Lines of Communication or Lines of Power?

Speaking of either, what has Michelle Obama been doing recently?

She may really, really, really need to get involved in speechifying for the campaign again.

How does she feel about another woman publicly knocking her husband, then having him turn to yet another woman for aid and support?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Like a bird on the wire,
Like drunks in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be MSNBC.
Like a worm on a hook,
Like a knave, some old fashioned crook
I saved all my lies for thee.
If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that Sarah can just let it go by.
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know I hoped the lies were true.--

Democrats are going to try and make hay of the fact that Palin is popular.

3. Lidice, Czecholsovakia... Community Organizing at its best.

Demolishing liberal arguments is like talking to a 5 year old when he always asks why this is the way it is or why that is that. It's not that hard. History is my guide and as a student of history, they have a hard time fighting against it. Not only that, I ask them for their emails so I can send them the proof that they deny so much. Some do it, most don't.

McCain has done a good job of maneuvering. He is in an exceedingly difficult position. To win the independents, he must separate himself from an unpopular Republican president. (And neither indeps nor the base liked the porky Republican Congress.) Yet he must whip up enthusiasm within the Republican party and gather support for the Republican ticket among the fuzzy middlers. And he has to do that without having special "charisma" or rhetorical talent or the MSM behind him.

So far he has done a helluva job.

162 lawhawk  Fri, Sep 5, 2008 11:59:35am

re: #131 funky chicken

McCain could handle this pretty much any way they want it and come out ahead.

They are getting press on it, just without doing or responding.

Oprah could finally let Palin on, and Palin defangs everything the Oprah/Obamists think about her.

It doesn't make sense for the campaign to attack the Oprah decision directly, because that looks petty and undermines the political gain you're looking to achieve from tapping into those potential voters in her audience.

Oprah will either choose to let her on the show before the election because her people will convince her that she's hurting her finely crafted image or she wont (and hurts her image). Palin will likely graciously accept either way, and give a good performance.

It's a win win for the McCain campaign. I just don't see a downside here from what's happened vis a vis Oprah.

175 wright1  Fri, Sep 5, 2008 12:09:30pm

When I read the below report that last night's interruption was conspired by operative(s) at MSNBC, I came to the conclsion that NBC may be guilty of contributing to criminal violations that should put their license in jeopardy. Enough is enough. This network is now vilating FCC by actively campaigning for a political party. Is anyone listening? It is time to fight.

Did the Code Pink members who interrupted John McCain's speech last night use MSNBC press badges to get into the hall? Not according to Code Pink itself, which claims the two women "obtained passes to the convention from disaffected Republicans."

Right.

There is another much more intriguing explanation out there. According to Shay at Booker Rising, which describes itself a newsite for black moderates and black conservatives [emphasis added]:

I took the shuttle bus back to Minneapolis, and I overheard a convention organizer named Phil telling a convention delegate that the protesters on Wednesday night got through because of media credentials that were traced back to MSNBC (he told her that each credential has an individual bar code for each convention invitee). They suspect MSNBC this time as well.

re: #1 rawmuse

It is 1 line short of a musical stave.

It's actually bass guitar tablature. That's the opening riff of YES's 'And You and I', dude. Or is it from 'Gates of Delirium'?

re: #144 zombie

Carlheinz Stockhuasen did something similar, did he not, with music [sic] based on certain sequences outside of the typical Western scale of tones?

GOODBYE FREAKAZOID

A lawyer for Mr. Rangel, Lanny Davis, said on Thursday that the congressman would most likely file amendments to his tax returns for the years in question.

Lanny Davis.

re: #146 Sparkizzy

There are two big indications that Rangel is a dimocrat...(1) his lawyer is Lanny Davis, and (2) his party affiliation shows up in paragraph #15. If he had been a Republican, that would have been mentioned in the first one!

Dunno

really.....hmm.....

While I like Sarah, after knowing her all of 6 days, I'm not sold. I don't want another Harriet Meiers debacle.

Wires? Don't talk to me about wires. The power just came back on here after being off since 11PM Tuesday courtesy of Gustav.

Seriously: Last year we saw two bird corpses hanging upside down beside one another on a power line on our way to town.
My theory: one hella power surge.

Disgraced and admitted felon-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit has more executive experience than B. Hussein Obama.

Those birds need a “Community Organizer.”

Iowahawk explains “Community Organizing.”

[Getting started]

...I have also been a proud member of Campaign For a Better Humanity, a non-profit community outreach program I created with a joint grant from Johnson County Community Services and the Iowa State Work Release Program.

What do community organizers do?

For example I also make frequent visits to Whispering Acres, the senior assisted living center across from Hy-Vee. Like many elderly people across America, the residents there often struggle with forgetfulness and confusion. As a community organizer, I listen to their concerns and boring, meandering stories about the Depression. Then, when they eventually fall asleep, I help by checking their mail and storage areas and medicine cabinets to see what needs organizing. If they suddenly wake back up, I enjoy helping them fill out various legal and financial forms, and voter registrations
