Conventional Discussion Thread 4

Tue, Aug 26, 2008 at 3:47:41 pm PDT

We’ll open this evening’s discussions of the televised edition of the Democratic Convention, as Cecile Richards of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America takes the podium.

The highlight of the night, of course, is Hillary Clinton, scheduled to be onstage at about 10:30 pm ET.

UPDATE at 8/26/08 3:51:05 pm:

Give it up for the UFO Man, Dennis Kucinich!

Ah, Kucinich. He has been an itch under our scales for years, the only Democrat with even a pale clue what we are up to in that secret chamber under the Denver Airport.

Fortunately, nobody believes him, thanks to the Halliburton mind-control beam and the admittedly rough discipline administered by our Tsunami/Plane Crash division.
Once our Manchurian candidate, McCain, is in office, we are home free.
Btw, we are working on an order for 20 million head of moonbat, on the hoof, FOB Denver, for spring delivery. The principals have offered a new velcro formula and a software upgrade for our UAVs, and I have accepted. The roundup starts January 21st, with 650 black helicopters assigned to campuses and hippy warrens in the northeast alone.

...we are up to in that secret chamber under the Denver Airport.

Underground alien bases.

New York City
There is an entrance to the tunnels in New York City "in the vicinity of Midtown Manhattan that can be reached through an abandoned elevator shaft that only very few know about

The Nahanni Valley (Canada) Entrance
This covers 250 square miles in the southern end of the Mackenzie Mountains of Canada. It lies almost 550 miles due west of Fort Simpson on the Mackenzie River of northwest Canada. Hot springs and sulfur geysers keep the valley warmer than the surrounding areas by about 30 degrees year -round (the valley is above 60 degrees latitude), making it perpetually mist-covered. This valley is inhabited only by animals as people entering the valley are usually found headless and quite dead. The Indian tribes of the area avoid this valley. (These tribes include the Ojibways, the Slave, the Dogribs, the Stoney, the Beavers and the Chipweyans.) This valley is often referred to as "the Valley of the Headless Men.

The Liyobaa Cave Entrance
This was sealed off by Catholic Priests who believed it to be an entrance to "Hell." "The village of 'Liyobaa' or to translate, 'The Cavern of Death,' was located in the province of Zapoteca, somewhere near the ancient village of 'Mictlan' or the village of the 'Underworld.

"The Cavern of Death was actually located in the last chamber of an eight chamber building or temple. This temple had four rooms above the ground and four more important chambers built below the surface of the Earth. This building was located in "Theozapotlan," and the tunnel entrance led one beneath a mountain.

The Maltese Cave Entrance
This entrance is located on the island of Malta, near the small village of "Casal Paula." (This village is built on the "Corradino" plateau, and overlooks the capitol town of Malta, "Valletta," as well as Grand Harbour.) In 1902, workmen digging a well in Casal Paula fell into a subterranean cavern. The well was being dug for a house on "Hal Saflienti," the main street in Casal Paula. The cavern the workers had fallen into connected with an entire complex of caves and tunnels. This entrance is known as the "Hypogeum of Hal Saflienti." (In Latin, "Hypogeum" is the name for an underground structure.) "The tunnels under the Hypogeum have been sealed off even since a school took 30 students into the caves and disappeared, guide and all. Search parties were never able to locate any trace of the people and children.

The Staffordshire, England Entrance
Somewhere in Staffordshire, England, a lonely field exists in which a laborer discovered a large iron plate beneath the dirt. The "hatch" was large and oval, with an iron ring mounted on it. This entrance led into the tunnels. The field is in a valley surrounded on almost all sides by woods. The laborer was digging a trench for some purpose. The incident was reported in "A History of Staffordshire" by Dr. Plot, who wrote the book in the late 1700s. It may be possible to find the entrance if it can be ascertained exactly which valley the laborer was digging in.

