Zombie, LGF been hammered and I've had trouble posting, but I hope that you are safe and sound, and please be careful out there!

HOORAY for Zombie!

10 Killian Bundy  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 9:05:14pm

Not sure how much actual "rioting" was done.

/seemed to be a lot of running away from the police and chanting from the hippie hymnal

11 Dianna  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 9:05:17pm

I'm listening to the webcam operators making party arrangements. Worse, I'm listening to the less intelligent protestors trying to sing Bohemian Raphsody.

I find this more worrying than anything else I've heard.

12 Dream  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 9:06:38pm

This protester violence isn't they type of organizing Obama knew apparently. Didn't take them real long to community organize...I mean rabble rouse. Hope you are same Zombie. Curious what group started the riot and over what (well assuming there was a reason...moonbats generally don't always need one).

14 Athos  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 9:07:15pm

It's bad enough the times I've waded into the swamps of these pinheads as they marched in Hollywood - but at a national convention, there's a whole new level of danger with these haters and fascists.

Stay safe and stay anonymous.

I don't know - saw a group called 'Queen Nation' do it this past Saturday and it was quite good.

Above and beyond, Zombie. Kudos for the escape!

22 scrat  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 9:08:29pm

With the low protester turnouts, Zombie's going to be in danger of having his/her cover blown. Zombie may very well be the only attendee other than the "organizers" of some of these events...

OT: Dateline Bangkok: Eyewitness report:
Thai police blocked off most major arteries leading into the government-heavy 'Old Bangkok' section of Bangkok, in anticipation of violence at this morning's PPP (Pathetic Power-Pukes) anti-democracy protest.

Schools were closed abruptly just minutes before morning classes, and around 11,000 hysterically laughing children were sent home bitterly cursing their good fortune.

More as it happens. I can't live-blog it, sorry, but it seems to be made of the same stuff as the Demwax Convention.

Zombie,

Perhaps you should get with the Liazdoid Army MilWing to devise a nice extraction strategy. I don't think they have any helicopters, but I think they have a bunch of motorcycles, but then again...

52 Walter L. Newton  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 9:18:11pm

OT - as I said on the prior thread, I'm sure glad that zombie got out of that ok and hope the eye wasn't damaged by the pepper spray!

However, Mom watched O'Reilly tonight and he mentioned the Billy Ayers ad and said that Fox had decided not to air it. According to Mom, O'Reilly looked thoroughly disgusted with Fox for not airing it and said something to the effect that he'd seen it and it was accurate so he didn't quite understand Fox's decision.
Bucks, O'Reilly, Bucks. Pure and simple. If Fox had aired it, they would have lost their credentials to the convention. I know, I know, some of us think that would be an exceedingly small price to pay for a free press to pay, but apparently Fox doesn't feel that way.

Mrs. Malkin's such a tiny thing - I can't help worrying about her - but she did have at least one big guy with her. Alex Jones is a horse's rear end, and I'm just glad the crowd didn't take the bait and cause someone harm.

Unfortunately, I think you are right on the money. It will have the opposite effect - just like in 1968 - which will cause only more frustration and seething.

One would think that with their desire for communism and fascism, they would just move to Cuba or Venezuela and enjoy the tropic sunshine. At some point, it will be clear that they have crossed the line from dissent and protected speech to sedition.

Hey, anyone know what day the new Black Hole maker goes on line at CERN?

Tests will continue into September to ensure that the entire machine is ready to accelerate and collide beams at an energy of 5 TeV per beam, the target energy for 2008. Force majeure notwithstanding, the LHC will see its first circulating beam on 10 September at the injection energy of 450 GeV (0.45 TeV).

Once stable circulating beams have been established, they will be brought into collision, and the final step will be to commission the LHC’s acceleration system to boost the energy to 5 TeV, taking particle physics research to a new frontier.

We get to live to at least the end of the year. ;-P

So they're just making a stink, violently if need be. They were gathering, this morning, when I was in the area... spozed to be around 5-10,000...

