Undercover Mosque: The Return

Mon, Sep 1, 2008 at 6:24:14 pm PDT

The British Channel 4 show Dispatches has done a followup to Undercover Mosque, with an undercover female reporter this time—and the revelations about what’s being preached in British mosques are no less shocking than the first go-round.

Islamism hasn't changed - shocking.

They must be crushed and destroyed - factual.

They went back to see if they were true to their word... Muslims don't have to be true to their word to infidels, so no.

8 Geepers  Mon, Sep 1, 2008 6:28:08pm

A follow up? I figured they'd all be in jail by now for, you know, spreading islamophobia telling the truth.

9 Silhouette  Mon, Sep 1, 2008 6:29:41pm

Just one "isolated incident" after another.

Bingo!

Islam codifies all the worst characteristics of human nature, and holds them up as virtue.

Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil.

Overall there were no mainstream Muslim scholars on the show, which is a relief. It seems that all the documentary makers managed to expose was a small group of people who I'm sure in good time Muslims will isolate. These type of extremists are far and few apart and I'm sure you will find them in Judaism, Hinduism and Christianity. Looking forward to Undercover Synagogues, even Undercover Churches.

The ICC is committed to inter-faith and cross-cultural understanding.

It does not support or condone extreme views, racial hatred, violence or intolerance.

Glaringly missing from this is a statement of condemnation for such views.

I visited the Regent's Park Mosque when I was in London this spring. It's a remarkable piece of real estate. Nestled next to villas that real money can't buy. I suspect the surrounding properties are mostly owned by the royal family.

43 Silhouette  Mon, Sep 1, 2008 6:58:57pm

I see a recurring theme in the denials. They keep qualifying that they didn't mean these things to happen here, but only in a fully Muslim state, with a Muslim leader.

Then you think it is okay? And secondly, do you wish to make an Islamic state here?

54 infidel Alan  Mon, Sep 1, 2008 7:04:02pm

This afternoon I went to a Labor Day party at the home of a senior University of California faculty member. It was a very nice affair and the food was home-cooked. But I knew there would be political bad behavior and I was surprised that nobody was ranting about the election or the candidates. I overheard some calm chitchat about Obama but was going to give them credit for adult behavior. Then, on my way out, I got buttonholed by a 92-year-old molecular biologist who still does research. Everything was fine until he started in about how he hoped some levees would break and there would be flooding through Thursday and how I could guess his true colors from that. It never fails--at a gathering of "progressives" there is always somebody that just can't resist showing how politically hip and clever they are by going way over the line. Because of his age I didn't call him on it; I just ignored his remarks, made my goodbyes and left, my prediction fulfilled and my contempt for "progressives" intact.

Here's the problem: Chanel 4 is blaming the Saudis but what about the British Muslims who pack these mosques? Religion is a consumer driven industry. UK muslisms are to blame for showing up at these mosques, if they were so far out of the mainstream then why are people still attending services? How many people attend Fred Phelp's sermons? There's still a huge problem in the UK.

re: #101 Killgore Trout

Here's the problem: Chanel 4 is blaming the Saudis but what about the British Muslims who pack these mosques? Religion is a consumer driven industry. UK Muslims are to blame for showing up at these mosques, if they were so far out of the mainstream then why are people still attending services? How many people attend Fred Phelp's sermons? There's still a huge problem in the UK.

Nothing a good Caterpillar bulldozer couldn't fix....IMO, if Mosque leaders teach hatred and intolerance, its time to flatten that Mosque, salt the earth and deport the people who attended it to wherever they or their parents immigrated from.

These videos are done by sending people comfortable enough with Islamic customs into Mosques and such to see what is being taught and discussed. There's nothing clever enough for me to say that could possibly do this quote justice.

So the political troubles also continue in Japan. Fukuda is resigning having been in office for less than a year and having taken over from Abe who had a kind of a break-down just one year into his tenure. Gone are the days of Koizumi when Japan played its rightful part of the world stage and had dynamic activity within country. Next may be a guy named Aso who is a bit of a maverick and a bit of a hawk, the kind who might send a "self-defence" force to somemeaningless rock to flip off the Koreans and just to show he can.

Little boy, deformed leg. Quite a bit of convincing to do a BKA, and go with a prosthetic leg.

They would have none of it. In that society, if you are missing a limb, or are deformed, it is viewed as a curse from allah.

