How many times do we need to defeat the British?

Apparantly one more time at least

4 rob.schmitt  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:17:10am

Isn't that Tiny Tim?!

5 Sharmuta  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:17:14am

This was who Diddy was talking about, I take it.

6 kynna  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:17:47am

I saw this last night after my hubby pointed it out to me.

Could be good for another 2 or 3 points for McCain/Palin.

7 experiencedtraveller  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:17:51am

Is that.... Peter Frampton?

Really ... I can't believe anyone would vote based on this guy or Sean Combs' endorsement ... In fact, could it be a trick ;)

14 Kragar (Proud to be Kafir)  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:18:35am

Michelle Malkin has a large posting on this. Apparently the MTV comment boards are going crazy with viewers telling MTV this guy is full of shit

15 Curt  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:19:26am

Strange. These are the same people who get all worked up when we depose a dictator who fed his people to large chippers and vats of acid, as well as lions and tigers....and they told us it was none of our business to do that.

16 Sharmuta  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:19:30am

That was just disgusting. What a pig. Have fun back in London with the jihadis. They just might not offer you dhimmitude, dude.

17 MandyManners  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:19:35am

As my momma' would say, his hair is a rat's nest.

18 kynna  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:19:41am

The other thing he was doing was making fun of the Jonas Brothers for declaring they'll wait to have 'relations' until they're older or married or some such. The promise ring thing.

But this guy is a known drug and sex addict (just calling it a sex addiction pretty much defines his situation as negative), so it really didn't impress the crowd much.

He won some friends in the media but I'll be Obambi's camp is cringing.

19 maddogg  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 9:20:00am

Well it's official. Every brain dead moron who can wipe the spit dripping from their chins long enough to croak a partial sentence is for Obama. Suits me.

Some comments from the MTV message boards;

Morons, what were you thinking? Did you honestly think that we would just roll over and accept the political BS you tried to shove down our throats on the VMA’s with that Brit Ahole. It’s ad enough Americans are trashing our leaders (good or bad) in front of the world, we certainly don’t need some foreign idiot like Brand acting as your surogate to express your political views. I think you can see by the other blogs that you gravely miscalculated your audience. From your link:

American Idol winner turned chart-topper Jordin Sparks was so incensed by a joke about Christian band Jonas Brothers that she launched her own tirade at the host.

The teenage singer, who wears a ring symbolising her belief in abstaining from sex until marriage, snapped at Brand: "I just want to say, it's not bad to wear a promise ring because not every guy and girl wants to be a slut, OK?"

This guy should just calm down and vote for Obama. The U.K., with 60 million or so votes, has 100-some electoral votes, making it by far the most important bloc of states after Germany, where Obama has already held a campaign rally while McCain isn't even contesting it---seems his father fought for the other side back when, while Obama gets a bit of native son boost because his father hails from German East Africa. (Well, OK, they changed the name to Kenya, but still.)

If Obama can carry England, Wales, and Scotland, together with a few regular solid-blue states, then all he'll need to put himself over the top is a win in N. Ireland. One little difficulty there---how to play both sides of the IRA vs. Crown thing?

Keep it coming, you obnoxious twit. We ignorant dopes here in the colonies love it when our betters tell us who to vote for.

Remember how well it worked in 2004 when the Guardian had readers "adopt" slow American voters in Ohio and dispatch letters and e-mails begging them to vote for Kerry? The country went overwhelmingly for Bush and recipients of those letters posted tons of replies on the Guardian insulting the quality of British dental care and reminding them who won the Revolutionary War.

I posted a comment too, analogous to this situation as well: "When we want your opinion, we'll beat it out of you."

England is a very wealthy country. Its home-owning middle class has seen a massive increase in its wealth the last decade. Combined with its scaledown of deepwater naval expenditure in favor of expeditionery (or complimentery) forces shows its fundamental change of defense posture from England Alone to Bloc Party.

England WILL FIGHT, but it will take a large attack to change the current mindset.

Let's pay the host some cash to endorse a president that he can't vote for. Hm. Smart one MTV. Even if I were an Obama supporter I would be emberassed. His rediculous rant about the candidate was not necessary. Also, I might add that if you are undecided on a cadicate to vote for, please do your research on each one (P and VP nominee) and their previous experience as a leader. Later I find out that he slammed the Jonas Brothers for their "purity rings". REALLY? I agree the Brittish are hilarious, but he was down right insulting. For those LGF'rs that have more experience with the law than I do, is this true? Found this in the comments on Malkin's site.