Other memories of '68:
I have an ex NYPD friend (6' 5" and 240 lbs.) that used to do the "riot control" thing and at the Columbia U. takeover back in the 60's he said his post had him standing next to Mark Rudd (sp ?) 60's a**hole agitator/trouble maker extraordinaire. During downtime "they shot the sh*t" here and there and at one point they had even agreed to take turns bringing the coffee & donuts when one or the other got a break to go wash up etc.My friend said they were getting along pretty good (outwardly) but just as things were getting really warm and fuzzy he took the opportunity to remind Rudd (with a smile on his face) "just don't forget, if and when all hell breaks loose, I'm still going to crack your fuckin' skull". I wished so badly that someone had snapped a pic. of Rudds face at that very moment ! It would have been priceless !

She and her husband are Marxists, as long as individuals can chart there own course there will be inequities. Some are always, smarter, work harder, are more persistent than others. Some succeed and some don't life tough and unfair.

A strategery memo I just received from the McCain campaign:

TO: Interested Parties
FROM: Sarah Simmons, Director of Strategy
RE: Obama's Convention Bounce
DATE: August 22, 2008

Monday marks the beginning of the Democratic National Convention in Denver. A combination of factors makes this particular convention historic on many levels. Democrats have just completed an incredibly compelling primary cycle that has both energized and divided the Democratic Party. Because of the unique nature of the Democratic primary, we believe Obama will receive a significant bump from his convention.

This cycle mirrors Bill Clinton's Democratic convention in 1992: A historic 16-point bump. Barack Obama is more similarly situated to Bill Clinton in 1992 than any other candidate in recent history. Bill Clinton was a new candidate on the national scene; he was running in a "change" oriented election cycle and the economy was voters' top issue -- a dynamic he was able to capitalize on. He received a 16-point bump coming out of his convention. Obama is also a "new" candidate in a change-oriented environment. And, like Bill Clinton, he will spend the convention presenting himself as the agent of change who will fix the economy.

Obama will ride his VP bump. In addition to Obama taking advantage of the political environment, he will announce his Vice Presidential candidate late this week. This announcement typically gives a candidate a 5-point temporary bump that dissipates. However, Obama's timing allows him to maximize his Vice Presidential bump and sustain press attention for the course of the week. He will ride the wave of an announcement from late this week (announcement expected by Saturday) through his speech on Thursday. This means that whatever bump he gains from the announcement has the potential to be lasting.

Obama will correct his underperformance with Hillary Clinton's primary voters and emerge with a much more cohesive base. This convention gives Obama a platform to unite his base. There continues to be a divide in the Democratic base: Between 10-15% of Democrats are voting for McCain or sitting on the fence. In target states, that number is even higher, between 15-20% in many surveys. The Obama campaign knows that winning or losing in states like Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania depends on Obama's ability to bring these voters home. If his convention successfully showcases Hillary Clinton and heals the wounds from the primary, he will move large groups of voters in those key places.

Obama's stadium address on Thursday -- the 45th anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech -- will result in effusive and overwhelming press coverage. On Thursday, Obama will give a great speech, as has been his trademark. The press will sing his praises and remark on his historic address and Obama's place in history. For example, The Associated Press today published an article comparing the historic nature of the addresses - a week before Obama's speech. This coverage will be impenetrable and will undoubtedly impact the polls.

We believe Obama will see a significant bump, and believe it is reasonable to expect nearly a 15-point bounce out of a convention in this political environment.

As if you need another reason to vote McCain. For the life of me, I hope she's wrong.

Good night, Lizards.

Joe Scarborough was pretty much saying that the campaign has turned. Scarborough stopped his thought and was like "get a shovel?" And Olbermann rambled off some numbers saying that McCain was not really in the race. And, Scarborough responded but Olbermann's mic seemed to be off at that point. Chris Matthews then took over and just dropped it.

When I was a student nurse, we had 3 months of OB training, and I can still remember what women in labor, long before the husbands were allowed in the labor room, would yell out when the contractions were close together..either they cried out for their Mums, or made some, uh, very scary threats about re-arranging their husbands' anatomy!

NY Grampa was never in the labor room for any of our 4 kids' births. The youngest is 36.

Makes me sick to think of any of our brave service people having to hear this garbage ! Sure you can turn the channel - but thats after the remark is heard/made.You couldn't pay me to watch. I'm just combing the pages here hoping to see a major catastrophe thread such as an uncontrollable flatulence attack hitting any one of them mid speech or some major gaff that will make it to youtube for a weeks worth of laughs. Obama and Ayers also live in the same South Side neighborhood. When Obama first ran for office, Ayers held an event for him at his home.

