But according to a senior official involved in organizing the Democratic convention, the McCain camp is simply lying about the flags.
"All of the flags at Invesco were picked up and put in bags and into storage, along with the unused flags and campaign signs. The flags were going to be donated, and the signs were going to be sent out to be used elsewhere," the official said, speaking anonymously since he was not authorized to talk to the press.
Fox News' Carl Cameron and Bonney Kapp reported that they had "been told" that "a vendor at Invesco Field found the flags, which were going to be thrown out, and turned them over to the McCain campaign."
Curious that no one is going on the record with that, instead opting for the anonymous quote. Nice.
Still, more important issues to deal with - like how to get further inside Obama's OODA loop. While his minions are trying to come up with the latest Palin smear, McCain needs to pop on energy or the economy.
I'll chime in on Sarah as a creationist - there is a BIG difference between one's closely held beliefs and the desire as a public official to indoctrinate. I put her more in the first category based upon info available...

I've got some real valuable stuff out at the curb by my trash can. Hope nobody steals it.
I had (2) Vodka's and OJ and 2 Corona's...and I'm not done yet!
Vodka AND OJ? Just chill the vodka in the freezer, add a Cayenne pepper and let it sit for a while and then knock back with some chilled caviar and creme freche. Nothing will matter after a few of those......
Since it's a link thread here's a good one. OODA is Fighter Pilot speak for:
That sounds like McCain's thinking alright. One way to win a dogfight is to goad your adversary into making a mistake and Palin's nomination has done just that.

He is a gambler that is for sure - he staked his candidacy on the surge and now Palin - but of course, wisdom comes to those who's mettle has been tested.
And Bill Ayers writes in his memoir, Fugitive Days, of Hayden’s altered persona when addressing closed audiences of radicals:
His voice took on an edge, somewhere between fanatical and giddy, as he described bold plans and playful pranks. But you folks—veterans of the movement and the streets—have a pivotal role to play in all of this, he continued, the color of his face deepening, his eyes once again blazing. He looked intently from person to person. He was the same articulate and thoughtful speaker as before, but these were words for only a few. This demonstration has the potential like nothing we’ve done before to expose the face of the enemy, to strip him naked, to force him to reveal himself as violent, brutal, totalitarian, and evil. It will be difficult—and dangerous—taunting the monster, stabbing him in his most exposed and vulnerable places, but it’s got to be done. And he paused. And you’re the ones to do it.
That sounds like McCain's thinking alright. One way to win a dogfight is to goad your adversary into making a mistake and Palin's nomination has done just that.
"Never overextend your thrust. Once your head leaves your neck, it's over."
After the media awarded Obama his coronation on the night of his speech, one would think this was over...I recall however a man with slumped over shoulders carrying his own suitcases in an airport. Not too far later he was the Republican nominee. He is not one to be underestimated.
A few weeks ago, the White House took the unusual step of issuing a specific denial of a report on Army Radio, picked up by the Post, which claimed that a Bush official recently told his Israeli counterparts that the president is planning to strike Iran's nuclear facilities before leaving office. Only this week, a newspaper in The Netherlands claimed that Dutch intelligence has abruptly halted an "extremely successful" ongoing operation to sabotage Iran's nuclear program because of an assessment that such an American strike is indeed just weeks away.
If only. But I could see Bush ordering a take out of Iran's military capabilites to enable Israel to get at Iran's nuclear program, or take it out ourselves if Obama is elected, almost anytime between the election and the end of this year. No more than 3 weeks tops to neuter Iran militarily.

It the RNC took the flags as the DNC stated, then they should file a police report and let the LEOs handle it. That would however boomerang big time if the facts are not EXACTLY as the DNC claims. Far easier (and safer) for them to handle it with innuendo and anonymous quotes.
All these people seem to think that if McCain drops dead, Palin would have to figure it all out by herself.
/all she has to do is be able to read, ask questions, listen to discussions, and make intelligent decisions from an array of offered options, I trust her to do that way more than Obama
The woman is a natural. Watch her performance last night here -- and you'll see why the left is in such a panic.
I was at a family party today and was subjected to some truly irrational anti-Palin nonsense about how all she did was read a well written speech. Ha. I pointed out to the person who said that for the last 8 years all we heard is that George W Bush is such a terrible speaker and now the GOP has a great speaker and all you can say is that it was a well written speech. The irrationality runs strong in this bunch.
Then I asked at what point in the Bush administration would you have done something different and where would that leave us right now. If war with Iraq was such a bad idea then what you you be doing right now seeing as Saddam would still be in power buying off UN officials and sending money to families of suicide bombers. No response.
And thats the point. The moonbats want to compare the Bush record against a Utopian vision, but not against an alternative reality had they been in charge. When you point that out to them, they got nuthin.
Garry Miller, president of the Campus Ministry Association, described the Serenity Room as a place where all students can come for quiet reflection and prayer, a space where they can "chill and have a moment."
"It's simple, it's quiet, it's away from all the busyness," Miller said. "It's just a come-as-you-are, no-reservations-necessary place."
Jennifer Hernandez, operations manager for the student center, expects that members of many of the university's religious-based student groups, from Christian to Baha'i, will make use of the room once they find out about it.
Why do I think that this probably won't happen? And if it does, the Muslim students will put a stop to it in short order? Oh yeah, because they have been known to take over regular, religiously neutral "prayer rooms" and throw people out; why would they let infidels come into crescent moon-shaped prayer rooms made specifically for Muslims?
LOL...I'm watching "Air Force One", but forgot about this part.
The VP is Glenn Close and she plays the part tough.
Me too the POTUS in the movie is a MOH recipient, Helicopter Pilot and pretty much starts with this quote.
Never again will I allow our political self-interest to deter us from doing what we know to be morally right. Atrocity and terror are not political weapons. And to those who would use them, your day is over. We will never negotiate. We will no longer tolerate and we will no longer be afraid. It's your turn to be afraid.
The family politics stuff sucks. My father in law told me he actually respected Fidel Castro. I must have given him a look because he tried to back peddle.
If only. But I could see Bush ordering a take out of Iran's military capabilites to enable Israel to get at Iran's nuclear program, or take it out ourselves if Obama is elected, almost anytime between the election and the end of this year. No more than 3 weeks tops to neuter Iran militarily.
Excellent post RW. I could see Bush going out with a bang.
Sorry I've missed you today my friend. Sounds like you received rain, but all is well I hope. I'll be watching the gulf closely next week for Ike.
My father recently traveled to Egypt and he said that the Egyptians are pissed off at our war on terror. We have interrupted their hashish routes and now they have to get crappy hash from Morocco instead of Afghanistan. One Egyptian man told my dad "The hash is so bad, my mother won't even smoke it." Good Muslims - they won't drink alcohol, but they sure will smash some hash in a hookah and go to town!
As a lot of you know, I was born with a Congenital Heart Defect and they didn't give me much of a chance.... but I'm still here!
Truth be told, I noticed that heart was broken when I took it out of the box, and I really should have mailed it back while it was still under warranty. But dad-gummit, I lost the receipt!
Every day, I get out of bed and say "Today, I am going to feel like Superman!" And I usually do... sometimes I feel like getting out the big Red Cape and fighting crime, and other days I feel like FedEx just delivered a box full of Kryptonite! But remember, any day that no one ties a tag to your toe is a GOOD day!
I've spent most of today having fun, and now it is time for me to turn back into The Lizard Who Takes Care of his Heart and haul my tired butt to bed. It's been a GREAT day here, and I hope you can say the same!
Because it won't happen. As soon as any other Religious group tries to share that room with Muslims, it will be a hate crime.
What we need is a group that will stand up to such tactics. One that will react to attempts to throw them out with equal force. Alas, that is unlikely. Anyone resisting them in such a way would be attacked by the media and would suffer for it. I would not have had the will to do that when I was in college. I'd just avoid the situation. I know that's pathetic, but I know what I would have done.
The family politics stuff sucks. My father in law told me he actually respected Fidel Castro. I must have given him a look because he tried to back peddle.
Your family gatherings must be a trial. I recall you mentioning his comments before. Is he deliberately trying to goad you?

I would say the chances are better that Israel will get the "green light" to Go before January if BO wins the election so they can get it done before the anointed one takes office.
If McCain wins (and I think he has got it) then I think the Israelis will hold and let him handle it. Either way, I believe Natanz will be toast within the next six months.

why indeed Killian (I dinged up upward, by the way)
that's why HER executive experience is important
and Obama's lack of it so glaring to downright troubling

oh shit !
I remember Afghan black hash from the 70's
sometimes it came shaped as coffee beans
sometimes just as a black hunk
but the coffee beans were unique
I remember way back in the day when I was in College, I got in many arguments with the smelly losers in the Worker's Party who were handing out pamphlets. My favorite tactic was to ask for a pamphlet and then rip it up in front of them.
re: #36 Killian Bundy
Hey Killian - not to mention that Palin has actual experience in, ya know, governing.
She's had to create two state budgets, figuring out what was needed and what was not and then figuring out how to pay for it all.
Not to mention that she had to do the same thing several times as a mayor.
I doubt if Obama even figures out his own Senate Office budget.
We've got months to act IMHO before Iran demonstrates something.
And that as they say is a whole new kettle of fish.
Regardless of Nov. I think GWB acts. Take care of business before BHO takes office, or takes some of the heat of JSM.
Bush knows the Dems are coming after him after he leaves office...what's one more charge.
I don't think Bush wants to put Israel in this position and would rather the US take the heat. History will look favorably at the Bush administration.
My mother and my moonbat sister have not been on speaking terms for a couple of months. It ain't pretty.
On the other hand, Mama can be very amusing when she gets riled up.
Starts speaking Spanglish: "Mira, my leetle hijita! What you know, eh? I know the comunista when I see eet right een the nose!"
At the store today. Check out 3 mags, US, People, Enquirer, Sarah Palin lies sex whatever bullshit they could dish stories. Some rag called OK, never heard of it, but had pic of Obama and the wife and kids in some pretty pose and headline "life with my kids". I'm not kidding now what the fuck is going on here?

hey, our generation, or should I say my generation, not knowing your age - invented the casual use of recreational drugs, and the use of sex as an ice-breaker
now, I worry about my kids getting uncurable diseases like Aids and Herpes

That's my read, we can handle the heat better than Israel. We're as much a target as they are.
re: #38 mich-again
Hi ya Mich! Please also see my #71 above. And how is it that the Left Party and it's supporters ALWAYS forget that the Coalition (not just the U.S.) went into Iraq after a meeting of the Security Council of the UN, to enforce all of the sanctions their precious damn U.N. imposed on Iraq?
I remember way back in the day when I was in College, I got in many arguments with the smelly losers in the Worker's Party who were handing out pamphlets. My favorite tactic was to ask for a pamphlet and then rip it up in front of them.
I had my share of arguments with them too. Lefty losers are easy enough to get to look foolish (because they are already fools). The Islamists are a different kettle of fish. They're not impressed by anything of ours save main force. The key to confronting them is possess both the force to stop them and the will to use it.
My parents split up when I was very young. I never heard either of them say anything derogatory or mean about the other until years after I was an adult and out on my own. I am grateful for that. They explained their separation to me exactly as you just did.
As a lot of you know, I was born with a Congenital Heart Defect and they didn't give me much of a chance.... but I'm still here!

