RetweetZombietext Update: Obama Frenzy at Invesco Field

Thu, Aug 28, 2008 at 4:01:25 pm PDT

(Received from Zombie via text message...)

Live-blogging from Invesco Field. Walked all the way here with 1000 potheads on the marijuana march. The scene out here is crazy; endless lines six abreast stretching for miles from every stadium entrance. Obama frenzy is palpable in the air.

Oooh - the Fred Phelps crazies just went by, carrying “God hates fags” signs. There they go.

Parking spaces are $80 each near the stadium. I saw several seniors close to fainting in the heat...

MSM members are all around in this A&W place across from Invesco, buying sodas to keep from passing out, and calling in their stories. No way I’m getting in to see The Sermon on the 50-yard line - it’s booked solid. The MSM guy next to me just told his editor that traffic is backed up five miles around the stadium.

(More to come...)

$80?! And this is from the party for the working man?

On FoxNews earlier, one of their reporters said that they were told they needed to pay $2000 to park 8 vehicles in a lot. She said the price started at $50 per vehicle, then went up to $100 per, and finally the guy told them it would be $2000 for the 8 vehicles, and so she and entourage left and set up shop somewhere else.

There a few and far between city sponsored parking in that area. I suspect that those prices are being charged by the private lots, owned by good capitalist.

If he gets elected and has the EPIC FAIL his empty suit of a soul is apt to have; I really wonder if the AA community might reconsider their political leanings. It is a tragedy that Johnson was able to buy off the AA community with 'the great society''s welfare policies. Taking the AA from a path of self reliance and liberty granted by Republicans, to one of utter dependence and political slavery under the near monolithic Democratic voting block, has been one of the biggest betrayals in history.

72 shibumi  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 4:14:28pm

Ha, that touches a nerve, doesn't it? We should continue to point out that MLK was a Republican. Who can have a problem with the truth? The truth will win. I love this woman:

"I absolutely do not regret the ads," said Rice, 62, a native of Atlanta, King's hometown. He "absolutely was a Republican," she insisted. "We were all Republicans in those days. The Democrats were training fire hoses on us, siccing dogs on us."

Suppose you owned one of the ramps, knowing the elite of the DNC will want to park as close to the stadium as possible, to avoid walking or commuting with the great unwashed.

Obama's team comes to you and says, "We know your price point is $80 for these spaces. How about if you charge just $20 and we'll make good on the rest?" Long live our noble Obama,

Send Him victorious,
Hope(tm)ful and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
Obama save the Obama.

O Obama, our Barack, arise,
Scatter His enemies,
And make them Change(tm).
Confound our politics,
Frustrate our knavish tricks,
On Thee our hope(tm)s we fix,
Obama save us all.

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On Him be pleased to pour;
Long may He reign:
May He defend our abortion laws,
And ever give us cause
To redistribute wealth and healthcare

Almighty Zeus's podium will ascend from the stage and the one will bless the crowds with his words and everyone who listens will marvel at the depth of his knowledge. In the background will be a facsimile of the Acropolis even though we are told that it is supposed to resemble the Lincoln Memorial ...odd since Lincoln was a republican. I believe there will be a replica of the fuselage of Airforce One...oh the arrogance of it all...

So far the Democratic convention has been an exercise in single pointedness...they are convinced that they are running against George W. Bush. Their efforts to make John McCain out to be the same as Bush could end up backfiring as all that has to happen at the Republican convention is for the McCain camp to make the case that McCain is a maverick and that when you get by all the unanimous votes (where both McCain, Obama agree which is about 85% of the votes taken in the Senate) of taking short breaks, adjournments, renaming post offices and congratulating sports teams...McCain has opposed Bush numerous times. This would have the effect of rendering the entire democratic convention moot.

This whole let's take a page from John Kennedy isn't going to play well. A parody of words comes to mind here: "we saw John F. Kennedy, We knew JFK and you Senator Obama are no John F. Kennedy"

BTW, I just watched some of the videos about the meltdowns that are going on over there.

Wow.

I completely agree with you. Obama has always been about the ultimate triumph of style over substance.

Regarding the meltdowns... these people are teaching in our childrens schools, holding public office locally, running businesses... scary, isn't it?

re: #130 godfrey

Not ironic at all. It's called appropriation. The Left is fixated on symbols and representation. Anything they can take over, invest with their alternative meaning, and thereby pervert, is fair game. That is a tactic of supremacists.

The Lincoln Memorial is a perfect example. Do you think Obama has anything whatsoever to do with Lincoln, on principle? Absolutely nothing. Lincoln and all that he stood for is a threat to Obama's supremacism. The old Lincoln must die, symbolically, so that the New Lincoln (Obama) can live.

Do you see?

Obama is the Anti-Lincoln.

I was looking over an advance copy of Obama's speech and found this:

“We meet at one of those defining moments – a moment when our nation is at war, our economy is in turmoil, and the American promise has been threatened once more."

Never mind the economy GREW a rate of 3.3% last quarter,I have a question:

What IS the "American PROMISE" anyway?