The Dulce, New Mexico Base
An underground Military Base/Laboratory in Dulce, New Mexico connects with the underground network of tunnels which honeycombs our planet, and the lower levels of this base are allegedly under the control of Inner Earth beings or Aliens. This base is connected to Los Alamos research facilities via an underground "tube-shuttle." (It can be assumed that such a shuttle way would be a straight-line construction. It should then be possible, by using maps and some deduction, to determine the most likely location of this base, especially since the general location is already known.) Beginning in 1947, a road was built near the Dulce Base, under the cover of a lumber company. No lumber was ever hauled, and the road was later destroyed.

I heard on Jim Clyburn on Dennis Prager's show today, and he was tearing apart Pat Buchanan for referring to Obama as "the kid." Apparently, that's a racist comment.

Of course, Clyburn said nothing about Carter referring to Obama as the "black boy." Interesting.

You realize you can get a similar herd out of CA and you wont wear as much flesh off them on the drive to Colorado.

True, but we have scheduled a heavy snow fall for the Rockies this winter (to keep the media/lefties on the ski slopes a little longer), and it may not melted soon enough to meet the delivery timeframe. Even so, it is a worthwhile suggestion, so I'll see if there is any slack in the global warming schedule.

Btw, some of the hatchlings may not have seen the LGF Organizational Chart yet. This is not comprehensive by any means, but it is all we can release publicly in this continuum.

That's probably bad, as the more Marxist wing of the party gets even more power and influence than they have even now.

I think they have over-reached in a pretty big way. I'm not sure there has ever been a convention where the candidate actually lost ground from the VP pick and did not pick up ground during the convention. The infanticide/abortion issue is going to drive a tremendous number of people away. And now the Hillary camp is saying "hey - not our job to unify the party. That is the candidate's job." Meanwhile, Obama has spent his day out in the boonies ranting and raving about who has how many houses and how much money it takes to be rich.

That's what they seem to be saying. The first idea was that after a few states Hillary would stop the roll call. Next they were going to have the delegates vote at breakfast, then do a faux roll call for the cameras. When that didn't work out they proposed a secret ballot. Hillary's supporters are not having any of it.

In those days the conventions actually had a purpose. People voted on the candidates, and on the platform. There was backroom dealing, there were floor fights (vote, not fist). The '64 Republican convention, by all accounts, was a doozy.

This convention is merely a lengthy party to celebrate a fait accompli. To the extent it isn't--i.e., to the extent that the Clintons are trying to work some behind the scenes leverage--both sides are bending heaven and earth to keep such disagreements away from the cameras to avoid harshing the attendees' mellow, and to avoid any more internal damage than the Democrats have already sustained.

Plus, of course, the participants' actual agendas must be hushed up at all costs if the Democrats hope to prevail in November, which makes for an unending roll of dreary and contentless platitudes.

Yes. Yes. Yes.
Amen.

OT -

The symposium with Al-Jareeza at the Buffalo Rose is suspose to take place around 6:00pm tomorrow. I have read, on a blog, that the bikers who frequent the place are going to show up and protest.

The BR is only 2 miles from where I live, and I have to stop by the theatre at 5:00pm, and the theatre is only 2 blocks away, so I am going to saunter over there with my camera and see what's happening.

A lot of our local bikers take an all day Sunday ride, and they stop mid-afternoon at the Buffalo Rose for lunch and booze, and there are normally 50 or more bikes parked outside up and down the street. And they are really mad that the club is hosting Al-Jazeera, so it may get interesting.

I'm not Zombie, but I can take a decent picture, so if I get anything of interest, I will post them on my server and put up a link, hopefully by tomorrow evening.

403 Blue Chip  Tue, Aug 26, 2008 4:53:28pm

Obama & Biden? It’s ‘Puff & Gruff” in Saville Row suits.

As for Michelle’s speech last night:

I’ll say this – the kids were cute.

That was the best speech delivered by a woman since Judy Garland (playing Ester Blodgett) walked on stage to collect her (fake) Oscar and announced “I’m Mrs. Norman Maine!” Of course, the crowd went wild with cheering and applause and there’s not a dry eye in the house. The only difference is: one speech was calculated for maximum emotional effect, playing to a fake audience, choreographed to the hilt and stage managed to perfection by professionals - and the other one was in a sappy Judy Garland movie.