How can it be a secret war when they spend 30 years screaming "Death to America" to massive public crowds, training and paying terrorists to kill Americans, invaded our embassy, and boast that they can and will build atomic bombs and wipe out an American ally?
It takes two to make a marriage but it only takes one to make a war.
Regardless of Nov. I think GWB acts. Take care of business before BHO takes office, or takes some of the heat of JSM.
Well you could be right about that; at least McCain could say he had inherited the War in Iran and didn't start it, but was damned sure gonna see it through.
If Israel is going to do it, it will be done before Inauguration Day regardless of who wins the election. Why saddle a friend (McCain) with the onus of having to defend the action, even though it should not require explanation. It's easier if everyone can just blame Bush. It's enough that the next president will have to deal with the aftermath.
If the US does it, it won't be because Bush wants to spare Israel. I don't believe political leaders think that way. If the US does it, it will be because we can do it more thoroughly, comprehensively, and terminally than Israel can alone.
Increasingly though, regardless of who gets lead billing, I think this will be a joint operation.
The problem is that the left understands neither marriage nor war. Thus they push solutions that ruin our countries ability to do either right.
Thats cool. They cared enough about you to not subject you to that kind of garbage. Unfortunately, there are a lot of couples who don't abide by that rule.
We are both young and don't have any kids so it will be easy. Uncontested. I don't want to take anything from him and I truly want him to be happy with whatever he does with his life.
Because they must have angst.
They have not been taught that you will have adversity in life, and it is how you deal with that adversity that makes you who you are.
Their life view is that adversity must be met and dealt with by someone else.
Another thing I have noticed, especially with the koskids is that they want what others have without making any effort to attain it.
They rail against the "rich", of which according to Obama I am one, and do not see all the hard word, long hours and sacrifice that it took to get here.
They see the house I have now, not the 3 bedroom single wide trailer I lived in and raised 3 kids in for 8 years, while starting our own business.
They see the nice car or jewelry, not the 15 hour days my husband works in order to make our business a success.
They see the successfull business, not the incredible chance we took at age 40 to start this business.
They want given to them what others have earned!
Because they see it as "not fair". And that is all they see.
It won't matter who (visibly) performs the attack.
Iran will revenge itself on both the US and Israel, specifics depending mostly on its own capabilities.
re: #65 pegcity
Uh, sorry to be dense, but why is Russia building another reactor - they still have several hundred very servicable nuke warheads and the missile capability to deliver them NOW.
i read on debka that the raid would be conducted with attack drones, makes sense to me, why risk a 89 million dollar plane and a 5 million dollar pilot when u can do it by remote control.
And then when the bomb load is dropped fly the damn thing into a barracks.
in '68, Black Afgani was called "Primo" and it went for $75 an ounce in SoCal.........
very powerful stuff.
an ounce ?
why you rich scoundrel (wink)
we had to pay by the gram
5 whole dollars
versus 3 for crappy Lebanese Blond
which was really pot pollen (I think)
sweet tasting but no THC of significance
while we're on this
you remember Mr. Natural ?
Window Pane ?
and the infamous..............
insert drumroll......
I remember reading President Wilson's speeches in college and realizing that the man hated the constitution. It was a bit of a shock.
u never had the liberal party ruling your country, and when i say ruling i mean it, they treated canada as their personal fiefdom. I think their still in shock they aren't in power anymore.

Quote from novel by James Collins:
"In order to steal from the rich to give to the poor, you have to have rich."
But I guess they'll fix that as soon as possible. And then whom do you steal from?
u never had the liberal party ruling your country, and when i say ruling i mean it, they treated canada as their personal fiefdom. I think their still in shock they aren't in power anymore.
Did you see the front page of the Mop & Pail yesterday? "The Man (Harper) versus the Brand (liberal party)". If Harper dissolves parliment and calls an election, I think the liberals will get trounced.
yup, they are in serious doodoo in Quebec, the Green Shaft is their election platform, talk about out of touch, sorry liberals we aren't all clamoring to spend more money on useless social programs so your girl friends can make 90 grand a year doing nothing.
u never had the liberal party ruling your country, and when i say ruling i mean it, they treated canada as their personal fiefdom. I think their still in shock they aren't in power anymore.
Give the Democrats time. If they win all three houses this election, they could well make your liberal party look like armatures.
By the by, noticing your avatar, I found this today. You might find it amusing.
Look at the coalition of special interest groups commonly referred to as the Democratic Party. A few intellectual elites with statist agenda surrounded by masses of people those elites consider dumb enough to herd into voting booths to pull the party lever and then completely forget about until the next election season.
Obama had the audacity (see below) to say today that Palin was just making stuff up - you know like his running mate! Hello Kettle?
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Barack Obama took his first direct swipe at Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on Saturday, criticizing her for supporting congressional earmarks before opposing them.
“I know the governor of Alaska has been, you know, saying she is change,” Obama said at a town hall meeting here. “And that is great. She is a skillful politician. But when you [have] been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person.
“That is not change, come on,” Obama continued. “I mean, words mean something. You can’t just make stuff up. You can’t just make stuff up. We have a choice to make and the choice is clear.”
re: #100 pegcity
Well "Democracy seems to be an annoyance to liberals" because it IS.
Doncha know that the elites of the Left Party know what's best for all of us - even if they have no effin' idea of how to operate, say, a farm, or an oil refinary, or a hardware store or................you get the idea.
They believe that all of us in "flyover" country should do what they say (not necessarily what they DO) because they are so superior to us intellectually.
I think a major reason why they are always stepping in shit is because they are too busy looking down their noses at us to watch where they're going!
Has anyone ever seen someone from the 'Worker's Party' actually working?
Well, I did see one pimping a "Worker's Party" rag (tri-color print, which is not cheap) on a street corner once. I grabbed one out of curiosity, then saw that the price on this rather thin rag was $5. I laughed uproariously and handed it back to him. Oh, teh irony.
Wilson also gave us the IRS, the Federal Reserve, and the utterly horrible 17th Amendment that changed Senate elections to popular vote. I have said quite often he was the worst President ever.
i read on debka that the raid would be conducted with attack drones, makes sense to me, why risk a 89 million dollar plane and a 5 million dollar pilot when u can do it by remote control.
Indeed. I don't know much about armament, but I question whether a Predator could carry the sort of payload required for destroying large, underground, heavily reinforced buildings.
If anyone knows otherwise, please enlighten me.
Debka is often interesting, but hit or miss in the accuracy department.
An interesting theme in the feminist blogs. If the Obama misogny is left to stand against Hilary and now Palin then women across the country will have been set back in their efforts for political equity.
There is a tide of lefist people all of a sudden thinking women shouldn't hold high office if they have school age children.
**
If the LLL live by this instead of being the liars they usually are women are going to have a harder time in the Democratic party of the future as long as there is a competent male candidate competing.
sounds like he was more of a dictator than president, also didn't he do everything in his power to keep america out of world war 1 because he was some sort of isolationist nativist?

i love it when he goes off the prompter.
such a disparity btw the well scripted stuff he reads and the dumb stuff he spouts. he is not a smart or articulate person at all.
Which explains why the government shipped the troops boxes full of marital aids and filled the inner cities with drugs and ammunition?
I didn't mean it like that. The left attacks our military and thus makes it harder for us to win wars and they promoted welfare schemes that undermined marriage in much of America.
A community organizer!
A Mexican American who valiantly strove to unionize field workers in California...blah,blah,blah.... and annoyed everyone else by convincing lefties not to buy lettuce.

Predator is a light weight, a couple maybe 4 Hellfires max. It's bigger cousin the Reaper can haul 4 500lb JDAMs.
Darkstar, a big Boeing UAV, officially not in service can haul a huge payload.
It won't matter who (visibly) performs the attack.
Iran will revenge itself on both the US and Israel, specifics depending mostly on its own capabilities.
in point of fact, there are a number of us who think an (undeclared) state of war has existed with Iran since 1979 when Iran tresspassed upon our internationally recognized soil (our embassy) and held our 54 people hostage for 444 days. Not to mention their arming and training Hezbollah for the attacks on the Marine Corps. barracks in Lebannon in 1983, and not to mention they're arming, training and occassionally going into Iraq to lead the "freedom fighters" to kill American Troops.
I really don't want to sound "hawkish" here, but if they have anything left with which to retailiate, bring it on; the net effect will be that Iran will simply cease to exist as a nation. Period.
There's no mention in the article about his father's death from a fertilizer accident. As they unloaded the containers, someone dropped it, the lid came off, and Librado Chavez inhaled the fumes. Days later, he was dead.
There will always be "The Rich" the difference will be a change in perspective from the big house they have and you don't. To the food they have and you don't.
So this is the latest attempt to engender angst amongt the rank and file support of McCain/Palin - not working though. PS: This rubbish is bandied about at the Netscape / AOL site...This is why Netscape/AOL is hazardous to the cerebellum.
Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin attempted to quietly have her daughter Bristol get married before news of her pregnancy leaked out, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER is reporting exclusively in its new issue. But Bristol, 17, refused to go along with the plan and that sparked a mother-daughter showdown over the failed coverup.
Indeed. I don't know much about armament, but I question whether a Predator could carry the sort of payload required for destroying large, underground, heavily reinforced buildings.

If Israel had 2-300 Sea Launched Cruise Missiles on converted merchant ships (the Arsenal Ship that America didn't build)then maybe they could try that approach and even that would have trouble penetrating. As for drones, No. They need earth penetrators to destroy deep bunkers. That means either:
1. ballistic missiles,
2. special 2,000+ lb bombs from long range bombers, or
3. commando raids.
Melanie Phillips makes a mistake in her claim that ID claims only that life was originally created by the action of some intelligence. ID, as propounded by the Discovery Institute, claims that the various later major branchings in the tree of life were also the work of some intelligence.
The funny thing is, in a very strange way, they're right. Distributed intelligence gets the answer without any one mind knowing how it all goes. There doesn't even have to be a mind anywhere. Anthills are a simple example of distributed intelligence.
Now, make a big stretch. The whole of life is a kind of distributed intelligence, finding answers to the central question that life asks: how to be fruitful and multiply?
But that's not what the DI and ID'ers in general have in mind.

I have been out of the loop professionally for years - to drop a precision deep penetrator requires a pilot and loads of support according to my last amateur reading.
Put Debka under "counterintelligence" - they are very good at what they do.
I didn't mean it like that. The left attacks our military and thus makes it harder for us to win wars and they promoted welfare schemes that undermined marriage in much of America.
There will always be "The Rich" the difference will be a change in perspective from the big house they have and you don't. To the food they have and you don't.
I agree. Those who wield the power in a commie/socialist government are the rich, and they prosecute anyone who complains about it.
IIRC the -117 is retired. But the B-2 is very capable. Add in the little Israel test run against the radars in Syria last Sept. It going to be interesting.
i was thinking they could be rigged out kamikaze style and just use the damn plane as the bomb, at least it would make sense to take out their SAMs
Given the number of targets and the cost of the Predator, I'm guessing there has to be some prioritization, and Predator would be used for identifying/ hitting mobile targets, but as you say, might be good tactic to send Predators in first to degrade their anti-aircraft radar, thus making it safer for subsequent waves of bombers.
its too bad old peanut farmer didn't just declare war and help back up the Shah.
The old peanut farmer tried to shake down the Shah. The Shah told him to get fucked.
The old peanut farmer had the power of the US to bring to the pissing contest.
Shame on me (I voted for him) shame on us for electing him. The world we have today is courtesy of Jimmy Carter & co. brain dead fuck ups. Greed/Arrogance Inc.
Look at the Norks Rebuilding their nukes, if Obama wins god help us all, i swear to god it would be the end of the world, he'd be finishing the job Jimmy Started.
This isn't 1979, we have Pakistan basically an ungovernable rouge nation with nukes, North Korea a god knows what the hell it is with nukes, Iran getting nukes, China , Russia.
None of the above will work. A systematic destruction of Iran's nuclear weapons program, much of which figures to be well hidden and currently unkown to our intelligence, would require a lot of boots on the ground. Commando raids would fail because the places that are open knowledge are surely protected by large garrisons. Commandos can work wonders, but at some point, it becomes Buth Cassidy&Sundance Kid vs. the entire Bolivian Army. The U.S. got a taste of that in Mogadishu, and though the Iranian military may not be top drawer, it's better than Somali warlord militias.
Long range bombers might be able to deliver some munitions on target, but Iran apparently (according to the link Secret War with Iran, headlined in this very thread), has a quantity of modern air defense assets. There's also the likelihood that the underground bunkers are so deep that even bunker-buster bombs won't reach, or if they do, the damage will be contained by blast doors etc. underground.
With all this, the question of what is to be done has no easy answer.
no he seems to speak in ebonics quite often, just gibberish.

how did this fool get this far?