It dawned on my, they hopped on a plane and traveled half way around the world for something that would be pretty common in any westernized country with a children's medical facility.

Even more, the way this boy treated his mother was atrocious.

Hope that when McCain gets in he will issue an executive finding that the NYT is not to be considered a reliable or accurate source of information due to a list of scandals to be noted Blair etc. and therefor while he would not presume to bar them from the press room they should be afforded the same level of courtesy and assistance by the White House Press Office as is given to all other media and no more, That means they get what the Trolleytown Gazette gets. After paying for grilling courses, (not cooking) the most common mistake people make when grilling is not letting the grill get hot enough.

Second, is only turning the meat once.

Third, if you really want some excellent grilled meat, brine what you plan to put on the grill.

One cup of kosher salt to a gallon of water for every 4 pounds of meat.

It hydrates the cells of the meat.

Most tender grill you will ever have.

Doesn't sound good ...

moby - An insidious and specialized type of left-wing troll who visits blogs and impersonates a conservative for the purpose of either spreading false rumors intended to sow dissension among conservative voters, or who purposely posts inflammatory and offensive comments for the purpose of discrediting the blog in question. The term is derived from the name of the liberal musician Moby, who famously suggested in February of 2004 that left-wing activists engage in this type of subterfuge: “For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you’re an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion. Then you go to an anti-immigration Web site chat room and ask, ‘What’s all this about George Bush proposing amnesty for illegal aliens?’” The strategy has been frequently attempted on LGF and elsewhere, but has not been nearly as effective as Moby envisioned, since false rumors are easily debunked by fact-checking minions, and cartoonishly extreme commenters often get immediately identified as mobys and banned from LGF.

re: #239 pingjockey

You can do it if you have a strong stomach. It is akin to the rendering plant I went to the other day!

I know. My Dad zt'l was a butcher, and he took me to one when I was a kid, and also to Fanuel Hall, in Boston, before Thanksgiving, when he went to pick out the live turkeys he wanted...he had me on his shoulders. Sawdust all over the floor, and very noisy! That used to be the market in Boston, many decades ago. And I am a retired RN, who saw enough gore...you can fill in the dots.

But if there is any kind of bug flying or crawling around indoors? NY Grampa has to kill it! I cringe.

And my daughter is worse than I am..she called us at about 1-1:30 AM to come from near the CT/NY border to Queens, to kill some water bugs that are part of NYC life! We did...she now has our son in law to do it!

She took me into her bedroom, closed the door, and NY Grampa slayed them mightily! ;)

I had a grill ignition FAIL tonight. Using some year old Match Light, I tried to get it going, didn't have any lighter fluid. It wouldn't light. Finally gave up, cooked the steaks on the stove top. Had a nice dinner just the same.

Looked at back at the grill just a few minutes ago, now it is blazing away.

I could be wrong, meaning this is not researched, but I believe a sled is any platform used to carry objects in transport by being pulled that does not have wheels. A sleigh is a subset of sleds that has rails for skating over the ice and primarily is desingened to seat people. That sounds good enough that I don't want to ruin it my looking it up.

I don't remember this story.

A 4000-pound hippopotamus, Bubbles won national attention in late February 1978 when she escaped from a wild animal park (the now-defunct Lion Country Safari) in Irvine, California.

Finding refuge in a rain-filled pond, she eluded capture for 19 days.

Bubbles was finally taken down with tranquilizer darts. Tragically, she collapsed in an unnatural position, and died from suffocation.

An autopsy revealed she was five months pregnant.

Honey you have no idea! We stopped at the local Quickie Mart so that I could buy some milk and just before I could open the door I saw this bonehead light a cig just as he was finished filling up his car with gas. As he sauntered over to pay I looked at him and said "Put that cigarette out or do you want to blow the place up, ya bloody idiot!" Lots of people at that time of day and not ONE called him out and I could just see the whole place go up in an explosion.

His response?

No concern that he could have put anyone in mortal danger and he was very insulted that I called him an idiot.

So he says to me, "I can guarantee you that I have a much easier and richer life than you."

And I said, "So what does that have to do with you being an idiot?"

Chips, the WW II Hero A shepherd-sled dog mix trained at the “K-9” Center Front Royal, Virginia in 1942, he was one of the first dogs to be shipped overseas. He served in General Patton's brutal Africa campaign, then waded ashore with Patton's 3rd Division 7th Army into Sicily.