Btw: is the daughter’s name, Sasha, the left’s version of ‘Dakota’ or ‘Brianna’ - or just a new/old version of ‘Susan’ or ‘Sarah’?

Personally, I’d have been more interested in the ‘unvarnished’ version of Michelle Obama. All gloomy and cheerless, talking about how America is unfair to women, how the deck is stacked against you, with enemies around every corner spreading lies about her and her wonderful husband.

Oops, that’s Hillary’s speech from 1992.

That’s what I like about Michelle Obama: just like my morning martini, she’s strong, cold, and slightly bitter – and leaves a nasty aftertaste.

Anyway, it’s nice to see Ted Kennedy’s illness hasn’t affected his appetite – for applause. But let’s give the old dog his due: other than him, how many far left liberals from Boston actually get to run for President only to wind up getting rejected by the voters? (Not including John Kerry. Or Mike Dukakis.)

You do the math-I’m drinking martini’s & listening to show tunes...

I have to laugh -- I was reading an article on Obama's proposed "tax cuts" -- well, they're not "tax cuts." What Obama wants to do is raise every Federal tax (some in the double digits), then (if/when you file your income tax) you can get some of it back in the form of a "refund." (and, apparently, in order to get some of it back, you have to jump through govt hoops, etc.) But, Obama's lying when he claims he's going to institute a "tax cut."

Jewish delegates walk out on Carter

A handful of Jewish delegates staged a mini protest of Jimmy Carter moments ago, walking out of the Pepsi Center as the former president appeared on stage.

"Boo, boo, boo," shouted Barbara Effman of Sunrise, holding up "thumbs down" as she exited with state Sen. Steve Geller.

"Some people have mistakenly said they consider Sen. Obama anti-Israel," Geller said. "Sen. Obama is very strong and pro-Israel. President Carter is very anti-Israel. President Carter has been very pro-Palestinian, has published books full of lies about Israel and indicating a complete lack of understanding of the mid east peace process. I certainly was not going to stick around for that."

The democratic convention is quite a yawner, manufactured fire and passion that only applies to the party faithful. Obama shot himself in the foot on the change front when he selected Biden.

The lemmings of leftism are once again re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. If McCain loses this election he really is a tool.

Hillary will damn Obambi with faint praise, stirring up even more of her cougars to either sit on their hands in November or vote for McCain.
It seems to me Obama's people could have solved the Bill Clinton speech issue with offering Bill the alternative of an all-paid trip to a local lap dance emporium on the night in question. Bill might have a tough call to make then.

I am upset John Edwards wasn't asked to speak. He does represent the adulterer contingent of the democratic party now, after all. What about full representation?

Suck 10% out of the GNP of America? there's a formula for recession. Obama is planning on being the second term the voters denied Carter.

He has also proposed building a "civilian security agency" as large and as well equipped as the military - which he would then dramatically reduce.

The man knows nothing about economics, he is downright dangerous when it comes to medical care and that statement his wife keeps making that "Obama will require us to work" - nails on a chalkboard.

For all it's worth: despite the posturing, Russia will not start a nuke war. Putin is just trying to replay the Cold War, when Russia seemed big and bad and scary. That is why he is now picking on the "little guys". He wants the old-time glory and clout, but does not seem to realize that times have changed. However, Russians are more Western than we like to think. They do not want to die for some ephemeral bullcrap like the Jihadis do. They want to live. They want to prosper. They have no experience with freedom whatsoever. Putin took advantage of that. But I doubt it is forever.

True, but we have scheduled a heavy snow fall for the Rockies this winter (to keep the media/lefties on the ski slopes a little longer), and it may not melted soon enough to meet the delivery timeframe. re: #671 Sharmuta

Don't they get more MPG though?

In some ways. They have smaller cars. They do not drive as much as we do. The trains still go to almost everywhere, which they don't here. And their land use patterns are different. If you go out to farm country here, you'll go by a farm and the next one might be miles down the road. In Germany you'll have a dozen or more farmsteads with all of their outbuildings clustered together in a little village, then the land divided up in small plots, sometimes the same as it was hundreds of years back.

