Good and the best is that this is out of Chicago. Obama can be hit in his nest. His roots are shallow. When he deflates he'll evaporate.

The best and most troubling thing I heard was on the Hugh Hewitt Show yesterday. A caller said he was a civil servant and he needed to go through a security clearance. He suspected that if he had a relationship with a known terrorist he probably wouldn't have his security clearance. Barack Obama probably would not get a security clearance if he was just looking for a job within the federal government, but would get it by virtue of being elected.

Pretty ironic that the potentially most powerful man in the world would not pass a standard security clearance to get a job within our government.

Talk about Obama and his guys shooting themselves in the foot!

At this point, especially after the lead up in the press to the DNC, Obambi should have a 20+ point lead. He is running neck and neck with McCain.

They should have just ignored this whole thing and let it blow over. Now it's got very long legs and the MSM will reluctantly have to pick the story up. Sure they will spin to try some damage control, but it will see the light of day. Kind of like the cheating Silky Pony Edwards story.

Conservative writer Stanley Kurtz—researching an article for the National Review about connections between Barack Obama and former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers—made a big mistake.

The poor man took a wrong turn on the Chicago Way. Now he's lost.

Kurtz's research was to be done in a special library run by the University of Illinois at Chicago. The library has 132 boxes full of documents pertaining to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation vested heavily in school reform.

Kurtz believes the documents may show Obama and Ayers were close—far closer than Obama has acknowledged—over oodles of foundation gifts on education projects the two worked on together.

First the librarians told Kurtz yes, come look. But by the time Kurtz landed in Chicago, the librarians changed their minds. The donor of the documents hadn't cleared his research. Perhaps they'll let him look at the documents on Nov. 5.

The relationship between the ambitious Obama and the unrepentant Ayers is a subject that excites Republicans, who haven't really thwacked that pinata as hard as they might. It really irritates Obama and his political champion, Chicago's sovereign lord, Mayor

Recall one story....that if MSM wouldn't have ignored/tried to discredit the Swift Boat Veterans in March, 2004, the story may have gone away. It would have gotten 2 weeks of play, and by November most people would have forgotten it.

But MSM tried to kill it. So the group said "fine, we will put a book out and buy air time to get our story out". So instead the story hits in September and makes a bigger splash.

That could happen here. But trying to first ignore, then squash this domestic terrorist issue, it could come back 3 times as large in Sept and October.

"Make the columns taller! Cut the back lighting. How is the halo effect going? Has the Chinese guy that faked the Olympics fireworks checked yet? When he does send him to my trailer. "

The simple truth vs the hype is the most effective strategy against this Potemkin Village of a candidate and his massive media production.

The more I see the Hollywood Light'n'Sound Obamextravaganza, the more I hope McCain makes a profound distinction between the two by appearing on a quiet, softly lighted stage, with single spotlighting.

He can tell us, "I'm not appearing here as a rockstar, a celebrity, or a media sensation. I'm appearing here as an American citizen, like all of you, with my vision of the future for the most noble nation humankind has ever known...."

I think Mac would be marvelously effective - and his moving and inspiring story best served - with a simple backdrop that highlights not his stage presence but his war story, and emphasizes the quiet strength of his experience. Think how much more penetrating this would be (and what a damning contrast would be made!) if done as a stage monologue by a senior statesman, rather than a 3-ring circus led by an overdone clown.

What's wrong with Chicago? Good example of how f*cked up and corrupt that city is. The city demands that anyone doing business with the city has to disclose any ties to slavery from 175 years ago. You own a bank, who bought an insurance company, which as an office in the south that was started in 1840 and had a co-owner who owned a slave, your 11 billion dollar company is considered tied to slavery according to Chicago.

The city of Chicago is run 100% by the Democrat party. The party of slavery and slave owers up until 1865. Some irony there.

Why let the truth stand in the way of gaining power. Most voters haven't a clue about what happened a month ago, let alone decades ago. What the old media reports is what most people remember, and then only if it was aired within a week.

What's even more ironic (and disgusting) is the fact that people with security clearances will risk their lives to acquire and safeguard the information that will be placed on that man's desk each morning.

