Conventional Discussion Thread 11 - Zombie Updates Added

Thu, Aug 28, 2008 at 6:40:36 pm PDT

In our previous Democratic Convention segment, we learned that if you don’t vote for Barack Obama, you’re insane. Albert Einstein said so. Or he would have, if he were alive and in the presence of The One.

Here’s another thread as we taxi in for a landing on the steps of Obama’s faux Greek temple.

UPDATE at 8/28/08 6:53:31 pm:

Just received from Zombie:

UPDATE at 8/28/08 7:03:47 pm:

No single photo can convey the impossibly long extent of the line. According to police I spoke to, it was nearly two miles long at one point. It zigzagged crazily back and forth from one end of Invesco’s vast series of parking lots to the other — and then continued out onto the city streets. This is just 1% of the line; imagine this same scene extending to the horizon.

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
'Til you spend half your life just covering up

[chorus:]
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

I got in a little hometown jam
And so they put a rifle in my hands
Sent me off to Vietnam
To go and kill the yellow man

[chorus]

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me"
I go down to see the V.A. man
He said "Son don't you understand"

[chorus]

I had a buddy at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone
He had a little girl in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years down the road
Nowhere to run, ain't got nowhere to go

I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Richard Dreyfuss pretends for a living. No one should listen to what he thinks about anything else, but celebrity is odd that way.

Come, come! What about Mr, Holands Opus?

118 Tigger2005  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 6:52:21pm

re: #78 Ringo the Gringo

Listening to KTLK Progressive Talk Am on the way home today I heard Richard Dreyfuss say that Dick Cheney was responsible for antagonizing Russia into invading Georgia. And that he did it for no other reason than to help John McCain get elected President. He went on to say that Putin is a "mature adult" compared to Bush and Cheney and if Putin says that it's Cheney's fault that Russia invaded Georgia then he believed Putin. The host agreed too.

There is a bad craziness loose in the world.

Now I can never watch American Graffiti, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, or Mr. Holland's Opus Again, thank you very much.

248 rp1138  Thu, Aug 28, 2008 7:00:32pm

Forty-five years ago today, Martin Luther King Jr. gave one of the most moving and inspiring speeches in American history, one that cut to the core of what it means to be an American, namely that all of us are created equal, that we should be treated equally before the law, and that we should be judged not by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character. He gave this speech, after he and his followers marched all the way to the federal capitol, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, a monument to a man who not only ended the curse of slavery that held this nation in it’s grip since it’s inception, but also held this country together with his bare hands through the most trying time in it’s history. One great man speaking in front of the monument to another great man, who is rightfully considered to be the greatest President that this country has ever seen.

Now flash forward forty five years, and we have a narcissistic socialist thug with delusions of godhood, who apparently wants to be judged by the color of his skin, seeing as how the content of his character is so lacking, speaking down to us poor unwashed masses in front of what he says is supposed to be the Lincoln Memorial, but looks more like Caesar’s Palace minus the slot machines, How far have we fallen?

What a sham. A totally manufactured moment. I hope McCain wipes the floor with this poser. And I don’t even like McCain.