He's had no opposition before now. This is his first time against a tough opponent.
As Paul Begala says, it is not how you strike back, it's how you strike first!
Now is the time. In my opinion Barack Obama himself should - with extensive TV coverage - march into the Denver Police Department to file a report and a criminal complaint of theft. He should allege that the McCain campaign or otherwise persons unknown stole his American flags, desecrated them, called them garbage, and tried to use them for campaign purposes. He should allege that these flags were carefully bundled for continued use at other events, and that theft of items from one campaign to another is a new low and demonstrates that the McCain campaign is bankrupt of ideas for the nation and will not shy away from criminal activity and lies."
The police report should then be distributed to the media. Put the onus on the other side. Show some guts for a change!
This needs to be done because if Obama does not do this, they will haul the bags of flags onto a stage - again, with TV coverage - and declare that they are "rescuing" American flags from being desecrated, and this will not be good for the Obama campaign.
In the end what the Arabs see as unfair is that those damm Jews don't just sit and wait to be given weapons. They took our old Sherman tanks and made them better (probably better examples). Don't count out the Israelis in this they might just already have what they need but need to play as they don't for the surprise factor.
IIRC the -117 is retired. But the B-2 is very capable. Add in the little Israel test run against the radars in Syria last Sept. It going to be interesting.
I believe you're right. I was thinking of the wrong aircraft re: the Darkstar. I would certainly feel better if a few are in service over Iran.
in point of fact, there are a number of us who think an (undeclared) state of war has existed with Iran since 1979 when Iran tresspassed upon our internationally recognized soil (our embassy) and
Want to critique this common misconception. Under the Vienna Conventions for the Protection of Diplomatic Personnel Embassies and Consulates, like registered diplomats, have a special status wherein the foreign powers have immunity from the laws of the host nation. That does not make the Embassy US soil. For example if a woman gives birth in the US embassy in Wakistan the child is not a US citizen.
Put Debka under "counterintelligence" - they are very good at what they do.
just add "sometimes they are very good at what they do, probably less than 20% of the time, and I'd agree with you. I've been studying Debka for years because of their alleged ties to Isralei
Intelligence and all I can say is I sure hope Israeli intelligence is a whole lot better than Debka.
The AF began a program 18 months ago to design and build large bomb shackles capable of like 30 tons to support heavy penetrators in the B-2 stealth bomber. Iran can bluster and talk BS all she wants, but the facts are the US can shut down Iran whenever we get the balls.
/McCain is not another Bush!

What an insane time.
Yes - all building to a crescendo note or a very stressful time al la "duck and cover drills"
Remember, the US is the "Great Satan", while Israel is only the "Little Satan". The US is also a target for Iranian nukes, although they'd have to be delivered via container ship or something, not by missile.
I really don't want to sound "hawkish" here, but if they have anything left with which to retailiate, bring it on; the net effect will be that Iran will simply cease to exist as a nation. Period.
Their most conventional retaliation would be missile attacks on Israel from Lebanon (with increasing capability from Gaza), possibly missile attacks on allied positions in Iraq, but Iran is a terrorist nation and much of their retaliation will not be conventional. They are already evaluating extensive kidnappings of Israelis overseas and might do similar things to Americans.
These sorts of things, however hostile, are unlikely to provoke obliteration of the Iranian nation.

re: #159 transient
Right now we don't have drones of any type that could carry the weapons needed to get to the underground bunkers and destroy Iran's centerfuges and other scientific material, but we really don't have to do that; all we have to do is blow up enough that no one can get in..........or out.
And when they try to re-open the tunnels, close 'em up again.
But I still think you'd need WAY more armament than any of our current drones carry for that. A few Tomahawk missles OTOH, yes, we could do it all.
I believe you're right. I was thinking of the wrong aircraft re: the Darkstar. I would certainly feel better if a few are in service over Iran.
The DarkStar was an unmanned, high-altitude recon craft. Both prototypes crashed; the project was eventually cancelled.
If they're still using SGI workstations, I have some software running in the ground stations for Global Hawk, and it would have been used for Dark Star. This is image display stuff, not control.
i bet Iran could be shut down without dropping bombs, who knows what a massive information attack would do.
Thats what would scare me if i were Iran and Syria, what good is a SAM if your power stations are knocked offline by zombie bots.
I disagree, cyber attacks are good for temporary disruption. Making large holes in infrastructure and nuclear facilities is another matter. However the nuclear centrifuge cascade is a different item altogether, and a cyber attack could easily destroy the entire cascade.
The AF began a program 18 months ago to design and build large bomb shackles capable of like 30 tons to support heavy penetrators in the B-2 stealth bomber. Iran can bluster and talk BS all she wants, but the facts are the US can shut down Iran whenever we get the balls.

We've been working on super penetrating bombs. Add in the small nuke, kt range or less and some serious deep bunker busting is an option.
The small nuke is a sticky wicket, but if it goes off deep and never has significant release into the atmosphere it may be doable from a political stand point.

From what I understand, explosive technology has increased to the point where a 30 ton deep penetrator will do the trick with no nuclear components. /Politically a nuke is deep do-do.

I see Debka mainly as an amusing propaganda arm of Israeli intelligence.

If attacked, Iran would be expected to use its proxy Hizb'Allah in a series of terrorist attacks against American and Israeli interests all over the globe (potentially even within the USA).
We're talking kidnappings, car bombs, assassinations, that sort of thing.
How effective it would be remains to be seen, but none of these things would really undermine an American or Israeli (or joint) attack.
There's also the likelihood that the underground bunkers are so deep that even bunker-buster bombs won't reach, or if they do, the damage will be contained by blast doors etc. underground.
is not necessary. See my #234. All we have to do is make sure Iran can't get into those tunnels orout of them; and I think our satellite imagery going back for a few years or so, has enabled us to determine where all the tunnels are located, though the Irans, if they were smart, built lots of phony tunnels as well. SO we destroy ALL THE TUNNELS we know about and watch what Iran tries to dig down to, then hit 'em with the so called "Super Bunker Buster Bomb".
End of game, end of war, end of Iraq as any kind of military power (cause we'd have to take out their Command and Control, Anti-Aircraft missile and gun defenses, "navy" and Air Force, drop a few hundered 500 pound bombs on the vaunted Revolutionary Guard and hell, even Kuwaitt could take Iran militarily).
I am laughing my ass off at the meltdown over there about these flags.
Do they not realize what a laughingstock Obama would be if he filed theft charges and the guy who found them by the dumpster told, on national tv, what had happened?
This would be a helmet in the tank moment for him.
how about a different approach, take out the mullah's and dinner jacket, the high military command and their nuclear scientists.
Check the article, the Secret War with Iran, linked at the top. According to the book, the Israelis and/or the US has been operating for years and has killed personnel involved in Iran's nuclear project, and sabotaged some of the parts. It's slowed down the project, but not stopped it.
(Aside: How is it possible that one government agency was actively targeting a project it knew was active, while another issues a report stating the project stopped in 2003? ...Nevermind....)
Re: assassinations: never as easy as it sounds when you are targeting paranoid types who know they are targets. Otherwise we, or the Israelis, would have killed Saddam Hussein on the first day of the war if not long before. You'd have to kill a lot of people to have a good chance of eliminating the Iranian regime (and if you succeeded, there's currently nothing to take over).
remember that explosion in syria that took out all those technicians testing out the VX gas rockets, yeah accident my ass. Just like the ICBM accident in north Korea.
re: #221 lifeofthemind
"For example if a woman gives birth in the US embassy in Wakistan the child is not a US citizen."
Do you have a link to that; I've always thought that if US citizens give birth to a child in a US Embassy anywhere, then the child is a US Citizen. And I'd appreciate the link about it not being sovereign territory also.
My suspicion is that in a regime like Iran's the most efficient way to destroy an underground facility is to use a small special forces team to get the bomb inserted into the target. Different approaches will be needed for each target in the distributed network. Some will be best attacked with conventional airpower.
The Iranians have worked hard at both complicating our targeting and creating a rigid security system. To some extent these two approaches are contradictory. Also I am counting on the phenomenon that in highly authoritarian organizations the more that formal security is increased the more porous the system becomes. To some extent that can even happen in America and the dissolving of the Strategic Air Command has proven to be a security nightmare. In Iran it may be possible to penetrate their most secure locations. If they read this and attempt to make procedures even more rigid and triple secure then they will only compound their problem.
Agreed that an initial strike does not end the problem. We cannot eliminate this threat with an initial attack. That means we do not need to achieve 100% success. We can at best delay and damage the Iranian effort. If anyone believes that a surgical strike or some movie action by James Bond will solve the problem then they are in for bitter disappointment. Once we hit them we will have to coerce them into a formal surrender with the entire program exposed and destroyed. As North Korea has demonstrated signing an agreement based on trust and bribery will not work.
remember that explosion in syria that took out all those technicians testing out the VX gas rockets, yeah accident my ass. Just like the ICBM accident in north Korea.
I noticed the USS Pueblo survivors are having a reunion. As a Navy vet I deeply resent command not recognizing the sacrifices of these guys and many others in the cold-war....
From what I understand, explosive technology has increased to the point where a 30 ton deep penetrator will do the trick with no nuclear components. /Politically a nuke is deep do-do.
Apart from a pre-emptive nuclear strike being a political non-starter (even a relatively clean nuke), nukes would also complicate subsequent on the ground verification after a strike.