In the invasion of Sicily July 1943, he and his handler were attacked by a concealed machine gun. He streaked for gun pillbox, capturing 4 Italian soldiers saving his handler.

He suffered a bullet wound, burns and a scalp wound in his attack. The same night he helped capture another 10 Italian soldiers and U.S. newspapers called him a hero.

I also like the unit the Brits use--a stone = 16 pounds

When the news there used to refer to a suspect as being "15 stone," I'd have to get out pen and paper and do some cipherin'.

I had a chem prof insisted on giving us odd units to convert into standard, or standard and demand odd units in the answer.

He like units of furlongs per fortnight.

I've been thinking...

Something that's buggin' me about the national press' coverage of Sarah's so-called Troopergate...

One trick I use to ferret out biased coverage of an event is to reverse it... see if the event in question still is a scandal if the prime sin is reversed, while leaving all of the other details the same.

What would happen to Sarah if the following occurred:

:: A curious reporter discovered that a trooper was the brother-in-law of the governor.

:: He was written up for a dozen incidents, including drinking in his squad car, tazering his step-son, and threatening to shoot his father-in-law.

:: He only got 5 days suspension for all of those offenses.

:: The governor did nothing about it.

I think that would be a huge scandal, a far worse scandal, the kind of scandal that brings down administrations. She did the opposite, and is in getting grief for it. To me, that means it is a scandal built on spin and bias... the same evidence is used to prove a scandal no matter which option she takes.

So far today I've learned two good things:
a) The citizens of Wasilla knew already, and seemed to be a bit miffed that the MSM is digging around. It's not that big of a problem with the locals, and they (truly) don't understand why it's a problem with the press.
b) Sarah Palin is a member of some group called "Women's Right to Life" or something that sounds eerily religiously conservative. Some poster (who also belongs to the group) posted a link on another thread earlier, and I checked it out. It is what the liberal women's groups only wish they could be. They actually believe in contraception, all kinds of whacko ideas.

and one bad thing:
"some people" seem to think the Palins (Sarah and Todd) needed to exercise more control over Bristol. That annoys me, because I've been there, done that, etc.

And with respect to "Fuck", etc:
Oddly enough, poll numbers went UP a point. Maybe that's in the noise and not due to the recent news.

I am referring to the Black Bloc. You know them? They are a whole bunch of trouble. They damn near beat a cop to death here in SF, a couple years back.
They wear masks and carry weapons.

Yes, I'm aware of them, and I've encountered them here in DC. They're scum. That's no reason to call on police to simply gun down anyone at a protest who wears a mask. WTF?

re: #559 rawmuse

Anyone wearing a mask over their face in a protest or demonstration should be terminated with extreme prejudice, IMHO. I have been in plenty of protests, never have I covered my face.

No, by that I mean No.
The old KKK laws on banning masks and face covers need to be revived and made national. Burquas be damned. Make it so a Judge can issue a permit for an exemption for specific medical, not psychiatric or emotional, conditions. Other permits for theatrical events and recognized social events (Halloween or a charity masqued ball) otherwise no masks.

Sun Makes History: First Spotless Month in a Century

Drop in solar activity has potential effect for climate on earth.

In the past 1000 years, three previous such events -- the Dalton, Maunder, and Spörer Minimums, have all led to rapid cooling. One was large enough to be called a "mini ice age". For a society dependent on agriculture, cold is more damaging than heat. The growing season shortens, yields drop, and the occurrence of crop-destroying frosts increases.

More Global Warming™ please!

I hate the cold.

MPAUK blogged the transmission. Summary:

Overall there were no mainstream Muslim scholars on the show, which is a relief. It seems that all the documentary makers managed to expose was a small group of people who I'm sure in good time Muslims will isolate. These type of extremists are far and few apart and I'm sure you will find them in Judaism, Hinduism and Christianity. Looking forward to Undercover Synagogues, even Undercover Churches.

Okay - firstly, Muslim don't isolate these freaks. Muslims, whilst generally uncomfortable with the terrorists and Islamofascists, still regard them as brothers and regard us kuffar as the enemy.