"The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) prohibits any foreign national from contributing, donating or spending funds in connection with any federal, state, or local election in the United States, either directly or indirectly. It is also unlawful to help foreign nationals violate that ban or to solicit, receive or accept contributions or donations from them. Persons who knowingly and willfully engage in these activities may be subject to fines and/or imprisonment.

Anyway, let's not throw all the Brits out with the Brand baby and his fetid bathwater.

Aside from the Mirror, Independent and Guardian, the British Press is Conservative.

There's two good reasons for this: 1) most Brits are conservative 2) Most newspaper owners are sensible enough to know which party is better for things like free trade, minimum wage, low tax and other policies that benefit rich newspaper owners and their readers, alike.

The question really is, why is so much of the American media owned by lefties and why - given their wealth and the politics of the average American - aren't they and their papers staunchly conservative?

The media is the media. Jammed full of lefties wherever you go in the world.

Britain is largely like America - mainly conservative, but with pockets of liberalism located anywhere that liberal politicians can exploit the poor to make money for themselves.

We only got a Labour government because we voted for the (now departed) Tony Blair - who had to claim to be an admirer of Thatcher to get elected.

Currently the Conservatives are trouncing the left wing parties in our polls.

Why do we Brits give a shit who America votes for? Because America is like Rome in Roman times. Whoever runs America has a direct, huge influence on the rest of the world.

Israel, for instance, is not going to be in any danger if Iceland elects a lefty. However, if America elects Obama it's a different story.

Braindead lefties across the world see America as having the power to solve world peace as soon as you elect someone who withdraws the troops and pampers the psychos in the Middle East.

Your election goes beyond your shores. It's your burden and your benefit. It's an honour to you that we care so much.

Dear Clark County Voter,
You blithering idiot. How could you even *think* of voting for that evil, lying, chimpanzee George W. Bush? Are you *that* stupid? What is the problem with you Yanks? Regrettably, I can't vote in your stead, but if some dim glimmer of wisdom manages to penetrate your bloody thick skull you will VOTE KERRY!

Guardian Underestimates Americans

where Darwin Akbar posted his letter to the Guardian (#94)

Sirs:

First of all, I must advise that I, for one, truly appreciate that British soldiers are currently standing side-by-side with their American counterparts on the front lines of the war against terrorism. In addition, as a resident of Central Florida, I have had the pleasure of meeting many of the British tourists who visit our theme parks However, I also understand that Mr. Blair's position on foreign affairs and the Middle East is not shared by many of your readers and that, clearly, many (if not all) of your readers would prefer Mr. Blair's ally, George W. Bush, be ousted by the American electorate on November 2, 2004.

In view of same, I will not respond to your campaign as many of my countrymen have, i.e., by hurling gratuitous insults at your poor dental care, your greasy fried eggs, your warm beer, your clammy weather, those tasteless mashed peas or Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Rather, I will ask what happened to that apparently antiquated British custom known as "manners." As I understand it, "manners" involved the timeless concept of "minding one's own business." In that regard, I would suggest that the American election is America's business and that this particular question - Britain's ability to meddle in colonial affairs of state - was in fact settled in 1776. If you doubt this, please go to your own history books or do a "Google" search on the words "Washington, George," "Cornwallis" or "Yorktown." It's all there.

Therefore, please allow me to pass along the following message to your editors and readers in a uniquely unilateral and American way, to make certain it is clear: "If we want your opinion, we'll beat it out of you."

Regards,

'Loser', indeed. He is in need of psychiatric care, so help me....Russell Brand's account of not being allowed in the U.S. (with video for those who are not faint of heart or considering lunch any time soon!)

I found his MTV "performance" thoroughly obscene and disgusting, but I found his performance on Letterman in that link quite funny and clever. Maybe it was his evil twin brother on the MTV show.

197 Dom  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 10:22:41am

Probably he's virtually unknown in the States, but Russell Brand is very popular in the UK. Obviously Brand, like a lot of performing artists, likes his bit of fuzzy left hegemony, but short of real extremism he can express any point of view, I'm still a fan - politically he isn't some kind of Wagner. Occasionally I chance on a copy of the Guardian on a Saturday and read his titillating sports columns. Obviously this clip shows him at this worst, the cutting-edge political agitator, but really he's just a very entertaining guy who'd be the first to admit he mustn't be taken too seriously. I have the privilege of knowing him vaguely and I really believe he's a decent guy. So I had to let you know.