Yeah, I think it will require multiple sorties, and I don't think Israel is capable of doing numerous sorties over that distance, or keeping the buildings shut down. Which is why I'd rather see the US do it.
It seems as though there is a massive disinformation campaign underway between the US and Israel to keep everyone guessing who is going to do the deed, and when. The Israelis say the US will do it (while they conduct drills that look suspiciously like a long range flight and attack), and the US has different people saying we aren't going to do it, Israel's going to do it, Israel's not going to do it, we are pressuring Israel not to do it.
I just hope Iran wakes up to a big November surprise, and I'm not talking about election results.
Remember, the US is the "Great Satan", while Israel is only the "Little Satan". The US is also a target for Iranian nukes, although they'd have to be delivered via container ship or something, not by missile.
frankly I'm getting tired of the U.S. always relying on Israel to do the dirty work for us; to accomplish the discussed mission, the U.S. is infinitely better equipped and located to do the job and frankly WE SHOULD DO OUR OWN DIRTY WORK. For a change.
Military training teaches one to become self sufficient; resourceful; flexible; and a host of other qualities I find lacking or in need of development and support in those who missed the opportunity.
While there are great Americans who never served in the military - they are exceptions rather than the rule.
Well, that last link is a bundle of cheer, isn't it:
As Bergman writes in a sober concluding chapter, "Iran and Hizbullah are more sophisticated, effective and determined adversaries than Israel and the United States have previously encountered in the Middle East. These new enemies, the Shi'ites of Iran and Lebanon, have repeatedly outwitted Israel and the West, beating them across the board in politics, in intelligence gathering and in war."
Now Iran is on the brink of attaining the ultimate tool for expanding the Islamic Revolution, the nuclear bomb, and still the international community hesitates and bickers and even undermines its own ineffectual trade sanctions.
re: #253 Typicalwhitey
As long as he took pictures of them in the dumpster. Then there will be no denial. I get the feeling the way things are going those pictures exist and that little bomb is being held back for full effect.
is not necessary. See my #234. Denying access to the facilities is one phase. And set them backs a few years. Taking out the brains will take a generation to replace. Best option is set the stage for internal regime stage. Take out the Command and Control and have support in place to support a more friendly government.
Debka has zero credibility. If you want to know whats really going on, I recommend Strategy Page
Oh, of course not.
I'm not really sure who writes Debka, but I see it as the Pravda of Israeli intelligence.
You read it for entertainment, not education.
Interesting e-mail from my sister (NOT the moonbat one.)
She was at some pro-life election workshop today where the speaker was showing them poll results about the issue. It seems that c. 20% of "likely voters" believe Obama is opposed to abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or saving the life of the mother. Another c.30% believe he approves of it only in the first trimester. About 48% don't know. And only 10% know he supports abortion on demand all the way through 9 mos.
Geepers! I don't think our media does a very good job of informing people.
frankly I'm getting tired of the U.S. always relying on Israel to do the dirty work for us; to accomplish the discussed mission, the U.S. is infinitely better equipped and located to do the job and frankly WE SHOULD DO OUR OWN DIRTY WORK. For a change.
Real, we have been doing the "west's" dirty work for the last 60 years. I have no doubt that McCain will win this election and continue our duties of the damned "Dirty-work" that no other western nation except Israel will consider. Maybe that's why the US and Israel get along so well. We both do the "dirty-work" that others scurry from!
but Iran is a terrorist nation and much of their retaliation will not be conventional. They are already evaluating extensive kidnappings of Israelis overseas and might do similar things to Americans.
However, kiddnappings and such can be prevented through conventional methods. If Iran were to try to use WMD - poison gas, bacterial warfare, dirty bombs on US Forces in Iraq or ship a dirty bomb over here and destroy a large US city then I do indeed think that would be the end of Iran.
And, btw, I don't know if you were here when a poster named "reaganite" was here, but he was in charge of one of the USAF "bomb disposal units" and
in addition to working with the USSS to protect presidents, knew more about bombs than any man I've ever had the privilige of breaking bread with. He assured me - and assured all of us out here, that all bombs, from roadside IED's to dirty nuke weapons to nuclear warheads leave a telltale "fingerprint" (or maybe it was "footprint") so that true experts could tell who constructed it and who provided the material IN it. I believe him completely on that; if Iran tries any sort of direct retaliation on US Troops or on the US itself, that would indeed be the end of Iran.
frankly I'm getting tired of the U.S. always relying on Israel to do the dirty work for us; to accomplish the discussed mission, the U.S. is infinitely better equipped and located to do the job and frankly WE SHOULD DO OUR OWN DIRTY WORK. For a change.
I'm guessing even if we do it we will be relying on Israeli HUMINT. I really don't want to say more on the subject but I think you get my drift.
The Flynn article on Recreate 68 is good. The only problem with Flynn's analysis for the left is they don't do Chronology and Cause & Effect but rather focus on "critical thinking" thus repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
Today I went to a moonbat music festival in Golden Gate Park called Power to the Peaceful. Zombie documented it last year I believe. A beautiful warm sunny day -- rare out there near the ocean -- brought out tens of thousands. Lots of lunatic left booths, lunatic speakers between sets (including Susie "Medea" Benjamin crowing about getting inside the RNC), and a quite prominent presence of troothers. And, surprisingly, very little in the way of "green" action. Much harder-edged than the Earth Day shindigs, or last year's Summer of Love anniversary. I will have pics to share in a day or two.
One thing that stood out is that a couple Palin smears got the most cheers of the non-musical portions, more so than the mention of Obama's name. One of the brief speakers was a "community organizer" whose organization ostensibly helps gang members in the Mission District move away from violence, drugs, etc. But it was clear that what this organization is doing is trying to politicize the gangs for possible use as revolutionary shock troops.
The musical acts were Warren Haynes solo acoustic (Gov't Mule, Allman Bros, at times Phil Lesh and Friends and The Dead, an elder in the overall "jamband" scene, Ziggy Marley (sounds just like his dad), and the headliner/organizer, Michael Franti (moonbat peacenik extraordinaire) with an expanded version of his band Spearhead.
I noticed the USS Pueblo survivors are having a reunion. As a Navy vet I deeply resent command not recognizing the sacrifices of these guys and many others in the cold-war....
In all due respect - what do you want?
We did our gig - most of us got shit recognition - so what? My chest swells with pride just knowing what i know - that you know and applaud is an extra.
BTW - I applaud you Dude - wanna come to the IBM-GEM PACOPS reunion in Nevada next week or so? - we will all applaud you - we all supported you.
re: #231 loflyer
Hey, hi loflyer! Uh Thursday night or tonight? I'm not sure what you mean by a great and uplifting night in all respects but if you'd like to spell it out SOON (I gotta get to bed) I'm all ears or you can e-mail me, my nic's in blue!
After the media awarded Obama his coronation on the night of his speech, one would think this was over...I recall however a man with slumped over shoulders carrying his own suitcases in an airport. Not too far later he was the Republican nominee. He is not one to be underestimated.
I remember that pic...does anyone have a link to a copy? I can't seem to google it up.
I must say, after a week of talking to people here in Michigan, watching King Kwame take the big fall in Detroit, and seeing the coverage of McCain's visit, I no longer feel like Michigan is a done deal for the Dems. I think it's swinging in favor of McCain/Palin, but there are a lot of holdouts, too. We really need to work, and get this state.
bullshit on all accounts, if Israel were allowed to actually win a war hezbollah would be toast.
It's only misplaced compassion that allows these creeps to keep on breathing.
We could wipe them all out in hours if collateral damage weren't an issue.
I don't think the author is saying that head-to-head, Iran/Hizballah is stronger than US/Israel. Of course not. But his very point is close to yours; political correctness has hobbled the good guys.
If you watch "Darkstar" and then "Alien" you will see where the later came from.
The scene where Sgt. Pinback is chasing the "beachball" through the Darkstar is just like Ripley and hunting and being hunted by the Alien in the Nostromo's air vents.
"Darkstar" played it for laughs, "Alien" for screams.
Given the amount of SAM coverage around the Iran nuke sites, stealth would be an awfully nice characteristic to have in the strike package.
This is indeed something the US military can do better than Israel.
i think the F22 is amazing, but if u leave them in a glass jar their not doing much good, i know america needs them to fight Iron Man and Transfomers and assorted aliens but they could actually be useful in the real world as well.

First order of business is to blind and defang air defense. We've got all the main radar sites mapped, it's pretty straight forward. Stealth in zap the main radar, take out the C&C. So all the missiles batteries are now operating independently. Then work them over. That has the added benefit if leaving the Iran AF blind and launching fighters into the unknown.
re: #272 pegcity
Uh, well the F-16 SuperHornets can, but the F-22 Raptor really is the "air superiority fighter" these days.
Regrettably, we are retiring the F-15's even though the ONLY LOSSES the F-15's incurred was in the mock airfights agains the F-22's. We are retiring a jet fighter that no other nations' fighters has been able to best in real aerial combat. Ever. And we're retiring them.
We need not fear the Russians or the Iranians or both of them with conventional forces, not even a little bit.
Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.
None of the above will work. A systematic destruction of Iran's nuclear weapons program, much of which figures to be well hidden and currently unkown to our intelligence, would require a lot of boots on the ground. Kill Ahmedinejad and everyone close to him. Cut the head off the snake. At the same time, strike known sites, and interdict heavily around any place that looks like one. Nobody gets in or out. They can't make a bomb if they die trying to get to work.
I think we ought to be working with Iranian dissidents to build (as much as possible) an entire parallel government for Iran, as part and parcel of the efforts to halt their program. Iran ceases to be a threat when the threatening types are dead or in prison. We know this from Iraq.

Few years back a wing of -15 lost a series of engagements to the Indians and SU-27s. The F-15s had no AWACS support for the games. ACM training has picked up since.

During the cold war, whenever a disaster hit the navy, such as the Pueblo, Forestall, Enterprise, and especially the Iowa turret explosion, command immediately siced NI onto some blameless personnel. Two years later tests indicated the Iowa turret explosion was due to improper gun powder compression during the loading cycle. Navy command up to that point was blaming some poor sailor for a gay "death-wish" suicide. I will never forgive Navy command for what they did to this poor sailor and family.
Jihadists around the world will be watching as closely as intelligence officials this week to see whether Mr Gadahn - also known as Azzam al-Ameriki - produces a new video message to mark September 11, as he has done every year since 2003.
re: #277 JCM Yep, that's why I recommend taking out Command and Control and burying the bunkers, repeatedly if need be.
What the Iranian citizens do, when they find out their august leaders have spent enormous amounts of their money and have been unable to defend Iran, would be very interesting to see - with or without our help!
I have no problem with your position - I have had a woodie on that one since day one. Well OK ... a couple of days.

I know nothing about some of these capabilities but my question is: With their land based proximity to targets can radars that are mapped be taken out with missiles (cruise or regular)? Negating the urgent need for stealth.
Few years back a wing of -15 lost a series of engagements to the Indians and SU-27s. The F-15s had no AWACS support for the games. ACM training has picked up since.
I wonder how stock those Sukhois were or if the Indians replaced the Russki avionics and targeting sensors with Israeli gear.
The Indians have been increasing their ties with the Israelis and one of the areas they have been working together on is military electronics.
Would not surprise me if Israeli Air Force advisors had been helping the Indians on air combat tactics as well.

Ah my friend, there is a NEW Belleau Wood and indeed, there are, iirc, something like 8 glistening new Marine Amphibious AirCraft carriers, each one capable of carrying a full Marine Corps. Brigade with all it's equipment, but also chock a block with attack helicopters, large troop transport helicopters and some Harrier Jump Jets for close in air support. LGFer
Village Idiot's Apprentice left on one of 'em about a year or so ago, though I beleive he's now be re-ordered to another type of ship.

Some yes, Iran is like most thugocracies. The put a lot of high value targets in populated areas. A brain in the cockpit at that point helps insure better accuracy.

Was recently rather extensively trained on just this point. The child of US citizen mother is a citizen by jus sanguinis. To some extent this depends on when the person was born as the law has changed repeatedly over the last century. For example both Obama and McCain are citizens no matter where they were born. The question of eligibility for the Presidency has to due with the concept of "natural born" which goes to the concept of jus solis. We are assuming that Obama was born in Hawaii and that McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone while his father was there on orders. Both qualify although some people will try to dispute it. They are entitled to a day in court.

Yep, the Navy has actually provided the jar-heads what they have been asking for the last 30 years. These are excellent ships, and with their Marine complements, capable of either disaster relief or kicking some butt as required!
I wonder how stock those Sukhois were or if the Indians replaced the Russki avionics and targeting sensors with Israeli gear.
Either way, the F-15 as a platform is very much getting on in years. It's definitely time to phase it out as an air superiority fighter. I just wish we were buying MORE F-22s.

The Indians brought their Sukhois to the most recent Red Flag, IIRC. Seems I remember seeing pics of some of the OPFOR F16's for that exercise and they were painted in the grey/blue camo pattern the Chicoms use and a green/brown camo that looked like Pakistani air force.
I think we are preparing with the Indians for when poop really hits the prop in Paki land.

I hope that when the shit hits the fan we are there to support. But if the Israelis have the capability to get the job done theoretically it keeps the theocracy guessing. Which makes some of this posturing make a little sense anyways.
There's the same kind of gap w/ regard to McCain. I read not too long ago that about 50% of those surveyed believed McCain is pro-choice, which, of course, he's not. Palin's strong views will take away whatever advantage that might have given him, although that loss may be offset by people who are drawn to her.
just reading up on its performance and it dosent seem like that much of an improvment over the F16.
It might look like an F22 but it has less than half its performance. And for 80 million a plane it seems very expensive.
Like alot of other projects it seems to have been built to fight a war that will never happen, one where having an all stealth airforce is paramount, and even then i doubt its stealth capabilities. The internal bomb configuration seems like overkill as well for a multirole plane.
I strongly discourage any attempts to portray the takedown of Iranian nuclear assets as a cakewalk.
I could take out Iran's nuke facilities with my trusty Mossberg, a couple of guys I know from the range, and a small troop of Eagle Scouts. One afternoon; zero friendly casualties.
I'm not sure if I should advertise this on the Internet, but I actually had a hand in putting GPS on the Tomahawk. [Seriously.] Back then I used to watch those awesome F-15s take off on my way to and from work.

...and come up with a wild vision of what the next 4 years could have in store for us if O'bama wins...well, am I being paranoid ? The dots are all there but they seem too fantastic to put all together into one big conspiracy.
On the other hand - tell me, after being blindsided on 9/11, that these can't all be related and equal one big massive plot to steal America right out from under our noses ? I really want to believe that no American running for the office of POTUS could really be so devious. I do not like conspiracy theories and never listen to them. I usually think the average person is basically decent and don't go for outlandish stories about an opponent simply because it works against the opponent. But, am I not to believe my eyes ? I really do want to be told "you're way off - nothing here, go to bed"
but after reading these all today I can't come up with any other conclusion. Of course there is more reading to do. I'm just praying someone will stick a giant pin in the balloon and make it all disappear with one simple fact
(or two) that I haven't considered so I can sleep comfortably tomorrow night. Anyone ?
"All of the flags at Invesco were picked up and put in bags and into storage, along with the unused flags and campaign signs. The flags were going to be donated, and the signs were going to be sent out to be used elsewhere," the official said, speaking anonymously since he was not authorized to talk to the press.
Were they planning on donating the trash that was mixed in with the flags as well?
no i don't think your paranoid, he is the manchurian candidate for real.
Thats all their is to it, this man who has done less than nothing his entire life can potentially become the leader of the free world and its not fiction.

Thanks for getting to this before I did. There were 5 LHAs, 3 are left, the Belleau Wood sleeps with the fishes. In addition we have the LHDs now. They can each carry a Marine Battalion Landing Team (not a Brigade), a mixed air unit that can include AV8s, Cobras, Ospreys and transport, and a HQ component. The Naval medical and command facilities are extensive. The old LHA originally had three 5" guns that have since been removed. There were other experimental ideas tried in them, some worked some didn't. The climate acclimatization system was useless, that space became a huge weight room. Ships travel slow enough that the marines will get used to the weather where they are going anyways. The new LHDs can carry two of the air cushion landing craft.

