are succeeding).
The basque is loved by the communist-separatist terrorist organization ETA responsible for near 1000 murderings.

So you my find it uses Latin alphabet. They have words for rock, tree and things alike but when a word must describe anything involving civilization; i.e. space shuttle, television, etc, also involves exclusively Greek or Latin prefixes and suffixes plus some basque touch.

There are only near 0.5M people fluent in basque which is totally useless outside the separatist region. (English 508M, Spanish 400M, Tagalog, 65M).
I’d use too my mother language that is some kind of Spanish for rednecks, the Lebrixanus only spoken by 856.5 people which involves 30 different ancient orders for cattle and 2000 words to describe the beauty of a chick but in a civilized world this could be heavily offensive so I put my efforts better to learn some English and use it in English forums rather than my mother language.

So it doesn't matter if you are trying to overthrow the government and replace it with Marxism. What truly matters is how much you "care" and how much struggle you put into your efforts regardless of what they actually are.

Why the hell would I want to walk in her shoes? I could not care less how hard her life has been due to her actions- tough shit. She can cry me a frickin river. You are defending the indefensible.

You have to admit though, she was a lot hotter than Tricia Nixon!

I'm old enough to remember the Pentagon Papers and the rest of it. Eisenhower sent a small team of military advisers to assist the French, who were fighting a communist insurgency in their former colony. Jack Kennedy continued the policy, and increased our involvement, orchestrating the assassination of the democratically elected president of South Vietnam in the process.

For those of you too young to remember, the communists had a bad habit of paying lip service to democracy, and then rigging elections to ensure their perpetual victories afterward. All communist nations outside Russia were Soviet puppets until Mao broke with the Russians. After that, all communist nations outside Russia and China were Soviet or Chinese puppets.

Nixon didn't "end" the Vietnam War. He pulled out U.S. forces as part of a strategy of "Vietnamization", in which the South Vietnamese would become responsible for their own defense. The war continued after the U.S. pullout, with North Vietnam continuing to receive massive Soviet and Chinese military assistance.

Against the combined military might of the three communist powers, the South Vietnamese were no match. The heavy tanks the Soviets provided enabled the North Vietnamese to overrun the South Vietnamese Army. The people of South Vietnam never "rose up" against the South Vietnamese government. It was an armored attack, supported by infantry, by the communists from the north that concluded the war.

The Democrat Congress then refused further military aid to South Vietnam after Nixon pulled our forces out. That refusal caused South Vietnamese defeat.
