Democrats will kneel before the “Temple of Obama” tonight.

OT: Just had lunch with my Mother, who just declared her and my Father's support for Obama. I expected as much, but her jaw dropped when I declared my support for McCain. I told her about my misgivings about Obama, and she rolled her eyes, sighed, and muttered "You heard that on the Internet, huh?" Then shook her head in disappointment at my acceptance of propaganda.

Still listening to the WGN radio show, glad to see PJM working on this. Hope that PJM uses Charles' tech skills to smooth the interface on all their blogs. They need the tools that LGF has, preview, link embeds, italics, strikes, (need underline), bold, limited refresh, new thread notice in the thread.

34 Sunlight  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 11:04:01am

Charles - I looked around PJTV yesterday. Very cool. I subscribed today... I would like a "PJTV Beta Subscriber" (for life) logo to put on my new technology blog and on my facebook (through which I am staying in touch with an international coterie)... for PJTV's free advertising benefit and for the ongoing promotion of this type of media (which will help my blog). Also, have you guys talked to Michael Totten about maybe submitting some of his reports to PJTV? He seems to be doing photos rather than video, but maybe he'd switch over to a HD video/photo handycam. I do think he records interviews, so that could be some material... Did you see that IBD editorials had Michael front and center on their editorial re dealing with Russia? Who should I contact about the logo?

I didn't ding him down, but personally, I think it's bad manners to register here, then pop in 6 times in 2 years, probably for the sole purpose of plugging your own blog, and not for the purpose of ever participating in discussions here.

The "regulars" participate here regularly. I've never seen "el marco" before.

Saw you on the trailer, Charles. Nice! I am really excited about the prospect of seeing PJTV's coverage of the RNC instead of the usual gang of MSM idiots.

And it's great that the subscription for laptop viewing is only $10 a month through 9/30. A small price to pay for what we're going to get.

In a way, this is a good thing and an opening with them.

If they didn't see anything wrong with it, that is how they would respond. That they refuse to believe it and consider the accusations "attacks" shows they consider those bad things for Obama to have done/known.

If we can get them to admit outloud (and therefore to themselves) that these would be bad things if true, then it is just a matter of proving them.

If we don't get them to admit TO THEMSELVES, then when the accusations are proven true, they merely adjust their internal goal posts and say it doesn't matter or those actions aren't that bad.

I have been having some serious talks with my SIL....I about fell out of my chair the first time I heard him say he was not going to vote for McCain because it would be just like still having Bush. I think I even ended up raising my voice at him a few times that eve. I don't think it was as much as him wanting Obama as him not wanting another Bush.

Exactly! My parents HATE Bush and think McCain is exactly the same. Actually, they HATE the "Republicans" and especially Bush for giving our jobs away to China... Are the Republicans really to blame for that? My Dad's a retired UAW worker, who blames all evils in the world on China and its "stealing" of American jobs. Every family get-together for the past several years have been nothing but China-bashing fesitivals, and how China's rise at the expense of our middle class is fulfulling Revelations and bringing the end times... My parents have some weird pseudo-Apocolyptic "Christian" theories about all this. I try not to get involved in these discussions because of this...heh.

I'm no fan of outsourcing all of our industry to China; but whose fault is it? China's, the Republicans, Clinton, or just the changing global market?

"Barack Obama might finally be seeing some bounce out of the star-studded Democratic National Convention.

The Gallup Daily Tracking Poll on Thursday showed the Democratic presidential nominee up 6 points over rival John McCain, 48 to 42 percent, with a 2-point margin of error."

Pat Robertson is also tangentially linked to the Heritage Foundation. I don't like it either.

55 notreallyme  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 1:43:03pm

I don't like the player. First of all, you have to install yet another player to get it to work, does it run on anything besides an X86 processor? Why do I have to install software for YOUR media player to see it on my computer? Why not standard players?

Second, I tried to copy the Morse code in the background and there is too much noise for my poor ears, and it's too fast. I'd say close to 35 wpm, which is beyond many ham radio operators, and former "spooks".

It brought out several faults IMHO in the player, you can't tweak the audio and go back well. The video seems to be broken into segments, and you can go back or forward in a segment, or back to the beginning, but not back a little bit in the previous segment.

You can't adjust the brightness and contrast of the picture, so it shows
up on my screen like a Hamas meeting after a power cut.

I don't think I'll subscribe, I'll wait for the lowres version to come out on YouTube or Miro, where I can download it while I sleep and watch it with a player I already have that allows me to adjust the video, seek where I want to and so on.

I'm somewhat disappointed, I thought Charles was a leading edge web guru and I never expected to see something that looks like it came out of CBS (Moblogic, or Wallstrip 2.0). What's next, car commercials that you fall asleep in the middle of before the real content?
(sorry if I'm being overly harsh)

Geoff.

I have voted for a Democrat twice in my life. Carter. In 1976. First and last.

58 mph  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 2:08:58pm

My thoughts/opinion after checking out pjtv.com for the first time:

The Alpha launch should definitely be free. I might subscribe (at least initially) out of curiosity -- but I doubt many PJM readers will spend $10 to $30 per month for an alpha product that hasn't even been fully defined.

I sense that the pricing strategy was developed around the notion that this is roughly what people pay for HBO -- and subscribers spend a good 10 to 20 hours a month watching. My gut feeling is that paying for news (even if it is a news/entertainment hybrid) is a tougher sell.

Rush Limbaugh sells access to his show archives in various digital formats for something like $7/month (as do many other shows). I wonder if a business model like this might be considered -- though ultimately -- a corporate sponsorship is probably the best way to go (like BoingBoing TV).

NY Times Select never got any Insta-launches (or Drudge landslides or Huffington Post love) behind their subscription login screen. Considering the quality of the people signed up to host PJTV (and I hope to see more Stephen Green for sure) it would be a shame to stunt the reach of a potentially awesome service.

Hi

Great idea & I hope it works but I think the pricing is too steep. I understand everyone needs to get paid but the Internet is a tough way to make a living.

The other thing is it is very USA centric. I think if this is truly to be Media 2.0 your commentators should be from all over the world. As an Australian two names immediately spring to mind - Andrew Bolt & Tim Blair.

Good luck