He wouldn't be allowed anywhere a nuclear weapon, either. Yet the dems have nominated him to hold the football.

IBD on BHO and Ayers.

When Obama's association with William Ayers was raised at a Democratic debate this year, Obama replied: "This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood. . . . He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis."

Tuesday's release of papers from a Chicago school reform project known as the Annenberg Challenge shows once again Barack Obama has a problem with the truth.

The long-sought records that were kept under wraps at the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC), show that Obama and Ayers attended board meetings, retreats and at least one news conference as the education project got under way. The records also show the two continued to attend meetings together during the 1995-2001 operation of the program.

Shouting down the opposition is a classic Stalinist tactic. Not surprisingly, it's being used to stifle debate regarding Obama's hard-core left wing past.

It's unfortunate that civil discourse has come to this.

107 MandyManners  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 10:28:46am

Obama was given the Annenberg board chairmanship only months before his first run for office. He ran the fiscal arm that distributed grants to schools and raised matching funds.

During Obama's tenure as Annenberg chairman, Ayers' own education projects received substantial funding. As we've noted in our series, "The Audacity of Socialism," Ayers, now a tenured distinguished professor of education at UIC, works to educate teachers in socialist revolutionary ideology, urging that it be passed on to impressionable students.

One of Ayer's descriptions for a course called "Improving Learning Environments" says prospective K-12 teachers need to "be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and . . . be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, teaching for social justice and liberation."

Obama campaign lawyer Robert Bauer has warned station managers suggesting their broadcast license might be at risk: "Your station is committed to operating in the public interest, an objective that cannot be satisfied by accepting for compensation material of such malicious falsity."

Bauer has also written twice to the Justice Department demanding "prompt action to investigate and to prosecute" Simmons and AIP for violation of campaign laws and individual contribution limits. The problem is that, as the Annenberg papers show, the ad is breathtakingly true and accurate.

The only thing needing investigating is why Obama is trying so hard to hide his past. Full disclosure is change we can believe in.

It angers me that the MSM has been covering up for the Democrats for so many years, that many, many people have no idea what is going on. The actions of the Obama campaign, from death threats to Hillary delegates, to threatening radio and tv stations about an acurate ad, covering up Pelosi's lies about the Catholic church's abortion views, the people like Ayres that Obama counts as good friends, to the utter corruptions of so many of the Democrats sitting in Congress, and on and on. To see our media poster wringing his hands over that things happening to his fellow reporters, and upset that people may not see the changes roaring closer and closer with the possibility of an Obama presidency. This is what happens when the people of this country are deprived of real reporting and news of all happenings in this country. They do not know what is going on. How many of us are introducing fellow workers and family to the new media, to find they are shocked, shocked on what they had no idea that was going on around them. I hope this arrests in Denver, finally, wake up the MSM. By successfully giving cover to a very corrupt group of people, you have endangered yourselves, as well as the rest of us.

The UIC file lock up and the legal threats made to rightfully acting radio station managers and staff is a deliberate attempt to stifle free speech and information. It may even be illegal.

Depending on how this plays out and what kind of press and blog coverage it gets, this could be very bad for Mr. Obama.

Tactics straight out of Saul Alinsky's playbook, Rules for Radicals.

"Wherever possible go outside the experience of the enemy. Here you want to cause confusion, fear and retreat."

"Make the enemy live up to his/her own book of rules. You can kill them with this. They can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity."

"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also, it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."

"The threat is generally more terrifying than the thing itself."

"In a fight almost anything goes. It almost reaches the point where you stop to apologize if a chance blow lands above the belt."

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it." (Think Gingrich, Lott and the success of name-calling used by the likes of Bill Clinton, Paul Begala, James Carville, Maxine Waters and others against conservatives and Republicans. Think of how Clinton "enemies" like Paula Jones or Linda Tripp were treated.)

"One of the criteria for picking the target is the target's vulnerability ... the other important point in the choosing of a target is that it must be a personification, not something general and abstract." (Trent Lott comes to mind. Meanwhile, a former Klansman by the name of Sen. Robert Byrd got away with saying "n*****" on Fox News at least three times, and he still maintains his Senate seat and power.)