I can't say how upset I get by this kind of people and above all by the twits who applaud them. If McCain and Palin make it in November I will burst with happiness and die happy.

However, I feel just as unnerved by the saintly ads with Gwyneth Paltrow etc, which sound a bit like lectures for the non politically aware (conservatives in general).

Re. UK press - they are not as pro-Obama as the Germans etc but they ARE patronising towards the McCain - Palin voters (again, God and guns and oil).

Re. the baby as PR stunt: what about the hundreds of babies and children Princess Diana took care to be photographed with? I am sure she was a kind soul, but she did know how to exploit photo opportunities and manipulate the press.

What should we do with our imperfect children - hide them in the attic? The UK conservative leader David Cameron is happy to be photographed with his son Ivan who has severe cerebral palsy.

I'm starting to get the feeling that there's a whole bunch of people out there, not particularly political, but trained by the media over these last few years to despise Republicans and everything they stand for.

Meanwhile, all they see is a former POW extolling bipartisanship and a hot hockey mom with 5 kids who seems nice enough. Meanwhile the other side seems to be getting a little creepy - between questioning whether that mom had faked one of her own pregnancies and creating a cult of personality over a guy with no experience to be President whatsoever .

And they're starting to wonder - wait a sec, why am I supposed to dislike these Republicans again?

sure, I mean, who else but a community organizer can arrange the torching of thousands of cars over successive nights.
As well as hundreds on "non-event" nights

there......fixed

258 Right Brain  Mon, Sep 8, 2008 11:54:36am

Obama can run to Europe and complain how racist America was not to elect him. We here at home know otherwise, that we bent over backwards trying to find some reason to elect him. He should be given some reward for playing ball during Operation Chaos and taking out Hillary for us. I have an idea:

Ambassador to Londonstan
he can help with their transition to Sharia

His Wikipedia entry states:

"He has bipolar disorder.[36]

He is a former heroin addict, sex addict, alcoholic and has had numerous run-ins with the police, having been arrested 11 times for public indecency.[37] During the time of his addiction, he was known for his debauchery, a notable example being his ejection from The Gilded Balloon, in Edinburgh.[38] He has abstained from drug use since 2003 and is now a patron of the addiction charity Focus 12.[39] His abandonment of drugs and alcohol was instigated by his agent John Noel.[40] He did so with the help of the Hare Krishnas, to whom he feels "indebted".[41]

Bipolar disorder is a form of mano-depressive pathology.

MTV is nothing but one, continuous commercial aimed at the youth of America. When the network began, their stated goal was to "own the youth of America." One of the editors at Worldnetdaily had a two-part piece on this very thing, recently. Though I was aware of the bigger picture with MTV marketing to kids, I was astonished at how well-planned it actually is.

re: #242 Right Brain

Typical EuroBozo, here is a CERN press release on the where the Hadron money is coming from, the US of course.

Arrogant chauvinist hicks like you should learn to read and get an education before they actually lecture others on America's scientific achievements. This is from the link you just quoted ("U.S. to contribute $531 million to CERN's Large Hadron Collider Project"):

The LHC has an estimated total cost of 2.6 billion CHF and is being built inside the existing LEP accelerator tunnel that crosses the French-Swiss border.

Yep. That's 2.6 billion (1012) Swiss francs.

The participation of the US in the LHC project will bring a double benefit to CERN. The influx of experience and intellectual strength is perhaps as important as the commitment to provide goods and services for the LHC. Specifically, the U.S. Department of Energy will provide components and materials valued at $200 million for use in the accelerator. Three of the department's national laboratories, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, will use $110 million to design and produce advanced systems for the accelerator's interaction regions where the detectors are located. The remaining $90 million will be used for procurements from U.S. industrial firms.

A $531 million donation of which $200 million will be going to American companies and laboratories?

Hmmm. Some largesse. Thanks for nothing, dimwit.

Brand recorded The Beatles song "When I'm Sixty-Four" with Grammy Award-winning composer David Arnold for the 40th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. He contributed two songs to the soundtrack of the 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall as part of the fictional band, "Infant Sorrow."