That's not true - Ayers held a fundraising event in '07 when Obama decided to run for POTUS and while it was in Billy Ayers house, which he shares with the ever so lovely Bernadine Dohrn, most press reports refer to it as a "Mansion" and Ayers raised something like 2.9 million bucks for Obama.

331 The Other Les  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 10:40:59pm

Whoa! Just found this...

Cindy McCain to visit distressed Georgia

Aug 25, 8:19 PM (ET)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - John McCain told a crowd at a fundraiser that his wife is on her way to the embattled nation of Georgia, an announcement coming just hours before Barack Obama's wife makes a high-profile speech at the Democratic National Convention.

McCain told a crowd that wife, Cindy, was to accompany him on the California swing and he apologized for her absence.

"Cindy is not here today, and I'm sorry she's not," said McCain. "She's on her way to the little country of Georgia."

He did not say why his wife was traveling there nor the precise nature of her visit.

Cindy McCain frequently does charity work overseas. Earlier this year, she traveled to Kosovo with Halo Trust, the international mine-removal group, and to Vietnam with Operation Smile, which provides surgery for children born with cleft palates, as the McCains' daughter Bridget was.

McCain has been a staunch supporter of Georgia in that nation's clash with Russia, and his wife's trip there serves to underscore his commitment. It also could deflect attention from Michelle Obama's convention speech in Denver as the Obama campaign seeks to introduce the family to voters.

In his speech to the fundraiser, McCain didn't mention Mrs. Obama's speech, but he did give the 500 people attending the event something of a history lesson.

"Georgia was one of the first Christian nations," McCain said. "Georgia, back in the Third Century, the king of Georgia converted to Christianity. You see churches there that date back to the Fourth and Fifth Century."

McCain said it's important to support Georgia because it's a democracy, but also because key oil pipelines run through the country.

re: #315 Racer X Hey there my friend! Hope you're well tonight! Actually while the records are coming out or being released, it will take time for reporters and other interested persons to go through them and report on them.
I expect nothing at all that would point any fingers at anyone - they are, for the most part, simply minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors.
The real "meat" in those papers, if there is any, is the tight connection between Billy Ayer and Obama.
And THAT'S why the Obama campaign has brought enormous pressure to bear on FOX and either CNN or CNBC, not to air the commercial I linked to in #328 above. And both of them caved in to that pressure. I suspect Cognito is reviewing the ad now, but I've watched it three times, and - having lived through those days as an adult, I can honestly say that everything in that ad is true. It tells of Ayers' history in the SDS Weather Underground and of his desire to have blown up more buildings and of his close ties to Obama. Those papers should show those close ties and the godddamn media should play that ad.

Yep, I agree. It's NOT good for Obama, but it is truthful. Ayers WAS one of the founders of the SDS Weather Underground, it did declare war on the United States, it did bomb buildings that led to one man's death and another's blindness (which the ad doesn't mention because while all the evidence points to Ayer's wife, Dohrn, she was cleared of the charges against her) and there is no doubt at all that Obama and Ayers are buddies - well insofar as the word "buddies" can be used with either one of them.
Shame on Fox, indeed.
THey were however - according to my Mom who was watching Fox, blackmailed into not airing it not JUST because the Obama Campagin threatend to boycott FOX's sponsors (bad enough) but also to pull FOX's credentials from the convention.

Collinsworth: Where does the patriotism come from inside of you? Historically, what is it?

Kobe: Well, you know it's just our country, it's... we believe is the greatest country in the world. It has given us so many great opportunities, and it's just a sense of pride that you have; that you say "You know what? Our country is the best!"

Collinsworth: Is that a ‘cool' thing to say, in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you're fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems sort of like a day gone by(?)

Sweet. Keep it up, Barry, it's gonna backfire on you in a huge way.

I'd like to see the stations that air it precede the ad with a comment from the station manager letting the audience know that the Obama campaign has threatened them with legal action for allowing the public to learn about the Obama/Ayers connection.