I wasn't in the military, if that's what you mean, but like to think of myself as a former "Cold Warrior" in the civilian sense. All the skill and bravery in the world isn't going to win the day if you're fighting with squirt guns!
That being said, I'm sure the superior pilots and training are no small part of the F-15s incredible record.

Both Yeager and Boyd proved the driver was more important. But a superior driver in a superior airplane, and you can't be beat.
Curious that no one is going on the record with that, instead opting for the anonymous quote. Nice.
Still, more important issues to deal with - like how to get further inside Obama's OODA loop. While his minions are trying to come up with the latest Palin smear, McCain needs to pop on energy or the economy.
Screw Huffpo, The KosKids, and the frigging jackass they rode in on.

Thanks for the report! I was a bit curious as to what this year would be like. Sounds quite a bit like last year, aside from the Palin jabs. And yes, as I previously outlined, "Community Organizer" = someone whose job it is to bring the disaffected apolitical underclass under the Marxist banner where they can serve as the future Brownshirts when needed.
I started to watch that clip, at low volume, and the squealing noise made by the ball set off all three of the dogs in the room. They went from sound asleep to running into the living room barking like idiots in a split second.
(I'm dog-sitting three very small and sweet but edgy dogs. One of them is a Chihuahua with a Napoleon complex. None of them know I have a Glock 19 with 30 available rounds of Federal HST 147gr to deal with beach ball aliens)

Thanks for that link! I remember film back then that had some or all of that. In particular, I remember somebody telling me that the film was unclassified, but that the size of those square concrete slabs, and how far off the mark it was when it hit the bunker, were secret.

There are many in the mil who call themselves Boydians. The Marines are at the tip of the spear.
Pollster John Zogby: "Clearly, Palin is helping the McCain ticket. She has high favorability numbers, and has unified the Republican Party. The striking thing here in this poll is that McCain has pulled ahead among Catholics by double-digits. On the other hand, Palin is not helping with likely voting women who are not aligned with either political party. The undecided independent women voters decreased this week from 15% to 7%, but those women went to Obama. Palin is also helping among men, conservatives, notably with suburban and rural voters, and with frequent Wal-Mart shoppers, who tend to be "values" voters who like a good value for their money."
Obama cited his proposals to place a new Social Security payroll tax on incomes above $250,000 and to eliminate federal income taxes for older people making less than $50,000 a year. He also said he would "allow the government to negotiate with drug companies to lower costs for seniors, and we'll allow re importation of drugs from other countries and ensure their safety."

What I don't get about Boyd is why the heck I had never heard of him until recently. The guy was amazing - he seems to have applied control theory to man-machine systems.
Considering that his insights and hard work fathered the idea of the OODA loop, the F-16, the A-10, and victory in the 1st Gulf War, among other things, it seems amazing on paper, but you need to read his bio. Like all good world-changers, he was so Driven that he wasn't that great of a guy to be around (according to most), he stepped on all kinds of toes, pissed in many a bowl of cornflakes, and generally terrorized go-with-the-flow bureaucrats everywhere. To acknowledge the existence of such people is to encourage their creation, and that scares the crap out of the average person.
It's an odd quirk of human nature that causes most people to fear a person like him. Nobody likes being on the wrong end of a paradigm shift. Go and tell somebody in a cushy position that they're doing their job all wrong, and see how fast they move to erase you from their world by any means necessary.
(Personally, as an artist, I NEED people to tell me I'm doing my job wrong, otherwise I don't get any better. I have, however, worked in enough office jobs to see the flip side.)

there aren't that many strategic targets in the country.
my question is Zombie do people in San Fran actually work? It seems people have alot of time to protest
Oh sure -- there's a "working class," and a "goof off class." The working class are not "working-class" people like in other parts of the country, but are in fact mostly astronomically overpaid tech or financial employees. I think San Francisco has the highest average salary of any big city in the country.
There are just a lot fo trustafarians too. You pretty much have to be a trustafarian to be a goof-off around here -- everything is too expensive to do the old-fashioned Bohemian lifestyle.
Back then, the average person had never heard of GPS, and we could only test during certain hours because all the satellites weren't up yet.
Technically, you'd call it "GPS-aided inertial". You still need the inertial nav to mitigate jamming of the GPS, which can happen as you get close to your target. It was all pretty cool stuff.

One day I came home from work, and my wife happened to make a comment about the headline of the day. They were talking about SLCMs and GLCMs, and she thought it sounded pretty silly. It was one of those, "you know, that stuff is paying our bills right now" moments. She had no idea what the heck they were.

VOTE OBAMA FOR CHANGE.
I think that there is something terribly wrong with creating a voting majority that does not pay taxes. Too many voters can now vote to increase the taxes of their neighbors, confident that they will not have to pay the tax increase themselves. We are dividing up the electorate in to the looters on one side and the looted on the other.
Better that we had a system that only allowed those who will pay a particular tax have the franchise to vote yeah or nay on a particular tax or for the representative politicians who will or won't raise such a tax.
Representation without taxation is a path to tyranny.
No, the DNC and Obamabots did. There are reports that a third of Hillary women have defected. And gays seem to be defecting as well.
Basically they say it in hopes that it will discourage defection. They are rather cynical in that they think Democratic women have no esteem. But it isn't true.
In CO, campaigners report only a few Obama supporters in a sea of McCain-Palin supporters.
there aren't that many strategic targets in the country.
You're going need to hit every aspect of their military C3I as quickly as possible. If we attack them, this isn't about just nuclear sites, it's about taking down their entire military capacity to retaliate.

"TrooperGate" (hey - if it has a NAME, it must be a legitimate scandal, right?) reminds me of how, some months ago, they tried to make it sound like McCain had some kind of affair. It's pure inuendo.
It's been established that neither she - nor anybody in her office - threatened to fire the BIL's boss. But what really convinces me that there's nothing to it is the fact that the guy she replaced him with didn't fire the BIL either.
How much of a scumbag the BIL was is actually fairly irrelevant to the ethics issue.
Actually the left perfectly knows well that increasing taxes on the investment side is terrible for the economy - which is what they want. They have to tear down the capitalist system to clear the way for the socialist/communist utopia.

That's the root of the argument of flat tax v. consumption tax. Tithe 10=15% (give to Caesar etc) or pay either a national sales tax or big ticket tax. Elders would be excluded in the latter except for the 3rd vacation home or occasional Cadillac. In any scenario above, the death tax would need to be eliminated or the assets will be diverted to non-taxable assets. FYI, not a CPA or FA, just a guy looking for a not a tax break

I think one of the founders said esentialy the same thing but here is a quote that points to the problem we are facing.
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.~Sir Alex Fraser Tytler (1742-1813), Scottish jurist and historian, professor of Universal History at Edinburgh University
"Serenity Room" is code for muslim prayer room. They're popping up everywhere, even in private corporations.
Heh - rebels in the military like wild ducks - get shot down occasionally.

I really admire Boyd. I guess it's because he was - well - a maverick! Somebody who saw past the cultural traditions in his field to find the best way of doing something, and someone who was more interested in helping our country and its airmen than in furthering his career. Surely he would have been far better off, materially, by just sucking up to whatever the generals said.
So long as no group is excluded from the liability of any tax they vote for or against, I would be happy. I don't think that the poor or the elderly should be given a pass unless they willingly surrender their franchise in regards to votes on taxation and representatives who have taxing authority.
Better that everyone is liable then give any one group or class a free ride that they could compel with their vote.
"Serenity Room" is code for muslim prayer room. They're popping up everywhere, even in private corporations.
If a private corporation wants to build a prayer room for Muslims, I don't have a problem with it. Taxpayer funds, on the other hand, should never be used to accommodate any one specific religion. That means no showers, no footbaths. Those are used to facilitate Muslim prayer, not generic quiet time.
There is the domestic conspiracy to push the country toward collectivism and that is why they are pushing the tax on the upper class. After that, only government is left to rely on.
But, there is also, seemingly, countries that don't like the idea of an energy independent America. And certainly not an America that can export it (which is concievable with green crude).
We ship off 500 billion dollars to foreign countries due to our oil need. John McCain is pushing to drill everywhere. Which has the chance of making us independent of foreign oil until domestic bio-fuels become available to replace.
500 billion dollars... We can have a nationalized healthcare system with that sort of dough. Or roughly double the size of the United States military.

personally, i was thinking of targeting regional choke points, to cut off disaffected areas from the main government, and to eliminate said government from reinforcing areas where they weren't popular.
striking radio & TV transmitters, while replacing them with US sponsored replacements would help detach the already unhappy people from the central government. they don't need to rally to us, just to something more main stream.
power system strikes, and DP strikes in areas where we know they're up to no good are different, but that's not the same as wasting all of Iran.
we don't have to hit everything, we just have to kill the head. their 'entire military capacity to retaliate' is, at best, bullshit on the world scale. as a GI how might have been on the end of the ROE at one time, yeah, some of our folks may die, but Iran is NOT in a condition to threaten us, unless we let them.
the iranian military is for shit, and my wife could keep most of them from even ringing our doorbell without permission, and that with me out running errands.

Surely he would have been far better off, materially, by just sucking up to whatever the generals said.
Roger that - however he had ethics and principals. He knew he was right and proved it time after time - Country First!
Sound familiar?
He could have had a comfortable retirement - he chose a path less traveled.
I cannot, and will not agree with you on this until you pry my weapon from my cold, dead hands.
An understandable response, which is why I added "Better that everyone is liable then give any one group or class a free ride that they could compel with their vote."
Yeah, it's pretty screwed up. Fairly early on in my career I came to the conclusion, "If you're not pissing anybody off, you can't possibly be doing anything great."
But everybody in here should recognize that "quirk in human nature". It's the same one that promotes socialism. Fear of being shown up (especially among the elitists), sense of entitlement, just palin envy, etc.
If a private corporation wants to build a prayer room for Muslims, I don't have a problem with it. Taxpayer funds, on the other hand, should never be used to accommodate any one specific religion. That means no showers, no footbaths. Those are used to facilitate Muslim prayer, not generic quiet time.
they better build one for everyone else, and mine better be a well appoined bar, open at all hours of the w*rk day, or i'm suing.
Yeah, it's pretty screwed up. Fairly early on in my career I came to the conclusion, "If you're not pissing anybody off, you can't possibly be doing anything great."

After a while - no one fucked with Boyd - he could shoot them down within 40 seconds - I think ... yeah ... there it is
But it is a slippery slope that you propose. To take away rights of the men and women who have protected our freedoms for the last 4 decades? Not now or ever. To whom do we turn to trust?. We are a representative govt, are we not? A Republic. Which means we place our trust not in the populace, but in our reps. Look locally and find your best.

OODA is brilliant, and he was a stud.
if you can get inside the loop on the OPFOR, (and everyone is the OPFOR) success is a given.
"I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great," Obama said. "She's a skillful politician. But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change..." -- Huffington Post <my emphasis>
I know, I know, it's moot to ask, but has the guy absolutely NO reasoning skills? Can he not see the difference between earmarks and not-earmarks? This is the kind of double-speak you expect from someone who really hasn't got anything to say but feels the overwhelming need to say it ... a Tourette's sufferer that's been over-caffienated, so-to-speak ...

It is a problem such that as it stands, one group has the vote to place a tax on others that it would not have to pay itself.
I am of the opinion that everyone should be equally liable for the the taxes that they would support or oppose whether through a direct vote for the tax itself or for the representatives that would have the authority to tax.
I want the authority to tax to be tied directly to the responsibility to pay the tax.
Okay, you're talking regime change. Iran's a big country, much bigger than Iraq, It has to be done all at once.
We've been prepping the battlespace for years, most of the things you suggest will probably occur, just not ad hoc or piecemeal.
Iran is NOT in a condition to threaten us, unless we let them.
Well, Iran is the crown jewel of international terrorism and has been for a long time, last notch in the "Axis of Evil". Besides the misery they've inflicted on the rest of the world, they've killed thousands of Americans in the last 30 years. Enough is enough.
/but you'll never do it on the cheap, using only asymmetrical warfare, in hundreds of years
I'm pretty sure that's where I first heard of him (and I then checked out the Wikipedia article then, too). Probably, it was via a link from here. Just think how many lives this guy saved (while everybody else seems to get the credit).