Hardly a prolific discography.

He's mostly known in Britain as a complete pillock with an endless supply of nob gags, obsessed with talking about a:) His sordid, previous experiences with drugs, b:) His nob, c:) Things he did with his nob while high on drugs, and d:) Himself and the importance of his own opinions; skilfully using all four devices to either shock the crap out of, or simply piss off, as many people as he can.

"More than 550 U.S. scientists from nearly 60 universities and six of the Department of Energy's national laboratories in 25 states are collaborating on designing and fabricating the detector components. About 25 percent of the U.S. experimental high energy physics community are expected to do research at the Large Hadron Collider. Brand is regarded by most as a ridiculous air headed fop even in UK media. Most of his tv exposure to date has been in the form of appearances on panel shows or as a commentator on reality tv shows.

I've encountered the same attitude here in the UK many times - lefties anticipating Obama's defeat (or even assassination) almost with glee, at the thought of being 'able' to denounce America as racist.

Would the lefties be so keen to paint the election as a simple referendum on skin colour if it were a black republican candidate?

Watch Mr. Brand's 74 intro act here:
http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1593809&vid=2 72743

What a skank. And a dull witted one at that. We 40 and 50 something folks know who he's trying to emulate. That would be Eddy Izzard. Trouble is, Eddy has a brain, a brilliant grasp of world history, and much sexier heels.

Interesting to note the applause levels in response to Brand's most incendiary comments... not enthusiastic.

Exactly what I'm saying, a third-rate sotted-up manky pretender to the Eddie Izzard throne.

And from here:

Russell Brand first came to notice as a stand-up comic at a Hackney Empire new talent competition in 2000. His unique personal style, evoking the notion of Dickens’ Artful Dodger auditioning for The Cure, was evident even then. By the end of the following year he had already won and lost a job as a presenter on MTV Europe. The dismissal was triggered by Brand’s decision to turn up for a day’s filming dressed as Osama Bin Laden on the day after the September 11 attacks.

Ah, 9/11 jokes, how funny.  Dressing up like Osama bin Laden on 9-12-1 ... that's not gutsy, that's idiotic and hateful towards the people who died, lost loved ones, or were shattered by it.  If he hates America so much, why do we even honor his entry visa?

"One day I had to write a victims' list - a litany of the women I'd wronged as a result of my sexual addiction. I felt like Saddam Hussein trying to pick out individual Kurds."

Ah, making fun of dead Kurds.  Good oh indeed.

From here:

'Really? What like?' Like the time he spat in a girlfriend's face. Or the time he pleasured a man in a public lavatory for a TV show he was doing (it was never aired), despite being, in his own words, 'hysterically heterosexual'.

}:)     [He should go back to his heroin addiction, at least then he was productive.]

Have a montage of the inflated scrotum bike guy, the very scary elderly Berkeley knife toting wimmin in front of the Marine recruiting center, have huge bold quotes from the Iran imam endorsing Obama, have the Al Jazeera PhD guy with his Talking Points--and don't leave out co-founder and Anenberg grant Board Chairperson, Barack's former Boss--William Ayers standing on Old Glory, "We should have done more," domestic terrorism.

I bet there at least a dozen people registered here who could do it, You Tube it, if the RNC and McCain are too dim or doubtful to attempt it...

re: #102 Wendya

What is it with the left and their complete lack of any semblance of personal hygiene?

Heh!

Yup--from time immemorial, too. (see Karl Marx and Haight Asbury scrofulans)

re: #33 FrogMarch "....So they can keep whining endlessly - without actually caring."

Yes. It's the the posturing, the railing, that counts most because the reward is in the approval of their social peers. "Oh, look at Brand the rebel, Brand the fearless iconoclast, Brand the savvy and astute, Brand the brave, look, look, admire." This pale flower wouldn't make a boil on a tough man's neck.

re: #45 Occasional Reader

Funny he should say that, since I bet he's just the type who would be all in favor of the government taking away dangerously pointy objects from all its citizens subjects.

I read that piece, and I was in hysterics when I read this:

Peter Hamm, a spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, which supports gun control, joked, "Can sharp stick control be far behind?"

Here's my contribution....EUROTRASH POSEUR! Sorry but that's about all I can say about this idiot. My 15 year old daughter called him a moonbat, I'm raising her right.