Secondly, saying that extremists exist in Hinduism, Judaism & Christianity is pure obfuscation. Why have there been no exposes of Islamic-style extremism, sociopathy, preaching of violence and advocating barbaric punishments being taught in Britain's Hindu temples, synagogues and churches? Because there's nothing toi report. If those religions had the same obvious problems as Islam, then MPACUK, C4 and the Guardian would have been over them like a hot rash. You can't report trends or incidents that don't exist.

Thirdly, the Indian government, Israeli government & Vatican aren't filling temples, churches & synagogues with literature that teaches people who hate the UK and people of other religions.

Fourthly, if extremist Jewish, Hindu or Christian groups were to exist, they'd be found in the living rooms of private houses. They'd be underground groups. The extremism covered in the program was discovered in the Regents Park Mosque - the largest, most important, mosque in the country. It's the equivalent of Combat 18 distributing literature and holding classes in Canterbury Cathedral!

Lastly, neither Jews, Hindus nor Christians have ever planted bombs on the London underground.

Deal with your fucking problems and stop blaming others.

Having been on both sides of the political divide (former liberal), I feel comfortable saying this is a real difference between the two camps. Back when I was a liberal, I don't recall conservative friends or acquaintances getting hysterical or nasty when talking politics. At worst, a little snarky, but the rule was civilized discourse. re: #651 Occasional Reader
Hey O.R. - it's not you and it's not even left vs right these days.
I swear, I've seen both lefties (I'm afraid there are no true "liberals" left - last ones I remember with any fondness was Moynihan and Adali Stevenson, both of whom were possessed of extremely high degrees of intelligence and wit) and I'm afraid very "right wingers" or conservatives (last one, also possessed of extremely high degree of intelligence and wit was William F. Buckley, Jr. RIP - although there are some trying to follow in his footsteps) just totally lose it when you try to have an honest politcal discussion with them. And I don't understand why, although I suspect it really got viscious on a regular, daily basis when Bush beat Gore in 2000.
BTW, someone suggested this tactic to me and I've been able to use it some: when someone tells you abortion is THE issue or Woman's Rights is the issue or......fill in almost any issue of your choice, just remind them that if we don't WIN the GWoT, those issues won't ever be issues again, because FREEDOM will be gone.

If that was my grandmother, they'd be begging for life sentences.

This is what the courts decided in April about the driver, not the actual rock-thrower

However, Carter was improperly sentenced under a set of sentencing amendments that were adopted after his crime was committed without waiving his rights to be sentenced under the earlier provisions, Hayes wrote.

He may get his 40 years reduced.

There were four guys on that bridge. Two convicted, one took a plea, and the fourth was never charged.

The last three updates.....
UPDATE at 8/30/08 3:20:31 pm:

One last comment on this: the point still stands that it’s more than a little slimy to be a supporter of the “progressive” campaign of Barack Obama, then turn around and use Sarah Palin’s pro-gay rights positions against her in a creepy anonymous web site (that suddenly turns up highly placed on Google).

But this is one area in which Palin could actually appeal to many disgruntled Hilary supporters—so anything goes in the wonderful, tolerant world of the left.

UPDATE at 8/30/08 7:14:27 pm:

The ‘sarahpalingayrights.com’ site is now being redirected to Wikipedia.

UPDATE at 8/30/08 8:51:01 pm:

In the South, "slew" can also mean "a whole bunch of".

As in, "Man, me and Bubba caught us a slew of fish* today!"

*pronounced fee-yash

Funny, I use "slew" in that sense myself, from time to time, and I was born and raised on Canada's west coast.

Here on the Prairies, we also use "slough" to mean a small lake. It's also used in British Columbia and Washington, but in a more restricted sense, normally referring to a cut-off section of river channel, comparable to a bayou in the South.

"You love those that love Allah.

Compare and contrast with Love one another, love thine enemy, do unto others as you would have done to yourselves, etc."

Which is real good news for the muslims of the world. If the Christians and Jews adopted the muslim attitude about killing enemy religions, the muslims of the world would be wiped off the face of the Earth in a matter of hours. Christians and Jews of the world have massive stockpiles of thermo-nuclear weapons and the delivery systems to cause genocide on an evolutionary scale if they were barbaric enough to do so.

It's Judeo Christian kindness and humanity that's keeping the followers of islam from being nuked into non existence. But I wouldn't push it.

BTW...