LOL! Hi ya LEE! Listen up he'ah - I was in fact born in North Carolina and I'm telling you that "Y'all" can be used to refer to the singular and the plural, but proper Souteners use Y'all only in the singular and "All Y'all" for the plural!
So y'all go shush yo mouth!

You may have been born there, but you didn't live there long enough to learn "the language." You said yourself that you grew up in NY and lived most of your life there... college at NYU, etc. ...then moved back. I understand that you really want to "talk right" down here, but someone's told you wrong. "Y'all" is plural. "All y'all" is plural with meaning... as in "don't make me pick up that shotgun!" Get it right, yank, or shut YO mouth!

378 Shiplord Kirel  Mon, Aug 25, 2008 11:08:15pm

Alex Jones is probably the most evil and depraved well-known person who has never been accused of murder.

Among not so well-known folk, my brother Judas (whose real name is Dan) takes the title. He is an adulterer, traitor, kidnapper, perjuror, and satan-class liar and hypocrite, since he is also a Baptist deacon and publicly outspoken Bible thumper.
He is not really that anonymous, come to think of it, since he is a widely known laughingstock in Texas. Unfortunately he lives in Massachusetts, where the community is blissfully unaware of his background and family history.

The family is divided into two groups, those who speak to him and those who speak to me. The greatest tragedy of my life is that my older daughter JJ is among the former, since her mother (aka Jabba the Slutt or Jezebel), is married to Judas, a relationship that started while the strumpet was married to me. (Yes, you read that right, the traitor was boffing his own brother's wife.)

JJ was a toddler when her mother left me and absconded with the traitor. They managed to keep her away from me for 15 years, in defiance of numerous courts, then perjured themselves so Judas could adopt her illegally, and quite literally brainwashed her to think this creepy arrangement was my fault.
JJ has never discussed it with me, not once, nor shown any interest in hearing my side of the story. My mother promised to set her straight but she never kept that promise and I am estranged from my mom as well.
For her part, JJ is now 31 years old and has two children. I saw one of these grandchildren when he was a baby but I have never seen the other. My younger daughter, who is 25 now and who had a different mother, has never met her half-sister. Daughter #2 is devoted to me and once called JJ a "heartless little bitch" when she didn't think I was listening.

Excuse me for venting, but damn them and all like them through the entire world and all of human history. So, you see, I have no trouble believing that evil is a living reality.

re: #344 tradewind As I said somewhere up above (damn meds have finally kicked in!) there is indeed a TV commercial which VERY BRIEFLY but VERY ACCURATELY tells the story of Obama and Ayers. And the Obama Campaign has threated MSM TV outlets from playing that ad (link for which is in my #328) with everything from the campaign notifying ALL of the sponsors of each of those who air it not to do so and in the case at least of Fox, unconfirmed rumors from a usually reliable and completely honest source, namely my Mom, Fox was threatened with having it's credentials pulled for the convention.
Oh, yes, Ayers and Obama are tight and Ayers who is still unrepenatant about what they did and if fact has been qouted as saying he wished they had succeded at blowing up more building as recently as '07 or '08, did in fact give a fundraiser at Billy and Bernadine Dhorns MANSION in Chicago last year and raised over $2.9 million bucks for Obama.
And Ayers will refuse to go under anybodies goddamn bus.

Sweet. Keep it up, Barry, it's gonna backfire on you in a huge way.

Now that scares me. It's clear already, proven time and again, that Obama moves swiftly to suppress any speech that is -- not wrong, or slanderous -- but simply doesn't make him happy.

I can't imagine the damage he could do to the First Amendment as President.

I know the First Amendment takes a lot of beating from some folks around here, usually as pertaining to the media, but this is where the abstract begins to become real -- we may soon arrive at a place where the First Amendment is threatened.

I hope the mainstream media hasn't been so eviscerated, at this point, in finances and will, that they won't stand up to this.

In the decades since, Biden voted to authorize the war, but long ago became one of the Senate’s surest critics of the conflict. Ironically, perhaps, his son, Beau, attorney general of Delaware, is due to spend a tour of duty in Iraq beginning this fall with his National Guard unit.

We do have a volunteer military. Ironic.

Excerpt from the Charleston Post & Courier…
It was Biden’s second try for the White House. The first ended badly in 1988 when he was caught lifting lines from a speech by British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock.