I agree 110%. Welcome to 4 more years of Carter if Obama is elected. Good news is, he'll be out in 4 years.

Big Oil! Drink!

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that read, "Vote McCain, Bush's Third Term." It was not meant to be an endorsement. The obvious rejoinder is, as you suggest, "Vote Obama, Carter's Second Term."

In most parts of the country, that would be a very effective endorsement for McCain, so have at it; however, I am reporting from Marin County, home of Barbara Boxer, so the tag wouldn't help John here.

No New Jersey delegates are speaking at the Convention. How did that happen? Well, Obama's people didn't like that Menendez was one of Hillary's big supporters.

He's trying to downplay that, but the action (or lack thereof) speaks louder than anything he would have said. There are ties that bind, and there are those that break - Hillary and Obama clearly haven't figured that out yet - and it's giving Democrats fits.

More recently, I read that she held her law license a mere three years and then turned it in voluntarily. Now that I would like to know more about. Nobody ever turns in a medical license or a law license willingly just because they feel like it.

Hell, I still pay the corporate charter for a construction company I own just to maintain a GC license for future use if I happen to need it.
I have been filling a bid goose egg on that sub chapter S for four years just to keep that credential.

I imagine most would crawl through ten miles of broken glass annually to keep a law license.

Even if you've got bruised egos, the idea is for Democrats to win the election, and they need NJ.

Pissing off the top NJ Democrats isn't the way to do it. It's something that could be exploited by the GOP - perhaps by giving a prime slot to a NJ GOPer like Scott Garrett. Something that will contrast with the Democrats snubbing all of NJ - and the GOP could point that out - namely running an ad to the effect that Democrats take you for granted. They want your money; your votes; your unending loyalty, and what do you get for it?

Higher gas and energy prices.
Higher taxes.

You deserve better.

I really like her, but have read many here say she's not a good choice. I agree she is too new to the "scene", but she sure would get a lot of votes for McCain.

But then the safe choice would be Mitt. and I like him, too.
I like our choices better than the Dem's! Obama missed a chance to wrap it up by passing over Hillary.

The biggest concern I have about Palin is that her relative inexperience would undercut McCain's major message thrust about Obama's inexperience.

They're so busy pandering to the middle class working families, I think the dems forgot to pander to seniors.

They are throwing people under the bus, assuming that streamlining their coalition toward the middle will woo the undecided voters.

The question is whether or not they are gaining or losing ground in the process. I don't see them going forward at all. Just empty talk about pie-in-the-sky ideals, with no explanation of how they are to be achieved, other than punishing people who employ people and raping the oil companies, which is an indirect "value-added" tax on the consumer, with hefty administration fees added.

re: #907 Sharmuta

They're so busy pandering to the middle class working families, I think the dems forgot to pander to seniors.

They can't - McCain is one of them! If they say "Awwww, poor seniors! We must give them everything!" then that is pandering. If they say "Seniors can do anything! They are still productive members of society!" then that undercuts McCain's age issue.

AARP has some insurance ads out, and they're heavily into "health care for all".

From what I’ve seen and heard of Sarah Palin, I like her very much.

Sadly, however, Sarah Palin is not a good choice if you think she'll gather up the disaffected PUMAs - for this reason:

Liberal women like liberal women. They can’t stand conservative women. They are very catty about conservative women. Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter . . . the list goes on and on.
Look at what was done to Katherine Harris after Florida 2000 - they trashed her clothing, her makeup (okay, they had a point there!)

Heck, Condi is not much of a conservative, and they trash the living daylights out of her, just because she’s associated with the Bush administration.

What do you think they’d have to say about a former beauty pageant winner? Not that there’s anything wrong with that, IMO, but they’d tear into Palin for that!

/IMHO

Dennis Miller a bit ago on Fox had a good point about this issue in regards to Michelle O's speech last night. He said that he would have loved to have met her father - this man who got up every morning and worked hard in order to be able to send his kids to college, and who realized the American Dream.

But then at the end, instead of making her father a symbol of all that is good about going after the American Dream, she turned it around and, in essence, slammed her father by saying that a college education should be free for everyone! Totally disregarding her father's hard work all his life.