He, like Ike, didn't give a shit who got the credit.
You're going need to hit every aspect of their military C3I as quickly as possible. If we attack them, this isn't about just nuclear sites, it's about taking down their entire military capacity to retaliate.
/and many of those "targets" are going to require several aimpoints each
I remember hearing that when the Isrealis took out that site in Syria, that the US helped via cyber-warfare. Shut down their systems with computer viruses. So let's not neglect that part of our "battle plan".
The Congressional members have a pension plan outside of Social Security. Health benefits par none. Private school vouchers in DC schools. "I feel your pain". (attribution unnecessary).
Just in case no one's said it (I just got here, what'd I miss, what'd I miss?), I wanted to let everyone know (especially fellow fans) that Bill Whittle is back, and in a big way:
Sarah Palin is the anti-Obama: not a victim, not a poser, not riding a wave but rather swimming upstream — and most of all, not having run for president her entire life. She is the first politician I have ever seen — and I include Ronnie in this, God bless him — who strikes everyone who sees her as an actual, real, ordinary person. Immediately came T-shirts saying I AM SARAH PALIN. HER STORY IS MY STORY. There is a lot of Obama swag out there, too, but none of it says HIS STORY IS MY STORY. Hold that thought till November 5. -- The National Review.
Now how cool is THAT? Read the whole thing, it's great.

especially if we don't try, and gawd forbid be don't put a few hazards in their way. better we just go along, letting them screw with us and we just prove we're nice people......
i'll pass on your tactics, given their previous success.

The opposition C3I network manipulation goes back to the first Gulf war, well at least as far as Iraq goes.
/even back then, we were reading Saddam's mail in real time, placing phone calls to Iraqi officers, and generally showing them what we wanted them to see
Well it looks like the KosKiddies have come up with a new name that I am going to call Obama now, Sambo! [Link: newsbusters.org...]
That whole rumor is just so laughable....
From the smear merchant:
Besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs” – how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description – as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimo’s,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed for this article.
I guess the author doesn't know her husband is of Yup'ik Eskimo descent.

Nah...I'm still stationed on the one we spoke about.

The great thing about taking on Iran might be that we don't have to worry so much about outside forces coming in and undermining the population, do we?
I mean, in Iraq one problem with the power vacuum left by tossing Saddam out was Iran and it's agents moving in. But with Iran, we don't have to worry about Iraq (for example) sending insurgents in, do we? There's still Al Qada, of course, but they seem to have their back against the wall in Afghanistan/Pakistan right now.

When FDR signed the Social Security Act 67 years ago, he made a promise -- a promise that every hard-working American should be able to retire with dignity. Today, the Social Security system provides 46 million retirees, spouses, survivors and children with that dignity and much-needed economic security.
I oppose privatizing Social Security and handing over Americans' retirement to be held hostage to the fluctuations of the stock market. I am working every day to keep the protections we need and to preserve the dignity, security, and hope that Social Security has brought to millions of Americans.

I posted this earlier today but since Sarah Palin has us thinking about all things Alaskan and our beloved blogfather is a Frank Zappa fan, I thought it bears repeating:

What really pisses me off is when nobody's really looking for credit, and others stand in the way anyway - just because they don't want to deal with change.

I have done my part to take him to task for such lunacy. I was for many years involved in the political scene in the South Bay Area. It's how he and I came to meet.
He is too entrenched in that district to be forcibly moved out. His constituents vote for the D on the ticket no mater what name appears with it. I think they would vote for old scratch himself so long as a he had D next to his name on the ballot.

russia is bullshit, in any measurement of "superpower" status.....
it's 2008, not 1988. they can GFTT. they suck worse now then they did then, and they sucked then.

Sometimes I wonder if their nukes even still work (assuming they used to), but it's best, of course, to assume they do.
I also wonder how things are so different vs the Cold War, other than some loss of territory & people on the part of our adversary. They're still thugs, and still armed to the teeth.
I have done my part to take him to task for such lunacy. I was for many years involved in the political scene in the South Bay Area. It's how he and I came to meet.

Exactly! I had only heard the part I put in bold, below:
"We must bear in mind, then, that there is nothing more difficult and dangerous, or more doubtful of success, than an attempt to introduce a new order of things in any state. For the innovator has for enemies all those who derived advantages from the old order of things, whilst those who expect to be benefited by the new institutions will be but lukewarm defenders. This indifference arises in part from fear of their adversaries who were favoured by the existing laws, and partly from the incredulity of men who have no faith in anything new that is not the result of well-established experience. Hence it is that, whenever the opponents of the new order of things have the opportunity to attack it, they will do it with the zeal of partisans, whilst the others defend it but feebly, so that it is dangerous to rely upon the latter.''
And on that note, I say "Good Night (Morning), Lizards!"
I can count MIRV warheads, launch vehicles, yeild, and ability to withstand a balls out first strike.

1. they have *never* been our ally, all WW2 BS aside.
2. their PMCS is for shit, always has been and has only gotten worse. they have SFA in the hole.
you can count all the press releases you want but they have shit. they couldn't barely mount a 2nd world attack on Georgia, and it's contiguous to them. it only succeded because pussies like you were scared of the big bad bear that doesn't exist anymore.
if you want to be afraid of the big bad bear, go ahead, but it doesn't have any stuffing, let alone anything else.....you just like being scared.

Since 1948, Russia has amassed an estimated 600 metric tons of weapons-grade plutonium and highly-enriched uranium.
At the end of the Cold War, Russia simply didn't have the money to dismantle and store their own radioactive materials from the thousands upon thousands of tactical nuclear weapons that they had placed in hundreds of locations throughout their country. Simply put, their nuclear weapons were not secure. Therefore the newly-built complex (since 1999) at Mayak was largely financed with almost $400 million from the US Department of Defense, as part of its Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) Program.
The Mayak Fissile Material Storage Facility (FMSF) will provide secure, monitored storage for 25,000 canisters of plutonium and highly enriched uranium (HEU) from dismantled Russian nuclear weapons. Since each weapon dismantled results in 3-4 canisters of nuclear material, this facility will provide high security for the material from 6,000-8,000 dismantled nuclear weapons. The facility's maximum storage capacity is 50 tons of plutonium and 200 tons of HEU.
"Mayak" (formerly called "Chelyabinsk-65") is the name of the huge Russian nuclear facility where the storage building is located, in the closed city of Ozersk. The area extends for miles in each direction.
In addition to providing assistance for the construction of the storage facility itself, CTR provided 26,450 storage containers (with 6,240 more still in the United States for later delivery).
Using Google Earth: Locate the MAYAK nuclear storage facility at this latitude/longitude:
55.712864, 60.847916
(copy/paste the above line into Google Earth's "FLY TO" box, and press ENTER.)
A simple Google search for "MAYAK" turns up some disturbing stories regarding what has rightly been labeled as "the most polluted place on Earth." For example, a filled-in lake just 3 miles south of CTR's storage facility, Lake Karachay, is so 'hot' that a human would receive a lethal dose of radiation in less than one hour, standing on the shore of the lake. It'll remain that way for thousands of years to come.
Russia has numerous such locations, which were top-secret facilities during the cold war.
Enter 56.65, 84.91 into Google Earth and you'll be directly over Seversk, one of Russia's two remaining weapons-grade plutonium manufacturing facilities. More than half a dozen cooling towers (out of 22 total) were giving off steam when this photo was taken, probably about 5 years ago. Seversk was tentatively scheduled to shut down in 2007.
Their other similar facility, Zheleznogorsk, is located at 56.35, 93.65 but it's underground and mostly invisible to satellites. It won't shut down until 2011 or so. Both Seversk and Zheleznogorsk have a combined plutonium output of approximately 1,500 pounds per year, yet they're currently keeping them running supposedly "just to supply vital electrical power to the local cities."

i have never been a democrat so i feel ill at ease to call my self a /reagan democrat but i did not become a republican till the donks did the hate bush crap after there loss of the 02 election.
Just look at the distress Andrew Sullivan caused to this elected public official and mother of five (third par. from bottom):
Over the weekend before the convention, campaign aides made the uncomfortable decision to urge her to go public with her unmarried 17-year-old daughter's pregnancy in order to rebut salacious Internet rumors that the teen was actually the mother of Palin's own newborn child. An aide, speaking anonymously because the matter is sensitive, says that Palin and her husband grew angry about the allegations. "Do I have to show them my stretch marks?"
What Sullivan and his ilk made this devoted mother go through is unacceptable, it's maddening. Go to hell, Sullivan!

Yeah, there's a few million people who share that with you. That's what is so delightful about her. I had the pleasure of shaking her hand and having a short chat with Sarah a couple of years ago, and I was hooked.
BTW, let's put out some good vibes for the Secret Service guys who are protecting her entire family. I hope they double the size of that detail, for obvious reasons.
Here's a chuckle -- A friend of mine was at the Anchorage airport a few days ago, when four big black cars came driving up. A group of Secret Service men got out, escorted Bristol's guy Levi to a waiting plane, and they were off.
That young man probably shit a few bricks for the first day or two, but he appears to have weathered all of the scrutiny. Now ALL of them had better get used to layered security, and living inside a bubble.
I feel sorry for that young man. Having your entire personal life suddenly exposed in front of the entire nation. Just because you are engaged to the V.P. candidate for a political party. I bet his second thought was I just want to play hockey.

she certainly turned our house from "not that asshole" to "HELL YA!"
Same here.
It was the funniest thing, this last Friday. My office is predominantly liberal (a fair amount of folks there wanting a daddy state, if you know what I mean) so I and the handful of other conservatives have to cut a very low profile. Anyway, my section gets to meet with our boss individually once a week to see how the workflow is progressing, etc. So I had my meeting with my boss on Friday, and after we'd caught up on work related stuff, she started talking about politics.
Kinda blew me away, as she's always been a Democrat as far as I knew, but she's also country and rock and roll and her husband is military, so there's lots of conservative leanings there. We started talking about Sarah and my boss confessed that she felt very attracted to her as a candidate, much more so than Obama, and was leaning in that direction. Then she told me that she trusted my opinion, and what did I think?
Could have knocked me over with a straw. I've just never seen one fall into my lap like this. We spent 45 minutes talking about issues, history of the candidates, and the speeches, and she is real gone for Sarah now.
I tell you, there's something in the air. And I'm getting the first deep breaths I've had in years ...
I feel sorry for that young man. Having your entire personal life suddenly exposed in front of the entire nation. Just because you are engaged to the V.P. candidate for a political party. I bet his second thought was I just want to play hockey.
In a secure situation, scavengers and trash-pickers have NO access to the Palin/McCain throwaways... they're sealed in special bags and taken, under armed guard, to incinerators and there disposed of in a secure manner.

That young man probably shit a few bricks for the first day or two, but he appears to have weathered all of the scrutiny. Now ALL of them had better get used to layered security, and living inside a bubble.
They'll probably have to learn how to duck down when the Veep wants a clear shot in any confrontation ... <grin>
Having the Secret Service guarding your daughter on a date has to be a lot more effective than you showing the kid your shotgun when he comes over to pick her up for the first time.
SAVOR the Demo-Collapse! Toast the screams of desperation from our Left!
ENJOY every day of the leadup, for the good and the jolts... fewer of the latter than the former, Kul! :D
Sarah Palin is everything she looks to be and more. Her approval rating as Governor of Alaska has been as high as 95% and is currently leveled out consistently in the upper 80 percentile throughout the state (and in both parties) - the HIGHEST approval rating of ANY sitting Governor.
She became Governor of Alaska by defeating the Incumbent Republican Governor and doing it *without* the money or the support of the Republican Party, which was amazing in itself - and she won by a landslide. The “powers that be” at that time totally underestimated Sarah and learned better the hard way. Let’s hope Obama does the same. Sarah has done exactly what she claimed she was going to do when elected and is just as popular today as the day she was elected - perhaps more so since even the Democrats up here seem to like her - she works well with both sides in the Legislature here.
As a 30 year Alaskan resident I can tell you this is the truth, this article is a great summation of my feelings for Sarah Palin. She is well liked by the vast majority of Alaskans and had some serious run in's with the state Republican party when she took on the incumbant in the primary.
I've been reading the UK Sunday papers - some of the comments on Sarah Palin are so patronising, belittling, and plain superior that I am literally seething (I don't usually seethe). The word "gun-toting" occurs just about everywhere - and the way in which her mothering skills and her family are criticised (based on what?) is unacceptable.
I remember the torrent of scorn (well, insults - Sambo would have sounded quite refined in comparison) Italian feminist intellecuals poured over Condoleezza Rice in spite of her being black AND woman AND with obviously excellent credentials - just because she was on another political side.
I have never donated to any party / politician in my life - I am going to do it now. What is the best way for a UK resident to contribute to the campaign of this remarkable lady?
Would anyone take the trouble to tell me?
As to the gun: shame - I live alone with a three year old, and in spite of being generally lily-livered and clumsy I am seriously considering learning to shoot.
I am not sure, but from posts about Obama's campaign the other day, I think you have to be an American citizen to be able to contribute from outside the US. This was in reference to contributions listed as being from Iran.
Do you really think there will be Demo-collapse in November?
One question: here (UK and EU in general) much is made of President Bush's low popularity rating, but wasn't the rating of the current US congress even lower just a little while ago?