"The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength." For instance, Democrats imply conservatives are racists or that Republicans want to kill senior citizens by limiting the growth of the Medicare system, they imply Republicans want to deny kids lunch money without offering real proof. These red-herring tactics work.

PLAYBOY: Having accepted your own mortality, do you believe in any kind of afterlife?

ALINSKY: Sometimes it seems to me that the question people should ask is not "Is there life after death?" but "Is there life after birth?" I don't know whether there's anything after this or not. I haven't seen the evidence one way or the other and I don't think anybody else has either. But I do know that man's obsession with the question comes out of his stubborn refusal to face up to his own mortality. Let's say that if there is an afterlife, and I have anything to say about it, I will unreservedly choose to go to hell.

PLAYBOY: Why?

ALINSKY: Hell would be heaven for me. All my life I've been with the have-nots. Over here, if you're a have-not, you're short of dough. If you're a have-not in hell, you're short of virtue. Once I get into hell, I'll start organizing the have-nots over there.

PLAYBOY: Why them?

ALINSKY: They're my kind of people.

Can I ask a simple question?

What the hell is wrong with Illinois Chicago voters?

It's more accurate as Chicago voters. We, in the rest of the state, have been trying to get rid of this shit to no avail. They always find way to con older voters, bus in supporters, destroy votes, and raise the dead to vote for them. The last election between Tony Pericia and Todd Stroger is an excellent example. Boxes of ballots were brought in from the suburbs with their seals broken. Boxes of ballots from Pericia supporters were tampered with to make Stoger (the Machine candidate) the winner for the Cook County Board Presidency.

[Link: globallabor.blogspot.com...]

That site is a gold mine. One of the most interesting posts speculates that Obama may have been considering a run for Mayor of Chicago in 1995, when Harold Washington died. He makes a good case that this explains some of Obama's more problematic associations, such as Jeremiah Wright -- these would be assets, not problems, in a mayoral race.

Chicago's "Citizen of the Year"? Obama, Ayers and Daley

but but but - the New communist has such a big beautiful smile. So what if he's trying to kill free speech?

260 aboo-Hoo-Hoo  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:04:03pm

Oh my goodness. After listening to some of these callers, the Democrat's should never, ever ask their supporters to be call-in critics or debate an issue.

Good grief. What friggin hoot.

261 neocon hippie  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:06:48pm

re: #260 aboo-Hoo-Hoo

Did you just download or stream the broadcast, or did you do so awhile ago? I am having no luck and it appears to me that the broadcast was removed from WGN's website. I hope they were not intimidated by the Obamunists.

262 Yankee Zionist  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:11:44pm

Amazing stuff.

The callers are UNBELIEVABLE.

263 aboo-Hoo-Hoo  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:11:52pm

neocon, I'm listening to the pod-cast Charles posted above. I did have some problems getting it to load but refreshing the page seemed to take care of it.

264 Yankee Zionist  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:19:05pm

The most damning part of that episode was listening to Kurtz's summary of the projects that got funded and those that didn't.

In short, projects that promoted racial identity got funded over those projects that promoted academic achievement.

This Annenburg stuff needs a closer look. Obama had strong influence over this organization. What projects did he support the funding of and which did he oppose? If the Annenburg Challenge spent most of its money ($110 million!) on racial stuff, and not academic achievement, then we understand why it did not have a positive impact on schools in Chicago.

AMAZING STUFF. The callers could not address the issues Kurtz raised, but instead resorted to bullying and whining. Revelatory stuff.

265 Yankee Zionist  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:20:57pm

re: #254 Dr. Shalit

re: #6 pat

$50M? Wow. Pretty good for a guy who hates money.

No, the program spent a total of $110 MILLION. AND DID NOT SHOW ANY MEASURABLE RESULTS. AND OBAMA WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE.

266 de La Valette  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:22:36pm

Now I know why the Dems nixed the Townhall style debate. Not because McCain would wipe the floor with Obama - but because their supporters asking questions and making statements would alienate most of the voters and expose the left end of the Democratic pool as a real swamp.

267 de La Valette  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:27:54pm

re: #258 doppelganglander

The more I read the more thunderstruck I am that none of this has hit the electorate yet.