If you want to know about the "secessionist" party Sarah Palin flirted with back in the nineties, here is their platform.

What they really want is for the feds to cede control of their land back to the Alaskan people... and I agree with them. It is wrong for the feds to control 60% of all the land in Alaska... that's far too much. The vote the party wants is a cudgel to get the attention of Washington, nothing more. Many in Alaska vote for that party at one time or another, and most go back to the mainstream parties when they realize the way to change things is from the inside.

A'course, it didn't cross anybody's mind (even my own, before right now) that the reason we have a larger budget is because tax rates have gone down, and the economy grew in response, resulting in a bigger tax revenue raw-dollar wise.

re: #755 victor_yugo

Good point there. But there are different definitions and meanings of ready. When I was married I got sick of being asked "so, when are you starting a family?" I politely told people when I could afford it. This always brought up the the response, oh if that's your attitude you will never afford it. I had to be nice and tell the person asking that I was working 60 hours a week and making way below the poverty line, and my definition of affording a child was not having to worry about MY weekly food bill. Some people stil didn't get it and I stopped reasoning with them.

My inclination is : after about 500 comments, it is no longer worth worrying about whether your comment is "On Topic" or not. In our video-oriented culture, most people have developed the attention span of a ten-week-old kitten. Actually, now I think about it, those folks are probably the sober, studious ones !

Still working, not hard mind you. Taking the opportunity tonight to update my pictures on my online account. Mapping and tagging them. Apparently a lot of people were checking out the "screen shits" I took of the Daily Kos on Sunday morning. (300+ hits that day).

Since I have seen all the screaming and yelling on the same old tired points in the MSM with regards to Mrs. Palin, I am going to put most of it on scroll by. Glad to hear that Gustav is mostly a dud.

792 DesertSage  Tue, Sep 2, 2008 12:42:51am

I'm so pissed!

Sarah Palin, by all accounts is one of the best politicians in our entire country. She's a reformer, she's uncorrectable and she's honest.
She's young and energetic, and she's a class act.

The MSM and the Lefties just can't stand that she's a good person. They've been tearing her down nonstop since McCain announced her as his running mate.

I am totally disgusted by the treatment she's gotten over the last few days!
The vile things that the leftards have said about her are so low I didn't believe that they would even go there. They never cease to amaze me how despicable they are. The woman hasn't even had a chance to speak to the American people yet. They haven't even had a chance to get to know her.
I cant believe that things have so dirty in this country. The media is more corrupt then I ever imagined. The Left and the media have all but destroyed this woman's family for absolutely no reason whatsoever, other than she's a threat to their Obamesiah! It's despicable and disgusting!

Sorry for the rant. I'm just really pissed!

Think about this. All the things the right wing conservative BLOGS have done is attack BO and his associations. No one has attacked his family seriously or made stuff up about him and hammered on it.

Now that all the "skeletons" are out of the closet, I can still see the right only attack BO on his positions and past associations with known terrorists, and lack of experience.

Pertinent American Anniversary: Sept 1st, 1864: General John Bell Hood takes his shrinking Confederate army out of Atlanta, and the next day General WT Sherman takes Atlanta.

Beginning of the end... 'State's Rights' had begun the War, and State's Rights had ruined the Confederacy's ability to form a UNION. Disunity was disastrous for the South.

re: #716 neocon hippie

What is up with the Palin children's names? Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig? The hippie name "Willow" is the most normal one in the bunch. I am a Palin fan but I can't wrap my mind around these odd names.

Track: Both parents are athletic; their first son was born during track season.

Bristol: Taken from the place name Bristol Bay, which is where the Palins fish commercially.

Piper: The Piper Supercub is basically a Piper Cub on steroids (big engine); the Palins own and fly one.

Willow: A nice little town up the road a bit from Wasilla.

Trig: Norwegian name meaning "strength", from "Trigve", imo probably the old-country original word. (Alaska has many people of Scandinavian ancestry, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish, even a few Icelandics ;-).)

Like you I was interested in the kids' names. That's the best I've put together so far.

Many, many years ago, in college, I happened to be in one of those huge lecture halls with about a thousand other students. It was a freshman intro course in Biology, iirc. The lecturer was droning away, and then a new student(?) walked in and asked in a Very Loud Voice, “Are European Tits really Great?” and walked out.

I'm not sure the lecturer ever recovered . . .