The current rating of the US Congress is 9% - or as John McCain quips "only thier family and stafff and not even all of them." Lowest approval rating of any US Congress in our entire history. Ever. But then they have done less than any Congress in history too.

You have to be an American citizen to contribute - period.
How frustrating - fair, however. I suppose I can do it through the American branch of the family - don't know much about their politics but they are racing horse breeders/trainers, so they are unlikely to be arugula eaters.

The best way that you can help is with your words and other, similar show of support. US election law prohibits non-citizens from making financial contributions to our electoral process or our candidates.
Sign ... I can see Melanie Phillips, a woman I generally agree with word for word, needs some educating on Intelligent Design. I hope she really is simply ignorant about this issue and isn't deliberately misrepresenting what I.D. actually is.

I feel sorry for that young man. Having your entire personal life suddenly exposed in front of the entire nation. Just because you are engaged to the V.P. candidate for a political party. I bet his second thought was I just want to play hockey.
/his first thought was "Oh s**t" :)
Ah, well. At least neither one of the kids has to worry about the wrong person finding out any more. Nothing left to hide.
Ya, they all under estimate "We the People" and ones like Sarah.
We all have to help her, once the two party evil money cult catch on to how much she can change things then she and all us have to take care of her. She will have great temptations thrown at her, hope she can withstand it.
Not withstanding others ideas on the spirit world, hand her your spirits long distance help via the prayer thingey.
This is music to my ears, especially 1, 2, 3, and 7.
My husband says I am a warmonger. I think that if one does things, one should go all the way - it saves lives in the end.
(My husband is a Socialist, New Man, heaps of degrees, PhDs and so on. Having said that, incredibly workshy, loves the comfortable life - and never contributed a penny to the upkeep of his daughter. Needless to say, he goes in for the Obama rhetorics....)
True enough. And at their age they shouldn't have done anything worse either.
/except for a toke here and there, a few brews. . . . .
//but I bet they both wish proper precautions were taken earlier. :)
I don't give the "proper precautions" bit too much credence. Even the most effective birth control known to man works only 99% of the time, if you use it perfectly. That still leaves that 1 chance out of 100. Been there, done that. . . .
Will the entire Palin family move into the Vice President's house?
/Now THAT will be interesting! Lotsa kids running around... :D
Not likely. Her son will be going off to Iraq and is his first year of an enlistment that is either 4 or 6 years long. He'll be on some military base somewhere. Bristol is getting married and having a baby, so she will have her own digs, probably in Wasilla where there is an entire town ready to lend a hand - and Levi's mother.
"Even as Gustav evacuees headed home, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said officials were anxiously monitoring Ike on a projected path toward the Gulf.
'Our citizens are weary and they're tired and they have spent a lot of money evacuating ... from Gustav,' he said. He added that if Ike were to threaten, 'my expectations this time is, it will be very difficult to move the kind of numbers out of this city that we moved during Gustav.'" --FOX News
C'mon, Ray, that's not the Democrat spirit. It's the government's job to do everything for everybody. Blame Bush. Call in the United Nations. Call in the Solar Federation. Make the government do something, dammit!
Wish us luck -- tomorrow we go all digital, all the time (the five county area I live in is the beta test site for the national conversion in February).

Will he still be able to deploy when his mom becomes Vice President?
About Bristol, I'm sure you are correct...that's one of the very nice things about growing up and living in a small town.

If thousands drown it is Bush's fault.
/these massive storms are divine retribution for our failed policy in Iraq and President Bush forcing us to drill off shore.
Is there any medication that dosen't have a problem with the body? Ugh. My problem is that I am on a nocturnal cycle instead of the normal diurnal one that everyone else is. Been on this schedule off and on for over two years.
The testicles of a Texas midget hurt and ached almost all the time.
The midget went to the doctor and told him about his problem.
The doctor told him to drop his pants and he would have a look.
The midget dropped his pants. The doctor stood him up onto the examining table, and started to examine him. The doc put one finger under his left testicle and told the midget to turn his head and cough, the usual method to check for a hernia.
Aha!' mumbled the doc and, as he put his finger under the right testicle, he again asked the midget to cough Aha!' said the doctor again, and reached for his surgical scissors.
Snip-snip-snip-snip on the right side, then snip-snip-snip-snip on the left side
The midget was so scared he was afraid to look, but noted with amazement that the snipping did not hurt.
The doctor then told the midget to walk around the examining room to see if his testicles still hurt.
The midget was absolutely delighted as he walked around and discovered his testicles were no longer aching.
The doctor said, 'How does that feel now?'
The midget replied, 'Perfect Doc, and I didn't even feel it. What did you do?'
The doctor replied....... 'I cut two inches off the top of your cowboy boots.'
LHJ: You are a mother of five and were a homemaker for many years before entering politics. You say in your book that the skills you honed doing those things were the same ones you needed when you got to Congress. How so?
NP: Absolutely, and this is what I want women to know, so they recognize the value of their own path, their unique experience. I've been in politics a while, over 20 years in the Congress of the United States, and this is a very rough-and-tumble.... I shouldn't say 'rough,' let me say a very challenging arena to be in. But as challenging as it is, nothing is as challenging as raising a family -- nothing. That experience forced me to be disciplined, diplomatic, focused, and successful, and I brought that discipline and focus to the Congress. Also, having a family keeps you focused on the future, which is the biggest inspiration in politics. In order to do what it takes to succeed in politics, you have to be inspired by your constituents, the power of your ideas, and the fact that you speak on behalf of children and their future, whether you have children of your own or not. It makes all the difference in the world.
Apparently, this is interview is several years ago.

Is there any medication that dosen't have a problem with the body? Ugh. My problem is that I am on a nocturnal cycle instead of the normal diurnal one that everyone else is. Been on this schedule off and on for over two years.
That's more than likely the real culprit here. Even if you could get on a "normal" work schedule for a longer period of time, it would probably help, don't you think?
Oh definitely. Wouldn't have to worry about people living normal lives making too much noise, or light coming through windows, etc. And to top it off it would help a lot with the rest of my life.
Now that McCain leads Obama in the polls by more than the margin of error expect to see polling data appear about as frequently in the MSM as stories about Iraq.

/Obama would cure all of that you know.
//I'm hoping for a pony and a new bike, and to get paid to stay at home.
You can take me off of there and give room to someone else!
Thank you for adding me when you did, that was a very scary time.
Going to see McCain/Palin tomorrow morning, my friend (former DEM lol) is going too and we are taking our daughters out of school and taking them with us!

Or expect new polls where the over-sample Dems and under-sample Republicans.
It's amazing how often they do that. Well, not really.

To anyone in the LFG community (bless them) who can read Italian I recommend [Link: www.camilloblog.it...] - Christian Rocca's weblog. He is the most honest, unprejudiced, most informed, in short, the BEST non-US commentator on American politics. An example is:
I haven't got the time to translate it this week because of work, kid, useless husband etc, but if anyone can do it you'll get to know an excellent journalist and an excellent person. Also good on music - and good-looking as well!
The newspaper he writes for, Il Foglio (also available online on [Link: www.ilfoglio.it),...] is also the best and most open-minded Italian newspaper. They knew Sarah and wrote about her well before she became VP candidate.
Interesting ==he speaks of how influential HIS specific church, not religion in general, was in shaping his religious beliefs.
Obamas Gave a speech to Congress that was ALL about religion:
Obama Speech: Call to Renewal' Keynote Address
Wednesday, June 28, 2006
But what I am suggesting is this - secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square. Frederick Douglas, Abraham Lincoln, Williams Jennings Bryant, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King - indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history - were not only motivated by faith, but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. So to say that men and women should not inject their "personal morality" into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

WHAT?! They're treating social security as some sort of credit/debit card?
My instincts are that this is a really BAD idea. No real reason I can state, just my instinctual reaction.
Hi {gettinby} - gee, I hope you and yours aren't in any danger from Ike - Ike looks to be a monster storm (cat 4 before it hits Cuba)! Any idea of where they expect Ike to track?
So far, the track appears to take it more westerly-northerly, with the west coast of Florida being spared (again).
Hi, Just looking for a little browser advice - I may have missed this somewhere else, but can someone give me an idea why the link viewer won't display in IE 7?
Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We managed to come through the heavy rains yesterday fairly well, though I think I've got to get a waterproofer to come in and deal with some seepage in the basement. Ugh. The house is almost 80 years old, and there are some things that need attention that weren't done before. Such is life.
Speaking of life, the IPCC would love to control yours. They want to control what you eat, what you do, and what you can do. Their latest pronouncements - they want people to change their eating habits because we're contributing to global warming (or climate change).
re: #712 gettinby
Yeah, we got less than an inch of rain from Hanna - and this after mom and I ran ourselves ragged preparing for a major hurricane type of event - non-the-less I'm glad we did what we did and got what we got and DIDN'T get any significant "weather related event"!
But, judging from that track that you showed, I sure as heck glad I don't live in South West Texas!
Doing good thanks. Glad to hear your tooth pain is getting better. (Got two more root canals coming up in the next couple of weeks) so I'll be joining you.
re: #714 ny republican
Sorry, but I'm a tech tard so will give you the kind of advice I know how to do from other folks out here for just about any computer problems I've faced: clear out cookies and cache (temp internet files), run whatever virus/ad-spy ware programs you have and re-boot! Or maybe just re-boot alone will help!
How long have you had this problem ?
WHAT?! They're treating social security as some sort of credit/debit card?
My instincts are that this is a really BAD idea. No real reason I can state, just my instinctual reaction.
Good morning/afternoon/evening/night, Lizards!
And a special good morning to you, rw!
I share your reaction to this social security debit card issue.
I think this totally disengages the recipient from the economy, from proper work and the values associated with earning one's own crust.
If all you have to do is sticking a card into an ATM and out comes your 'reward' for doing nothing, then you're made -by the State- to live in a status of economic infancy and irresponsibility.
re: #718 Geepers
Well I sure hope your root canals turn out ok - I've never had much pain from having root canals, but so far down here in N.C. I've had 3 root canals the results of which have been that I've had 3 teeth that had to be extracted cause the endodontist and dentist who did 2 and 1 of 'em respectively, screwed up the root canals, BADLY.
Hopefully yours will be fine cause you are a youngin compared to me (sighs and remembers back to the day when he could get a root canal and everything would be fine!)! LOL!
re: #720 yma o hyd
Hey good morning ymo o hyd, er, rather good afternoon to you!
Our social security is a lot different than is Great Britain's social security. And here I have no doubt that you won't be able to withdraw more than your monthly payment amount, but since a lot of elderly folks (and those of us who aren't truly elderly yet!) depend on Social Security, I worry about them and any possible misunderstanding, misuse or theft of their SS "debit cards". Just a stupid idea all around, far as I can tell.
How are ya doing?
A 17-year-old Pakistani girl forced to marry a 45-year-old when she was only nine was reportedly killed by her parents, according to the Weekend Australian.
The murder has intensified despair among human rights workers in Pakistan over a recent spate of "honor killings," in which two women and three teenage school girls were buried alive in Baluchistan Province because they wanted to marry the men of their choice.

Very good take on this, lawhawk!
Its all about control - by the elites, using scare information.
If its not international, like this stuff you reported on, its national in order to 'combat obesity'.
What it boils down to is the well-known attitude of preaching water while drinking wine themselves - a brief look at the difference in life styles between the ordinary folk in communist countries, and the ruling Nomenklatura, should make this crystal clear.