So, Obama supports "reparations for slavery" through a massive grant to black schools - supporting of course radical teachers' unions, citizen committees, and other hangers-on. Its his likely education secretary idea - and we haven't heard her name before - was Hilary asleep at the switch.

re: #263 aboo-Hoo-Hoo

It's downloading now, albeit quite slowly

269 HBob  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:30:42pm

I think one of the most interesting part of this interview is the interviewer's reaction to camp Obama's over-reaction. He sounds fairly shocked and a little disgusted with the attempted bullying by the Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign is either going to get screwed to the wall by facts, or by their reaction to facts - or both. Start the popcorn popper.

It's worth the wait, don't be taken-back by the stated length in the intro - time flys and all that. ;)

re: #258 doppelganglander

Written by a liberal Chicago labor union guy (clearly a liberal with integrity), the site has more detailed information about Obama and the Ayers family in Chicago than anything else I've found.

It answers many of the questions about Obama and Ayers currently being asked. Most shocking is that Tom Ayers, Bill's father and chairman of Commonwealth Edison, a pillar of the establishment, was a liberal involved in this left-wing stuff, and helped Obama advance his career with the Chicago establishment, including placing him with Sidley & Austin.

272 interloper  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:52:44pm

Obama, Pelosi, Gore, etc. etc.
When criticized they all shout the critics down and call for the fairness doctor, Boo-freakin-Hoo you baby if you can't stand the heat get out of the kichen.

8 years of relentless personal attacks against Pres. Bush and I didn't hear him cry like these babies.

I can not trust one who wants to be a leader who has such a thin skin
Obama is loosing composure every time he doesn't get a glowing review.

Pelosi has stolen our representation from the ENTIRE COUNTRY because no congress person can do what their constituents demand without 'the queens say so" and she says "let them eat cake" when it comes to drilling for oil where the Venezuellans are and the Chinese are RIGHT OFF OUR OWN COAST.

Gore a puppet of the C.F.R. telling everyone CO2 is somehow baaaad, and getting rich creating cottage industries that will benefit off the misery of what esentially is his plan to tax AIR.

Below is an article about Obama's reaction against WGNs radio

#253 FrogMarch

It's communist

.

No kidding. Obama scares me. He's all image. Any substance you can find (Ayres, Wright), is not good. The fact that Obamabots tried to silence Kurtz is no surprise. Think of other conservative speakers (Colter, Pipes, Horowitz) who have to hire bodyguards to speak at college campuses, or who get shut down altogether. The left only believes in "free speech" for themselves, not for others.

Anybody who thinks the left is not fascist doesn't know what they're talking about.

275 Irenike  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 2:06:09pm

I thought about making a t-shirt of Barak in a Che beret, with the caption "Obami Commie."

re: #232 JohnnyReb

You and tfk are beginning to sound like these guys.

277 John  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 2:22:05pm

It was truly disturbing to hear the content of what Stanley Kurtz has discovered in the U of I library, but even more so to see the brutish intolerance of dissent and outright stupidity of the callers sent by the Obama machine to stop the program. I'm 58 and have never felt that kind of fascism before.
It's really scary what Obama could bring to the country if elected.

278 VMA211Dan  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 2:22:11pm

This is great.
Thanx all for the links.
I really hope this gets some traction. This is the kind of thing that can grow from here ala Edwards.

The MSM won't cover it until they are forced to i.e. lawsuits, where the Obama campaign is happy to oblige.
Bring it on.

279 HBob  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 2:23:34pm

It's really creepy how vapid the callers arguments are and funny how surprised the interviewer is with all this. The poor guy had no idea what the left is truly like.

Also, this is the first time we've had a campaign with this much availability to this kind of information. And the left hates this. I don't think there was much archiving and posting of shows like this even four years ago. The left is going to get worse and worse. More and more rabid.

280 Summer  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 2:58:38pm

Wow...

I just listened to the whole thing. The people calling in to support Obama are...scary.

Except for the last guy. He sounded like he could have a reasonable discussion and was slightly eager to have a genuine debate. That's good. But the other people were just fucking nuts.

It's like Obama's own personal Gestapo volunteer force in action.