Now I can see someone with an entitlement mentality THINKING that America should promise them a living...and food...and health care...and whatever. But I just never heard any normal person comment on the belief that this country should promise anyone anything.

223 really grumpy big dog Johnson  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 4:38:00pm

I think Obama is styling this using an old-time gospel revival as the template. People swaying in rapture in the audience. It seems like a large part of the African-American population of Denver is in attendance.

There's one younger white guy I saw in the crowd wearing an Obama shirt, who looked like he was thinking "Why am i here?"

When people leave tonight, I think the attempt is to make many of them think that thay have found The Way.

Very Obama.

Usual parking is 15 dollars in the city lots around the stadium and ballpark.

But these lots at 80 dollars are PRIVATE LOTS, and I see nothing wrong with them getting what they can.

Isn't that what we are always preaching about, the Amercian Dream, capitalism.

There a few and far between city sponsored parking in that area. I suspect that those prices are being charged by the private lots, owned by good capitalist.

I don't think there is any way that either campaign could ditate the parking prices.

If I owned a lot there, I'd be charging big bucks as well. But I would bring in lights, provide security and escorts to your vehicle after the event.

My response to the Obamaniacs:

YOU BOWED DOWN
Roger McGuinn, 1990

I suppose you're entitled to know
Why I'm making contact
With acqaintances scattered
All over the land
I'd promise you now and again
That I'd honor the contract
If it hadn't crumbled away in my hand
Well we broke that vow independently now
But I don't know why you absolutely deny

You bowed down
You bowed down

When you first looked away
I might say it was really a kindness
I must have hurt to see how dreams sour
Now they say that justice and love
Are the next things to blindness
Well you're getting plenty
Of both of them now
And so you parade where
Appointments are made
And never meant to be kept
Unless you accept

You'll value the burnt amber of falling leaves
And you'll long to delay
You feel their breath as they whisper
It won't hurt you now to betray
If you just bow down

And now every time that we meet
On the edge of hysteria
You're helping them sell off
Some new party line
I remember a time when you
Would have seemed so superior
Now you say "will you please
Meet this good friend of mine"
So you're in demand as long
As you kiss their hand
But all the applause
Is for their name not yours

If Obama's team was smart (they are not, really), they would've presented Obama more as a populist than an elitist. He could've won everything by being genuinely humble and self-effacing -- that is, if he actually had the brains to offset that pose, which he doesn't.

It's a mess. Obama's entire campaign is a weird, surreal mess.

Yes, in non-subtitled German for film school. By the end of it there was just me and I think two other guys out of the original several dozen.

I agree with this totally, however, the Republicans also did a terrible job of communicating this to black America and in fact very, very few Republicans at the time were visible in the struggle to end terrible wrongs done to black American citizens since Reconstruction. This was the perspective of people in my family who were life long Republicans, which was the only party for blacks for a hundred years. Democrats won the black electorate with Civil Rights an issue which Republicans completely dropped the ball. I think bringing the black vote back to the party of Lincoln has and will continue to be a priority since the Dems have certainly abused the relationship for decades.

Near the end of that speech, he claims he's going to go after al Qaeda, etc. (Daniel Pipes recently wrote an article about how Muslims think of Obama -- and there are radicals who believe Obama is an apostate Muslim -- and if this Obama is saying "I'm gonna go after Muslims", that sounds like a challenge (a throwing down of the gauntlet) from an apostate...what does Obama want, another 9/11? Obama is clearly dangerous...)

He'll go after them alright. To sign a surrender . . .

Carter's whole life has been a race to get away from Billy and that peanut business. He was only distinguished in his wardroom as being unusually undistinguished. Roselyn yanked him out of that quick and then realized the last thing she wanted was life back in Plains. A USSS officer once told me they'd send a young guy with an attitude down to wash Roselyn's car for two weeks and he'd come back with his attitude all adjusted.

McCain needs to bring a little energy. The great thing that Saddleback showed is that he can bring "intensity." He's the guy to face down Putin.

McCain can take oil away from Obama. He can take geopolitics away from him, and national defense. He needs to take away the economic sting issues. And to do that, he needs to bring back Reagan's belief in creativity, innovation, flexibility, and tax relief. He can out-do Obama's proposals.

But he also needs to win the "future" vote with the freedom, optimism and ingenuity that makes this country so frickin' GREAT.

I can't get as giddy about the adulation that many seem to have... I don't like all this keening and blind submission. It does not speak well for critical thinking or from voting folks from objectively weighing the future leader of our country. This is mass hysteria. And mass hysteria is infectious.

Brings to mind this passage from P.J. O'Rourke, talking about the Live Aid hootenanny back in the '80s: Fiddling While Africa Starves:

A mob, even an eleemosynary mob, is an ugly thing to see. No good ever came of mass emotion. The audience that's easily moved to tears is as easily moved to sadistic dementia. People are not thinking under such circumstances.

In the middle of the Live Aid broadcast, my friend called me. "Turn on the television," he said, "This is horrible. They're in a frenzy."

"Well," I said, "at least it's a frenzy of charity."

"Oh, no," he said, "it could be anything. Next time it might be 'Kill the Jews.'"