We're having an off-day - too much gloom and grey skies, not enough sunshine for the last six weeks. Mind - 'tis not raining here in South Wales, which is a relief!
Our rugby club only managed a draw, at home, against last season's cup winners, so we're very unhappy on top of the gloomy weather!
Ah well, things can only look up!
As for that debit card - theft and fraud will certainly increase with this - tis not as if nobody has never ever cloned cards or committend credit card fraud ...
The part that disgusted me about that pronouncement was that the person making it was a vegetarian. He's trying to force his lifestyle on the rest of us I think.
re: #715 lawhawk
Good morning lawhawk! That's the United Nations again. And the fact that Al Gore is out in front of this issue makes me more than a little suspicious.
As I just said on your blog: "Who the hell is the UN, the effing' UN! to tell us how to and what to eat and in what quantities?
Oh. Wait. Does Al Gore have a corporation that, for a fee, can give you extra "food" credits, like that bogus carbon credit company HE owns and to which HE pays for the ENORMOUS amount of carbon footprint just his "home" makes?
Never mind.
I think I'll go cling to my bible and my guns - not necessarily in that order!
I think the McCain campaign should set aside a few days for Sarah Palin to do a European trip of her own. They should set up a meeting with the great Margaret Thatcher (if the 83 year old conservative icon is up to it) and also with German leader Angela Merkel. I think a chance to meet Mrs Thatcher and absorb some of her wisdom would be of great use to Palin. And a chance to meet Ms. Merkel would be a great image builder for the younger VP candidate.
Hiya, willowone - you're right: it'll be joyless.
But, like Islam, Socialism is a very serious business, innit, like - can't have people enjoying themselves, the idea!
The part that disgusted me about that pronouncement was that the person making it was a vegetarian. He's trying to force his lifestyle on the rest of us I think.
/still waiting for my global warming.
His point is not so much about the joys of vegetarianism - its about the greedy Westerners who dare to eat meat while the planet perishes ...
If its not resources, its food - in any and every case, the greedy Westerners are to blame - and see, some like Algore, are saying so themselves, so it must be right!

As a frequent user I'll be happy to! Ya type out your comment but BEFORE POSTING - that's an important part I didn't fully understand for a while, then click on
the box below the comment box marked check spelling, it'll (theorhetically) check the spelling of your comment and suggest changes you should make. THEN you can post.
In addition to "Chose" check spelling seems to not get out much; it also doesn't recognize lots of language used on the net - like ROTFLMAO! LOL!
Hope this helps!
“I’m amused by claims in the West that Russia is the loser in this crisis,” said a former Putin aide. “What would Washington do if we were arming Cuba the way it armed Georgia? The postSoviet days when we could be pushed around are over.”
so the 2 RME humanitarian planes to Cuba were carrying what again?

Good morning my friend -well we're dry here, but then again the Southern Piedmont of N.C. barely got an inch of rain - I'm hoping Christheprofessor checks in today though, cause he lives on the coast and it looks like parts of the Carolinas' coast took a pretty good shot.
All told, though, I think NYC took a bigger hit than did we!
How are you doing this morning?

Our dear Maggie is sadly and unfortunately no longer up to it.
She is sufferning from the same old-age dementia as her friend Ronald did - it is so very sad.
I'd suggest waiting with a tour of Europe until after the elections - right now it'll look too much like a 'me-too' thing.
Could backfire.

Why copycat The One? That worked out so well for him, didn't it? Europeans can't vote. There are plenty of folks right here at home that would like to meet Sarah Palin - without costing the American taxpayers millions for extra security.
hello Realwest, i hope you mouth and rest of body are doing well. this is now embarrassingmy spell check at LGF does work now, when i tried it initially it worked Not, i had to use aol. and that would freeze my screen for several minutes, i feel sill as heck, and thank you for reminding me to use Your brain, as mine must have fallen off the planet for a month
Well okay, say her detractors, so she’s a good performer -- but she’s still way out there in fruitcake-land because she’s a creationist. Well, if she is I’d like to see the evidence -- because so far all I’ve seen is one statement by her which falls far short of supporting creationism, plus enormous confusion and ignorance among commentators about what creationism actually is. As far as I can see, all she has ever said on the subject, as reported in the Anchorage Daily News two years ago, is that creationism should be taught alongside evolution in schools. The following day she explained that all she had meant by that was that
discussion of alternative views should be allowed to arise in Alaska classrooms: ‘I don't think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn't have to be part of the curriculum’.
do they even look ahead to consequences, these are educated souls,
of Course they must know, which is why i believe their only goal is malice.
They don't look ahead to eventual consequences - what they do look ahead to is their place in future history books - where they hope to be described in the most glowing terms of saviours of mankind ...
Any consequences, meanwhile, will most cerainly not apply to them - thats why they can make such idiotic proposals.
re: #740 akak
Well I'm glad Putin is amused - Russia is STILL a second rate - bordering on third rate but for the size of its military - miliary power. Wait til Russia (pop around 150,000,000) tries to take a US assisted Urkraine (pop. around 50,000,000).
Oh and yeah, Putin ought to be reminded that when the old Soviet Union was a MAJOR power to be reckoned with, it got it's ass handed to it by Afghanistan in a 10 year war and the US "took" the same place in what................six weeks?
I seriously think, sometimes, that Putin is on drugs or something, cause he sure as hell is irrational a lot more frequently than he used to be.
2nd UPDATE: The list has now been determined to be a complete hoax. The list has nothing to do with Palin; it is one that has been circulating for years, with exactly the same books and in exactly the same order. It is a list of important or great books that have been banned from libraries somewhere at some time.
After being up for most of the day, the Obama campaign page spreading the phony list has now been deleted. The reason I listed the background of the official Obama website blogger was because, if I had not listed his position, it would have looked like it was probably coming from the Obama campaign leadership, rather than just a low-level local Obama campaign worker who was nonetheless given a national Obama blog.
while they pronoumce ethanol as a lesser evil. they really do have themselves turned inside out. also will they pay for the poors solar panels?
Thats easy - you will, we all will, with our taxes!
And the 'capitalist oil industries' will - with windfall taxes (for which they raise the prize at the pumhp- which you'll ahve to pay) ...
The various desert kingdoms will certainly not pay for this - they have to pay sooo much for exporting virulent Islam, see!

#719 RealWest, thanks, I 've tried all of the above, don't really know when the problem started. Everything loads fine in Firefox, and no one else seems to have the problem. Thanks again, though.
Mornin' all from North Central Wash. State. High of 80 today, low in the 50s at night, just wonderful. Football starts today and that's a great pic of the McCain/Palin rally!
I'm glad you're high and dry RW. Hopefully Christheprofessor will post today, we still haven't heard from reine though. She sent ploome an email yesterday saying they still don't have electricity and had some minor flooding.
I'm watching Ike closely...I don't like the looks of this one...it keeps moving south and has not made westward turn. The further south Ike goes at this time the probability rises that it will hit Texas.
743 and 747 ... yma and Granny ... thanks for the responses ... good points by both of you. I didn't realize Maggie was unable to even have a conversation with Palin. My feeling on the idea of meeting with powerful female leaders was more for her to absorb advice than to do a photo op. Although I do admit the photo op was a small part (25%) of the equation. Are there other female leaders around the world that would be more appropriate people for Palin to meet?

I believe a heard a tiny scream of anguish as I took my first bite of a big purple plum yesterday.
re: #752 FrogMarch
Good morning FrogMarch - wonder if the Obama campaign will ever fess up to the fact that IT is USING it's bloggers to spread lies and disinformation about Republicans until they start to get as silly and stupid as that one?
Well, sorry, no the Obama campaign will never fess up about it, I'd settle for their being honest and not putting those blogs up at all. AFAIC, if a blog appears on Obama's campaign website, it's ok with the Obama campaign and if they don't like my attitude about it, let them do what poor Charles (and the monitor lizards do) work their asses off to keep stupid and malignant comments off of their "blogs".
I did not know that about Thatcher. How horribly sad. Condolences to all who care about a great lady, a wonderful leader.
I don't see it as a bad idea. It mentioned it was for those who still get SS checks. Versus those who have direct deposit.
There are actually seniors who do NOT have bank accounts or credit cards and simply cash their checks. Since it isn't a credit card --they pay no interest, the debit is made from their own money, it could be convenient for elderly social security recipients.
No receipts to save, no fumbling for money and they don't have to carry around the cash.
I would be concerned if it were a credit card but it doesn't appear to be.
It's not putting them into a "credit-interest" system.
Senior citizens are somewhat "beyond" the rampant consumerism and materialism. Since it isn't mandatory, only those who would find it useful would apply. For example, those who are on prescription drugs and have to keep records for Medicare.
Hard to fathom that some elderly persons do not have bank accounts or a credit card but they DO exist!
Another example: Some are living in nursing homes. Their minds could still be good but they are unable to do their own shopping. They STILL get PART social security checks. A large part is deducted for the nursing home but they get a percentage for clothes, personal items and costs NOT included such as TV or a phone! A debit card would be safer for them than keeping cash. There is a daily limit on cash withdrawals which likely would be on the low side.
I had not heard of this before but not ready to condemn it as a bad idea since I can think of many elderly seniors that it would be convenient and safer for.
re: #757 ny republican
Your welcome! Just wish I knew more so as to be able to help you, but I'm sticking with my Maxthon browser (even though Charles has told me that it's just a "shell" over IE )- my version of IE is 6, not 7 and I don't run into the problems you're describing - good luck!

I think that Palin leaving the US at all at this time would be a mistake, as it makes her take on the appearance of seeking superstar status.
Most of the more well known female international leaders are dead - Indira Ghandi, Gold Meir, Benazir Bhutto. Maggie is the last of that generation. Angela Merkel of Germany. The only other fairly well known female name might be the woman who is the foreign minister of Israel. I can't see a meeting with either her or Angela doing anything to give Sarah a boost. Exactly the opposite really, as it would take time away from the real campaign and the real issues.
Good morning HH. You were quite the happy poster last night after your two bottles of wine...how's the head this morning?
Good Morning my friend...That was friday night..yes i get silly on wine sometimes..Somebody has got to wear the lampshade around here sometimes :)
We went out dancing last night with friends..
re: #769 Nancy
Good morning Nancy! Well the only reason I'm concerned about those debit cards is that some seniors are not quite funcitoning at the mental capacity they used to be (he says, trying to be delicate about it) and good easily, I think, spend more on "other" items than they can afford to once you take into account the near criminal amounts Medicare charges, rent, food and other necessities.
LOL...perhaps this should be her intro music when she debates Biden.
While the music is playing...take out her lipstick...touch up her lips...turn and wink at Biden.

re: #761 jorline
Thanks a lot for the information on Rene - sure hope she's ok and that the "minor flooding" was indeed minor and that she gets her electricity back again soon!
I have the same position........she would only be criticized for leaving the states now. Another grandma her speaking.
No way should they even give the appearance that she NEEDS the endorsement of foreign government leaders --male or female! If they want to give it fine.
The foreign endorsements are more of a liability than an asset!
"If health insurance for all, an end to the Iraq War, an end to torture and illegal wiretapping, and a sane energy policy can be obtained at the price of destroying one teenage girl, her family, and the surrendering our self-respect I see that as a cheap trade."
And:
"Are you telling me that you would not use character-destroying lies to ensure a war against Iran does not occur? . . . What choice do we have? When faced with monsters, we have to be monstrous ourselves."
And:
Are you telling me you would not destroy the love a family holds for one another, even if it meant letting someone who would destroy the constitution become president?
In this, American liberals are no different from the politically committed the world over. David Cameron knew that he would never be Prime Minister until he had killed the urgent hatred of the Conservative party in liberal England. A measure of his success is that hardly anyone now is caught up by the once ubiquitous feeling that no compromise is too great if it stops the Tories regaining power. Hate can sell better than hope.
When a hate campaign goes wrong, however, disaster follows. And everything that could go wrong with the campaign against Palin did. American liberals forgot that the public did not know her. By the time she spoke at the Republican convention, journalists had so lowered expectations that a run-of-the-mill speech would have been enough to win the evening.
I think that Palin leaving the US at all at this time would be a mistake, as it makes her take on the appearance of seeking superstar status.

i couldn't agree more. she needs to stay here and continue to energize americans. and get elected.
going abroad is out of character for her. and irrelevant right now,
it is a stunt for flakes like the 'one'.
who doesn't seem to know he's running for pres. of the UNITED STATES.
I agreed with his last line.
Obama's enemies won't make him lose the election, his friends (media, kos etc) will
So pumped, going to see McCain/Palin tomorrow!
Lucky you. They're going to be in Lebanon, OH on the 9th. Wish I didn't have to work. I'm keeping a close eye on the campaign website now.. I hope they appear in central Ohio with some advance notice so I can make arrangements to see them..Fingers crossed.