And Milt and Kurtz were the very soul of patience. I guess this is what happens when you put reason and logic up against the dogma of Obama.

281 DaMishMan  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 3:15:01pm

Well.

That was certainly enlightening. I was impressed with the host and his tact and patience. He kept a handle on things and wouldn't let the callers, whether for or against, try to usurp air time to over-pontificate.

More then once I shook my head and sighed or made a pointed comment to my computer as the drones sent forth by the Obama email ranted on about how unfair it was that Dr. Kurtz was on and how dare they do this on the Democratic convention night, blah, blah, blah. Especially the caller who came on in the 74th minute...it sounded like he was about to cry.

I do hope that a guest who wishes to debate against John McCain is brought on during the Republican convention. I'll bet you my paycheck for this week that his campaign will send someone to counter him or her.

Unlike the Obama and the DNC, McCain and the RNC don't fight thru proxies and drones.

282 rawmuse  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 3:18:32pm

Wow, I just listened to the entire podcast.
I am left with a chilling sense of foreboding as to what the future will hold if we have a President Obama.
Just listen to his supporters who called in, not to debate, or to rebut a single point, but to have the interview stopped. It was absolutely chilling, especially when the broadcasting parties could not have been more polite.
We could be about to enter a new era of thought crimes and hate speech.
Now, pardon me, I must go buy ammo.

283 HelloDare  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 3:28:29pm

Charles, thanks for posting this. The thought police have already organized. Now all they have to do is win an election.

The Leftist Rationale At Work:

It's OK for Amadinnerjacket to come and speak at our universities, but it is not ok for WGN to allow and American Academic come speak his opinion about an American running for President?

286 TheMadKing  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 4:14:11pm

I'm downloading the mp3 now, but I know what I'm going to hear. Vitriol that would make Heimlich Himmler cringe.

I meant Heinrich.

BTW After checking out the photos of the ObamaDome at the NY Post, IMHO it will look not like Olympus on TV, but a great big Gate behind Obama on TV.

I wonder what that will remind eligible voters of in Pennsylvania of. You know, the whole 'cling to guns and religion' thing?

287 garycooper  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 4:31:25pm

That was a fantastic show!

The Obamanation callers, in general, sound like they would fit in perfectly in one of Zombie's photoessays.

As always, the cover-up is always more disturbing and harmful than the "crime." Obama's relationship with Ayers needs a lot more examination, imho, now that he's gone to such lengths to hide it.

288 NBJ49  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 5:00:56pm

"Clearly the relationship between Ayers and Obama is much deeper and longer than Obama admits. They in fact were partners in various entities and regularly exchanged ideas, including on how to turn Chicago schools into re-education camps to create a generation of social revolutionaries"

I find this chilling.

My friends on LGF. My downstairs neighbor is Milt Rosenberg. I assure you, he is not a tool of the right of the left. Milt is an unassuming intellectual.
He is a naturally curious person. If you met him on the street, you might find him a bit odd.

He has this program, and has had it for years and years. He interviews all kinds of people. Milt could be described as bookish. When a popular book comes out, Milt reads it and interviews the person.

I have never heard Milt talk about his political views. In his public life, and his personal relationships, he is apolitical. I assure you, he was not trying to skewer the Obama campaign, or prop up the McCain campaign.

He was just trying to interview a person of the moment.

290 pittrader1988  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 5:04:28pm

BTW, I was at a party in Chicago. Bill Ayers was there. When asked if he knows Obama, he said that he used to babysit the Obama children.

The relationship is thisclose.

291 David IV of Georgia  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 5:24:57pm

I just finished listening to the whole thing. It was amusing hearing callers use the tactics of internet trolls. I especially liked the lady that called in and kept backing her views with unverifiable citations: it's been proven (by whom?), it's common knowledge (hmmm. I didn't know that.), it's already been addressed/answered (when? where? how?). When asked for more specific support for her contentions, she just gave more non-specific vague generalizations. Good find, KT.

292 Bosch Fawstin  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 5:43:52pm

This connection with Ayers is going to bury Obama in the end, as it should be. And to hear Obama's mindless, emotionally distraught supporters attempt to guilt trip the station for daring to have this guest on really reminds us of how intolerant they are to truth.