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - A former Marine accused of killing unarmed Iraqi detainees was acquitted of voluntary manslaughter Thursday in a first-of-its-kind federal trial.

The jury took six hours to find Jose Luis Nazario Jr. not guilty of charges that he killed or caused others to kill four unarmed detainees on Nov. 9, 2004, in Fallujah, Iraq, during some of the fiercest fighting of the war.

Good.

From the Brown Palace Hotel:

Unfortunately there are various inaccuracies being reported about this issue. We have worked with hundreds of journalists with no issues. The ABC news cameras were intruding on the entrance of the hotel, creating an unsafe entrance/exit for our guests, which are our priority at all times. The police department asked them to move to the side several times so that our guests could enter/exit, and ABC refused. ABC was clearly told that they could stand on the sidewalk but it is illegal to block an entrance to any business, which is what they were doing. After not complying with the police requests, they were then asked to move to the other side of the street. It is our understanding that ABC was arrested for not complying with police orders. The arrest resulted from issues between the police and ABC, not The Brown Palace Hotel.

The AARP is lying. In the can with the Dems and their government controlled health care drum-beat. Sad.

The AARP these days is making some pretty nice bucks off of their medicaid & prescription drug insurance supplements. Self interest.

Am starting at the bottom because I want to comment on the $80.00 parking price. Are they insane? Why don't people ride the light rail which has a station at Mile High? The whole thing is wretched . . . wretched excess. Bah.

Whatever happened to low-key, elegant, sophisticated presentations? It makes my head ache and the great ONE has yet to appear. Just yuck.

Mr. Armstrong, great athlete that he is, seems to go for the liberal chicks. He dated that no talent Kate Hudson this summer.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks she's vastly overrated in her line of work.

they did no visit granny?

OO

Nope.

Obama — escorted by Secret Service and accompanied by a few campaign staff and a pool of reporters and camera crews — arrived at about 4:10 p.m. yesterday and spent an hour with his 85-year-old maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who helped raise him. He was not accompanied by his wife, Michelle, and two daughters.

From the Brown Palace Hotel:

ABC knows full well what is and is not allowed.

The Brown Palace Hotel also knows damned well they don't own the sidewalk so it seems odd they'd make that claim.

He doesn't know much history, does he?

I'm moving upstairs, but had to reply.

I went into this evening kind of laid back, looking forward to making fun of the Messiah, but I'm not laughing anymore.

First Richardson the sanest of the bunch, delivers his terrible speech.

Now Stevie Wonder is singing something like "Fear can't destroy Hope," or something like that.

Then I'll have to listen to the Goreacle, and then Dick "our troops are like Pol Pot" Durbin will interoduce the One.

Then the One will speak to a 75,000 strong rally in front of an ersatze Lincoln Memorial, followed by fireworks.

I've just managed to creep myself out. Don't know if alcohol will help tonight, but I intend to find out.

The Brown Palace is the top hotel in Denver and one of the top 2 or 3 in the entire state. I don't believe that they would have initiated a confrontation, but I could sure see why the Denver Police could have decided to treat this guy harshly.

Doesn't make it right, but if the release from the Brown Palace was correct, they may well have had a legitimate case.

More finger-in-the-wind politicking. they learned it well from master Billy Jeff. What happened to Udall's core convictions? In Colorado - the lefty dems have to move to the center to get elected (pander and lie), then they move back to the far left to govern and vote.

Udall's core convictions have not changed a bit. He never had any.
I was privileged to get the choice last election between Pete Coors and Ken Salazar. Voted for Coors, figured it wouldn't matter a bit between the two.

Tancredo is "retiring".

On the upside, though, Hank Brown term limited himself and, when called upon, went a long way toward stabilizing C.U.

re: #550 Sharmuta

McCain not only served this country- he was tortured for it.

And you assholes are trying to smear him that he supports torture. That's just stupid.

My Lady, I was very naive when I was young. I registered and was granted status as a conscientious objector during the Viet Nam War. But I never supported the contention that somehow the NVA were the equivalent of the Minutemen. I was mistaken in my desire that "love" should guide international relations, but I was never seditious.

As time went on, I put aside my internationalist utopianism. Especially after 9/11, I came to realize that I live in a sovereign nation; and, despite all its flaws, the free-est of all nations in history--at least of all those which must take a prominent place on the world stage. And I realized that it was my rational duty to aid in defending my nation against aggression, especially against that aggression that was based in an irrational enthusiasm (jihad).

More specifically, I gained a rational appreciation of what patriotism means: to love one's country (despite its flaws) as a country, to rise above factionalism and arbitrary self-regard. McCain is flawed, as are we all, but he is a patriot. Obama, as are all Democrats now that Scoop, Lieberman, and the like have left the camp, is a mere factional panderer, with no serious appreciation of patriotism at all.

I thank you for your comments, for they display a patriotism both intelligent and unapologetic.

Curious...bothe Hillary and Bill now say Obama is ready to be President. What happened in the past 6 weeks to change their mind...and Bill, can you give some specifics, please?

I believe it has to do with BO paying off Hil's campaign bills to the tune of 15 mil.
